Welcome Aprilites Smile

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ecuse · 13/04/2014 12:39

Oh my goodness, 20th, how horrible. I've done one night over a couple of times with J and it's awful. 5 nights must have been a nightmare. And she's so little Sad
Sorry to hear about night terrors and tonsillitis as well. It's definitely a bad week! Anyone got any good news...?!

GreenFirefly · 13/04/2014 21:28

Eeek, 20th, glad you're back home now and they looked after you well.

I've finally managed to do the password reset. I'm really glad as I was lost during night feeds without mumsnet last night :)

TwentiethCenturyGirl · 13/04/2014 22:48

I was too firefly. I'm not awake enough to read a book but need something to entertain me when I'm up at an ungodly time in the early hours!

Daisy17 · 14/04/2014 08:08

Blimey, 20th, so glad all is ok now, how terrifying. And get well soon to all the other poorly ones. Thanks Brew

The sun shone for S's birthday yesterday, nursery friends in the park in the morning and family and friends at home in the afternoon, all a great success. No accidents of any kind all day either. Grin Although hysterically funny when S yelled Poo Time in a crowded room and ran up the stairs! Shock Grin

NomDeClavier · 14/04/2014 11:44

It's awful, isn't it, 20th? Worse than SCBU in a way because they're not surrounded by other teeny ones.

Birthdays sound great fun! I'm slightly terrified about hosting my first kids' party. They're going to run riot and trash the house! And I have to make a cake in our capricious oven. And he'll be 3.

Question: has anyone else's Threenager started to have teenage style friendships/relationships? M has crushes on at least 3 little girls!

13Stitches · 14/04/2014 13:53

Sounds frightening, 20th. Glad everything is ok.

We've had a letter from student finance demanding DH's dependent a grant back in one go. Apparently we didn't give them enough paperwork. We sent tonnes. But not enough and now they want thousands. No idea what we'll do. I think DH is on the phone to them now. I'm quietly panicking.

Party sounds great Daisy!

13Stitches · 14/04/2014 13:54

We can take out a loan. It'll be ok.

NomDeClavier · 14/04/2014 14:17

Oh cripes 13. Any chance they just lost it?

13Stitches · 14/04/2014 18:26

Nope, they just want seemingly random things from 2-3 years ago. We're embarrassingly disorganised in terms of paperwork. It's all stashed around in piles. So I've no idea where things might be.

However, an organisational plan was already underway. So hopefully stepping that up a notch means we'll find the bits ASAP.

We have a fortnight to try to get it sorted or to make a payment. Either way, it'll be sorted in a fortnight. A loan will be manageable. But I did need a new car!

13Stitches · 14/04/2014 18:28

I get the full-on stomach knotting dread with financial stuff. I hate it!

Kittycatcat · 14/04/2014 19:49

I'm the same 13.

ecuse · 14/04/2014 21:57

I'm sharing your financial woe - just got a letter from baliffs completely out of the blue saying that they'll be turning up at the house in 7 days to claim a £200 unpaid council tax bill I had never previously heard of.

Apparently a court order was issued in January. But I have had no correspondence, no summons, nothing. I think this is something that's fallen through the gaps from moving - the council would have had old address, and the post was only forwarded for a few months. I think the baliffs must have just been a bit more enterprising in terms of finding forwarding address (although I'm a bit creeped out as to how they would have done that).

Anyway, I'm pretty sure it would have been a mistake in the first place and I didn't actually owe the council anything. But if a court order has already been issued in my absence then I can just tell this is going to be a MASSIVE ballache to sort out, and I could really do without it.

I am feeling fighty. Angry Angry

13Stitches · 14/04/2014 23:20

Massive ballache sums it up.

Good job it's the Easter holidays or we'd never have the time to sift through everything at length.

Hope yours is sorted out quickly & painlessly ecuse.

GlaikitFizzEgg · 16/04/2014 19:18

sorry for all the money woes.

I have good news though........

I'm going to be an auntie! :o

DSis is surprisingly PG, shocked but happy. I'm not allowed to tell anyone (you guys don't count!) but I'm bursting! She is 13 weeks but only found out last week! I'm so excited! Plus it might shut my mum up about us having another!

I need to knit...........

NomDeClavier · 16/04/2014 19:29

Yay fizz! Get knitting!

The countdown to the birthday party is on. I have picked up a disposable tablecloth, plates, cups and paper napkins along with balloons, hats, party bags and associated tat. What games do I play?! I forgot wrapping paper for pass the parcel. This is more stressful than having DH's boss for dinner!

I also don't actually have a present for him. What have you got/will you get? Inspire me!

GlaikitFizzEgg · 16/04/2014 19:37

Balance bike!

Don't know about games, we have a huge hall and a bouncy castle. I'm hoping that's enough. Other mum has calmed down a bit and not feeding the 5000! I've made up 30 cones of additive riddled sweets in lieu of party bags that will have a balloon attached to take home. Just need to sort the cake. To bake or not to bake???

I'm still :o from the news! Poor sis is very private, she hates the idea that people now know she has DTD! Bless, she will need to get over it quick!

13Stitches · 16/04/2014 20:14

Woo! Congratulations Fizz and DSis!

I second the balance bike. We got one for F's 2nd birthday, but he really wasn't ready for it. In the last fortnight, however, (since he turned 3) he's suddenly got it and is zooming!

Kittycatcat · 16/04/2014 21:16

Yay fizz Grin

ecuse · 17/04/2014 11:14

We're getting Joanna a pink bike, at her explicit request. It's so cute, it has little stabilisers and everything :) Even though I generally hate pink things, I'm excited for her.

I think her party is going to be a disaster - we left it till really late to book anywhere and therefore to send out invites and now I've hardly heard back from anyone and I fear there are going to be about 3 kids there and she is SO excited about having a party. I really don't want her to be disappointed Sad

Excellent news, Fizz. I keep harassing my sister to get on it. I am dying to be an auntie!

13Stitches · 19/04/2014 21:14

How's all the party planning coming on? Any more RSVPs, ecuse?

We're doing our first car boot tomorrow. I have a feeling it's going to be tricky with F with us. The iPad is primed with films!

NomDeClavier · 20/04/2014 19:23

Golly you're brave 13. Films on the iPad sounds an excellent idea.

Party here TOMORROW! I am cake baking tonight. And tons of tiny cannelés. I took 48 to an Easter egg hunt today, 9 adults scoffed the lot.

We eventually decided on a big expansion set and an electric train for his brio. We don't have anywhere to put a bike at the moment :( and he has a scooter.

M has just started to play with other children! I was despairing of this day ever coming. But 2 weekends ago he played with a little boy he's never met at a wedding and this weekend he played very patiently with a girl a year younger even though she was pushing and being possessive of her toys. We have social skills!

Completely off topic I've been doing off the wall cooking - savoury crumble! I'll let you know how it turns out.

ecuse · 23/04/2014 17:23

Oooh savoury crumble. How was it? I made one once, years ago. Was good, but as it had beetroot in, it turned out VERY pink.

We have 10 acceptances so far (not including the various doting grandparents/aunts) so hopefully we should at least be quorate.

Now to worry about the blue dinosaur cake she has requested... Have just amazon primed a load of different coloured fondant icing...

TwentiethCenturyGirl · 24/04/2014 16:15

So, how have the parties gone so far? We're still undecided about what to do/get for DD, although her tantrums have been so epic of late that I'm not sure she deserves anything! She's significantly harder work than the baby at the moment...

ecuse - you know we're going to need pictures of the blue dinosaur creation don't you?! [ Grin

Finally, has anybody seen ILTMIMI around of late? The number of us Aprilites seems to be dwindling!

GlaikitFizzEgg · 24/04/2014 18:07

I am in full on party mode. I need to make up sweet cones, bake and ice a robot cake, inflate helium balloons (this will need to be done about 30 seconds before we leave the house otherwise Blair will have them all burst). On top of that my mum dad Dbro and dsil(not married but that's what she is) are all coming down tomorrow night. So I need to clean the oven Wink in preparation of the royal visit! Still need to collect his balance bike and something from the sorting office. Bathroom needs cleaning and the garden needs weeded.

Oh and at some point I need to clear out the toys to make space for all the new ones!

I might not go to bed tonight!!

TwentiethCenturyGirl · 24/04/2014 18:27

A robot cake! You're all putting me to shame - I'm planning to whip up a bog standard sponge with icing and candles.

Fizz - I want pics of your masterpiece too please!
