Wondering if granny has any happy news yet?
reastie the pics so far of your kitchen look gorgeous, whether you choose to include Rodders is your call!
Poor A having bad dreams, ponyo must be horrid. We should so meet up when you are back from hols, i'd love to see the girls together.
delia hi, nice to hear from you! No useful potty training tips here, C simply hides in a corner to wee on the floor (or towels or in her toybox) if i leave her nappyless.
expat L's love of ketchup sounds funny, hope he doesn't growinto one of those men who drowns lovely meals in the stuff!
blizy good on you getting back to the gym after a blip, slip ups are part of life and they can be used as an excuses to give up or simply accepted and moved on from. You sound like you're doing great :)
Oh i have to tell you about maybe my most humiliating motherhood experience to date. On Saturday my sisters and i took C to quite a nice town near us, had lunch etc etc, then went for a browse in the Oxfam bookshop. All was going well, then C shouted Poo!
I turned to see what i thought was a dry leaf near my foot, sadly it was indeed poo, and as i grabbed a baby wipe to wipe it off the carpet I realid its consistency was less than firm. Turned in horror to see a second pile of poo, and a stream of poo down the back of C's leg....
My traitorous sister burst into horrified laughter then ran out of the shop, i desperately swiped at the poo on the floor, bundled C under my arm and legged it, clutching the shitty baby wipes and wanting to die. Can never go in there again.

Reastie · 29/07/2013 15:11

Well I'm sure you'll all be pleased to hear Rodney is staying Grin . I put it up to see what DH though and he said he couldn't work out if he loved it or hated it, but seeing as he had already been named we are keeping him Grin . Went shopping today for accessories for the dining room and got some lovely bits which I will bore you all when it's finished (btw, never even bother taking the toddlers shopping with you, it's so stressful trying to pick out lampshades when Alice is running around the glass lamps looking like she's going to smash them all Confused ). Kitchen hopefully done by this week end coming but floor in dining room/hall will take even longer Confused - will I ever get my house back?! Am seeing rest at my parents house as they are on holiday, We have no electrics at home at the minute and we needed to watch cbeebies Blush .

Mizk I'm so sorry but that is hilarious. Only as it wasn't me though you understand, I'd be mortified! Hope oxfam books isn't your favourite shop now you can't go there again Wink . You see this is another reason for me not to hurry with potty training!

Granny really hope things are happening for you, or they do very soon, must be getting pretty uncomfortable for you now.

ledkr hope you manage to have a lovely holiday after the stressful journey.

american love the ketchup addict story. Alice loves ketchup and when we try to get her to eat vegetables we sometimes give her a bit of ketchup to help encourage her to eat them but she also just licks off the ketchup from the vegetables and eats no veg at all.

americanexpat · 29/07/2013 18:49

reastie - I completely understand needing CBeebies. I've been on my own with L since Saturday morning and he watched loads of Sesame Street and Yo Gabba Gabba yesterday. We were both exhausted and grumpy and I had housework to do. Still I'm a bit Blush about it.

MizK - oh the shame!

Granny - do we need to mandate periodic check ins from you? Grin I hope your sweep today kicks things off. I had my second sweep with L the day before he was born (Valentines Day - how romantic!), hard to tell if it was the sweep or if he was just ready.

Ponyo - one of my work colleagues drinks coffee out of a mason jar, I'm a bit Hmm about it. Doesn't he burn his hand? Confused Perhaps some colourful kitchen twine tied around your mason jar would make you feel less of a prat? Grin

ILovePonyo · 29/07/2013 22:01

Aaaaagh MizK that is both hilarious and cringy, oh Cass! Grin Shock Love that your sister just ran away. I'll give you a text when we're back from hols, a trip to the park would be good!

reastie I bet your house will look so lovely when its all done. I also know what you mean about cbeebies. PIL came this weekend and gave us their old Ipad, well A has figured it out within hours and can now spend ages watching videos of 'monkeys jumping on the bed' on youtube, ridiculous!

American I am also Hmm about the coffee/mason jar business, is he a bit pretentious? Grin Hm yes maybe I could weave a nice cover for my jar, that would make all the difference Wink

I have been doing list upon list for my hols, very satisfying. Just hope with all my 'planning' I don't forget the bloody passports or something.
PIL visit at the weekend was fine, A liked seeing them and even though it was knackering it was nice to have them here.
We went to a bbq at a friends house on Sat night, A played with 2 older kids so loved that, and was shattered by bedtime, hooray! Its scary sometimes how much they idolise older children, she would literally d anything her 4 yo friend said. I don't know if its like that with siblings?

wigglesrock · 29/07/2013 22:35

reastie yay for Rodders Smile

americanexpat Olivias favourite food is red sauce tomato ketchup. Last year when she had her "open day" before starting school, the canteen did some sausages and stuff to make the whole dinners experience easier for the kids and after they all went up and got their little plates, about 60 four year olds in unison wailed "Mum where's the tomato sauce?" it was so funny Smile

MizK a friend of mine had the same experience with his little girl but in Next Smile

ponyo Anna idolises Sofia and Olivias friends - strangely not Olivia herself Grin but she always looks out for "her fwiends" as she says. Emma my niece who's a year younger than Anna adores Olivia and Olivias brilliant with her, it's because she knows we can hand her back Smile

ILovePonyo · 30/07/2013 18:42

Aaagh help, A has got spots and we're due to go on hols in 2 days Confused

They're not on her tummy, they're mostly on her legs and arms, they look like 'normal' spots and don't seem to be bothering her.

I'm going to ring the docs in the morning, what if it's chicken pox? Does that mean no holiday?!

Reastie · 30/07/2013 18:50

I have no idea ponyo Confused . Do you have holiday insurance ?

wigglesrock · 30/07/2013 18:57

ponyo Anna has heat rash - small red spots. I also posted a few months ago about clusters of spots/rash type thing that Sofia had. They were viral spots, the rash actually comes at the end of a virus - she had no other symptoms.

I know it's difficult, but try not to panic. There was also a thread last week re exactly the same situation - the mum was convinced it was chickenpox - they were gone the next day.

Anna also has had a few what looks like pimples, it's hormones - they get a wee surge at this age.

Don't panic yet xx

Hi all. You maybe glad to know my bowels are no longer liquid and I'm happily chillin in me awning necking Rose vino and annoying dh with my burping Grin
mizk when d was about a yr we were in a harvester and she did a pooh in her nappy. Ella went to change her in the changing room but brought her back half dressed as the pooh had gone up her back down her legs and practically everywhere. I literally didn't know what to do so wrapped her in my coat and ran through the restaurant to the changing room where a middle class mum was changing her baby on the floor whilst fuming about the mess some bastard had made Blush I fessed up and cleaned it up but d was so bad that the mum even offered to take her dd back to her dh and come back to help.
The worst was when I pulled the best over her head and the shit went all over her face and hair Grin

Ledkr · 30/07/2013 19:00

ponyo touché eclait will cover those spots up nicely!

ILovePonyo · 30/07/2013 19:09

Ha thanks ledkr Wink glad you're better! You enjoy your rose you deserve it Wine

Oh thank you wiggles, that's what I needed to hear! Smile She's got an ulcer on her tongue too, maybe that could be virus related? She's also just taken her pants off and has got some massive spots on her bum HmmGrin
Ah will keep you up to date on spotty anya watch...

americanexpat · 30/07/2013 19:48

Great news about your bowels, ledkr. Grin

Ponyo - I was convinced thought L had chicken pox in January, as he came out in spots on his torso, but they eventually went away. The nursery director said it may have just been a virus. I do think you'll need to cancel/postpone your holiday if it actually is chicken pox - you would get a massive flaming on MN if you took a child contagious with CP on a flight. Or maybe DP can stay home with her while you enjoy your holiday?

wiggles - hormone surge, you say? I'm desperately trying to figure out what's causing L's sleep problems and hoping it's just the move and will settle itself soon. I finally got him to bed at 9:45 last night and he was up at 5 this morning. Shock Fortunately he's Someone Else's Problem (to steal Ponyo's phrase) today.

blizy · 30/07/2013 19:48

Ah Ponyo, I hope the spots are not the pox!

Grin at the poop stories!

Ledkr, I am so jealous of your Rosé wine, I have given up alcohol as part of my health kick.

I was at M & D's theme park today with my 2yr old mindee, it was fab (except for the mega tantrum because he couldn't go on the biggest roller coaster).
I have a meeting tomorrow evening for 1yr old twins, Would have them every Friday, my only day I have no wee ones, so I will be full if they come to me!

Reastie · 30/07/2013 21:08

wiggles can I blame the hormone surge on Alice's spirited behaviour too please?!

Blizy how's the gyn going? Do you feel fitter? You're brave taking a mindee to a theme park Grin (I'm a bit scared of rides)

ledkr Grin to your story. Bet you weren't Grin at the time though!

Ponyo hoping you will be able to breathe a sigh of relief.

american Leo's nighttime habits sounds like Alice's on and off sleeping habits - tis exhausting isn't it.

Well, hitch with kitchen floor - twas out of stock and fitter didn't realise so had to dash out and choose another one in a huge hurry. Hopefully it won't be a huge mistake...

ILovePonyo · 30/07/2013 21:39

Well miss spotty has had a bath and told me she is 'poorly' so gave her some calpol and she went to sleep... that is unusual so shes deffo not right! Fingers crossed for the morning. I would be gutted if it was chicken pox, I'd feel so bad for A after going on and on about holiday for so long :(

Enough self pity, reastie shame about the floor, you have a knack for decorating though so I bet it will look lovely anyway!

American I do believe delia originally came up with the SEP phrase! Grin Ugh, L's sleep sounds bad, late nights is one thing but followed by an early start... Shock

blizy fingers crossed for you, twins will keep you busy I'm sure Grin

Ledkr · 30/07/2013 21:41

We have had lots of spirited behaviour here too.
Including getting undressed everywhere and refusing to wear a costume in the pool resulting in a big chase round the pool whereupon I slipped and fell rather ungracefully!
I'm fuming now. I was current karaoke queen after thrashing out Zombie by the cranberries which got me a standing ovation, then of course some total diva comes along and sings Adele like a pro and steals my thunder.
Dh is in hysterics at my wrath!!

wigglesrock · 30/07/2013 21:47

americanexpat Anna has taken to waking up at around 5-5.15am. I mean she never slept past 6.30ish but 5.15am is just soooo early, although she's down for 7.30pm.

ponyo I can't scroll back but did you mention that A was up with bad dreams/nightmares, maybe she has had a bit of a virus? I get desperate bad dreams usually before I come down with something Hmm I don't really remember dreams and am certainly not aware of dreaming but I do get the most horrible dreams really occasionally and then about 3 days later I'm really fluey. Anyway hope spot watch is going the right way Smile

ledkr glad you're finally able to clench Wink

We are heading to Dublin or Duberlin as Olivia insists on calling it tomorrow. The zoo beckons - Anna is not coming, she's staying with my Mum. Sofia and Olivia are v excited, of course it's supposed to piss all day, but we are all looking forward to 2 hours in the car without Anna bellowing song requests at us. Adele, Rihanna or One Direction are her current faves I dislike Adeles music with a passion even I don't understand

OP posts:
blizy · 30/07/2013 21:49

Ledkr, what a bitch! I bet your song was better, I love that zombie song.

Uh oh, Ponyo. I hope Anya is ok.

Reastie, he is 2 so I didn't have to go on any big rides, the biggest was a caterpillar mini roller coaster. I'm sure the floor will be fab.

Gym is good and the I do feel fitter and much better for it.

wigglesrock · 30/07/2013 21:49

Oh ledkr we x posted, see Adele haunts me Shock

ponyo I think she's just a bit under the weather x

OP posts:
Ledkr · 30/07/2013 22:45

Yes wiggs and my song was good for you no?
I am finding myself speaking English with a very strong french accent for some reason and I speak my very limited French in a broad Gloucestershire accent. Very strange.

Grannyapple · 31/07/2013 04:34

Morning ladies...haven't done fb announcement yet, but just to let you know that Amelia Catherine Smith was born yesterday evening at 8.10pm. She is an exact clone of get brother in every way, shape & form...incl weight, length, tongue tie Hmm & labour!

Am shattered tho....forgot how noisy post natal wards can be! DH wanted to stay, but I told him there's no point in both of us only getting an hours sleep....

wigglesrock · 31/07/2013 06:26

Congratulations sweetheart Thanks Thanks Beautiful name. Take care xxxx

OP posts:
Reastie · 31/07/2013 06:39

Granny yay, congrats, that's fab news. Lovely name and can't wait to see piccies :)

ledkr Grin to karaoke. Are you speaking very s l o w l y and loudly too?! WHen we had new windows put in the fitters were all Polish and not great with English. DH spoke nice and slowly so they could understand but he also for some reason spoke incredibly loudly too like he was talking to a deaf and slightly muddled great aunt or something Hmm

wiggles Alice's favourite song is 'I am the Walrus' by the Beatles - every time we get in the car it's 'I want walrus/I want egg man' repeating over and over until she gets it. I used to like that song until I had to listen to it for the 10000000000000000000000th time!

blizy glad gym going well

Emski76 · 31/07/2013 06:52

Hi all. Have been lurking as usual but just wanted to come on quickly to say congrats to Granny on the birth of Amelia! Gorgeous name.
Hope everyone else is ok

Ledkr · 31/07/2013 08:18

Congratulations granny yes it's weird when you have the second one and they look so identical.
With ds 2 I only had a Polaroid as he was in scbu but I in my drugged state I kept saying "no that's not him that my other son!" The 4 eldest all looked identical then when they handed me dilly. Ginger and pale I had a real shock.
Get some rest today hon x
