ChasingDaisy · 12/11/2013 14:29

GT, I saw that Loose Women were about to discuss it so I did the hoovering instead as I knew it would make me angry.

Oh Pikz, poor L Sad That does seem to have come from nowhere.

ChasingDaisy · 12/11/2013 14:46

What would have helped me to continue bf would have been better post natal care. I was on a ward with 3 other women who didn't seem to struggle with feeding at all. I felt a nuisance every time I asked for help and spent the whole 2 days in tears. I just wanted my poor newborn scrap to have some milk in him so I felt that I had to alternative but to choose formula.

PetiteRaleuse · 12/11/2013 15:31

Loose Women pretty much make me angry whatever they discuss. Apart from JSP, I quite like her.

pikz that sucks utter arse. Has he had it before? This is ringing a bell. If they admit him they will be able to give him lots of lovely energising oxygen so don't worry too much if they do. Ask if chest physio is an option, it really helped LO clear her chest last year, and DD1 had it too with pneumonia, several times a day when she was in hospital. Remember that bronchiolitis comes in stages, and the middle stage is the worst. Poor love, my two have lingering coughs, have done now for weeks, every evening. Humidifiers in their bedrooms help, it was the chest physio bloke who told me to get them. It's really scary but it does pass and once they diagnose it they will be able to keep a real eye on it even if they don't admit him. (((Hugs)))

FlouncingIsles · 12/11/2013 18:44

Pidj I am floored by your generous offer. Really I am. But I could not possibly accept. This is my problem and I will sort it. But thank you so so much for thinking of me on that level. I had a little cry earlier when I read it

Happy birthday to all the babies! I remember being soooo jealous of you all this time last year, as my pregnancy addled brain had its heart set on a 'special' date - 121112 was the next one from my original 10 11 12 Blush Anyway, hope you've all had a super fantastic day. 1st birthday here seems soooo far away still.

Hope baby pikz is much better this evening.

So basically, after a lot of talking arguing and thinking crying we have decided to give it till Feb. What this means in real terms, is I am biding my time until February when I have got 3 months of pay behind me and am in a much better place to leave. I will lose this house but there will be others. I may even be able to buy a house through work by then. There is no other way around it. He is adamant he will change. I am adamant he won't. As horsey (I think?) said, I have reached the line. But for M's sake, the only way I am going to do this properly is with some financial backing. And frankly, staying put for another 2/3 months is only reaffirming I am making the right choice. It is like being a fly on the wall of my own life. And as he is the silent sulker and I am the shouty/aggressive one, I have no qualms about my safety here. Deep down I think he knows what I am doing, but is in complete denial. Anyway, that's where I'm at.

As an aside; anyone still looking for the next stage car seat, Boots have the Britax First Class down to £89. Cheapest I've seen it anywhere so I've just ordered it for my mum. They have 3 for 2 baby event on and I needed nappies and a raincover for bjcm too so carseat actually worked out slightly cheaper than that, and I got a shit load of points. Grin

YellowWellies · 12/11/2013 19:42

Isles that sounds like a good plan just make sure you keep 'your' money safe. And ta for the info on the car seat Smile that's one of the ones we were considering.

I think I should retrain to be a locksmith £72!!!! For five minutes work Shock . Still it's all fixed now and we managed a nice dog walk as dusk was falling.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 12/11/2013 19:47

Hugs isles did you ever persuade him to do counselling? Might be worth spending some time on during this period up to Feb if you can.

O has come home from nursery today with about 4 crops of what look like insect bites. The skin around them is extremely red. How long does it take insect bites to come up? I always thought was 24 hrs. I have given some piriton as they looked so sore. I don't know if this was the right thing I hope so. Any advice or wisdom? What would bite at this time of year?

How's things pikz did L perk up and.......what exactly did you do with the quinoa? I am always looking for good meals using it. I know it is good but what to do with it?

I agree with you on the bf chasing that's what happened to me. I managed 11 weeks, using tops ups, with DS1 on,y thanks to a neighbour bein a breast feeding counsellor. Didn't even make it out of the hospital feeding O. I was just poo at it.

Have you got a new lock yw

fruitpastilles · 12/11/2013 19:56

So much to catch up on! My gosh, there are so many birthdays today, happy birthday to P, D, J and M. I'm so sorry if I have forgotten anyone.
pikz how is lo now? I skim read up to where he had to have steroids so sorry if you have updated, but if so I'll read it in a min.

Just wrapping the last of Sinéad's presents ready for her bday tomorrow. I can't believe I am the mother of a very nearly 1 year old. That is crazy! This time last year I was having my waters broken after having been in hospital for 3 days already with 2 pessarys that hadn't worked.

DoItTooJulia · 12/11/2013 20:05

Hello!

I'm here under a name change! I was Priscilla101 but haven't posted since the early days as I just couldn't keep up.

I posted a picture on the FB group of Arlo turning 1. Just wanted to check in really and say hi. I think that the first birthday thing is making me relive those early days and I am reminded what a help this quiche was to me then.

That's all really! A THANKYOU post!

Passmethecrisps · 12/11/2013 20:08

This time last year we were home (soon to end up back in hospital)

Welcome back doit! What a lovely post!

misslaughalot · 12/11/2013 20:09

Happy birthday to all the little ones who turned 1 today, am loving all the pictures on FB at the moment!

YW why did you need a locksmith, what happened?

Isles I have no advice for you, just wishing things turn out for you the way you want them to.

Ok, who stole my baby and replaced her with one who falls asleep instantly?! That's never happened before! I literally put her in her cot, she rubbed her eyes, turned onto her side and was asleep. Can I take bets on whether this means we are in for a good or shitty night?!

Donnadoon · 12/11/2013 20:12

Happy birthday Cake to all the babies!
to PR Pumpkin Pass and anyone else that needs one Grin

Passmethecrisps · 12/11/2013 20:15

We are decorating p's cake now. After she has gone to bed! A girl can only handle so much excitement

Pikz · 12/11/2013 20:45

In children's ward. Hopefully get to go home in next few hours x

BigPigLittlePig · 12/11/2013 20:49

Happy birthday little babies - so many today!

Pikz that sounds so terrifying - have you been released or has the wee dude got to stay in?

I heard the bf incentive stuff on the news, and just thought it was such total and utter dogshite. The people who want to bf and can will do, vouchers or not. The people who want to bf but can't, will not be helped as no extra real support. And the people who don't want to bf and won't try, will not be tempted by shopping vouchers. So I struggle to see how the government thinks it will help...

F has a really chesty cough too, I have been toying with the idea of popping to the GP, as it seems quite tight/wheezy tonight. But she is happy in herself, eating and drinking well. And causing oodles of mischief. I have the next 5 days off work though so shall keep an eye.

BigPigLittlePig · 12/11/2013 20:49

Ah cross post pikz - fingers crossed xx

Passmethecrisps · 12/11/2013 20:52

Fingers crossed you get out tonight, pikz!

And hia! To cacacaz!!

PetiteRaleuse · 12/11/2013 20:58

Fx pikz rsv is a bastard. I hadn't even heard of it til just over a year ago. But now they know how to handle it it'snot a danger for anyone other than us going mad with worry.

horseylady · 12/11/2013 21:09

pass hugs I felt the same.

isles you'll sort it. There maybe better houses. You know? Plus you'll be settled working.

pikz hugs

Happy birthday babies xx

Kyz · 12/11/2013 21:10

Evening everyone! Have some time to sit at my laptop, E is in bed and I've tidied round and stuck some washing in and I can't really do anything else decorating wise as i'm waiting for my plaster to dry overnight before I can sand it down and size the walls. Anyway, I've got the whole fred to catch up on, won't have time to catch up on the end of the last one so will go from the beginning of this one :)

Before I start Massive happy birthday to every little and big quiche member, I know there's a few, so happy birthday and hope you've all had great days. Also happy birthday to any i've missed over the past couple of days so a belated happy birthday to you all too :) I know there's zambonis S, eliza's E, eliza, Jims F that i've missed and lots of birthdays today too!

flouncy Glad you're ok to have the op and the doctor was so fab :) Woohoo to J sleeping through, so he can do it bless him :) Fc there's more of that to come then!

Hope your week goes ok Bry it does look like a busy one!

Hope the nursery settling in session went ok misslaughalot

How are you feeling now Fatima and M? Hope your dh had a nice birthday, happy birthday to him. Eeek Re the bleeding - not sure if i'd be worried or not - probably not unless it keeps happening? I've no idea though sorry :(

Det dp's work do sound really unreasonable. Don't blame you for being narked and not telling them your working hours

Naps.. I wake E if it means he won't go to bed at 7/things are out of whack. He sleeps about 10-11 and about 2-4 but nowadays if we're out he'll only have half hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon roughly. If he's ill at all with teething/jags/just not himself/poorly he will not sleep well in the day and if he has a bad night it is usually a shocker (think hourly wakings and regular waking crying/screaming).

chasing i'm glad you had a better afternoon with O, you're doing fantastically with everything you really are.

I haven't given E a pillow yet, was wondering when they could have one but then I don't think he needs one just yet. When do you decide they need one? det E has progressed in the same way and is now a tummy sleeper.

wooo for self settling P Pass :) I bet she will love her new books and appreciate any fuss made especially in future years when she'll be able to remember it :)
Glad the nursery day went ok yw

yay hey bp!!! Sounds like you had a great day at London zoo :)

vq huge hugs - you really are amazing for coping the way you do - J is very very lucky to have such a wonderful mummy :) I wish I had some advice but I know you're doing everything you can for J and then some.

I also couldn't imagine E in anything but a cot. He would trash the place!

Glad you had a lovely time at the wedding Eliza and E had a nice birthday :) Ooh a new phone, lovely!

Lily with the milk I'm still a bit unsure, the lady who saw us for e's one year review said to just go cold turkey, but E has anti reflux milk still even though i'm pretty sure he doesn't need it it's much thicker than cows milk/normal formula so i'm not sure if he will or not. That said the only bottle he has is at night time now. E has cows milk alongside breakfast in his sippy cup and drinks up to 5oz but sometimes just 2 or 3, and then he still has 8oz formula before bed. I only stopped giving him formula in the morning after breakfast 2 days ago and I don't like to change too much at once. None of this has helped at all I don't think but at least you know someone else is befuddled!

They are lovely shoes sophia :)

Glad you had a nice if a little chaotic birthday weekend for F Jims!

Isles Hugs, you're very sensible and will do the right thing i'm sure

Epic sleep pr do you feel better for it?

Glad things are easing towards normality stunt and hope you get your interwebs sorted soon!

That's a shame about turkey apple :(

Brill gt! Public bf i mean

Eeek det! I am paranoid about running out to the point of having to have half a tank at all times

pr everyone fed nobody dead Fo sho' You are certainly not a shit mum, not by a long shot! big hugs

waves at horsey and cacacaz

aww very cute that Jonas said his name yw :D E is weird, he says something for a few days then you don't really hear it again for ages, and then he will casually drop it in, context right and everything, weeks later!

Hope he's ok after jags jj

The news story thing made me angry also - I am pro BF but are vouchers really the answer? Seriously? Do people think I would've tried harder for some sodding vouchers? Grrrrr! Hugs to those upset by this :( I too felt rushed, unsupported and also felt similar to chasing - I almost felt panicky and very weepy and NEEDED to get some food into my baby, I just felt like such a failure still do. I did express for 8 days but really wish I could've managed a bit better. Still, bloody vouchers wouldn't have pissing helped!

Hey wellies :) I think lots of quiche people have said reflux has flared up for their babies when ill or teething :( Hope things are ok soon

Hope you've had a nice day today pr :) and everyone else too obvs.

How was today vq? wasn't on early enough to wish you good luck

I totally agree with you re the news zamboni I used to find it awful enough but since having E anything especially involving children makes me so so sad :( There was something recently with a little boy who'd been killed by his mums boyfriend I think it was and he was the same age as E was at the time I read it and it was horrid. Dp follows sports alot and one american football fellows little boy had been killed by the boys mothers new partner. Dp could not sleep until I had got up with E so he could hug him. He gets in at 6 and I found him bleary eyed on the sofa with a bag full of presents. He said it hit him and for a minute it felt like it was him and he felt broken just from that minute of imagining.

oh gosh pikz hope he's ok! fucking bronchiolitis! Hope you're home soon, big hugs.

Thank goodness you weren't all locked out yw! My sis too needed a locksmith the other day, £84 and she said she bets it took no more than 6 minutes! Good grief!

Hope O is ok sophia not sure what would be biting him now :/

Hey fruit!

Hi julia lovely to hear from you, happy birthday to A :)

Oooh bplp well deserved time off methinks, hope you enjoy it!

E has had a lingering cough morning/evening for a little while now but nothing major. Can anyone recommend a good, quiet because I dont want him waking humidifier thingy?

Erm, todays news from me.... Today I have wallpapered upstairs and down the stairs, just the hallway tomorrow but with it being quite big there's a fair bit to do! The fair is here this week starting tomorrow at 6 and I love the fair! Can't wait to take E, I don't care how much decorating is left I am bloody well taking him! I am about ready to drop now but hoping for a good night from E tonight. Last night was good, the night before pretty awful.

hugs all round, no idea when i'm back again but I do read and really miss posting regular posts of epic length and replying to everything!

BigPigLittlePig · 12/11/2013 21:10

Luis just produced the word pygmyish on WWF. The man is a walking thesaurus.

BigPigLittlePig · 12/11/2013 21:13

Good lord kyz. Have just refreshed the screen and done this - - > Shock That is EPIC!

Passmethecrisps · 12/11/2013 21:16

kyz

You are such a star. And your DP sounds just lovely.

horsey I had a wee cry for you and for pikz. It was the strangest thing. A years worth of anguish unleashed over some bullshit research project.

Anyway. I am all over that shiz now.

vq how's the famile?

Passmethecrisps · 12/11/2013 21:16

I think I could be described as pygmyish.

fruitpastilles · 12/11/2013 21:17

kyz I love your posts!
