Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Diege · 17/06/2006 11:56

Hi GG Grin; glad you like the chocs! No, my parcel hasn't arrived yet, but from experience parcels ususally take at least 3-4 days. Will let you know when it arrives Smile.
Gosh sounds like your DP really went through it post-op, and of course you too!! How are things now? Yes, agree some things are probably best left unsaid.
Well, off to children's party soon; will be glad to get back!!
Speak later!
Diege

Diege · 17/06/2006 16:51

Oh and gorgeous piccies NOVA, esp. like the last one Smile.
Sooo hot here; back from party and ready for my bed Grin. Have to work tommorrow (Open Day), and keep forgetting and thinking what we can do - then I remember. Get a day in lieu next week though, so not so bad Grin.
Right, time to get her majesty up from her nap,
Diege Smile
PS: anyone got any good snack ideas??? Tried scotch pancakes today which went down well, but getting sick of rusks/baby biscuits/rice cakes route!!

novadandypowder · 17/06/2006 16:51

Thank you Diege Grin

novadandypowder · 17/06/2006 16:54

Sorry x-ed posts - Thanks again! Grin

I just give Nat anything we've got lying around the house - fruit, cheese sticks, bread, chicken pieces, dried fruit, pieces of veg.

ChaCha · 17/06/2006 18:14

On the snack front, I tried one of those bicotti biscuits that a few of you suggested yesterday and he looked like he was going to chocke Blush I'm such a novice, don't know if he's too early to be trying these and I shouldn't be giving him anything like that until we've maybe left puree stage?
Should I have broken it into two? I don't know if it's maybe the heat but he's not too fussy about eating in the afternoon.
Talked to DH via webcam this afternoon, it was great, LO could see dad on the computer :o And to think a mobile phone was such a novelty when I was a teenager!

Thanks and bye for now, p.s. get some rest Diege! You busy bee x

ChaCha · 17/06/2006 18:18

anyone see Guy Ritchie's 'Revolver'?
Want to watch it later, reviews are 50/50

Diege · 17/06/2006 19:15

Hi NOVA, CHACHA!! Great snack tips there!!And to think I've through this twice before Blush Snap CHACHA, L chokes on biscotti's too, though now I break a teeny tiny bit off and pop it in her mouth so it melts. Have also been dunking rusks in milk before giving her a piece to suck on Smile. She's suffering really badly from constipation at the moment, no doubt due to changes in diet. I try to make sure she's having enough to drink (and also making her bottles more diluted) but resorted to a teaspoon of choccy spread this evening! (she wasn't complaining!!).
Time for a rest before bottles!! I HATE doing them (and get really irritated when the damn things always seem to leak when I'm shaking them!!Have never solved the mystery of why that happens!!). You can tell I'm tired today!! BTW, much better night's sleep last night, so fingers crossed for tonight!!

browniechick · 17/06/2006 19:46

Hello All. Sorry to hear poor Nat has conjuntivitus Nova - hope it clears soon.
Anyone else finding this heat really tiring? I am soo tired all the time - the really early wake up calls from T aren't helping! But he does sleep through pretty much every night tho, so can't complain too much. I am with you Rodeo - I know I should be going to bed early - but just don't seem to be able to force myself - partly cos it's my time, and partly cos I sometimes forget that I am going to be woken up anywhere between 5 and 6 am!
HAven't really bothered with snacks too much here - he has fruit at nursery, and on Friday they tried him with pieces of pear to suck on (apparently he absolutely loved it! previously it had always been pureed) and in the afternoon, he had little pieces of cheese sandwich!
My Nanna has now come down from Widnes for the week(my M&D are putting her up, Dad went & fethched her today) and then my Uncle goes back tomorrow, having been down here for 2 weeks.
I am having fil & his wife, M,D and my Nanna for Sunday dinner tomorrow - this is turning into a full scale catering job!!! Grin
Have just had a BBQ in the garden, and am having a couple of shandies at the mo! am starting to feel a bit tipsy!! Grin
Oh yes, Nova - goorgeeeous piccies of Nat on Yahoo - DH said, what a lovely looking baby (he was looking over my shoulder at the time)- very nice - and for what its worth - she doesn't look in the slightest bit heavy to me - totally in proportion, and very beautiful Smile
Brownie

novadandypowder · 17/06/2006 20:16

Thanks for the compliments ladies, someone actually stood opened mouthed in amazement yesterday when I said she was a girl (rolls eyes).

Re: biscotti/choking - are you sure it's not just Z's natural gagging reflex? It's nothing to worry about, just his way of making sure he doesn't choke. Naddy does it quite often when she tries to ram a sandwich in before she's swallowed the last mouthful. She loves the biscotti, but like Z has gone off her food in the hot afternoons.

Diege - we went to Hotel Chocolat on High St Ken today, choccy heaven!! We now have a fridge full of naughties...

We filled a big fun tub (that we used for chilling beer at the bbq) with some water and play balls today and let Naddy splash around in it in the lounge. Everything got soaked but she had a ball.

She hasn't quite got the hang of her walker yet and pushes herself with both feet at the same time rather than walking, and keeps going to the left (like a dodgy shopping trolly), but it's very funny watching her zoom around.

Rodeo · 17/06/2006 21:00

Evening :)
Dh's turn to have a night out tonight, and for some reason I'm watching Italy vs USA, there is nothing on the TV tonight! Might have a look what's on ntl's 'on demand'. Ooh but BB's on in a bit - did anyone see Grace get evicted last night? And her chucking water over Susie? LOL what a brat! Don't like Mikey either, stealing beer, the git - I think that would've tipped me over the edge too! Anyway, don't want to bore Chacha :).....
Indoor splash & ball pool sounds fun Nova! Oh and a boy indeed!!
Must try J with these biscotti - who make's them? She loves all biscuity things, inc. gingernuts, but they're soooo messy! All squidged between her podgy fingers, and then she'll usually come over all tired and mashes dirty hands into her eyes and hair!
Chacha, where is your dh? Didn't know he was away, lovely you and Z can see him on the webcam, modern technology's marvellous!
LOL Brownie at you getting tipsy on shandies! BBQ sounds lovely - why do we all live so far apart?!! It's be great to have a nice girly get-together in someone's back garden when the weather's this lovely :) Let's all move!

browniechick · 17/06/2006 21:48

Amen to that Rodeo! I don't really like Big Cities (for that, read London!), but often find myself extremely envious of those that can meet up on a regular basis Envy Blush!
And in my defence of the tipsiness on mere shandies - I hadn't had much to eat at that point, have now troughed my way through some hot dogs with onions, some cous cous and some chicken - and am now polishing off some twiglets! (had a real mad craving for twiglets whilst pg - couldn't get enough! ate the entire supply in one pub!!!! and before you all ask - am def not pg again, no energy for any of that milarky!!!!!)
Brownie Smile

Rodeo · 17/06/2006 22:09

Grin Brownie - didn't mean to LOL at the tipsy-ness, sounds like your having a lovely time! Oooh Twiglets! I've just scanned the kitchen cupboards for something snacky but can't find anything, I could really do with some Lime Doritos or BBQ Pringles.... didn't go food shopping today and I'm regreting it now!
Although did buy some bargain bronze gladiator/roman style sandals today, am keeping myself occupied by tying them in various ways.....god, I'm bored!!

BEKsmum · 17/06/2006 22:16

Evening girls

Brownie sounds like you've had the perfect summers day today, very nice.

Nova the pics of Nat are gorgeous, how could anyone say she looks like a boy - some people are so dumb [head shaking emoticon] Sounds like she had great fun splashing around.

Tell me more about this Hotel Chocolat - my mouth fell open when I read that - is it anywhere near the park on Tuesday 'cos if it is I'm going to need serious restraint to stay away from there Grin Shame you can't make it by the way, sure we can't twist your arm?

Chacha I've bought my dh Revolver for Fathers Day - more for me than him though!

Rodeo the Biscotti are made by Heinz I've found them in Sainsbury's and Superdrug so far - Tom loves them and now just wants whatever everyone else is eating. The little monkey covered me from head to toe in cottage pie to day, Benthought it was hilarious as did my mum, Tom just looks bemused when I tell him not to blow raspberries with his mouth full.

GG sounds like a stressful time for you, let us know if we can help in anyway.

I'm going to have too overtired boys tomorrow as we've only just got in from my brothers and the boys are noramlly in bed by 8pm - Should be fun considering we're supposed to be going out for a Chinese tomorrow.

Right off to watch a dvd and to try and make myself have an early night as like the rest of you I just can't do it but I know it's my turn to get up tomorrow - rats Grin

Happy Fathers day to all the daddies espeially the first timers - enjoy your day. Beks

BEKsmum · 17/06/2006 22:48

Nova

What have you done to me, I've just looked at the website for Hotel Chocolat - and I've drooled all over the keyboard - I'm in love and it's not with my dh {grin]

I know what I'm gonna be dreaming about tonight!!!Grin

ChaCha · 17/06/2006 23:05

Hi Beks - Nice present. I watched it earlier this evening. Will discuss with you once you've watched it yourself. Be interested to know what you thought of it.

Rodeo - DH is in Morocco with a friend. Thank you for sparing me BB details but as I'm in the minority don't mind me :) What I can't get over is the camera on a bunch of people who are fast asleep! DO people watch that too?

Nova - Chocolate Hotel sounds very ambiguous..tell us more!

Diege - Often have that happen with our bottles too. Bottles routine can often be a bit of a faff, especially here. It is associated with unloading/loading dishwasher and washing machine three times a day..yawn.

Hi Brownie - sounds like lovely day. I cleaned the bathroom including tiles (i have discovered soda crystals) while grandad took LO out. It gets even better!!!!

LO has spotted bright screen of laptop and is making his way here....off i go x

ChaCha · 17/06/2006 23:07

Am i the only one with a LO that sleeps whenever he likes or are you all on routines?

GarfieldsGirl · 18/06/2006 01:15

ChaCha - Sean has no routine, which we find a bit bad at 4am when he's laughin and chattering away. I don't like eating in summer si I wouln't worry btoo mu7ch abourt Zayn not eating lots, I'm sure he'll let you know if jhe needs nood.

nova - aah at Nat in ball pool soaking everything and roaming arounf inwalkewr.

Rodeo not really watching BB, but have a biiig thing about scouse accents, so Mikey is lurvely to me, just so I can listen to him. Have watched the bStevie G thing on Sky1 3 times already!

Hve arranded to see Fuireman Sam in July, Girls Akoud oin August, so so excited about tat its an open air concert cannot waIT, I love 'em, and chitty chitty bang bang next year. should be good.

I am so so so so drunk, like iu bcan't tell!!!!!!!!n Got called munchkins by bsom,e silly moo in toilets, so me and my friend re shortartses, do we care, NO!!!! rEAALLY Should go to bed but room spinning, can't figure anything out. But i'm gonna see GA soon wahoo bni'n soooo excited! Really need to go to bed, but i'm very drubk, I shazred a bottle of wine and a cicktai; jug, and so e food which was very nice.

BEKs - lol, DP and I do that, but each othe pressies we want, luckily we have the same taste so its ok.

Twiglets - is that something to do with ttc or am I rea;;y that drunk that I think twiglets are something to so with being pg?

night night people xxx

GarfieldsGirl · 18/06/2006 08:23

Blush Blush Blush

Diege · 18/06/2006 08:47

Morning!! lol GG!! Bet you're feeling a bit rough this morning Grin Wink. Oh and if you were still wondering, twigglets are circa 1980s savoury snacks that you either love or hate!Grin. Also intrigued by Nova's hotel Chocolat...mmmm, must investigate further!!! Have a thing at the moment about Ritter Sports (the white ones with nuts in), but still trying to shift the lasy 8 pounds with SW, so must resist!!
Well, off to work soon, so catch up tonight (lots of scouse accents there for you GG!)

novadandypowder · 18/06/2006 09:21

GG - pmsl!!!!! Grin

Diege (and all other chocy fans link{http://www.hotelchocolat.co.uk/cx1/?src=google&cid=HTTXAXE0308XPKZ5L71TUGZOXZZMVI4H\hotel chocolat}

Also - what do you mean 'do' bottles? Do you still make them in advance? My life has been revolutionised by bunging the bottles in the dishwasher at night then making them as I go in the morning. Just with tap water and powder. Can't believe I used to spend ages each night doing them.

The good thing about Nat going to the left in the walker is that she's currently just going around in a big circle!!

novadandypowder · 18/06/2006 09:22

bugger, I'll try that again \link{http://www.hotelchocolat.co.uk/cx1/?src=google&cid=HTTXAXE0308XPKZ5L71TUGZOXZZMVI4H\hotelchocolat}

Rodeo · 18/06/2006 10:14

Morning!

GG - you are funny Grin LOL at the toilet incident! Hope you are feeling ok this morning, couple of paracetamols, full breakfast and coke is my remedy :)
Oh no Diege - you're at work today? Not for long I hope :)
Nova, didn't know you could make bottles up with tap water? So many times I've not had any boiled water so had to boil it and wait for it to cool! Thanks for the tip :)
Think I'm going to attempt a semi-diet this week, my mother is now lighter than me and my sister and we are not impressed Grin
Happy father's day to all the daddies! Jess is having a good go at 'dada' today, but she just needs to shorten it to 2 syllables as currently it's dadadadadadadadadadadadadadaaa....
Have a lovely day everyone, off to see my dad later, better go and get dp up - he's having a father's day lie-in (he also had a heavy night last night GG!)

BEKsmum · 18/06/2006 12:02

Morning

GG rofl Grin Bet you're feeling it today!!! 2 paracetamols and a diet coke work wonders!!!

Diege boo at working today, hope it's not for too long.

Chacha Thomas has found his own routine in that he gets up, stays awake for about 2 hours then goes to sleep for anything rom 20 mins to 2hrs, he has a late nap anywhere between 4 & 5pm and is ready for bed at 8pm. I have to stress none of this is my doing, I'm just very lucky that both boys like their sleep just like me.

Both dh and Ben had a lie in this morning, would have been the perfect Sunday only shame was Thomas got up at 7am so I had to get up too.

Dh pleased with his pressies and now we're off to Greenwich to take Ben on the Cutty Sark then out for chinese later yum! Have seen my dad this morning but he got here before I'd written his card so had to dash to the kitchen to do it and Ben wouldn't let him in the house till I had - subtle as brick my child Grin

Right hope everyone is enjoying their weekend , catch up with your goings on later Beks

novadandypowder · 18/06/2006 17:41

Rodeo - apparently you can use tap water from 6 months, or use certain brands of bottled water (which is what we did on hols, Evian, Spa, Vittel and Volvic are some that I can remember are low in sodium). She likes plain water much better now that it's not been pre-boiled.

Feel a bit bad for DH - he spent half of fathers day doing the shopping in Sainsburys. Nat did get him a nice card though that listed all her favourite things about Daddy Grin

Hope you're all having a good weekend, and just think of your day in lieu Diege Smile

browniechick · 18/06/2006 18:31

Grin GG - aboslutely pmsl at your drunken ramblings!!! It has made me Smile!!!! Bless you - and don't think Twiglets are anything to do with TTC, or PG - but it was just a food I couldn't get enough of when pregnant with Thomas, I love marmite, and thus love twiglets yummy!
I didn't know that either Nova, about the non-boiled water in bottles I mean. I knew that I could give T non-boiled to drink (I have unearthed my water filter, so he has filtered water) but it never occured to me that I could use that in his milk too! What a dumbass I am Blush
Do you think it would be ok to use filtered water to make up his bottles? It would certainly make life a lot easier! But we still make up 3 bottles the night before - which makes it soo much easier, specially on nursery days!
Had a houseful for lunch - it was lovely! T had both Grandads, his Grandma, his Nanny and his Great NAnna - so had lots of love and attention (not that he doesn't usually!) and also a wonderful new audience to show off what he can do - including his new words, Bababababa and Mamamama (well that's what it sounds like to me!!!! Grin) and if there was a prize for determination, T would get it, he spent ages trying to manouevre himself to get at a toy which was just out of his reach - depsite a little tantrum for about 15 secs, he got there and got it - what a star!!!! Am now realising that this means he will be crawling soon, and then there will be no stopping him! Am going to have to get a fireguard, cos we have a brick surround fireplace which has a slab hearth - both of which have really harsh edges so will need T-proofing!
Anyway, off to trawl internet for baby goodies for a bit - my Nanna has said she'd get the fireguard, but then (step)mil said her Mum had one that has hardly been used, and we can have it - so looks like Nanna will get him something else instead! Am thinking we also need a stairgate of some description - any recommendations?
