A robot has been requested, but I also have a Micky mouse cake in my tesco shop coming tomorrow! Do not feel ashamed, this could end in disaster!

NomDeClavier · 24/04/2014 22:48

My train was okay. I hate fondant icing though! Party was lovely and he was super happy to have his little friends over.

But but BUT we have the pox. And he's supposed to be taking a cake etc into nursery school tomorrow so they can sing happy birthday, he can blow out the candles, he can be special and he can have his photo in the roundup. And he can't. Because he has chickenpox. And I haven't told him yet. He's going to be so upset. I'm upset. I'm crying just thinking about how upset he will be. Why is this parenting thing so hard?

GlaikitFizzEgg · 25/04/2014 07:58

Will they do it when he is better? It sucks, can you just spoil him extra? He might not be that fussed

Cake baked last night, just need to turn it into something that resembles a robot now Confused. I am never doing a party again!

ecuse · 25/04/2014 13:37

Oh, nom that has made me really sad :(

Yes, can you ask them to do it when he's better?

Kittycatcat · 25/04/2014 15:20

Awh no nomHmm

GlaikitFizzEgg · 26/04/2014 08:24

It's done!!

Kittycatcat · 27/04/2014 14:18

Pics?

GlaikitFizzEgg · 27/04/2014 16:07

There is one in my post, do you use the app? I'll post on FB

13Stitches · 27/04/2014 18:42

Beautiful cake! Well done!

NomDeClavier · 28/04/2014 09:17

I hate not being able to see pictures on the app. It makes MNing while BFing so much duller because people keep posting interesting stuff that I can't see. Thank goodness for FB. Amazing cake though Fizz. I hope you are rightfully proud.

M is running up and down the lounge covered in spots and calamine. I'm hiding on the stairs. I was a terrible person and sent him to play with my parents on an abandoned railway line yesterday afternoon and I'm considering bundling him into the buggy and putting the raincover on and going for a remote walk today. I am useless at being housebound!

ecuse · 28/04/2014 11:33

I can't see the harm in going on remote walks, Nom, you should do it. As long as he's bundled up and not directly interacting with kids/pregnant women I think it's fine. Stay sane!

Pic of the dinosaur cake attached - the eyes ran overnight so the effect is a bit.... Alice Cooper! Suffice it to say, it doesn't look exactly like the picture but it wasn't a disaster...

ecuse · 28/04/2014 11:35

Fizz - silver icing? Did you buy that ready made or colour it? It's amazing!!

GlaikitFizzog · 28/04/2014 14:01

I coloured white icing with a bit of black and bought one of those lustre sprays. My kitchen has a sparkly sheen!!

NomDeClavier · 28/04/2014 16:17

At least it'll be more attractive to be in Grin or your kitchen will be cleaner than ever trying to get it all off!

Oh I hate hate hate the pox. However today we have made meringues, creme pat and choux buns are in the oven.

TwentiethCenturyGirl · 30/04/2014 14:38

Both those cakes are amazing - very creative ladies. DD has specified only that her cake should be chocolate a girl after my own heart - a request that even my limited skills should be able to fulfill.

How are the pox doing Nom?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 30/04/2014 14:48

I am here

I have been snooping, but not being able to post. My Ipad won't let me for some reason Confused and the Android app on my phone is shite.

I can't believe our babies are three (or there abouts!) Where has the time gone. I think I'm feeling it more because I is my last.

We had a house full of family on I's birthday so he had a ball. I done my usual dodge and got my friends to make a cake. She's amazeballs and my efforts are truly shocking.

Crème pat and choux buns? blimey, I'm coming over nom. How's M doing? Cpox is doing the rounds here again at the moment and neither of mine have had it yet.................

I've just found out the course I was going to do part time next year has now changed to full time. So if I can't find an alternative I'll be starting it a year later than expected. bummer

Pox are healing over but we are still quarantined until tomorrow. No new spots today. There's only so much playing with cars I can do and his attention span is horribly limited. And DH is away until Friday. Balls.

What course is it ILTMI? You're more than welcome to come. My waistline is regretting this spate of baking enthusiasm.

Chocolate cake is the best. Also far less complicated to make! Unless she wants a chocolate castle cake like the one doing the rounds on FB which makes me snigger wildly.

I don't know what to cook for dinner. Inspiration anyone?

TwentiethCenturyGirl · 30/04/2014 20:33

Hello ILike - welcome back!

Glad that the pox are improving. Have they both had it or just M?

I was lacking inspiration for tea too. We ended up having a bizarre combination of parma ham wrapped asparagus to start, followed by a fishfinger sandwich. We're dead posh here Grin I'm going to try and snuffle out some left over easter egg now. Wish me luck!

GreenFirefly · 30/04/2014 20:41

hello, just re-checking in. will post properly later Smile

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 01/05/2014 14:00

I love the asparagus/fish finger fusion Grin

I love asparagus wrapped in parma ham with a wedge of feta between the two and baked in the oven. yuuuuuuuuuuuuuum.

I seemingly spend my life searching for dinner inspiration..................

The course was an Access course in Humanities and Social Science. It suited me because I have been out of the workplace and studying for so long that I need something to ease me in. It's also quite a broad subject so I'm hoping that covering various topics will give me more of an idea of what I would like to pursue in the future.

Blimey ds3 has been a challenging little shite today. Everything is 'no'. No amount of choices or negotiation seem to work with him

Then as we were walking out of the door today ds2 announced that he didn't want to go to the afterschool club that he previously desperately wanted to do He has only done one week so far, so I'm hoping after a few weeks he gets used to how it is (he's not one for change and new things).

Enough moaning now. I'm off to book group tonight so I'll relax with friends and a glass of wine Smile

schlafenfreude · 02/05/2014 00:17

tis the poxy one

Only M has it thankfully. At least he's old enough to drug and distract with DVDs understand a bit.

We ended up having risotto. Not very inspiring but one pot and easy, although now I really fancy asparagus and feta.

TwentiethCenturyGirl · 02/05/2014 17:56

I also really fancy trying the asparagus and feta combo. I normally shave some parmesan over the top of mine, so am not adverse to a bit of cheese!

DD1 has had some horrific meltdowns today. We were ok until about 3pm and then it's been non-stop since then. It's knackering. Thank goodness that DH is home now and it's bank holiday weekend Grin. Wine tonight I think!

Kittycatcat · 03/05/2014 19:59

Just my three year old with verbal diorreah?

13Stitches · 03/05/2014 21:40

Kitty: F gives a stream of rambling most of the time. Occasionally people will suggest that his tantrums are because he's frustrated about not being able to express himself. They haven't heard his ability to argue/demand/verbally problem solve!

We've had a lot of wet pants this week. And today the first "mummy there's poo in my pants". Whilst trying out a sleeping bag and camp bed in a tent in the camping shop.

Fortunately it was only small and contained. That could have been so much worse!

GreenFirefly · 06/05/2014 20:13

It's taken me a while to get back to post but here I am.

We now have crawling in the Firefly house, and pulling up to standing. Baby A is into everything. It;s making life interesting... - does anyone have any ideas what I can do with a 3 year old and a 9 month old in an afternoon? We go to soft play once a week, and a playgroup another afternoon but they days when we're in the house I'm at a loss and we end up watching far too much Tree Fu Tom, Octonauts, Peter Rabbit and Mr Men - about 4 hours today :(
I did get M out in the garden briefly but I have to be holding A all the time, or put her in a play pen which she then complains about. If I leave M to play out on her own she starts digging in my pots.

Any ideas gratefully received.

13, did you get a tent? I think we're giving camping a miss this year but will be back to it next year when A is older.
