I broke the old thread! Step this way, step this way.

curlyclaz13 · 22/12/2013 21:37

we have a variation on last night's waking then not going to sleep, taking 1 3/4 hour to go to sleep ! I had a dinner break halfway and we watched waybuloo which does have a calming effect. I suck at this at the moment.

pinkbear82 · 23/12/2013 07:13

Curly it's not you! I can pretty much guarantee you are doing a fantastic job. Trouble is these small humans don't come with a manual and have such stubbornness it's unbelievable. So repeat after me... I am a totes amazeballs mummy and I rock at what I do... Now if nothing else that made you smile Wink

Merry Christmas Eve Eve everyone, and a great big festive cheer for the last 6 months or so of being mummies and doing a fab job.

Mrs81 · 23/12/2013 08:06

Smile I'll join Pinkbear with her pompoms...
We are all doing an amazing job! It's not always straightforward but we know our babies don't always make it easy.
We often joke at home that DH was given the manual with all the other leaflets in hospital but accidentally recycled it before I was discharged. (a little like how he put ds's hospital name tags through the wash...whilst ds & I were still in hospital Grin You wouldn't believe the chaos that caused!!)

Hope you feel a bit better this am Curly. x

pinkapples · 23/12/2013 08:08

Pinkbear I couldn't have said it better myself Grin well done us!

Just a quick one on routines at the minute what's everyone doing or not doing? Little Theiah is on her own planet and yesterday slept pretty much all day with 4 naps in the day!! That never happens!

curlyclaz13 · 23/12/2013 08:21

Thanks pinkbear ! you did make me smile and cry a bit . I think some sleep would help me I don't think I have had a block of sleep over four hours for about 9 months !
We have pretty much no routine but usually he gets at least one am nap and one around 3.30 pm. my plan while OH is off is to Sort Out A Routine and Make Lists . and admit I need to sort full time child care Sad

SunnyL · 23/12/2013 09:40

Morning ladies.

Gosh Arlandria. Yes it must have been a tough few months and I'm sure being a single parent is hard but you've done the best for your little boy. DH is a policeman and he comes home and tells me about children growing up in dysfunctional houses. Every time I wish I could rescue the little ones from their fucked up parents. You've done the best thing ever and rescued Elliot before he knows any different.

Curly - it will get better and over the festive period you need to make sure you get a break. Use friends and family to help you get your feet up (and 40 winks).

We've had a very busy weekend which might explain why Lily is sleeping so well at night. Yesterday we went to see the Singing Kettle (Scottish folk will know what that is) and the wee might passed out in the middle for about 20 minutes. That is despite about 100 children dancing and singing around her.

Today we're off to nursery for 4 hours. They are going to try to get her to nap at nursery. Good luck to them!!

rrreow · 23/12/2013 11:42

Sorry to hear that Arlandria. It sounds like you made the right decision, although I can imagine it wasn't an easy one to make.

Z has also been doing this not going to sleep thing. It's so weird. He'll have his going to sleep feed, sleep for about 20 minutes and then wake up crying inconsolably. Get him up with us and all of a sudden he's an all singing all dancing baby with energizer batteries. The other day I thought I'd just get into my pyjamas and go to bed at the same time as him, but it STILL happened! So it wasn't a waking up alone issue. Last night he slept from bedtime till 11pm though (and then slept OKish in the night, but still 1-2 hourly wakeups most of the night) so at least I had the evening to myself. Makes me go crazy when I don't have any time to myself in the evenings, I feel like I'm just here to serve other people... Hmm

In exciting news, he's finally actually also ingesting the food he's been smearing around his face (and in his hair). Cue stinky nappies!! Timing is still a problem here. He'll just have any meal that he's awake for. So yesterday he had three meals, but sometimes he has no meals at all. I'm sure he'll just make it up through his milk feeds when needed.

Potty training DS1 for the past 2 days has been interesting! Was going great on day 1 until he had about 3 accidents in the space of 1 hour. But today we found out why.. we found an empty Fruit Shoot on the windowsill behind the curtain! So he'd had two of them within about 30 minutes. So must've been peeing for England. Second day went better (although one poo accident.. but luckily I was still in bed and DH had to deal with that Grin). Today he's gone to nursery in pants, so fingers crossed!!

Sorry I tend to write novels! I should be working!

Well looks like my xmas is going to be slightly different as I think dd1 is coming down with chicken pox which I'm sure means dd2 will get it to! Was supposed to be spending xmas day with family but quite a few of them are in the high risk category so wont be doing that, I suppose I better go food shopping :-(

AlohaMama · 23/12/2013 14:33

Arlandria that must have been a tough decision to make but well done for being brave. Hope this new year is a fresh start for you and Elliott.

Madame, hope its a mild case, what bad timing to get the pox.

Pinkapples we get up at 6-6:30, nap at 8 (1.5 h), 12 (2-2.5h) and 3:30/4 (45 main), bed at 6:30. There,s a bit of flex if she has a short morning nap cos of going out or waking up early I might put her down a bit earlier for the next, and if her first two naps aren't long we start nap 3 sooner as she might sleep for 1.5 h and then we're waking her up just for bath and bed which seems a bit ridiculous!

Well done on potty training rreow. Are you following a book or particular method. I think our ds are the same age, we tried and failed in the summer, though I bottled after a few hours as we were living with my parents and their brand new cream carpets. We will try again in Jan.

hedgehogy · 23/12/2013 15:57

Sorry you've been going through such a tough time, Arlandria. You've made the right decision for you and your little boy.

Oh no, Madame!

MadameJ · 23/12/2013 17:55

Well now I'm really not sure.....dd1 has had a high temp for 2 days, reported pox at nursery and what looked like the start of spots, however after her nap the spots have gone and her temp is fine so I am clueless??

curlyclaz13 · 23/12/2013 19:50

fingers crossed it comes to nothing madame.
We have had food tonight and done bedtime a bit earlier to see if that helps with sleep tonight.
OH was sent home early for Christmas today so a bonus full day tomorrow which should mean I can finish the prep for Christmas dinner. Smile

curlyclaz13 · 24/12/2013 08:32

Well we had a normal night again, no fussing so maybe the change from routine had thrown him out ! he is sleeping now so I should get on with the stuff for tomorrow but am being lazy !

arlandria666 · 24/12/2013 17:24

Thanks for all the supportive words :)
Happy Christmas to you all bet all these first Christmas babies are going to be totally spoilt :) xxxx

MrsBri · 24/12/2013 17:29

Our front room is stuffed with presents for Amy!

Happy Christmas to everyone...and first Christmas excitement for our little ones. Exciting.

Sarah2506 · 24/12/2013 18:34

Just found out I got promoted! Pulling that off on maternity leave feels like a massive achievement as my head was so far away! What a great Christmas present:-)

Loads of toys wrapped here. Suspect will be thoroughly sick of all of them by this time tomorrow!

DontmindifIdo · 24/12/2013 21:25

Well done Sarah!

Pressies wrapped, stockings done.

Wine in mummy and cake out of the oven cooling before being iced (we have a birthday tomorrow, I completely forgot to make or buy a cake)

MadameJ · 25/12/2013 03:37

Well done Sarah, that's a great achievement.

Hope you are all fast asleep dreaming of Santa, Merry Christmas to you all xx

Olimoss · 25/12/2013 08:07

Merry Xmas everybody! enjoy with your most excellent babies.....

Got a dreadful feeling Joe is going to get more presents than anyone else and that's even with me not buying him a single one AND boyfriend's family have some inexplicable, godawful tradition of not opening pressies till after the Queen's Speech. Appalling.

I've begun celebrations by putting a load of washing on.

pours a breakfast champagne

MrsBri · 25/12/2013 10:13

Happy Christmas everyone!

Sarah, congratulations. Excellent present. When do you go back to work? Bet you're excited to go back now after all the uncertainty before / after you left for mat leave.

Oli, it's the same here for Amy, stacks of pressies and a handful for us combined!

We are also doing a load of washing as Amy has a while new wardrobe. It's all very exciting. :-)

I think you need to start your own tradition of opening presents ASAP though!

pinkbear82 · 25/12/2013 16:34

Happy Christmas all! Hope you are having fab days x

curlyclaz13 · 26/12/2013 16:00

Congratulations on the promotion sarah ! Hope you all had a good day yesterday and dc were all spoilt ! Saying that we didn't go too mad and his favourite seems to be the cheap set of stacking cups !

MadameJ · 26/12/2013 18:31

Shitty xmas here, dd1 is so poorly infact dh is at the ooh docs with her at the moment. I'm now worried about what I'm gonna do if they admit her because obviously I'm going to want to be with her but obviously dd2 still bfs through the night and wouldn't settle for anyone else even if there was someone to ask. This is all too hard :-(

pinkbear82 · 26/12/2013 19:12

Madame sending hugs.

MadameJ · 26/12/2013 20:04

Thanks pinkbear. They have let dd come home but we need to see how she is tomorrow so I'm keeping my fingers crossed she manages to get some sleep tonight and feels a bit better tomorrow. It's such a shame as it's her bday on Saturday and we have had to cancel her little party :-(
