Hiya kyz nice to see a properly epic post from you again and well done on all that wallpapering - I am v impressed by any more of decorating being completely inept myself Grin

BigPigLittlePig · 12/11/2013 21:21

We need to decorate our hall. Things that are on the wall that should not be include -

  1. 5 year old girls handprints
  2. cat blood (don't ask)
  3. little pig grub
  4. general grub

Kyz I am seriously impressed by your DIY skillz. I wouldn't even know where to begin with wallpapering.

DoItTooJulia · 12/11/2013 21:24

Ah, thanks for welcoming me back!

A isn't sleeping great. He will sleep through for a short phase and then gradually wake up more and more times during the night until we are up to 10 times a night or more of wakings.

He also doesn't settle in the evenings. He can wake 3,4,5 times between 7.30 and 10.

Anyone else have this? It's killing me.

BigPigLittlePig · 12/11/2013 21:28

Julia - flouncy izzy, vq, isles, me plus others are firmly in the shite-sleep camp. It sucks doesn't it?

Kyz · 12/11/2013 21:34

Eek sorry guys! That was immense!!! Am hoping I can keep up a bit better now as you can't rush the last bits of decorating really, paper needs to dry before I paint it and whatnot. My mum taught me what I know, and she has a fractured spine so me watching and learning went to me fully stripping and redecorating the dining room aged 15. Haven't looked back since! I did coving and everything, I'm particularly proud of the coving because mum hadn't done it before either and could barely walk at the time so could only help from the ground so to speak! I cannot tile, which bugs me. But I'll learn eventually! I can do various floors, strip paper and paint, re paper and paint, I can put up a fence and lay slabs and concrete and turf. Haven't done a pond yet but really want to! I'm nowhere near professional level but it looks ok I think :)

Anyway... If I can do it you could all do it too :)

julia what's his daytime routine like? Does he eat well/drink milk? Sorry he's not sleeping great :( has it always been like this or did he sleep through at one point for quite a while? Or has it always been this kind of cycle?

fruitpastilles · 12/11/2013 21:35

Me too, S used to be a brilliant sleeper, now she's up all night....... Unless in with us, crafty little thing.

DoItTooJulia · 12/11/2013 21:43

He has slept through, so he can do it.

He eats like a trouper and still has quite a lot of milk during the day. He is dropping a nap, so he tends to have one long lunchtime nap nowadays.

I can't find anything that affects his sleep. His naps seem to have little effect on nighttime sleeping. It's been getting progressively worse now for a few weeks. I went back to work last week so I'm really feeling it now. The going back to work hasn't affected his sleep, we are just on a bloody downwards spiral again.

He's done this before, but I need to sleep. I need an evening after a long day at work. Gah! I want to enjoy him, but I find this so hard IYSWIM?

Nice to hear I'm not on my own though! X

DoItTooJulia · 12/11/2013 21:44

Oh and he will sleep if he is on with us, just like you fruitpastilles!

BigPigLittlePig · 12/11/2013 21:49

Julia I am a dead woman walking - working average of 60 hours a week, and have been lucky to get 5 hours a night lately. F has spent most of the night in our bed for over 2 months now. Prior to that she was managing 12 hours through the night. She's had lots of bugs, plus growth spurts and developmental leaps. I have no bright ideas, but lots of solidarity!

If anyone knows the answer, please share! I suspect, despite 12 months, none of us are much the wiser Grin

DoItTooJulia · 12/11/2013 21:55

Christ. My ds1 slept through from 12 weeks, so I'm totally unprepared for this. He's 1 now!

I bought a pillow for him and I'm considering a duvet. Anyone else done this yet???

BigPigLittlePig · 12/11/2013 21:58

We had duvet chat recently....I think most peoples LOs are still in sleeping bags, a few have pillows (F does, she snuggles into it). Not sure any had made it to duvets yet. Maybe PR was considering it...

Right. Feckin' knackered. Off to bed.

Tomorrow my gran is visiting, so v exciting. Would love to see her more often than I do, she's a special lady.

And did I mention I have time off work!?! WOOHOOO!!

ValiumQueen · 12/11/2013 22:12

Not caught up but just have to share. J asleep in cot by 7.30. DD2 vomiting at 9pm, waking J. If this were a plot for a soap opera it would be criticised for being OTT.

Now to decide who is off with her tomorrow. Perhaps one of us will be hurling by the morning so that will decide it.

I just can't believe this is happening again.

ValiumQueen · 12/11/2013 22:21

But at least we are not I hospital with bronchiofuckinglitis. Although nothing would surprise me.

Saw a double rainbow today right over Pass's gaff. A birthday rainbow Smile

flouncymcflouncerson · 12/11/2013 22:28

Just popping in to say hi before I disappear offline til I get out of the hospital! in case you think I've flounced again!

I've to be at ward for 7.30am! I'm scared for that read terrified!! and hoping that they don't cancel on me for anything!!

Argh!!!

fruitpastilles · 12/11/2013 22:34

pr's LO does have a light duvet! guidelines are different there.
Oh no vq not again! I hope you're not up all night! poor dd.
flouncy good luck! Hope the op goes well.

ChasingDaisy · 12/11/2013 22:58

PurplePidjin · 12/11/2013 23:06

Brew for VQ Pikz and anyone else in need Thanks

R, my teeny 6lb 3oz 0.4the centile squish, was weighed today and is now 20lb 15oz and 50th centile Shock he's been creeping up since weaning, gaining a steady lb and a bit every month. Dp is thrilled he won't be a shortarse :o

GTbaby · 12/11/2013 23:30

Pikz glad ur home. Hope u manage to sleep well.

My Ewan the dream sleep sheep has gone all static sounding Hmm not used it for ages with H. Finally put it in As crib, hoping to get him to sleep in it for the odd hour over night, and the harp noise is not soothing to me at all.

I want some sleep!

FH is at work tomorrow. So I get to do the morning alone Confused hoping H sleeps till 9. Asking to much? Wink

Well A has been in crib 5 mins and awake. Record amount of time!
Spoke to soon. Confused

misslaughalot · 12/11/2013 23:38

Hugs to Pikz and VQ, will be thinking if you tomorrow flouncy.

Those of you who answered shitty to my earlier question were correct. 3 wakings so far, one for an hour. She knows in going into work for the first time tomorrow doesn't she?! Is it ridiculous that I'm a bit wobbly over being so physically far away from her? My company's office is over 60 miles away (I work from home and only have to make the journey once a month or so). I've never been that far away before.

Lily311 · 13/11/2013 05:55

Good luck flounce and hugs pikz and vq and misslaugh
Happy birthday to P and to those who celebrate today.
Insomnia kicked in at 3, af showed up at the same time. Great. O woke at 5.30 but settled back with a bit of milk. I need to wake her soon. I'm cutting her morning nap out, hoping that it will help her sleep longer in the morning.
All good here otherwise. Nothing newsworthy.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 13/11/2013 07:27

Good luck for today flouncy

Hope you got a good night pikz thanks for the recipe I will try that I. Next weeks repertoire.

Hi julia good to see you about.

A lovely old epic comfort post from kyz before bed. I can not beleive how much you have done. You are amazeballs!

horseylady · 13/11/2013 07:31

I didn't sleep last night. Neither did ds really.

Someone coming to see my horse. I feel sick :(
