Hope you don't mind me starting a new thread as once again, birthday season has begun and the first of our October babies are turning 2! Would be lovely to hear from everyone past and present
Ill try copy over all the stats again when I'm next on the laptop.

Just over 3 weeks till DS turns 2. He'll be in nursery on the day itself, though it's half term week for me so will be able to go out as a family later in the week on DH's day off.

Went to a NNS this morning. Got Seb a keyboard. Best £4 spent for ages. I'm sure I'll get fed up with it before he does!

Can't believe this time two years ago I was going on Maternity leave....

Happy birthday A and E

DS has green snot streaming from hisnose - first cold of the season. I cannot take another winter of bugs like last year (I had 5 bouts of flu, all courtesy of DS!). Tell me it won't be as bad this year! Last year was first year in nursery so am hoping it will be better this year.

I hope it will be better this year eng it's the second nursery winter for them so they must have a better immunity to nursery bugs (please please please) W has the sniffles at the moment too though!

I thought I'd make an appearance again. I was on the antenatal board and early on on the post natal, but then somehow stopped posting. New thread has inspired me to start again.

As a reminder of who I am: I was one of the last ones on the thread to give birth and had my little boy F on 7th November. I also have a girl M who is 3.

Me, DP and kids live in Germany but used to live in the UK. DP is English.

All okay here. Both kids in nursery now and have been since April for 6 hours a day. I'm really enjoying doing some work (working from home).

I am also terrified of another winter of bugs. Mine haven't even been in nursery in winter but have been constantly sick pretty much from October last year till May. Please, don't tell me it will get worse.

Anyway, just thought I would pop back in and will try and keep up better this time.

Engels, I'm sure you won't get it as bad this year fingers crossed!! S cold seems to be finally going. I think a lot of it was to do with the sudden drop in temp. Went from warm to freezing overnight . S party this Sunday and I've heard it's to be warm so I'm crossing everything!!

Spent this morning baking birthday cake. Cheated a little this year and bought pre made mix . It's out to cool then into freezer till Saturday when ill take it out, cut and decorate for Sunday. Feeling organised, got my little list of all the jobs that need doing through the week.

S said 'I love you mummy' for the first time unprompted this morning. I swear my heart melted

Hi All, I've also been inspired to rejoin the thread thanks to the FB post. I was bilbli0 with little boy S and his big sister B. I'm the one with the unusual real name on FB too.

We've got 3 weeks to go till birthday season. DH's birthday is just after too. We've just got an appointment for DD to have 6 teeth taken out 3 days before S's birthday. 4 rotten molars, and 2 wobbly teeth which need to come out at the same time for safety. I'm mortified. I've not got any fillings. I feel like such a terrible mother. At least they're baby teeth.

S is doing well, he's a ridiculously happy pleasant boy most of the time. In the past couple of months he seems to have finally got the gist of sleeping. He sleeps through more often than not now (although he woke at 5:30 this morning), and he'll usually go to bed at a reasonable hour, but if he has even 10 minutes sleep during the day he'll not sleep. We stopped letting him have daytime naps at about 16months. I'm still feeding him to sleep at night. He'll take himself up to bed when he's tired, he just hasn't learnt to fall asleep without boob or complete exhaustion... one day....

What are people getting for birthday presents? I'm completely stumped. Someone gave him some megablocks recently which he loves, so I've seen a big truck which stores them too. I'm pondering a balance bike but we've 2 trikes already and very limited space outside.

Engels I had exactly the same thought the other day, last winter was so bad for E constantly ill am praying he'll have a better immune system this time round.

Annie I've ordered pirate ship and castle for E from smyths toys waiting for it to arrive.

Mummy that is adorable can't wait until E can tell me how much he loves me not needy at all

I need to figure out a way of E sleeping through again he's started waking in night and crying until I go in, find dummy and lie him flat again. It's at least once every night sometimes 2-3 times. Not sure if the answer is lots of dummies in cot or to try and get rid of dummy.... Anyone any ideas?

duck Ahhh, so that she said that. You must be over the moon. Well done for being so organised for her birthday!

Annie So far I've got little bits and pieces for his birthday. Like a jigsaw puzzle of a tractor, two tractor books, wall stickers with farm stuff (including tractrors, notice a theme?) and I will try and make tractor bunting for his room. I also got him a little wooden work bench with tools and I'm researching how to make tractor cakes. I don't think he's gonna get that much more though. He loves tractors and books and will be very happy with these pressies, I think.

Killa I'm sure the right answer is to get rid of the dummy, but what works for us at the moment is loads of dummies in his cot, some of them glow in the dark ones...

Killa - s was starting to wake a lot and having a meltdown when she couldn't find her dummy. Since we got rid, if she does wake, its only for seconds and she's put herself back to sleep again as she isn't looking for a dummy again. It honestly wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.. She had one really awful first day without but adapted really quick.

Sorry I've been away so long.
Update on us... Mhairi will be 2 in just over a month (she was one of the last to be born I think)
She seems to be picking up new words all the time now, despite being late to start talking.
Christopher is now 4 so will be going to school next year
The kids are on the whole getting on well together and can be so cute when playing together, although they do have their moments.
Re birthday presents mhairi has a doc mcstuffins theme to her birthday this year so she has the doctors bag and dress up costume and I also got her a dolls pram.
duck I'm so jealous can't wait till Mhairi can say she loves me :)

I would probably go for the lots of dummies option killa but we've just (pretty painlessly) stopped daytime dummies by saying they are for sleep only so will probably let W self stop them at night. tbh I think he's half there anyway he often doesn't have one in when he wakes up, does sometimes wake up looking for it though.

Hey ed glad things are ok. I think M's birthday is close to W's he's the 27th Oct. it's amazing how they seem to be picking up new words every day isn't it!

We have some cars and a puzzle for A, and some duplo which will either be his birthday or Christmas present depending on how much he gets from the grandparents! He's 2 on the 6th, so just a little over a week. It's come around quickly! My sister who's really good with cakes has agreed to make him one this year, as I am so pregnant and tired at the moment the thought wears me out, and he loves cake so really don't want him to miss out.

I'm 39 weeks tomorrow and feeling very very crampy and tired today, so am of course wondering "is this it?" knowing that this discomfort could last a while or that I might feel great tomorrow again! I have really enjoyed my maternity leave so far though (have been off work over a month), especially all the extra time I've had with A.

Hi everyone.

I am heavy and hot and have a breech baby :( (not exactly ideal for hb), our house has been flooded by the boiler down all 3 storeys. On a plus we are getting a new boiler, new ceiling, decorating and carpets on the insurance, on a negative I am sick of a destroyed house and nowhere to lie on the floor to try and practice baby turning positions and P called me a wierdo on Saturday

Wonder how Ips is doing with her No2 ?

P has the Night Garden gang for her Birthday, some pens which you use in the bath/on yourself/tiles etc, an owl hat and a jigsaw clock. I highly recommend The Big Night Night Book for anyone looking for books too - she has had it for ages but it's still one of her favourites.

Engels hope your DH is feeling a bit better recently.

How far are you along now Cheshire? I had a breach baby too but she turned just before 35 weeks. But to P calling you a weirdo!

That sounds like a nightmare chesh hope house is fixed up for you soon and fx that baby turns for you!

W has stopped stammering now it only lasted about a week (just long enough to panic me) I think it coincided with a big language explosion he's chattering away all the time now with new words every day it seems.
He made me smile yesterday when he was trying to sing with 'row row row, polar bear, brrrr' which as his version of the row your boat verse with the polar bear. Was very cute.

Welcome back Trudy, Annie and Ed.

I hear you about not wanting too many colds this year but this household is not off to a good start. Seb has had a cold/snotty nose for a while and then had a virus this week which he passed to all of us. Well I guess we do encourage him to share! I spent Monday clearing up sick.

I would also love to get rid of the dummy. He mainly only has it to sleep or if he's ill but it sometimes does sneak in at other times. We've got some Mam glow in the dark ones for night time. Sometimes they glow and sometimes they've run out of juice. A bit random but OK.

So far only got a few books (NNS but good condition) for his birthday: a set of Amazing Machines books and two with magnets; one 'things that go' (he's got a little version which he loves) and a farm one. Might get him an easel so he can colour easier. We've got a chalk board in the kitchen which he loves drawing on but means one of us has to hold him up and (being a short-arse) I can't do that for long! He loves his crayons too. Not sure what else. He has so many toys already.

Straw Aw, how cute. Seb's favourite is Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Mum pulled out a really old Fisher Price toy record player and one of the records was Twinkle and he kept putting it on saying 'Twingle tar' and flashing his hands. He's got the diamond shape with his fingers down pat! . We were all singing and miming along with it except my dad so he kept saying 'Da-dad (grandad) twingle'

31 weeks now Pene, did you do anything to help her turn? this one is making no attempts :( I worry the longer it stays in this position the less likely it is. I was freaking out before about everything stopping again right at the end, now I have something new to freak out about that never even crossed my mind before

Ha ha just long enough to scare you Strawbs :) Has he gone from stammering to full sentences with a BBC accent now !

Tallulah I always find it so funny when I think about the daft things we do as Parents now, it is probably 30 years or something since I had to sing Twinkle Twinkle and now I have to make pig and sheep noises and sing random songs . I think the author is Georgie Birkett (from memory), fab little book. What about painting a blackboard on a patch of S's bedroom wall at his height then you don't have to hold him up ? P has a magnetic patch on her wall for her alphabet letters.

What cakes are people planning for Birthday's ? I expect pictures on fb of the finished products !
