Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

That's good to hav the warning amber! It is hard not to compare! I sometimes feel odd when out cos ds fits in with babies months older then him size wise but obviously isn't doing the same things! I tell people his age as soon as I can with the subtex of that's why he's not crawling/eating etc! Lol!

Mumof3xx · 29/08/2013 14:44

Since dd rolled over a few times the other day she hasn't done it again lol age easily turns back to front as soon as put down but going front to back is rare

AmberLav · 30/08/2013 05:44

We've always had tall children in our family, which makes them hard to compare to children of their own age, particularly when you see tinies race around playparks etc when your one is still clinging to your leg! There are 4 year olds the same height as 2 year old DS! Eve is exactly the same weight as her friend over the road who is 7 weeks older, and that little girl is sitting well, but not rolling so much as Eve! Thankfully every child is different (not that stops you being really proud when your baby is the first to do something!)

KeepTheFaithBaby · 30/08/2013 08:15

Faithlet is so little (9th centile for weight and 25th for height) that people still think she's a newborn. I still get lots of Oh that's a very little baby! and I explain she's actually 4 months!

Mumof3xx · 30/08/2013 08:39

Dd is always somewhere between 50th & 75th sometimes nearer to one than the other last time she was almost bang on 75th
I don't know any babies the same age in real life
Both her brothers were also between 50 and 75 although she is the lighter of the three even though she was the heaviest born!
Last time I went to baby weigh in it was full of small babies some of them were the same age As dd and they looked like she did as a newborn! My smallest baby was 7lb 9 so I can't imagine what it's like to have a tiny 5lber!

To those giving solids. When did you start? How many times a day are you giving them?
We have been giving baby rice once a day for a week now and she loves it! Plus it hasn't affected her milk intake which I'm happy about

AmberLav · 30/08/2013 09:29

Random moment of self-congratulations - E has just settled herself off to sleep in her cot for the first time! It's mainly congratulations to her, but also to me for having the confidence to break out of the norm, as she normally naps in her bouncy chair. I think it took her less than 15 minutes to settle, with not too much grumbling!

E has settled to 75%, but she was born at like 99.1% or whatever it is up there. DS was the lightest one, at 9lbs 12ozs!

I'm waiting to start solids till we've been on our October holiday, and she'll be about 24 weeks by then...

catherine19 · 31/08/2013 20:39

It's a good idea waiting till after ure hols the less stress and packing going away the better! Ds takes little bits of baby rice or purreed fruit but I don't think he's that bothered about it so I'm just giving something every so often he loves his milk so I'm not stressing abut it. I mostly started hi cos he kept grappling at food ad I didn't want his first food to b crisps!

KeepTheFaithBaby · 31/08/2013 20:54

That's great news Amber, gives me hope! Faithlet's naps have improved the last couple of days. She's been more settled. I'm hoping its the winds of change!

AmberLav · 01/09/2013 04:45

I think we may already have reverted on the nap training! Yesterday I put her down slightly too late for her morning nap, so she fought it hugely, although did have a few catnaps. So for lunchtime nap I went back to the chair as she was exhausted, and I figured a rested baby was more important than where she slept... she can throw herself arond so much more in the cot, and I didnt start DS' s nap training till he was 6 months...

Mumof3xx · 01/09/2013 09:26

Dd has been very unsettled past 24 hours, she is 9 days before next wonder weeks leap so could be that I suppose she's very cranky and fighting sleep in the day but luckily slept well last night

Mumof3xx · 01/09/2013 09:28

Dd only ever sleeps in her pram carrycot during the day however she only has a few weeks til moving to the seat unit so I may try cot naps then

birdbrain21 · 01/09/2013 11:58

everyday naps are different here, somedays she settles really nicely and sleeps for an hour pkus at a time other days she screams herself to sleep and wakes up after 20mins! At the moment I don't rea;;y mind I prefer she sleeps well at night so I can sleep but I'm sure when DH starts his new job next week and I'm home all day alone with her (and trying to settle into our new flat which we haven't movec into yet!!) then I'll change my mind about daytime naps being anywhere anytime and try get her into a routine to keep my sanity Wink
She started to recognise her food every time I lift my top up or she see's a bottle she starts grabbing with a desperate look on her face it's so cute!

catherine19 · 01/09/2013 12:25

When ever I think we are started to get a pattern for naps ds changes his mind! I to don't mind so much as long as he keeps sleeping at nite! Last few days he's had 1hr am and 1hr in the afternoon. I've brought bedtime forward to as he kept getting really upset and falling asleep around 6-7 so now we try to keep him awake do bath around 7ish feed and bed at 7.30

Mumof3xx · 01/09/2013 14:45

Dd has to nap every 2ish hours but only for about 30-45 mins at a time

She goes to bed between 7&8 pm and wakes up between 6&7am

Cannotbelieveit · 02/09/2013 08:11

H manages 3 naps a day of about 30 mins to an hour! And he has last bottle at 7, then bed after and isn't up til 7.30-8.30am next morning x

Mumof3xx · 02/09/2013 19:32

Dds sleeps today

Wake 6.30

Sleep 9.30-10
Sleep 11.30 - 12.10
Sleep 1.30 - 2
Sleep 4.30 - 5

Asleep in bed for 7.20

AmberLav · 03/09/2013 01:54

As you can see, E decided that 1.30am was a good time to wake up! I did try to hold her in her cot to try to teach her to self settle better, but after 10 minutes of leaning over her in her cot, I've broken and resorted to feeding her! Oh well! It's annoying as she was consistently lasting till after 4am for a while...

Daytime naps are not too bad, met up today with friends for lunch up in London, and she slept over lunch time and a bit out and about. What I never understand is why she will sleep in her pram in restaurants, but wake as soon as we park in our hallway at home!

Mumof3xx · 03/09/2013 07:15

Oh dear amber
My dd is the same re waking when we get home

Well I think I had eight straight hours of sleep, and don't feel any better for it!

catherine19 · 03/09/2013 09:51

I once cut the shopping bags of the pram when I'd been shopping and ds had fallen asleep and I didn't want t wake him! Sad!

AnnMumsnet · 03/09/2013 11:42

hello ladies - sorry to butt in but I am looking for MNers to take part in an online group next week about weaning.
I'm specifically looking for first time parents with a baby aged 4-10 mnths who are starting to think about or wean onto solid food.
There's a prize draw for taking part. I can send you full details if you PM me Smile
thanks very much......

catherine19 · 03/09/2013 20:41

Hiya I'm interested in the weaning group x

AmberLav · 04/09/2013 02:13

Thankfully they have restricted it to first timers, so I can't give my tuppence!

It's going to be a long week - normally I have DS at home Wed and Thurs, but he was sick briefly yesterday morning, so it's three days in a row this week, and on top if that, swimming class starts back tomorrow, and both will be in the water (at different times!) which I think will be knackering! Oh well!

kellestar · 04/09/2013 07:19

W is so unpredictable for naps and I keep missing the signals :(

B was so predictable, I don't wear a watch and I could tell the time by her.

B is back to preschool, this time two mornings a week. Yesterday I managed to see W needs his nap and settled him easily and managed to clean the kitchen while he was out for the count. Then we had some nice play that challenges him a little bit. Made him nice and tired so he had another nap before we had to pick up B, I actually had a hot coffee and a biscuit! Today me and W are off to the NCT bumps and babes group whilst she is at preschool. The great thing is she really loves it and goes with glee.

He finally did a poo after 15 days of waiting. He got really sweaty and red faced squeezing it out. Made me chuckle with all his grunting :) much more settled now though and less smelly farts.

Mumof3xx · 04/09/2013 07:51

Oh gosh 15 days! Is that normal for a bf baby?

Dd rarely goes more than 24 hours

HaveALittleFaith · 04/09/2013 08:11

Faithlet will go a week between poos. Normal for a BF baby - they utilise virtually everything they take in so minimal waste. Faithlet has been like it ever since we left the hospital. She is going more often now she has a formula top up but that means three times a week!

Well we had great naps yesterday, awful sleep last night. Woke every 2-3 hours. I think she has a cold, very snuffly, fussing on breast at times. Woke at 5, didn't want to feed just to cuddle. Guess its nice to be needed?!
