reastie you gotta bin the guilt Smile. My life is so much easier since guilt became a banned word/feeling in this house.

ledkr God hope you feel better soon x

Poor Olivia has been waiting on a big thunderstorm all week. She's been very excited but it looks like she'll have to make do with boring sheets of rain Smile . Disappointed Olivia = slightly nervous me. By God if there's a way to will a thunderstorm she will to it!

Ledkr · 25/07/2013 14:05

D has a feckkng temperature now!!
Do you think we shouldn't be going away.

americanexpat · 25/07/2013 14:36

reastie - as far as I'm concerned, won money = frivolous money. Spend it on something you enjoy and tell your DH to feck off if he says anything.

My lips look horrible today. I usually put vaseline on them but forgot it at home yesterday, so I used some lanolin I had kicking around in my desk drawer. My lips got red within a few hours, now they're bright red, swollen, sore and weeping a bit. Sad Does this sound like a reaction/allergy? I had the same happen with another type of lip balm a few months ago. I've never had allergies but I've started reacting to eggs (itchy mouth) recently as well.

ledkr - hope you're feeling better today.

americanexpat · 25/07/2013 15:13

It seems the lip balm I had a reaction to before also contains lanolin so I'm wondering if I have a lanolin allergy. Wool doesn't seem to cause me problems though. Confused

Grannyapple · 25/07/2013 17:27

american lanolin is quite a common allergy...defo sounds like you should be steering clear of it. maybe not so much now, but Avon products used to be loaded with lanolin so steer clear of them too...

americanexpat · 25/07/2013 18:40

Is it really? I'd never heard of lanolin allergy before until I started googling.

How are you feeling today, Granny?

Grannyapple · 25/07/2013 19:01

Yeah fine....just had some more reflexology this afternoon (& found myself dozing off during it....only to wake with a startle!). Felt a bit more pressure down below after it whilst walking round sainsburys & when i got home but nothing more at the mo....think I need to go for a walk. But sweep booked for tomorrow morning...

Thanks for asking tho x

MizK · 25/07/2013 20:30

Heygranny a long walk did the trick for me last time, exciting times now that its all so close! Hope everything goes smoothly, lucky thing to be getting newborn cuddles soon:)
reastie speeeeeennnnd itttttt! And next time he annoys you, think smugly of your lovely new things. Or tell him and firmly ignore any suggestions that its anything other than money for treats.
ledkr aaargh such bad timing for your hols. Hope d's temp is nothing major and settles down. Obv it would be a nightmare to miss out so maybe just go still, with the necessary meds etc and see how it goes. If you stay home, everyone is certain to be right as rain the instant your ferry sails.
wiggles i think the happyland sounds a bit creepy! I'm not mad on the royals so i may be biased but the hysteria over the baby has been insane i think. Genuinely wish them well etc but i swear, i feel like the media obsession is a bit sinister! Though i do understand Sofia's love of Kate, she has the ultimate perfect hair!

expat ouch, the lip thing sounds painful, hope it gets sorted. Its a shame they don't just swell attractively, would be the cheap route to Jolie like lips......

Big hello to all, am feeling adrift because elder children are away for a fortnight with their dad and family...so weird just to have cassia here...i think having just one child is more work because its so intense! I've had to do everything with her including getting in her bath with her every night.... Plus dp has gone insane now that its just us in the evenings (my sister lived with us til last month) to the extent that he seriously wants us to hang out nude when he gets home later. As in just wandering round, its not even sexual....if he thinks i'm letting him eat dinner naked he's much mistaken. I value my dining chairs too highly for that sort of misuse!

Reastie · 25/07/2013 21:01

granny I know so many people who said walking did the trick for them. I could barely waddle at that point let alone go for a walk Blush

Well, I told DH about the money, he usefully suggested that would pay half of the carpenter cost to get the back door done. I told him it was frivolous money only for fun things and he actually gave an eye roll! I've decided I need some pretty kitchen tins to go in the new kitchen so am hunting for some beautiful ones ignoring cost and then whatever's left can go towards the carpenter. Best of both worlds Grin

expat Confused to the allergy.

ledkr have the meds kicked in? How is D?

Mizk I'm so glad (in the nicest way possible) you say just 1 is more intense. I'm really finding the summer hols exhausting having to play with Alice all the time. Today we have made dens, played happyland, done lots of flying angels ( Grin ), etc. The days are long! There are moments where I love it and want to cherish each second and other times when I just want to get the chores done without someone shouting at me to 'play house. NOW' I'm so sorry but I'm chuckling out loud at your DH. Just make sure you close the curtains first Wink

blizy · 25/07/2013 21:25

Mizk,i find I quite hard work when I have one mindee. It's much easier when nav 2 or more! They have company when I'm doing lunch, running to the loo etc.

Ledkr, I hope D is ok.

Reastie, spend It all on fun things!

I'm feeling rather shitty this week, very teary and down. I have just had a bit of a food binge, ate a freddo and 2 small dairy milk bars, I feel awful about it now. Best get to the gym in the morning! I'm really looking forward to dh coming home tomorrow night, I need a hug.

Reastie · 25/07/2013 21:41
ILovePonyo · 25/07/2013 21:54

(more hugs) blizy. Hope you're dh gets home to give you real life hugs soon. Want to talk a bt more about it? x x

reastie ha yes at "play. now" demands Hmm at least its not just in our house! Spend the money £150 will get you some nice treats, dooo it!

MizK I keep meaning to text you about meeting up one weekend in the summer hols, I think A and C would do well together in the cheeky stakes! Grin at your dp the naturist!

ledkr v bad timing. Hope you are all well soon and the 'stuff' from the docs works its magic.

American eeeek, agree with granny lanolin allergies are common, if there's a Lush anywhere near you they do a nice lanolin free lipbalm!

granny walking is a plan, feelng excited for you now :)

We are all ok, A has been a grumpy madam today tho, telling us she is 'naughty' then doing something naughty Hmm
I have had lots of work stress recently too which is doing my head in, but we are off on hols in a week, woo! Cant wait.

wigglesrock · 25/07/2013 22:23

blizy xxx hard week especially with dh being away. At the risk of going all country 'n' western - there's nothing as lonely as loneliness. I'll be floating about for a bit too, Mr W on nights.

You've had a blip with the chocolate - you're speaking to the queen of self sabotage Blush

Well americanexpat looks like pride does come before a fall Smile , Anna has been a feckin' nightmare all week! Lots of "shan't", "no", "you're naughty Mummy" Shock I mean naughty, I don't even use that word - bastarding Peppa Pig. Do you think they've been swapping notes ponyo? Grin

ledkr hope you feeling a bit better arse like a chewed orange time and that D is ok x

grannyapple hope tomorrow goes well if not tonight Wink xx

OP posts:
ILovePonyo · 25/07/2013 23:16

Hm yes maybe wigs Grin I am also being a bit pfb and blaming some of the more 'challenging' children at A's nursery, I've been told she's been joining in with them recently ShockWink they did tell me today however how good she was knowing different animals including rhino and hippopotamus, and said how cute she was saying "hippoppototamus" or similar. Tried to make her say it at home... No chance! Contrary thing Smile

Reastie · 26/07/2013 07:17

blizy how are you this morning? Don't feel bad about the chocolate, the thing that will make the difference is getting back on it today and not giving up.

Ponyo Alice does EXACTLY that (says 'I'm a naughty girl' and then does something naughty thinking it's hilarious) Hmm . FWIW Alice hays hippopotamus and it sounds really cute too Grin . Oh, and 'play house' for ALice isn't playing at home it's her term for playing the dreaded happyland.

We have an antique wood feature going into our kitchen today and I just dropped it and a bit of the corner fell off Blush . Opps.

Deliaskis · 26/07/2013 12:55

Errmmm......hello everyone [waves]. It's been a long time! Just read the last two pages to try and see how everyone is. I miiiiissssssed you all. Still in open plan office but not quite so overlooked now so here I am!

Quick C update, she's doing great, she's hilarious and fab and funny and impossible and everything all at the same time, so pretty much like all other 2yr olds I reckon.

SO errm.....potty training, terrified, yikes, not sure. HELP!

Dx

Reastie · 26/07/2013 14:35

Helllooooo Delia . Great to see you in these parts again Grin . Can't offer a smidgen of advice I'm afraid on potty training as tried it earlier this week and promptly gave up (with Alice obviously, not me, I'm proud to be fuly trained just about !).

Went shopping this morning and got a couple of bits for the dining room/kitchen including something like this . Erm, please tell me I haven't made a chavvy interior design faux pas?! I expect DH will hate it and I'll end out taking it back but I think it will look quite good with our strong blue/teal-y dining room walls.

blizy · 26/07/2013 16:39

Hi delia, had you are well and the Claudinator sounds fab!

Ledkr, I hope you got away on holiday today, if so have a fab time!

I'm feeling better today, went to gym this morning and have pent rest of the day chilling with the ipad and kindle. Dh won be home until tomorrow now though :(

Reastie, I'm afraid it's not to my taste, but if you like it go for it.

americanexpat · 26/07/2013 17:43

wiggles - how the mighty have fallen. Grin I remember saying a few weeks ago how lovely L was being. L hasn't been sleeping well since we moved, late to bed and up early, so we're all sleep-deprived and on the edge. He had a tantrum this morning because I wouldn't make him a ketchup sandwich. Hmm

Granny - hope the threat of the sweep has kicked things into action. x

Delia - hello hello. Grin Good luck with potty training, we tried earlier this month and scrapped it after a few days.

reastie - not my taste either but if you like it, don't worry what we think. It looks v modern and Pinterest has taught me that I hate modern. Grin

MizK - how did naked dinner go? Grin

Reastie · 26/07/2013 18:00

Yes yes to hard work behaviour. Alice has been insisting on chocolate milkshake for breakfast and this morning had 'lunch' for breakfast (cheese roll, crisps and fruit) Confused . Usually I'd be strong and refuse but with no kitchen and feeling uber cramped I've been a walk over. Hopefully a week to go and we'll have the house back though :)

That's interesting as I thought I had old lady traditional taste Hmm . DH has seen the deer (I've nicknamed him Rodney Grin ) and thinks he hates it so it may go back to the shop and tbh I'm not that bothered so couldn't have loved it that much.

blizy good work on the gym, sounds like a lovely chill filled day, hope tomorrow with DH reunion comes quickly for you. Are you quieter or busier than normal in the summer hols?

wigglesrock · 26/07/2013 19:36

americanexpat Anna at the minute would have a tantrum if I suggested eating soup with a fork was maybe not the smartest Hmm. I think I was especially worthy of disdain today as I wouldn't let her wander around Tescos carpark alone!

reastie for ages that was Anna's breakfast - cheese, apple, chicken, tomatoes Smile Until very recently she wouldn't really have bread/toast/rolls/cereals.

On the subject of Rodney - I think I love it Shock I wasn't sure, and I'm not sure I'd have him Smile but if I went to someone's house and it was on their wall, I'd be secretly envious. Although I see, it may now be a moo Wink point.

ledkr hope you got away today xx

deliaskis yay Grin , lovely to see you. Glad you and C are all well. I always found the idea of potty training scarier than the reality. I'm not properly training Anna for another few weeks. She is still using the potty for a wee before bath, but isn't as bothered during the day.

Reastie · 26/07/2013 21:16

I just noticed it's all quiet today on fb with grannyapple (although she may just not have posted anything today). Do you think things have happened? (no pressure to mn granny Wink )

wiggles I'm glad someone, ahem, appreciates my taste Grin . The kitchen is looking fabbo. Still a weeks work left to finish but looking like a semi kitchen now. You might be forced to look at fb pictures when we've decorated a bit more Wink

americanexpat · 26/07/2013 21:42

I noticed that earlier, reastie. Not that I've been stalking her, oh no.

L has an amazing love of ketchup. We were at a wedding a couple weeks ago and the waiter brought L a (literally) teacup-sized pot of ketchup for some chips. He was dipping the chips and sucking the ketchup off, twas ridiculous. We finally had to cut him off after half the pot. Hmm

reastie - I'm sure I've seen Rodney on Pinterest, posed in front of something delicious in a mason jar. I'm sure he'd look lovely decorated with some fairy lights at Christmas. Grin

Grannyapple · 27/07/2013 06:53

Ha ha....I'm still here...sweep was totally fine....but nothing happening yet...at this rate I'll be back for another in Monday...grr.

reastie I like Rodney-think it would look fab with the colour in your kitchen with the wall colour & as someone else said, fab with some fairy lights Smile.

Right...another walk planned this morning before rain kicks in this afternoon here....

ILovePonyo · 27/07/2013 08:44

Hello!

Reastie I like rodders too! You could decorate him at Xmas Wink

American I did Grin at the mason jar ref, I really want to do a lovely looking breakfast in one but I'd feel like a prat eating from it at work.

Granny hope the walk does what it needs to... Did you have a quick/slow/in between labour before, I can't remember Confused

A has been waking up crying and actually screaming last night every night for the last week, she says in te morning she had a bad dream about spiders Sad but it's taking ages to settle her.

We go on holiday next week! Me, dp, A, my mum, sis and bil are going to lanzarote. Can't wait Wine
