Sofia is 5 months now, have not started weaning her yet but am trying to get prepared Smile

I got the Graco tea time high chair yesterday from mothercare. Also bought a new pan steamer from sainsburys. Am thinking of doing baby led although debating whether to do a purée breakfast. I have started sitting her in the high chair with a spoon so she can practice getting it in her mouth, which she is surprisingly good at.

Can't wait now, getting quite excited Smile

Still meaning to get on the face book group but Sofia is having 30 min naps so doesn't give me chance to do much!

Mumof3 Sofia sounds the same as your lo, she naps every 1.5-2 hrs roughly throughout the day.

She is sound asleep accross my lap at the mo, we have also been getting her to self sooth in her cot but she has had her last jab today and she's feeling a bit sorry for herself! so cuddles with mummy it is!

Faith your right it is lovely to be needed!! Not long now and our babes will be becoming a lot more independent.

Mumof3xx · 04/09/2013 16:27

Dd is loving her food

So far she has had

Baby rice
Baby porridge
Banana

Going buying a steamer and new hand blender tomorrow so I can make a load of fruit and veg purees and freeZe them

Ill be doing a mix of puree and finger foods

AmberLav · 05/09/2013 05:22

E is a 3-8 day poo'er, and she likes to wait for the most inopportune time, like on the way to swiming yesterday! It was pointed out to me that it would have been worse if she'd gone in the pool, which I conceded, but I figure if she's going to wait 6 days, she could at least squeeze it out at home!

Mumof3xx · 05/09/2013 19:31

Well dd woke at 4.30am wanting milk (usually goes til at least 6.30) and so her routine is all higgly piggly today

She would normally take 5 bottles say -
7
10
1
4
7

But today has done

4.30
7.30
11
2.30
Now 7.30

Poor confused baba. Anyone else have days like this?

AmberLav · 06/09/2013 04:41

We still don't really have a normal day yet, or not that I've noticed!

Cannotbelieveit · 06/09/2013 11:18

Mumof3 we used to but then I found of he woke up earlier then usual then sometimes he wanted to play/watch his mobile etc also you could try giving water instead on an early wake up x

Mumof3xx · 06/09/2013 18:58

She stired a bit last night but went bk to sleep with her dummy

catherine19 · 07/09/2013 21:55

At times when ds wakes he just wants to play. Sometimes I just leave him I. His cot for a bit as long as he is happy! I find he won't hav his bottle first thing cos he is too happy and smilie!

Mumof3xx · 07/09/2013 22:03

She wakes hungry though and will take a full 8oz so I don't think I could fob her off with water as she is properly hungry

She woke to be fed at 4.30 this morning too

She seems to so it every few weeks for a few days I think it ties in with the wonder weeks tbh, by the app she is 3 days before the 5th leap

She's taken 33oz today as well as porridge and carrot so she's taking plenty in! Will see if she's up early doors again! Hope not i need 8 hours!

birdbrain21 · 07/09/2013 22:03

baby bird is normally quite regular with her feeds although she's suddenly started feeding every 2-2.5 hours again instead of 3!
She's showing a lot of signs of being ready to wean, she's nearly 21 weeks, so think I'm going to go and buy some baby rice tomorrow and see how it goes because I feel so mean to sit at the table and eat in front of her she tries to grab the food and then cries when I won't give her any! How do I wean?!?!?!?how many times a day to give her baby rice and how many times milk?!?

Mumof3xx · 07/09/2013 22:06

Start of with just a spoonful of baby rice with dinner or tea

Same milk feeds

We are on week 3 and now having solids at breakfast and tea plus 30-35 oz formula

People say you should offer milk first so they aren't starving but dd prefers her food first I find!

AmberLav · 08/09/2013 03:15

Weaning - I would suggest starting any new food type at the midday meal, as that way if there is any sort of adverse reaction (very unlikely) you have a few wakeful hours for it to happen in. Also ignore the baby whisperer if you follow her stuff - I remember reading the weaning chapter after I'd started it, and being amazed at her advice, although maybe she's good if there's family history of allergies...

I'm not a great fan of baby rice, but it is useful to bulk up runnier foods. Move onto more exciting things when you feel ready...

If you don't have allergies in the family and baby was full term and otherwise healthy, then chances are that baby won't have allergies as well, but use your common sense...

Jo1984uk · 08/09/2013 03:46

Anyone else's baby's suddenly not like being passed around or being held by other people?

Sofia has been like this a few weeks now.. I'm sure she has separation anxiety already, I know they usually don't get it until around 7 months or so, but I think she has developed it early! She is fine when new people/ relatives who see her once a week or so, speak to her. They usually get smiles and she is quite content. However, as soon as they hold her she gets really upset!

She has a better social life than me so I know it's not that I don't take her out enough to socialise.

Anyways, got stingy eyes from first feed of night, apologies for any typos!

Mumof3xx · 08/09/2013 07:13

Dd does prefer me and doesn't often kick off at those age sees a couple of times a week but isn't keen on anyone else

Jo1984uk · 08/09/2013 10:07

Glad it's not just Sofia then mumof3.. She sees her nan and aunty (partners side) once a week but has started to get a bit upset when they hold her/ take her away from me!

Lol at baby E Amber, they do have great timing don't they! I thought we had a 'situation' in the pool the other day but it was just lots of wind!!

We started water babies last week, she loves it. Expensive but worth it Smile

Mumof3xx · 08/09/2013 10:15

I would love to take dd swimming but hard with no oh and two other dc

Would also like older dc to have lessons but local pool is rubbish

cornishmizzle · 08/09/2013 18:57

Hi, I lurked on the antenatal thread, my DD was born in April, just found this thread... bit slow Grin

Just asked to join FB group.

Mumof3xx · 08/09/2013 19:14

Hello Cornish!
I don't do FB but am here a fair bit!

birdbrain21 · 08/09/2013 19:45

Hi cornish I'm also not a fb user but nice to have you around Smile

having a really grumpy day here today, she's spent all day moaning and crying every time she goes down unless she's in a buggy, but after walking round the shops for a couple of hours I had to come home and now I don't know what to do with her!!! I've given her bonjela and fed her loads, carried her around, burped her, cuddled her I don't know what else to try Sad makes me so upset but I don't know what's wrong with her!

HaveALittleFaith · 08/09/2013 19:56

Hi Cornish! I'll look out for you on FB but d'you want to tell us more on here for those who don't have it?

I'm Faith, DD is aka Faithlet, born April 14th, 20 weeks old today. Currently tanking up on boob juice!

We had such a bad night last night! We're on holiday in a static caravan. It was freezing. I wrapped her up but her hands were still cold. Add in she's snuffly and basically she woke at 12.45, fed, back to sleep. 3.45 woke, would not sleep! DH took over at 5.15 so I got some sleep and she was so wired she slept on him got 20 minutes and only cat napped most of today until a 40 minute drive finally beat her! Anyway we hired a fan heater from reception and added another layer, feels so much warmer! Not hot just not that biting cold. Desperately hoping for a better night tonight. We're all shattered!

Mumof3xx · 08/09/2013 20:03

I'm so tired I might go bed now lol

Although dd slept til 6.30 ds2 crawled into my bed at 5am and kept talking to me!

My dd is nearly 23 weeks and I have two ds's they are 4&5

I am a single parent

Dd is formula fed and on week three of weaning, and sleeps 11 hours a night usually but tends to wake early hours before a wonder week leap which is what's going on ATM!

Mumof3xx · 08/09/2013 20:04

Bird have you looked at wonder weeks btw? Just wondered if it might tie in with your dd ATM

Jo1984uk · 08/09/2013 20:14

Birdbrain has she recently had her jabs? My dd is like that a week or so after them. Can't put her down, she wants attention/reassurance constantly and is generally more 'needy'.

Faith hope you all have a better night now you have the heater! It was 12c here in Southampton today, couldn't believe it!

Mama1980 · 08/09/2013 20:36

Hi Cornish, and welcome. I'm on here and fb but seldom get to post on either! I have dd15 ds5 and Alex who's coming up to 9 months- he was born at 24 weeks.

Birdbrain how's dd now?

I will check in properly later if anyone ever goes to sleep! Smile It's not looking likely ds1 is pushing a Elc robot round the floor and Alex is laughing trying to help.... At least they are in pyjamas I suppose so I can pretend they might sleep.

AmberLav · 09/09/2013 06:03

Welcome Cornish! I hover between fb and here - I prefer the format here but you get more pictures on fb!

I have DS who is nearly 2 and a half (A) and DD who is 19 weeks.

Funny child moment of yesterday - DS had very nearly failed the social part of his 2 year check (we have a questionnaire to fill in here) all because he didn't role play with his teddies, e.g. change a nappy, put them to bed, so I thought it was so cute yesterday when I looked over to see him pull up his t shirt and start bfing his teddy! Then he went and got his other big one, and bf'd him too!
