Free childcare. Hmm, realised recently that DS being born 8th April, doesn't get his free nursery hours till he's 3.5 which is a pain in the butt. Our 2 are 26 months apart. Not sure if any age-gap is easy but I didn't want to leave it too long. So far I'd say the age gap is working ok, but would've been nice if DS could have been out of nappies before DD arrived. Tbh we were aiming for a bigger gap but didnt' realise it would all happen so quickly.

Thanks for the advice on the bumbo, will start researching 2nd hand options.

Pink I'm on Weight Watchers. I dont go to meetings but do it via an app. So far Ive lost 2.5stones in 18 months - 10 of which I wasnt following it because I was pregnant. Feel like Im eating tonnes at the moment and still losing a pound every week or two.

Only 3 wake ups last night with the first one at midnight. Is that a chink of light at the end of the tunnel??

London Ladies did we say 1230 tomorrow? In John Lewis? Is there only one cafe? Is it obvious? Look forward to seeing you there. I have a brown and beige bugaboo chameleon. I'm five eight. I look tired. I live in a grey hoodie which has sick on it so maybe I will make an effort and not wear it:-) My child has hair that permanently sticks up. Hopefully you will be able to spot us based on that!

12.30pm in John Lewis at the cafe on the top floor (I think it's called The Place to Eat). It's one of those self-service style places with a lot of seats & room for buggies.

I'm 5'4, dark brown hair, also look extremely tired, and will be carrying my baby in a stripey wrap. Grin

Are you going to tell each other your real names? I'd pay money to see the face of the person sat next to you as you refer to each other as Rrreow and Sarah2506. Smile

Sarah2506 · 23/10/2013 16:04

The wonders of Facebook mean I already know Rrreows real name and mine isn't really a surprise:-) Oli however... She's either an Aussie called Olivia or a thirty stone random internet weirdo called Oliver who has moss growing on him from sitting on the internet stalking all of us:-)

Report
Olimoss · 23/10/2013 16:08

It's the latter. Shit,

In reality I'm 5'6" with boobs that, tragically, no longer overshadow my gut. Usually messy brown hair. Grey iCandy. Male infant. Often look pissed off. Unless it's raining I'll wear some spotty shoes.

Enjoy your lunch London Ladies !
I rearranged the living room today while OH took Osk for a walk, later with Osk asleep on me I thought I could hear Flump (cat) purring sat on the windowsill behind me but couldn't see him. A few minutes later Flump walks in the cat flap. It was Oscar making a purring noise in his sleep ! tiny little baby snores I guess.

I'm loving these descriptions :-)

Enjoy yourself tomorrow. Have lots of cake.

I've been to lunch with another MNer today from a TTC thread last year. It was lovely to get out and about.

Amy is snoring on my lap after day 2 of weaning. She loves banana it seems. Once I've got my arse into gear we will move on to carrot and apple. She was shoving the spoon in her mouth earlier and putting her hands in the bowl. Nice.

I love the name of your cat, curly!

Curly my childhood nickname was Flump. Apparently I went in the huff a lot as a child. In my defence I was the youngest of 3 and my brother is immensely annoying.

I think we should arrange a massive thread meet up around their first birthdays! Great in theory. But i guess quite difficult in practice.

Cool that you stayed in touch with someone from your TTC days MrsBri. I remember you saying you don't really know people in your area? Has that changed now? One of the things I've liked most about maternity leave has been getting to know local people. I've never had friends locally before. That's a London thing- home is just where you sleep. But now I've a far few women I can just drop in on!

Report
MrsBri · 23/10/2013 21:53

I'll let you organise that one, Sarah! :-)

And no, not really. I've been REALLY crap at going to baby groups to be honest, so it's my own fault. I should try harder.

It's easier now Amy doesn't have the tummy troubles as she's a more contented baby, so she doesn't cry constantly.

I'm in touch with a few people from TTC, but this person is the only one I've met as we live close enough to manage it. :-)

I've got really harsh OV pains today. I'd forgotten how bad I get them.

It's finally meant to be nice weather tomorrow. Hopefully we will get out for a while.

Oh, does anyone else suffer with their GP surgery being thick? Boots keeps putting a repeat prescription in for Amy's lactose free formula and the surgery keeps telling them they had it last week so wont be providing a prescription. It's food, you idiots. We get it. Amy eats it. We need more.

I love the descriptions for the meet tomorrow! You just all need a pink flower or something and your set. Wink

Spent the day helping my parents pack away a lot of my gran's things. She's 93 and still in her own house, but has recently started to get trouble with her legs and finding the stairs hard. So we have now moved her bedroom downstairs. I kindly requested that my parents get rid if their crap before popping it, as an only child, I am not looking forward to the sorting I will inevitably encounter one day. Dd was a star and happily entertain her great gran.

Wedding on Friday for my BFF, best fit in the bloody bridesmaid dress! Confused

Pinkbear- I hope the rejigging & packing went okay. And who knows, it might have given your parents a nudge!

Enjoy the London meetup ladies Smile (Does anyone else wish they could be a fly on the wall as you try and identify each other??!)

Mrsbri- how are you finding it, not knowing many people? We live outside of town and whilst I'm forcing myself to go to local baby groups (Bookbug at library etc) the choices are limited, cafes are a rare breed. I'm finding it a slow process... Mind you, I've plenty of mummy friends in town but I don't always want to do the hr travel to get there!

Mrs, sometimes I really mind. More before I was pregnant actually as I didn't have anyone I could just go to see / go for a drink with. DH didn't get it either, that he had 'options' where I had none.

While I was pregnant I didn't care about going out. Now I have DD I like being with her.

I think I've got used to it having been here for 5 years now. It'd be weird having people locally!

Report
Mrs81 · 24/10/2013 11:40

That's good that you've essentially got used to it. Its amazing how much having children shifts the priorities and the things that used to matter become but a distant thought...

AlohaMama · 24/10/2013 13:32

Hope all the ladies are having/had fun in London. I wonder how the reality matches the online impressions!?

Having an ok day here but I still find myself suprised by how little it is possible to get done with a baby and a toddler. I try and set myself low expectations for the day, but even those can't be acheived! Must start to set my sights even lower.

Well, Sarah turned out to be a hairy trucker called Al and Oli was indeed a thirty stone random internet weirdo called Oliver who has moss growing on him. They were really nice though. Do you think it was OK when I let them hold Z?

Nice Rrreow!

Well another good weight gain this week. The HV has suggested only going every 2 weeks for weigh ins now and is really happy with how she is looking.

The bad news is my 2 week headache has ramped up a notch today. Think my chronic lack of sleep is catching up with me.

Yippee for the weight gain Sunny!

Now the clocks go back this weekend. Are people doing anything to prepare/help babies' body clocks for it? Or is it not that big an issue? Or, option c, pretend its not happening and just not change the clocks?? Grin

When we came back from Greece there was a 2 hour time difference. It took us a couple of days by pushing her bedtime back by 15 minutes each day. There was nothing we could do about the morning. The child just wakes up of her own accord.

We're off to the Lakes this weekend as part of a large group (18 of us). Hoping that DHs parents might kidnap her in the morning as they are early risers.

Report
Mrs81 · 25/10/2013 08:10

Righto. Thank you. Think I'll push bedtime back a bit tonight and tomorrow so that come Sunday its not such a shock (in theory!).

Hope your headaches ease off Sunny and the weekend away goes well Smile
