Laughalot no that makes sense to me (the distance thing) one of my key criteria in picking a nursery was walking distance from the house (thankfully we have a choice of four) I hate the idea of being far away from him if he needs me. At least its only once a month eh? xx

Flounce good luck lovely!

Kyz I'll do your tiling if you can strip our lounge wallpaper (after stripping ever single room of our old place of multiple layers of 1960s onwards wallpaper welded to the walls - I have a vendetta against wallpaper stripping)!

Pikz am so glad L is home.

VQ just Sad !

We've had what must only be his second sleep thru since the MMR. DH was nearly choked up when he woke up with his alarm not me asking him to settle the bear. He dashed off to J's room fearing SIDS! So 8.5 hours in a row and the bear in nursery today - I'll be an invincible super hero with boobs of steel!

fruitpastilles · 13/11/2013 08:23

Glad you're home pikz how is he this morning?

Is H still asleep gt ?

Yay for sleeping through yw

Today is S's birthday! I still can't believe she is 1. This year has gone way too quick. Off to playgroup in a min, then to see my mum, then she will open her presents later when dp is home from work. He better not bloody work over today!

PetiteRaleuse · 13/11/2013 08:44

Morning all. LO got up and walked across the room this morning. Then fell on her arse when she got excited and clappe herself. It was a good ten or twelve steps though, rather than the two kind of steps we got last week. Was v special as she was walking towards DH for a hug, so we all got to witness it.

DD 1 is staying home with me from nursery this morning as after coughing all night she woke up with a temp of 39°. I need to phone the paed later anyway as as soon as we stopped the antihistamines for LO the rash came back. Will ask her if she wants to see either or both my girls tomorrow. DD 1 was furious at not being taken to nursery, so I calmed her down by saying we would go to the shops and buy a rotisserie chicken to snack on but part way there she wanted to go home. Is now curled up nextt o me on the sofa so I think she does feel pretty ill. She sounds like she is breathing OK, am obviously being careful about the bronchio-sodding-litis after last year's adventures.

Talking of which how are things pikz ?

Was lovely to see a long kyz post last night, you are superwoman. Learning how to do clever but practical things is on my to do list. Has been since I left home...

I add quinoa to bulk out and make simple salads into full meals. Have been known to chuck some into a stew as well. Economic and healthy way of bulking stuff out like lentils and other grains and pulses. Can be used like couscous but has a stronger flavour (ime) so more able to take over.

I have masses of tomatoes sitting in my fridge and a dying basil plant on my window sill that I think I will make into a topato and basil soup. Hate faffing with the skin and seeds but nevermind. I never do tomato soup as DH doesn't like it, but tough titties.

horsey :(

Good luck today flouncy

Welcome back to the oldies Wink

Yes LO has a light duvet and has done since birth. It is very light though and with the nights getting cold I have got the fleecy pjs out. At nursery they use sleeping bags though (I asked after we last discussed) but the reason they gave me was that it was so they didn't kick duvets or blankets off, wake up screaming cold and wake up the other kids in the dormitory. The older groups use blankets. Which reminds me, LO will be moving up to the middle group in January, she'll no longer be with the babies. In September she will move up to the top group for her last year before school Shock I don't kow if she will start school in September 2015 or January 2016. DD1 is going next September.

BigPigLittlePig · 13/11/2013 09:23

O god. Awful night - F not well at all. She is currently sitting rock still on my lap watching rastamouse huffiing and puffing and wheezing. I can feel her chest rattling Sad. Typically we had run out of calpol - don't even know how that happened, so had to use brufen, not that it helped much. Poor soul only had 2 hours sleep. Off to the gp later - nearly resorted to a&e at about 4am.

Well done dd2 pr.

Brew for VQ and others xx

Elizadoesdolittle · 13/11/2013 09:33

pr how lovely....about the walking. Not the illness. Hope it's nothing serious.

pikz glad you're home. Hope he's ok this morning.

sophia I find quinoa tasteless but it is a great filler. I use it much the same as pr. I did use it in a lovely salmon dish the other day. Can't normally get DH to eat fish but even he enjoyed it.

Happy birthday to S fruits. Enjoy.

Off to take the girls swimming this morning and my sis is taking my DN swimming for the first time so will be nice to witness that.

Pikz · 13/11/2013 10:38

Thank you everyone for all the kind thoughts.

L ismuchmore chipper today and is back to chatting etc getting the sheer volume of drugs in him is a challenge and he has an ear infection alongside the broncholitis.

Last night restored my entire faith in the NHS. Our GP and the paed were amazing. I am a bit ofa frazzled mummy.

Apologies for not catching up. I will shortly.

PetiteRaleuse · 13/11/2013 10:41

Good to hear it pikz fx the worst is over and at least you know you can trust your gp and paed. I think the NHS gets a lot of flak but I think loads of quichesters have had great care when push comes to shove.

Donnadoon · 13/11/2013 10:58

Pikz Flowers Glad youre home
Horsey Thanks :(

GTbaby · 13/11/2013 12:36

Flouncy sry in baby crying rush last night didn't wish you luck/speedy recovery.

YW Grin glad bear slept well.

Gave up on A going in crib last night. Decided me sleeping at that moment was more important then his getting used to the crib. How long till I regret this?

Fruit I had a bad mum moment at 8 I woke to H chit chatting in his crib, next thing I knew it was 8.30 (id fallen asleep) and he was crying. Felt bad for leaving him alone awake for so long.
Usually I hear him playing then FH or I get up dressed loo brush teeth etc then pick up H. But today he was crying, i didn't go loo, he wouldn't let me put him down to get his milk ready( last night FH thought it was strange I asked him to fill H milk bottle and keep in fridge, surely it will only take me 30seconds to do in morning! But made life a tiny but easier).
Gave him his milk, made breaky then mil walked in "here's his breakfast, I'm just popping to the loo" so she has to feed him. Lol. Which gave me time to go to the loo just in time for A to start crying.

Although proud mum moment came when I took H to bed for his nap. He was getting grumpy. Put him down expecting his usual short crying stint. But nothing. He just lay down, thumb in mouth and let me put his blanket on him. He looked so darn cute laying there ready to sleep Grin

GTbaby · 13/11/2013 12:42

Pikz have they given you a nebuliser? My friends lo was given one for her lo.

Come on A. Please fall asleep. Mummy wants to eat her well thought out spaghetti hoops n toast me Hmm while H is asleep.
Both babies asleep at same time... Asking to much? Wine To early?

Lily311 · 13/11/2013 12:55

You are doing well gt. Hope a is asleep now. O is sleep dodging. Never mind. She will regret it. So will I.

YellowWellies · 13/11/2013 13:00

Gosh it's quiet on here - I've actually got my work done!!!

FlouncingIsles · 13/11/2013 13:04

V quiet..

Happy birthday S

Hope all is going well for flouncy

GT you are doing great! I can usually creep around like a ninja while M plays in her cot in the morning. The second she hears me though there are tears.

Lovely morning swimming with a pal from swimming classes. Took M to asda afterwards and bought her some hairclips. I cannot believe how long her hair is getting. He is being charming - it won't last but I am amused by his effort.

FlouncingIsles · 13/11/2013 13:05

Oh and in the time it took me to write that, M has fed the dog her lunch. Feck. I don't want a fat labrador!! or a really skinny child Grin

Elizadoesdolittle · 13/11/2013 13:30

Seems like it's the morning for swimming isles. I think it's only the second time I've taken E and A swimming together. As they both have lessons I find it a bit much going swimming a lot but it was lovely to see them in the water together. E had so much fun splashing about with her big sis. Really lovely to see. Enjoy P being charming personified.

DD1 at nursery now and E is asleep so having a well earned rest before I tackle the bombsite that is my house. Where to start!!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 13/11/2013 14:06

Today O has had 2 slices of toast, a scone with jam and a piece of cake for his lunch. Hmm. We go to a toddler group where they do snacks at 11:15 which is a mountain of toast and a little cake! We three are Always ystarving by then so we gorge and by the time we get home we are too full and tired for lunch! So I have made a veg packed spag Bol for tea to make up for it and we have all had fruit snacks.

It's really windy here so hats and coats on and we are all off for A windy walk up the hill to walk of the carbs of the morning.

gt you sound like you are doing fabulously to me. Remember it doesn't last forever and in a few months A will be old enough to wreck the game that H has maticulously set up sit up and play a little with him.

Miss my DH today.

ChasingDaisy · 13/11/2013 14:38

Afternoon all

Happy Birthday to the birthday babies today Smile

Had my new HV visit today. She was nice, if a little patronising. As admitted, that having seen my history, she didn't expect me to be coping Hmm But she said that me & O obviously had a good relationship and that I obviously knew what I was doing regarding the transition from to cows milk to formula etc. Got O weighed and he is 20lb 14oz and on the 50th centile. So, snap Pidj Grin O was also teeny when he was born - 6lb 1oz.

Have decided to start the transition to cows milk tomorrow. Starting with his daytime milk I am going to make it 50/50 formula, cows milk and then progress to having it in a beaker. Then I'll do the same with his morning milk and finally his bedtime one. Sound like an ok plan?

PetiteRaleuse · 13/11/2013 14:57

Hmm, DD1's temperature isn't going down and her cough is no better. Plus she actually asked to go for a nap Shock

I think I will take her into the doctor tomorrow of no better overnight. LO's rash will have to wait til Friday. If controlable with antihistamines and not bothering her in the slightest it can't be too urgent can it? I can't deal with both going to Dr at the same time atm. DD1 is clingy and needs my full attention as far as is possible.

I was so looking forward to tomato and basil soup but my damn tomatoes are off. I don't keep tomatoes in the fridge so was surprised to find a couple of kg in the bottom drawer of the fridge Angry and they have gone off. So am going to defrost some chicken soup. Cba to cook tonight.

PetiteRaleuse · 13/11/2013 14:59

Sounds like a good plan chasing

soph enjoy your walk. I offered dd1 a dog walk but she refused. She never ever refuses walks or trips out. She must really be feeling rotten :(

YellowWellies · 13/11/2013 16:52

Wooo I've just been put into a bid for freelance work that would see me 100% busy for the next six potentially nine months. Wah fingers crossed we get it!

Right I'm going to get my boy early from daycare as I'm all done here and I miss him Smile

PetiteRaleuse · 13/11/2013 17:02

Fingers crossed yw I really need to start making plans for when my current situation comes to an end.

Am feeling inexplicably homesick today. I don't think we'll get the opportunity to come over to the uk next year as we kind of owe the ILs a visit and we'd like some 'us time' holiday too, even if it is just here at home. But feeling so homesick. I think it is because dd1 is talking so much French and LO is obviously understanding French so well now. I offered her some cereal this morning and she looked at me blankly. I offered her some céreale and she got all excited and kind of nodded her head.

Lily311 · 13/11/2013 17:07

I decided it was 7 o'clock 7 min ago, she is in bed and asleep. Nap dodging does not agree with us.

PetiteRaleuse · 13/11/2013 17:13

What are you going to do with your extra hour Lily ?

PurplePidjin · 13/11/2013 17:21

Happy birthday, birthday babies Cake

Sophia it amazes me the crap doled out a groups, we have a weekly market where you get a bowl of fruit/veg for £1 - 3lb pears or a dozen bananas for example - so how are custard creams and fairy cakes cheaper?!

PR fx she bounces back quickly

How's it going Pikz?

R was 6lb 3 at birth and happily tracked just under the 0.4th centile for the first 6 months of his life. Bf or ff, we're obviously getting something right - our babies are thriving despite the drama inour lives Thanks i just started giving R a couple of oz of cows milk once a day when he dropped to breakfast/bedtime boob, he loves it and no transition required...

I've probably forgotten important people so my apologies if my brain has failed me

R worried me by not peeing much today - he had the same nappy on 9-12:45 and it was dry - but excelled himself with a giant splatty turd on the bath mat then 3 giant wees in quick succession in the bath HmmEnvy i only changed one nappy last night (dirty, 2:30) please keep your fx that he's coming out the other side of the molar/growth spurt hell Hmm

GTbaby · 13/11/2013 18:10

Need to rant.

Bil asked FH to pick his kids up from school. Not ideal. But ok.
Today told one finishes at 3.15 other at 3.45. Will have to hang about. I know it's FH hanging about but 3pm is when H is at his grouchiest. He wants someone to play with so I'm struggling with both of them.
Then mil calls and tells me that they have sports club tonight so need something substantial to eat before being picked up. FH was told this buy bil. As id had a quiet min id made sandwiches already. Seeing as im making dinner should I not be told? Bil knows ill be making the dinner.

Also today was bath day for the boys and me and I feel like its really hectic. And annoyed that we have the kids, when usually I love having them here.
Ok stop complaining, will be glad H had someone to play with.
