That's so sweet amber! Wonder what the form wud make of that! I find it funny they use a questionnaire to assess social stuff!

birdbrain21 · 09/09/2013 13:45

mumof3 what's wonder weeks?!

Well after crying and moaning all day she finally fell asleep on the couch when I put her down for 5 mins so I could finish eating supper at 10:00!! Poor thing don't know what was wrong with her but she was so tired she didn't even stir when I transfered her from the couch to her bed! She hasn't had jabs recently she's 21 weeks tomorrow and the last lot of jabs was at 16 weeks...I can only imagine it's teeth because she chews on anything that goes near her mouth! She gave me a massive smile this morning as if to say sorry for being such a grump yesterday Smile she's crying again now but she's due for a nap, it's just so frustrating and upsetting when you don't know what the problem is!

Mumof3xx · 09/09/2013 14:19

Bird wonder weeks is about the big developmental changes a baby goes through, there is a book and an app. It works off baby's due date not the date they were born.

My dd is 23 weeks tomorrow (23 wks fri by due date) and she is just coming up to the 5th leap,

Going through these leaps can make baby cry more, need more attention, change feeding and sleeping habits, and just be generally grumpy!

The 5th leap is "relationships" and is roughly 22.5 - 26.5 weeks (by due date) relationships is about baby learning about "in, on, behind and how long"

I find that wonder weeks really apply to my dd! And think its quite interesting!

X

birdbrain21 · 09/09/2013 18:12

hmm thanks by due date she is 22 weeks so that could make sense, I will have to have a google around to find out more about wonder weeks and when they ae so I'm more prepared. I guess a developmental stage would also explain the strange sleeping patterns of the last few days!
On another note she's really enjoying her baby rice, got really cross when I showed her no more in the bowl Smile

Hi ladies, have been off the radar (on Facebook) for quite a while, hope all your LOs are doing well, going to try to catch up on my long term absence!

bext · 09/09/2013 23:33

I've also been loitering on FB but feels nice to be back on MN! Hope everyone's alright.

Missmuffet28 · 10/09/2013 08:25

Just popping back into MN to see everyone as per my post on FB. I spend far too much time on the FB group!

Weaning advice c/o BBC

Mama FB is abuzz wondering how Alex is getting on - great to see you've posted over here, lovely to hear he's doing so well :)

birdbrain21 · 10/09/2013 13:53

hi facebookers nice to see you back Wink

I spoke to soon she's having another difficult day, normally by this time has slept about 3 hours, today only 1 and a bit, and things like the phone and doorbell which never normally bother her keep waking her up and making her cry Sad, and I had so much I wanted to do today...the house is an absolute mess!!

birdbrain21 · 10/09/2013 13:55

likecandy interesting article. I have bought baby rice but wasn't planning on getting jars of stuff except for emergencies because they're more expensive, but that's just reconfirmed my thoughts, I will be chopping and peeling veg myself

LikeCandy · 11/09/2013 00:23

bird I read another article last week that compared prices of homemade to boughten foods - and the difference is incredible.
For example in tesco:
'Ella's kitchen banana purée' 79p for 70g
Bananas 68p for 1kg!!

That's worth a peel and a mash to me!

AmberLav · 11/09/2013 03:07

Jars are a godsend when you are travelling with a small one, but be prepared for baby to gollop them down, yet barely touch the meals you have lovingly prepared! As the article says, they are much sweeter and smoother, so baby will love them! But in time baby will start to prefer more grown up things...

Welcome back to all the fb'ers!

Mumof3xx · 11/09/2013 20:22

How many oz of milk are any weaning babies taking per day?

catherine19 · 11/09/2013 21:35

My plan is also to make most food and just use jars when out (and being lazy!) i do see ones like banana purees and think just squish a banana!
My lo doesn't seem to alter his milk intake just takes everything! So I give him 7oz at the feed he's eating after. Next week I plan to give him something twice a day and will give 7oz at each of those feeds but stick to 8 for the others think ill then give them a go at 7 and the others 6 when he eats a bit more, not sure really!

Mumof3xx · 11/09/2013 21:53

Dd is currently doing

Breakfast and 8oz

Two bottles of between 6&8oz

Tea and 7oz

Between 5 and 8oz before bed

birdbrain21 · 11/09/2013 23:45

is that formula or ebm? dd takes 5oz ebm a feed when I give her a bottle, if I give her more she takes it but then throws up more after!
at what age should they stop being sick after feeds?

Mumof3xx · 12/09/2013 07:28

It's formula bird

Dd is sometimes a little sick after milk but not much, I've known babies near a year who still do a little sick I don't think there is an age on it

catherine19 · 12/09/2013 20:05

At what age do we stop winding them?

Mumof3xx · 12/09/2013 20:09

Catherine I think it depends on the baby. My dd at 5 and a half months now doesn't often need winding

birdbrain21 · 12/09/2013 21:51

thanks, I also don't wind her any more, she has a new habit of doing it herself at the most inappropriate moments Wink

AmberLav · 13/09/2013 05:59

I had both DCs belch in my face, about 5 minutes apart! DS was garlicky, DD was a rather sweet milky burp!

Mumof3xx · 13/09/2013 06:13

Ff milk burps are horrible smelling lol

catherine19 · 13/09/2013 13:14

Yeah they smell the worst! taI just wondered cos I don't think it make any diff if, how or how long I wind him he just does it when he wants! Like everything else really

Cannotbelieveit · 13/09/2013 20:59

When we start weaning properly I am going by the guide in "weaning made easy" I think the first meal to start giving is lunch and after so many days you drop that milk feed altogether.
