Lily311 · 05/09/2013 18:27

Fuck det. I have nothing else to say. I'm not ready for a walker. No.

mm great news.

I was in Budapest today to see a friend who came only for a day from London, it was great. O was a superstar, even on the train for 2 hours, she was just happy walking up and down the aisle, playing with her toys. I'm knackered though. She is staying with my parents tomorrow while I go to the theatre with my sister and brother and sister in law. We all bought season tickets.

BigPigLittlePig · 05/09/2013 20:00

Evening all.

Fred really is quiet - only took me 5 minutes to catch up Shock. Unfortunately that doesn't equate to amount of info I've retained. The one thing that stands out though is dets O - bravo that man!

Lily it sounds as though you're managing to keep very busy! I don't know how you fit everything in!

Stunt how have things been? Is dh still helping a bit more?

VQ how is J now?

Chasing I hope you're still enjoying setting up your home - any more info on non-date guy? Any more non-dates?

F just woke herself up sitting up in her sleep. She looked so very confused to find herself upright, bless her. She is such a delight lately. Not that she hasn't always been, but even more so. She doesn't stop smiling from the moment she wakes up. Love love love her.

YellowWellies · 05/09/2013 20:01

Happy cycling MM - wish I'd known you're after a Mac I'm contemplating selling my airbook as I only use the tablet for personal stuff and need to get a beefy desktop for my climate modelling.

I just bought a nipper 360 - brand new from Oxford pram centre for £164.99 - free delivery and free raincover. Couldn't resist. We're making a long weekend of it in the lake district when we collect Betsy from the breeder later this month - quite fancying some autumnal strolls around the lakes and an off road pushchair has been something I've been contemplating for the coastal path especially if we get snow this winter. Its my first impulse buy since my two fat invoices were paid so I'm feeling verr extravagant Smile .

BigPigLittlePig · 05/09/2013 20:06

That sounds lovely YW. My mei tai arrived today, had chance to pop F in it briefly - but am hoping to go out for a walk along the coast path next Wednesday when I finally get a day off rarity lately

Am jealous of all you lot with dogs/puppies. We would so love one but it wouldn't be fair as we're out the house all day. One day, one day!

YellowWellies · 05/09/2013 20:14

BP that's what's put me off for years - if you're out for more than 4-6 hours a day its just cruel having a young dog stuck in the house or pissing off the neighbours - but it felt like the time to do it now as I'm going to be home or working from home for the next 5 years minimum and more if we have DC2. I'm so excited to get her and to meet MM's pup tomorrow! Smile

MissMummy1 · 05/09/2013 20:23

Fab news re the out&about YW - I am a bit jealous!!

The mac was a bit of an impulse buy. It is fairly old (back to the iBook range - I had one of the first ones but think this is the last iBook they made?) and been completely refurbished and upgraded. IT was an absolute bargain and will serve for what I want it for - word, internet browsing and photoshop. I imagine your airbook is waaay out of my pricerange otherwise I would have jumped at the chance!! If you still have it next year I may yet. Smile

Cycle was a success but I am knackered and sooo unfit. and outdid any good with a Chinese for dinner Blush

ChasingDaisy · 05/09/2013 20:38

Hey quiche,

I feel like I have been neglecting you all lately - have no time to post! I get no chance to sit down during the day and the one time I did today I fell asleep!

So, in a nutshell: Still trying to sort flat out, but getting there. O has settled in really well and sleeping fantastically. His best friend and my old neighbour from Norfampton came over yesterday, was so lovely to see the two of them interacting. He is 11 months old and crawling/standing. O loved watching him Smile I'm still finding the daytime a bit hard but really trying to keep busy. Non date guy came round last night. Had a massive heart to heart. There is clearly something special potentially brewing but we are both a little scared so are taking things slowly. I did get some hand holding and a sweet kiss on the forehead last night though Smile. He is a brilliant guy. The best. He knows all of the big stuff about me and hasn't run for the hills yet.

Passmethecrisps · 05/09/2013 20:43

Hi.

Did yah see our big walk YW? 1600 kids all walking round the park! Brilliant!

chasing I am so delighted for you. It sounds terribly exciting.

Very exciting for you as well mm! You will knock them dead.

Lol at o walking det! He looks so cute all stiff legged. P has shown an interest in taking steps but hasn't managed yet.

That trip sounds exhausting but I am glad wee O was in good sorts lily

BigPigLittlePig · 05/09/2013 20:45

Double hi-5 chasing!

Am now off out to do the shopping. I'm delusional to expect F to stay asleep for this, aren't I?

Passmethecrisps · 05/09/2013 20:48

Optimistic BP.

Evilwater · 05/09/2013 20:54

Hello all, nick is 11 months today. Yay Grin. He's my wonderful PFB
He is becoming more and more like a limpet, and getting very attached. Every time he noticed that I'm not there he cries till I come back.

Evil

YellowWellies · 05/09/2013 21:01

Awww I missed that Pass! Could I be tres cheeky and drop the wot no dairy yogurts at the school office for you and VQ one day next week? Would hate them to go to waste after my wee ingrate turned his nose up.

Chasing as one of your big, bale-eyed, over protective, nay prim quiche chaperones I'm verrr happy at how gently things are progressing Smile . It all sounds really lovely.

I'm really loving watching the bear scooting around the world. It's just so lovely - seeing all of the things around the house and garden he's drawn to investigate now he can steer his own course and wondering how long he's been desperate to explore them. We popped round to our elderly neighbours for a cuppa today - they love seeing him and getting baby cuddles as their youngest grandchild is in Australia - given J's closest GPs are 300 miles away it's turning into a lovely symbiotic relationship. We're really settling into our street. It feels like we've been here for years.

Det that footage of O walking is beautiful. So glad you got to see it before you return to work.

Random question... AF has returned and I'm wondering if that (rather than cheese) could be what's making J unsettled on the breast? Hmm

Passmethecrisps · 05/09/2013 21:04

Shame yw. I had my eyes peeled for you! Either drop them off or I will pop round. I actually thought about popping round this morning as I was off to a sw meeting which was cancelled on route.

Hia evil! Happy 11 months!

YellowWellies · 05/09/2013 21:10

Monday mornings are always quiet at chez Wellies (it's just me, a bear and a date with the laundry) Pass we'd love to see you Smile don't know if Mondays work for you? Otherwise Wednesdays are good.

Kyz · 05/09/2013 21:16

Evening all! Couple of things to report - I maintained at sw, am upset but have had a word with myself and I'll get there, I just need to keep going. Second... TEEF!!! Bottom two poking through, actual teeth, real ones!!! Have a grumpy e who isn't eating alot, but then that seems to be the norm so I am not worrying much :) I am guessing they explain last night too!

Right..so...

Aww gt hope h is better soon

I can't believe some of the babies are walking already! Tbh though I don't think e will be too long, probably before he's one

Hope you had a good cycle mm, and you will do fab with the interview I am sure :)

Hope f does stay asleep bplp!

yw the nipper 360 looks very nice. I'd like a new pushchair, unfortunately I don't need one but I would like one, a nice snazzy one!

Sounds like you're getting on great chasing :D really pleased for you!

Gosh evil 11 months??!!

applepieinthesky · 05/09/2013 21:16

Hi quiche. It's been a busy few days but I finally found time to log on. Hope everyone is ok. C is much better now, back to his usual self - pulling wires, climbing the stairs and doing everything he shouldn't be. It was a scary time for a while so I'm so relieved he's back to normal. I had a day off yesterday and spent it traipsing around town buying new clothes for me and C. I needed a new work wardrobe and C is outgrowing 6-9 month clothes so needs the next size up. My clothes were nearly all from Primark and C gets Next and Baby Gap! He will look adorable in them though.

mm great news on the interview

det omg. You will need eyes in your backside now Grin

evil Happy 11 month birthday to Nick. Any plans for his birthday yet?

For C's birthday I think we're going to London for a couple of days. I've booked a hotel and will probably drive there as train tickets are so expensive. I want to take him to see the Christmas lights and will be getting tickets next week for the Harrod's Xmas grotto. Not sure if mid November will feel a bit early but having done London in December a couple of years ago I'm not brave enough to consider it again. DP wants to go to a museum too so a day would be too much of a rush.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 05/09/2013 21:22

Not sure it would make an impact yw I too have first day of period since sterilisation, hence crankiness on phone to bin collectors who did not collect, and crossness at not being able to find a hammer today only a million different kinds of screwdriver.

I am dreading it being super heavy and have doubled up on protection for the night ahead. Once I have had this one I will consult the homeopath.

Can't beleive the walking. That is amaze balls. I showed DH and he said O needed to work hard to catch up!

Kirrin · 05/09/2013 22:02

Congratulations to O - glad you got to see that before gong back to work detective

Congrats on the interview MM :)
I am full of plans to cycle to work when I get transferred back near home after Christmas. Despite being grossly unfit and not having so much as looked at a bike for years a little while.

Sounds like a good buy YW :) You'll get loads of use out it so worth every penny.

chasing that sounds exciting. He sounds great :)

Glad C is feeling better apple It must have been very worrying xx

Maintaining is better than gaining Kyz and you've made a good start

Happy 11 month birthday to Nick :)

No news here as usual

Elizadoesdolittle · 05/09/2013 22:14

Back in the land of phone signal and wifi. Internet was very erratic at the cottage so couldn't really keep up let alone post. Had a fab break, but it's also nice to be home. Both girls were so good and DD1 loved seeing lots of daddy. had lots of fresh air and lovely food. Got a busy weekend as its mine and DH 5 yr wedding anniversary tomorrow so off for dinner and to see Book of Mormon, then it's mil 70th birthday so off for dinner on Saturday night then she's having a tea party on Sunday. No rest for the wicked.

I've skim read thread only so apologies I can't reply to everyone but just wanted to say:

pass lovely to see you back x

det congratulations/commiserations on O's achievement. I really wasn't surprised to see he's walking. He's such a clever stick. E still isn't moving apart from a slow backward shuffle.

chasing glad you and o are settling in well.

PurplePidjin · 06/09/2013 06:23

Quiet night?

Sophiathesnowfairy · 06/09/2013 06:30

Should have added,

Congrats mm good work both for the interview and the bike ride!

yw I love my nipper out and about 360 it does the beach like a dream, as well as negotiating the fields here and our lane that leads to the road which is just hardcore.

Up at 5:30 again.

I will give the later bed time a week and if I am still getting early wakings I am putting him down earlier. Grr face.

Pikz · 06/09/2013 07:10

Sophia if you crack the up early thing can you tell me the secret?

Also if anyone can explain the random crying at 1am I would also be grateful.

It's lovely being back in the gym but can barely move today!

Lily311 · 06/09/2013 07:13

mm I cycled in Lomdon for 9 years, 10miles trip a day. I loved it. Than I stopped when pregnant and just bought a new bike 2 weeks ago. I absolutely love it and manage to cycle 4 times a week. I think you were the one who asked about the helmet for M. O has one and it's sadly too big. It's the smallest size. Not sure how to make it tight on her head, I'm contemplating buying a beanie hat for her to see if it fits better.

And the top teeth are bastards. They are huge and poor O suffers really badly. She cried up 5 times last night but stopped after 15 seconds was enough for me to be so alert for the whole night.

chasing so excited for you.

So last night there was a huge argument in the corridor. There Are 4 apartments on my floor, all rented apart from mine. The owner is a company who built the whole house. 2 weeks ago a new tenant moved in, he is very arrogant and has parties so far twice a week. It doesn't bother me as I'm the furthest and my rooms face the garden while all the others face the street with co joining balconies. Party last night too,all neighbours upset, police called, huge argument. It was fun to watch. Police left, party continued, they came back. This went on for a while. I gently suggested my other neighbour that they switch his electricity off, the box is on the corridor. The guy went mad and actually thought that his music system was faulty. Fun fun night. The upshot is that he will get notice from the owner as disturbing neighbours classifies as breach of contract and if police called he will automatically get notice. I love sometimes the weird system in Hungary.

MadameGazelleIsMyMum · 06/09/2013 08:27

mm good work on the cycling and the bargain purchase!

chasing also firmly in yw's camp, glad you are taking things so slowly, I think that is hugely important. It is also massively exciting for you. You'll get used to your day times, I impinge you will fall into a loose routine.

bp am in the same position about a dog, although DH isn't keen but let's face it, he wouldn't have much choice if I was determined! we are now chez MadameGazelle herself, and they have a golden retriever. She and S are already firm friends. S is following her everywhere!

We drove up last night after a visit to the dr resulted in 2x antibiotics for each of us despite the dr saying it was probably viral. Decided to come where someone would be on hand to look after DC while we feel sorry for ourselves. Sketchiest journey ever. But v nice to be looked after. Just hoping now that the drugs kick in before tomorrow.

YellowWellies · 06/09/2013 08:43

As for cycling helmets - there's a reason you can't get one small enough for babies under one. Their necks aren't strong enough to support a helmet and go over bumps on a bike - their necks snap back and forward and it can cause serious damage. You shouldn't have them on a bike seat til one. Sorry to piss on bonfires I'm a non driving cycling addict but Jonas won't be going near a bike until one. Sorry for parade pissing! Solo cycles or a trailer tag a long until one....
