Including our friends from late May & early July!

Thought time for a postnatal thread.

So. I'm craving a nightly glass of wine already, week
5 of motherhood. Anyone else?!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Theiah's pretty good around I reckon she goes 2 5hr stretches at night and the feeds every 3hrs in the day sleeping mostly in between she tends to be awake between 6-10pm but tonight she has decided to fall asleep and has had bath at 7.30, bottle then sleep where she's been since so thinking I may pay for this tonight

I have a dog that thinks that to, when its time to go out my dogs sit next to her with a ball like she's just old enough to throw it

learnermummy · 05/08/2013 22:55

Hi all. Am a bit behind, but AmI do think your son is bit young for normal seatbelt. You can get high backed boosters with 5 point harnesses that convert to normal boosters later - that's what we had for our taller than av DS2.

As for sleep, Anna doesn't believe in daytime sleep unless over someone's shoulder! She did do 6hr stretch last night though! Shame other two woke up & dog was sick during her 10-4 sleep!!

curlyclaz13 · 06/08/2013 03:24

just woken up to find I fell asleep with oscar still on me fron his 11pm feeed. not very safe way to get the best part of four hours sleep !
Any suggestions to why over the last few days he has started screaming when we change him ovenight ? only when we are upstairs and proper real tears and screaming like we have hurt him. Sad

SunnyL · 06/08/2013 08:00

My wonderful little night time sleeper has gone on holiday and been replaced with a hungry monster. All last week we were getting 6 hr stretches between feeds. This week we're back to 3hourly feeds. Feeling quite tired today.

Off to the GPs this morning to talk about the implant for contraception. We know for financial reasons there needs to be 3yrs between babies and as I'm apparently quite fertile but forgetful this could be a good option.

learnermummy · 06/08/2013 10:50

Curly can you feed lying down? Not so bad if you fall asleep then. I feed lying down with my body sort of curled around hers. Also we never change her at night, just straight back to sleep.

Sunny have you considered mirena coil? Some people rave about it. Not sure it's for me though. Think DH will be getting snip this time, that is if we ever resume relations!

DontmindifIdo · 06/08/2013 11:00

Curly, if you were all snuggled up but a little thirsty in the night and just fancied a drink, would you get grumpy if someone stripped you out of your clothes and messed you when all you wanted was a drink and a cuddle from your favourite person in the world? Smile just change leaking or pooy nappies. They can contain a lot of liquid!

massagegirl · 06/08/2013 11:17

I also don't change nappy at night unless pooey. Much more chilled that way and straight back to sleep. Theas sleep was cheap for two nights after her jabs but now back to normal... Hooray!

helensmelen · 06/08/2013 12:18

curly- just jumping on the back of your question. really struggle to get him to nap even tho he's really tired and grizzly. try to get him 2-3 hrs in the day, seem to have got the gang of night almost (v broken sleep but sleep all the same)- he goes to bed with me 8-9 like yours. anyone any tips for getting them to nap? he just resists it constantly. oh and thanks to all who helped before with night issue x

learnermummy · 06/08/2013 12:49

No napping tips here I'm afraid, mine is also a nap dodger.

Annoyed here as they've just moved Anna's jabs appointment to the day before our holiday. Give me hope that it won't be ruined!

helensmelen · 06/08/2013 13:23

I just had him asleep by rocking the crib nonstop but unless I keep doing it constantly he wakes up! even started staying awake in the car now! at least it's not just my boy. does yours get really grumpy tho? x

curlyclaz13 · 06/08/2013 13:51

I only change him for poonami's or wet through and even if I have fed him first (before bedtime) he still has a meltdown. Sad I don't have room to feed laying down with him by my side but I do feed laid back with him on top of me.

massagegirl · 06/08/2013 13:51

Learner I had to take Thea to a funeral the day after jabs and was really worried but she was totally fine. Her sleep was bit disrupted for couple of nights but nothing major and she was happy in herself.

Hawkmoth · 06/08/2013 14:19

Cold baby wipes curly?

curlyclaz13 · 06/08/2013 14:39

he screams as soon as we lay him down. At a loss to understand it, only started in the last week, before that he was fine and ok downstairs or during the day upstairs. silly baby Grin

rrreow · 06/08/2013 14:50

I went on the mini-Pill (progestogen only, can take while breastfeeding). Started taking it last Tuesday and now I've started bleeding??? It's kind of light but definitely new blood, my lochia stopped weeks ago. I've also felt quite lightheaded or even dizzy the past few days. Does anyone know if this is all normal?

I read that you can still get your period while on the mini-Pill (although less likely with the one I'm on, Cerazette) but I didn't expect a period yet as with DS1 I bf exclusively as well and didn't get my period until around 14 months post birth.

Napping has me stumped! I put Z on the floor on some blankets and he'll grizzle for a few minutes and then drops off. But it doesn't always work. He also cries in his sleep a lot which tempts me to pick him up, but if I don't he usually happily sleeps on. He never feeds to sleep, or if he does very occasionally it'll be a catnap on my lap. DS1 was so different, he'd feed to sleep (wonderful thing, actually, in hindsight!! So effective), or would sleep in the pram. When Z is awake and wants to be held, he literally wants to be held to the exclusion of everything else. Can't put him in the sling unfortunately, he just cries when I try to use it around the house (fine when going out though).

pinkapples · 06/08/2013 16:13

We seem to be going against the crowd we change before every feed (I wouldn't want to eat sitting in my own wee)

Donut worry learner still no relations here although got my appointment through for the 10th sept at the hospital

Also cross that Theiah's jabs have been cancelled due to the nurse being sick Sad so will wait for another appointment now

pinkapples · 06/08/2013 16:14

Also been bleeding fresh red blood for over a week now I think it is a period omg never had one before! (Pros) any ideas how long the first one after a baby lasts?

arlandria666 · 06/08/2013 16:36

I don't change nappies unless pooey either Elliott goes straight back to sleep then most of the time will probably not tonight now

the Dr's rang me last night the fridge had apparently broken when Elliott had his jabs so he has to have them again GREAT!!

learnermummy · 06/08/2013 16:55

Helensmelon mine is really grumpy too Hmm. Think she's windy a lot so have bought some colic drops today to try. Have you tried a swing? If I put her in hers asleep and turn if on it keeps her asleep a bit longer (not hugely long though).

MrsBri · 06/08/2013 16:58

Pink, we change at every feed too. As Amy wakes up starving it doesn't really change her mood as she's already screaming :-/ We don't get much / any notice that she needs food.

I'm not sure how long the period should last. I'm hoping to find out soon though as I'm ready to start tracking my cycles again. :-)

Had annoying news yesterday which means I'll probably have to go back to work early. I was meant to be taking witness statements, but they've now outsourced them so I can't have them. Which leaves me £500 net a month short. So I may be returning in October. Sigh.

It's so upsetting, but not much I can do about it apart from grit my teeth and get on with it. :-(

pinkbear82 · 06/08/2013 17:12

Rreow I'm on the mini pill too, and started it 5 weeks ago and shortly after had a bleed and then about 2 weeks after that had another small or - not sure if its normal but assumed it was body settling down on it. Same pill as you.
I'm wondering if my non stop hunger is thanks to it too, would be interesting to see if you find anything similar.

Mrsbri thats annoying regarding work. I feel for you.

We tend to change before a feed too. She hates wet nappies so sometimes those are done in between. Night time only gets done if she's not settling.

DP gone out to do his mx and DSDs gone to swimming pesos with their mum, I'm making the most of just me and dd time! Even the dog looks pleased its quiet.

Olimoss · 06/08/2013 17:17

Hullo - just dipping in before catching up on the thread. Life has suddenly become v compartmentalised - Joe and then Work! Busy busy.

Hope all is ok with everyone. We've J's review with the surgeon at C&W tomorrow, am bit nervous!

Also on the tmi front, is anyone else still bleeding? I am, it's starting to really shit me!

pinkapples · 06/08/2013 20:26

I'm still bleeding oli not sure what it is tho but yes I agree very annoying

Also a bit upset today I suffer with eczema and always said it was the one thing I didn't want Theiah to have but get skin is looking red and angry and very much like eczema SadSad

SunnyL · 06/08/2013 21:32

Rreow and Pink I'm on the same pill but have been on that one for 5 years so it doesn't really affect me at all. It really suits me though as I didnt get periods on it at all. I had the consultation about the implant this morning. Apparently 1 in 5 don't bleed at all but 2 in 5 bleed erratically. Will be a complete pain if I start to get periods again. Forgotten what it was like to deal with them.

I went out to zumba tonight for the first time since baby. Crikey you can tell I have no pelvic floor muscles. Had to run out and pee constantly. What was really brilliant is DH was able to bath and bed Lily. She's overcome her aversion to bottles again. Phew! I can start to get my life back an evening or two a week.

Sarah2506 · 06/08/2013 21:47

sunny I went to the gym. Feels like a major night out! Just an hour or so away makes such a difference! Though I was doing the post section easier version. No way I'm breaking into a run anytime soon!
