As I so frivolously finished the last thread, I thought I'd better start a new one. Go!

*Cameron

Dan isn't really interested in his toys either Lost, he's currently cruising round the stepstool while happily hitting it with my hairbrush. A sea of noisy plastic stuff remains ignored.

bugsyclaus · 29/12/2013 20:10

thanks for all of your messages. unfortunately we didn't make it to see her (had a three hour drive and apparently missed her by 5 minsSad ). however I was glad we had gone as we were there for my parents when it happened.

on reflection I am glad that the end was quick when it came. she was in her 90s and suffering from dementia and her quality of life was gone.

bugsyclaus · 29/12/2013 20:12

ps sorry for the gloomy post, happy birthday to Cameron

Lostbaubles · 29/12/2013 22:40

Awww Bugsy such a shame you missed her but good for her to be at peace now. Condolences again x

Apples, yay go Ivy. Grin my DD1 loves watching Lois walk as well.

Still can't get my head around her being 1 in a couple of weeks don't want my baby to grow up but I do want her to bloody well go to sleep and stay asleep until morning!Confused

glorious · 30/12/2013 07:12

Sorry you didn't get there in time bugs Sad

meringue I'm jealous of the newborn! I was thinking of wuxiapian the other day, she must be due soon.

Go Ivy!. Ellen says she's desperate to join you!

BuntyandherMassiveGlitteryCoil · 30/12/2013 07:49

Sometimes, bugsy I feel that those who leave us do so at a time of their choosing. My papa hung on until my granny, who'd been by his side for hours and hours, left to quickly grab a shower. Maybe he didn't want you upset by being there? So sorry for your loss. :(

Thanks for all the birthday wishes, we had a lovely first birthday! Can't believe my littlest babe is one.

lollipoppi · 30/12/2013 08:27

So sorry about your nan Bugsy Thanks

Happy birthdays to X and C hope you all had a lovely day

Yay on the walking Ivy!
They're all growing up so fast!

No plans for New Years here, we might just have a few drinks in our local, or stay in and consume some of the ridicules amounts of alcohol our suppliers gave us over Christmas!

I really need to get out the house today and get some fresh air, but it's peeing down with rain and blowing a gale Hmm

TheHollyandtheIvyCrumples · 30/12/2013 12:38

bunty i agree. My grandad did the same, the one time mum left the hospital he went. My great aunt held on to enjoy her 101st birthday party and then when everyone had gone she just went to sleep.

Hope you are okbugsy. May she rest in peace now x

Ivy is getting quite confident now and we keep finding her standing in the middle of rooms as if shes just working up to tottering off...and then she does! Everytime she does it ds2 come running to tell me! Hes very proud :)

newbie6 · 30/12/2013 17:35

Hi all,

Sorry to hear about your gran bugsy.

My LO is on antibiotics for a cold, cough but I'm a bit confused as the doctor who prescribed them said 2.5ml every 8 hrs but forgot to tell me for how many days so the pharmacist told me to check at the surgery today. I did that and my usual doctor told me 2.5ml 3 times a day so morning, noon and night for 7 days but I'm now confused as if I do that, I'm not leaving 8 hrs between doses? I obviously don't want to wake him late at night if I do 8 hrs 3 times, has anyone else given antibiotics and if so, did you just do the 2.5ml 3 times a day??

Thanks!

Pascha · 30/12/2013 18:22

I would do first thing on waking, last thing before bed and once in the middle. So that would be 6.30-7am, about 2pm and about 7pm. Its good enough spaced like that.

Hope he's better soon.

Potty training going Confused and Hmm here. DS1 definitely wants pants and not nappy (hooray!) and is very good at going for a wee whenever he needs to (hooray!) but will not contemplate doing a poo anywhere but his pants (not hooray!). Won't use the loo or potty, won't put a nappy on, won't do it with nothing on, even on the bathroom floor. So we have poo pants once a day. Any of you who've done this with older kids, how do we get him to go on the loo?

TheHollyandtheIvyCrumples · 30/12/2013 20:25

pascha i seem to remember ds1 being like that. He (obviously) no longer does this but i cannot remember what we did! Sorry thats not helpful but thought it may help to know it gets better! Will have a think but it was a long time ago..

Would a sticker/ reward chart help maybe?

Dd1 went to party this afternoon. We gor back late so bedtime ended up being later than normal. She is over tired and screaming. I refuse to engage and am on mn and doing cross stitch :(

Cejay8 · 30/12/2013 20:57

Not had chance to catch up with the thread but wanted to say that Ds1 was the same with potty training (daily poo in pants only!) and what seemed to help was a video on YouTube called Poo Land - something seemed to click and no more poo accidents!

Dd is 11 months and still hasn't rolled and doesn't crawl! She just sits and watches her brother! Beginning to worry a little....

Posting from my iPad so can't scroll down to read posts :(

newbie6 · 30/12/2013 22:22

Thank you pascha

Pascha · 30/12/2013 23:32

Thanks for that, Cejay I'm going to YouTube that tomorrow with him andsee how we go. And thanks Apples as well for giving me hope. It feels a bit desperate here right now.

Does your dd try to pull up Cejay? there's a little girl at playgroup who sat still as anything while her twin brother was roaming all over the place. Now aged 2 you can't seethe difference even though there was about 8 months between him walking and her walking.

lollipoppi · 31/12/2013 08:43

Newbie DD was on antibs a couple of weeks ago and we did 7am 1pm and 7pm hope she is feeling better soon

Pascha, have you let you DS watch DH do a poo and flush it away to Pooland Grin sounds crazy but it worked for DS, it's really funny now as every time DS sees DP go to the toilet he claps his hand and says "well done daddy, your such a big boy" GrinGrin still makes me laugh every time!!

Cejay, I wouldn't worry too much, my little brother did exactly the same, he never crawled just went straight to walking, he is currently in France working on the slopes so defo no lasting development problems!

Cejay8 · 31/12/2013 19:50

No, dd has not tried to pull herself up and isn't that keen on weight bearing when I hold her. The HV sent me to the GP to get her hips checked and she has now been referred but I'm guessing she'll be walking before we get an appointment!Smile. DS was crawling at 9 months but he's always had ants in his pants and hasn't stopped moving since! so I'm actually enjoying dd's stillness.

Happy new year everyone Wine what a year it's been! Certainly been the hardest year of my life, but by far the best. Back to paid work again very soon Sad

glorious · 01/01/2014 06:58

Happy New Year!

I've been awake for most of it so far as E will not stop feeding Sad She was 11 months yesterday so don't think it's classic growth spurt / regression territory but I may be wrong. She would choose the night I decided to put the fourth side on the cot (sick of being headbutted now she can crawl).

No advice on poo - not looking forward to that!

What are you cross stitching apples ?

BuntyandherMassiveGlitteryCoil · 01/01/2014 10:46

Happy birthday, Ivy, and happy new year everyone!

newbie6 · 01/01/2014 11:30

Happy new year!

And happy birthday ivy!

Right, it's MMR time soon (sorry to mention it :() - when are people planning to get it done, is it meant to be as soon as possible after they turn 1?

Also, anyone know of any good guidance on how to stop bf? I'm not 100% sure I'm going to yet but want to start at least planning how to.
