arlandria666 - DD is formula fed and is having 4-5 bottles a day (depending on mood) - ignore your HV!

(Don'tmind here with NC, realised I hadn't NCed for a while and promised myself previously I'd do it regularly)

We are still on 5 bottles a day. But DD really isn't eating much food. And I'm not planning on starving her.

And I thought milk was meant to be the main nutrition til they're 1? So why the hurry to cut down on feeds anyway?

We have 2 night wake ups if you count the 11pm one (when DH is still up, so not really counted!). Sometimes only 1, but teething is buggering it all about.

I'm glad you're happy, arlandria :-) Your DS looks very happy on all the photos I've seen!

We've had nappy issues too. And dd feeds loads some days and then other days isn't interested. Guess we have hungry days and they do too.

It sounds like I should be looking into vitamins for her

We have nappy wraps so could give that a shot. Managed to do a nappy change early enough tonight to avoid full vest/sleepsuit/sleeping bag change but I don't want wet nappies to be what wakes him up. Sleep is precious enough as it is!

Our feeds are dropping a bit but then some days she eats a lot of solids. Whats really scary is the reduction of daytime naps. Yesterday the ratbag only slept once. ONCE!! I was on my knees by bedtime. Id had my afternoon planned to sit on the sofa watching tv eating junk food do housework but little monster just wanted entertaining. This nursery has a lot to answer for!

Sunny, I envy the fact that you HAD naps - we seldom get more than 40 mins for a nap, and often only once. Housework is very hard! DS is very into food - he has porridge plus half a banana mashed each morning, then something like scrambled egg and a yogurt for lunch and then maybe mashed veg, some ham, and fruit for tea!! He's on a mix of breast and bottle, and prob has 3 bottles per 24 hrs. He goes to sleep at 730ish and is up either once or twice between then and 8am.
Glad things are good with you, arlandria!

well we officially have a crawler. commando crawling, but crawling nevertheless. now it means she can reach all of ds's toys with small sharp bits to shove in her mouth, great!

Glad you're doing well arlandria.

We're giving vitamin supplements as advised, as baby is bf. We were told if baby is bf they're needed from 6mths, if formula fed from a year. It's due to the need for vitamin D, which you can't get enough of from food.

DD has suddenly started eating more at mealtimes. Surprising what she can eat with no teeth (I can't believe they're still not through, she's been teething for ages)!

The water here doesn't have fluoride in it; we were told that not much of the uk has fluoridated water nowadays. The HV just said to be extra careful about giving sugary foods because of this, and that the only drink other than milk that babies should be having is tap water at mealtimes (DD really likes this now - she's a bottle refuser but will drink water from the free flow cups we were given).

DD still naps after a couple of hours of being awake - and still on me!

MaryWestmacott · 08/02/2014 10:52

Vit d supplements too? Can I not just take her out in the sunshine? (I'm such a lazy parent!)

Dd is crawling very fast, and is pulling herself up/wanting to stand- I'm concerned, ds didn't do this until closer to 10 months, then he did first steps at 12 months, walking properly at 15months. If she's pulling up early I really hope that doesn't mean she's walking early...

What age are the crawlers?

Hi! May I join in please?

My DD is now crawling around, which is lovely. However, she is a really poor water.

Hi! May I join in! Smile

My DD is on vitamin d too. She's not a keen eater at all though, even though we are doing BLW. She has milk and soya allergy, so I'm not sure if that is playing a part too. She has about half tsp for each meal!!

Hello gingermaman!

DD is 8 months (was born 4th June), she's been crawling for over a month, started going backwards at 5 months. I think she's doing it early though, DS was a lot slower, perhaps she's just trying to keep up with him?!?

Report
hedgehogy · 08/02/2014 14:53

I guess it depends where you live, Mary! The sun isn't strong enough in the UK at this time of year (and when it is I'd be keeping DD in the shade or covered in sunscreen). Baby vitamins all contain vitamin D as that's the one that they are often deficient in.

Welcome GingerMaman :) . We started weaning two months ago and DD's only just started to eat more so I wouldn't worry about it yet.

DD is never going to crawl, she still hates being on her tummy (she gets distressed straight away).

Welcome GingerMaman!

M is 8 1/2, coming up 9 months old (b 16 May). He's more interested in pulling up the last few days, although he does finally seem to have got his arms and legs coordinated for crawling :o he's got a turn of speed on him, too!

Report
pinkbear82 · 09/02/2014 08:34

Lots of attempts at crawling here, no actual success yet. Although she does have a bouncy shuffle going on when sat up. Covered half the front room this way the other day.

My mum was rushed into hospital last night, looks like a mini stroke. I knew the stress of everything would take its toll. At the moment her speech is affected and her memory. Although she has some limb numbness she seems to be able to function. A waiting game now to see how recovery goes. Have a horrible feeling it's all going to overlap dad's heart surgery on the 25 and both will be more stressed. Sad I have contemplated hibernating, apparently this isn't an option. Thank goodness we don't need to rush sorting anything else after Gran's death. 2014 best show some improvements soon!

Welcome newbies, I don't usually rant so much! I don't think Wine/Brew and cake for us all.

Pinkbear, so sorry to hear about your mum. You are having a really rough time. Xx

So sorry to hear about your mum and everything else that's going on, pinkbear. My grandmother has had two mini strokes and has made a brilliant (speedy) recovery both times so fingers crossed that it's the same for your mum.

pinkbear sorry to hear about your mum, hope she makes a speedy recovery.
Ds is nearly 8months (born 12 june) and started crawling over Christmas, commando style and is bloody quick ! He is pulling himself up on stuff too, mainly me though and apparently my boobs make great hand holds !.
I am supposed to be back at work on March 6th but my boss is causing real issues still, refused any flexible working then tried to reduce my pay by £2.5k and now she has not responded to emails in the last two weeks regarding the fact she can't cut my pay. I have to go back as we will can not afford to loose the income and now I am worried she is trying to get rid of me somehow. I know legally she shouldn't be able to but I don't know why she is making it so difficult.

Pink, I'm so sorry to hear about your mum. I hope she recovers very soon. xx

Curly, you need to either call ACAS or get an appt with the CAB ASAP. You only have 3 months from the date of the breach to make an employment tribunal claim, so you need to get advice fast. (I'm not saying you want to claim, but in some circumstances you end up having to, which is why you need proper advice.)

curlyclaz13 · 09/02/2014 15:47

Thankfully I have legal cover with a professional body I am a member of and I am already in touch with a solicitor. But it is her lack of response that is bothering me. I need to know where I stand asap. We have run out of savings now so I have to start earning again soon. I have a feeling she is hoping I find another job so I leave and she can hire at the lower pay. Problem is I have been looking but can't find anything.

Hi everyone can I rejoin?
I was here initially, then nc'd, lost you guys but found you again.
I'll try to read back all your threads to catch up.
DS was born 19th June.
We're not crawling yet, and no teeth but very dribbly and new nappy rash so not sure if that's linked to teeth.
Weaning going kind of well, not too keen on lumps so prefers jars which is annoying me but we are getting there slowly.
On other news, I'm 5wks pg too. Soo Fx as we had 3mcs before ds.
Hope everyone is well and I'll try to catch up as much as ds will allow I can

Curly, can't your solicitor elicit a response with a letter? I wouldn't bother with tiptoeing round the stupid cow!

I hope you get it resolved ASAP.

SweetPea, I don't know what your name was before, I don't think, but welcome back! Your DS is 4 days older than my DD. :-) We have a lump issue too, though we do have two teeth and more on the way, judging by the no napping, grumbly, misery of a baby we have.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. Fx for a sticky one. :-)

I'm also pregnant again, but I'm 14 weeks, so a bit ahead of you. There'll be 13 months between mine!

Have you told many people or will you keep it quiet til 12 weeks?

Report
SweetPeaPods · 09/02/2014 23:15

Mrs Bri it was Littlemiss before I think.
Congratulations! We haven't told anyone yet, but have a scan in a couple of weeks so will prob tell parents after that.
