There's no point in worrying about the best car seats if you're going to put them on a bike before its considered medically safe - that's much higher risk.

PurplePidjin · 06/09/2013 09:26

Ditto off road running

M slept through again!! Woohoo

Tuesday night she woke for a feed at half 11 but then slept til 6:15 when it was time to get up to go to my DM.
Wednesday she slept 7:30-6:30 then went back to sleep 7:30-9am!
Last night she was a pain to get to sleep after having no naps at all yesterday, but eventually did 8:30ish-5:30am fed and then slept until 8am.

Strange thing is I feel tireder with all this uninterrupted sleep Grin

apple London trip sounds lovely. We've been meaning to go since M was about 3 months, I have some good friends down there and my brother lives in London too. We're supposed to stay with my friends but they've been super busy. I think if we don't go in the next month or so we might do similar and go for M's first birthday.
We've been mid nov, late nov and early dec before. It's lovely once all the Christmas lights are up. Getting a bit jealous of your plans now Grin

M is wanting to BF a ridiculous amount at the moment, she must have had at least 10 feeds yesterday Shock

The apartment antics sound entertaining lily

yw where can I find info about helmets under 1?

Evilwater · 06/09/2013 10:03

Hello all, you would be very proud of me.
I went to a meeting about the child serivies in my area. They need to save money and are merging the areas to try and get more money. Of course loads of mums said they would come and only me and my friend was there.

It was a really good opportunity to say, that the groups are a life line to RL mum friends and knowledge. That the information given was very valuable, and they must keep these going.

At the end she asked about what things they could improve on,
"For a start breastfeeding! Making it a choice, not a must!" Was my answer. Also a group for dads, they want men to share the responsiblity but there is no info or support for them.

Today, I might go to the Aquarium as its surposed to be raining, or there is a butterfly farm. Nick has slept his normal 7-6 and is having is morning nap.

yw I have read conflicting information on babies under one in bike seats. We have one, however we put C into it on Wednesday and the helmet on and he sat with his head bowed because he couldn't hold the weight of the helmet. So I think we will be leaving it a while until we try again. C is a strong baby too but I don't think he's ready for it yet.

YellowWellies · 06/09/2013 10:09

Just Google it Lily the first hit I got for 'safe age to cycle with baby' was www.babycenter.com/408_when-can-i-pull-my-baby-in-a-bike-trailer-or-bike-seat_1368515.bc

YellowWellies · 06/09/2013 10:14

If they can't hold the weight of a helmet imagine that same wee neck snapping back and forth, limbs flying at every bump in the road Sad cycle lanes are seriously shit and bumpy and cars fence you next to the gutter on the roads - the bumpiest bit. I'd rather have him loose in the car - no car seat than on a bike under one. Not least because if there's an accident they stand very little chance. Go out with the seat on your bike a lot before putting them in it - it totally throws your centre of balance and when cycling my nephew I found did /mounting the bike really hard! Grin

Evilwater · 06/09/2013 10:25

Lots of people use the pull a long trailer here. Is that an option?

Lily311 · 06/09/2013 10:27

I tried o 2 weeks ago but she screamed. She was fine with the helmet but not fine in the seat, i think she just didnt feel supported enough. I haven't used the seat since as the helmet doesn't fit and I refuse to put her without the helmet.

Pikz · 06/09/2013 10:49

Am so tired of preventing constant suicide attempts from L. Seriously this boy must stop thinking he can fly. He climbed on top of the toilet whilst I was in the shower and attempted to climb into his cot whilst I had a wee.

Baby jail no longer works as he climbs the side and constantly hits his head.

Brockle · 06/09/2013 10:53

Y has serious rage now the stairgate is up. How he can try and climb it when he can't walk is beyond me. Grin also I am fed up of the bruises on his head due to his "exploring" and banging his head on stairgate due to frustration let's see if a story will divert him for a bit......

Evilwater · 06/09/2013 11:01

I have a v tech walker that I use to distract him, he loves to walk/run up and down the lounge.

Brockle · 06/09/2013 12:29

I bought one of those but its sat in the sorting office waiting to be picked up!

ChasingDaisy · 06/09/2013 12:31

Well, this 9 month stage is a bit shit isn't it Hmm I had a happy O for all of 3 days after the bastard top teeth came through but now I am back to having a whinging leg clinger who won't eat. Teeth? Failing attempts to crawl? Fuck knows. But I am looking forward to my day off tomorrow.

ChasingDaisy · 06/09/2013 12:38

Oscar can't work out how to use his walker Hmm He tries to bounce in it.

fruitpastilles · 06/09/2013 13:10

I've just ordered a vtech walker for S, it's coming Monday along with her new pushchair. Can't wait Grin

I am a right jumble of emotions today.

Dropped O off at MIL's at 12.30. She was going straight out with him in the pram. I drove past her walking, and it cut right in to me Confused. Seeing someone else walking along the pavement with your baby? It was so odd. I felt like I'd been punched in the stomach.

Anyway, feeling better now. I've had a baby free mooch around Sainsbury's, bought some shit Grin had some lunch free of grabby little fingers. And soon I shall be going to have my hair done. Yippeeee! I've been waiting 14 months to have anything more than my fringe trimmed Hmm. I hope it goes okay. It doesn't usually. Never happy with it, but anything has to be better than the mess it is in right now.

DP is picking O up at 5. So when I get back he will be home. :)

Then on Tuesday when I am in work he will go to hers 10-1.30.

I miss my baby. :( Sad fucker

applepieinthesky · 06/09/2013 15:27

I know how you feel det. Horrible isn't it? It's my first full week back this week and while I'm enjoying the extra money and spending it all on C, I would rather have more time with him. My mum, dad and brother have seen him more this week than I have Sad

ChasingDaisy · 06/09/2013 17:09

Horrible isn't it det? Sad When O was 5 days old and we took him out in the pram for the first time, my stepmum insisted on pushing him round instead of me Sad I still resent her for that now.

VQ how are you doing? Am

And you stunt?

Miss you PR

fruitpastilles · 06/09/2013 17:43

Not sad at all det I miss S even if she's only at my mums for an hour.

fruitpastilles · 06/09/2013 17:45

Posted too soon then.

No afternoon nap means I have a bathed bottled and sleeping baby now. It also means she will be wide awake in the middle of the night for hours Hmm not looking forward to it. I might go to bed now to get a few hours in, in preparation haha.

GingerBeerAndTinnedPeaches · 06/09/2013 18:12

PR has namechanged

And will be back soon, having missed two sweary Wednesdays, two Thankful Thursdays.

I am OK. You've been very quiet; I have been skimming the thread but will try and catch up properly, maybe after the weekend
