As I so frivolously finished the last thread, I thought I'd better start a new one. Go!

glad nursery is getting better meringue

happy birthday to the birthday boys!

we have hard floors here, although we have a big rug in dd's room. DD prefers to bumshuffle on the wooden floors still, although she crawls on carpet.

Wipe clean floors are handy for cleaning spillages.

Although dd loves to fish out bits of grime from in between the floorboards and eat them.

AngelHairAngielka · 06/01/2014 18:51

Eww to floorboard grime bugsy Smile but Molly totally does that too.

Happy birthday boys!

birdies we have a hard floor with rugs on. To be honest I haven't noticed a difference to the carpets we'v got in the bedroom in terms of being tricky with the little ones. Most bumps and bruises have happened as a result of falling onto chairs/table legs/cupboard doors rather than anything directly floor-related of course there was the time Molly fell off the changing mat onto the lino-covered concrete floor

meringue hang in there with nursery. Glad it was better this afternoon - it will get better I promise. I took Molly in to hers this morning as it was my first day back at work and after I put her on the floor, she crawled off without so much as a backward glance. She's quite clingy at the moment too. It's horrid but you are a great mummy! Big good luck hugs

LOL at the fall lolli hope you diddn't do any serious damage

Molly isn't pointing at all, although she still does her waving and 'ello' calls when someone comes in a room. She says 'doudou' when she sees her comforter thing (French word for it, which we use too bc of DD1) and one thing she's just strated doing is holding a phone up to her ear if she gets her hands on one. She also does tongue clicking apple Grin

I was there with you today tugs! First day back in the office and it was strange but also so much better than I was expecting. Talking to lots of different people about things that do not revolve around baby sleep/behaviour/trouble was strangely interesting Hmm

glorious DD1 has a toy kitchen which Molly plays with just as much if not more than her! There are some brill ELC velcro veggies that you can 'cut' and Molly tends to sit sticking and unsticking the two halves of the tomato for hours!

AppleCrumples · 06/01/2014 19:19

ooh angie my dss had those! wish i knew what happenrd to them as we still have their kitchen which Ivy loves to get into. she likes taking all the pots anf pans and tea set out and then putting it all back! Grin

Lora1982 · 06/01/2014 20:05

very excited for tomorrow Grin I put a banner and balloons up in his room earlier so he'll wake up to that and I made a congratulations for surviving the year sash for me... dp didnt want to wear it work Sad

today ive been so proud of his new abilities and showing that there is a brain in there, I pointed out dogs on his pjs and he pointed to his dog toy n said wuff. also may fetch his dinner earlier because he started signing food at half 5.

I think its a good idea to pay for the swim class for a birthday present, they have everything from xmas and we dont want houses full of toys

feel slightly emotional ladies, which is so not me, this time last yr I was begging to go home after my waters had gone and I felt no pain only to be in agony when I got home im so proud of us all we have overcome the first year and sorted out many a problem between us all

Lora1982 · 06/01/2014 20:10

forgot to say for the family party tea im providing pombears in homage Wink

Lora1982 · 06/01/2014 20:38

angielka saw those veg on ebay looking for a friends babys birthday and love them, was going to get some later in the year. I narly bought the ikea ons when I went the other week but put them back for fear of over spending Grin

mrsbug · 06/01/2014 23:05

Have just taken down Xmas decs and so I've also dechristmassified and shortened my nickname on here

Pascha · 07/01/2014 09:09

I always think of you as mrsbug anyway, mrsbug Grin

Lora I think I had Dexter's birthday down as yesterday in my head Blush Whoops. Happy birthday for today Dexter! Cake for you.

BuntyCollocks · 07/01/2014 11:23

I followed the trend - happy birthday today, dexter

Question for anyone still breastfeeding - are your little monsters darlings still feeding ok? I posted in the feeding topic, but c's latch is to pot (no more teeth to cause it); she latches on fine but then pulls so far back it becomes v shallow and painful, basically a step away from nipple feeding.

Wondering if anyone had any fantastic titps

couldn't resist

BuntyCollocks · 07/01/2014 11:23

Argh. Strike out fail.

mrsbug · 07/01/2014 12:12

bunty when I posted about sore nips a few weeks ago, it turned out to be because my period was about to return. I thought there was something wrong with her latch but it turned out to be my nipples getting more sensitive.

Happy birthday dexter!

Pascha I think it was you calling me mrsbug that inspired the name change Smile

glorious · 07/01/2014 13:23

Sounds like the kitchen might be a hit then. I've measured a space for it Smile

It's so brilliant when you can see their little brains coming through. Impressed by the dog lora. I love the word doudou angielka so that's what we call ours too (well it is a French one!).

Last night E was deliberately making me laugh by popping off the boob and sticking her chin in the air and saying 'bub'. I can't really explain why it was so funny but we were both in stitches! Grin She's just started pointing and saying 'dat' when she wants something which is very useful as the reaching out and grunting wasn't all that clear and sometimes she got the wrong thing!

We had a few latch problems but they resolved. I rang a helpline which was useful.

BuntyCollocks · 07/01/2014 13:50

Thanks, mrsbug and glorious

You may be on to something with the period thing. According to fertility friend, it is predicting my period to start tomorrow. Surely I can't go straight back into a normal cycle?

Feeling virtuous. C is having banana sandwich with chunks of cheese and tiny maderins for lunch. I think it's the healthiest, most varied lunch I've ever made her.

glorious that sounds so cute! Cameron thinks if she points and says 'ta' she can get whatever she wants!

Polyethyl · 07/01/2014 19:03

Today was day 2 of being back at work. Oh how irrationally I hate the childminder. She's obviously competent. She's clearly efficient. Her mid day texts are informative and reassuring. Baby is happy enough. But she gets to spend the day with my baby. Damn her. Whilst I shuffle bits of electronic paper about, go to meetings and agree with my boss.

Am I allowed to have a rage about that?

Lora1982 · 07/01/2014 21:02

shattered. amazing day. extremely proud. fridge full off left over food and drink Wink

glorious · 08/01/2014 08:31

haha bunty , ta sounds hilarious! I'm not sure I was that helpful but what I meant was that it resolved by itself Smile No AF here yet but definitely getting more hormonal so may be soon.

poly you can definitely rage. How's work?

lora well done, hope you had a quiet evening with the booze!

lollipoppi · 08/01/2014 09:11

Smile Poly that made me chuckle, how is work going? Has anybody gone back full time?

Lora glad you all had a good day!

Question, how's teeth brushing going? Dd has 4 teeth and at the moment she mainly just chews the toothbrush and I do manage to get a little brush in between her fighting me

Also the little monkey has figured out how to climb up onto the sofa Shock

BuntyCollocks · 08/01/2014 11:25

mrsb you may have been on the money. Period today. Bastard thing.

poly definitely allowed to have rage. It's C's first half day at nursery. I'm a bit lost this morning.

Glad you had a fab day, lora!

Angielka · 08/01/2014 16:41

Rage away Poly - I'm back 30 hours and currently sat in Vienna hotel room expressing breastmilk Hmm

Well done Lora

Lolli we get chewing of the toothbrush when we rememer to give it to her at all but I remember with DD1 getting more serious after she turned 1.

Sorry about the period bunty. Chocolate time Grin

OP posts:
mrsbug · 08/01/2014 17:33

Boo bunty, but at least you know the cause.

I've gone back on cerazette so hopefully no more periods for a while.

Lostbobbles · 08/01/2014 18:48

Lora - Happy Belated Birthday to Dexter X

Swimming today, think she swallowed half the pool. Two bouts of projectile vomit followed whilst conveniently in Sainsbury's resulting in purchase of new clothes as I only had one spare set. Oh and very unhappy vomit sprayed UGG boots!! ugg haters, i know! but they are so comfy

meringuesnowflakes33 · 08/01/2014 18:51

Poly I'm with you...

Feeling v black about nursery today. He loved it yesterday then hated it again today. Head v unhelpfully asked if I had a contingency plan for Fri (my first day back) in case he was distressed... No I don't!

It's all bad timing. Two weeks of holiday (departure from routine), plus he has a nasty cough plus has started teething like mad again and not sleeping (except during the day in bed with me when he could nap for hours and hours).

I did ask bloody nursery if we should cut holiday short to do more settling in last week but they said not to worry Hmm.

Polyethyl · 08/01/2014 23:11

Yes I have gone back full time. Day 3 of work today and I was handed back a file which has been left untouched for the year I've been away!
Meanwhile childminder says baby was happy enough without me, but when baby saw me at collection time there was a storm of furious tears. I must admit that I pacified her by putting her in her sling, pulling my coat and draping my scarf around her and feeding her as we walked home. She was cheerful enough after a monster feed.

salt1 · 09/01/2014 09:23

having a catch up. lolli u have made me laigh and a little wee came out.....

Pascha · 09/01/2014 09:50

Good luck those of you back at work this week. I slightly miss working. Off to Dan's first swimming class now.
