Oh good luck blizy, smear will be absolutely fine, uncomfortable but deffo bearable. The build up to it will prob be worse (sorry!) Amazing work with the weight loss and bmi, go you!

wiggles poor O :( Bless her, poor little trooper, hope the days til her pre op go quickly.

American Hope L stops the biting soon. A whacked me in the face once and my reaction was to whack her back, I didn't but I felt so close to doing it I was a bit shocked. Hope the move goes smoothly, I don't envy you one bit... Wink

I have a 'was dp being unreasonable' - A was tired at bedtime and has been a clingy mummys girl today, whinging for me to pick her up and crying when dp carried her upstairs for her bath bcos she wanted me etc. Anyway she cried throughout bath, lots of "I want mummy" whilst I was getting milk etc, dp says she is 'manipulating' us and trying toget her own way all the time, I think she was just tired and whingy. Prob a bit of both but I don't think a 2 yo can manipulate? Anyway opinions please :)

americanexpat · 11/07/2013 22:52

blizy - woop woop, well done! Don't worry about the smear, it'll be over in a flash. What part are you worried about most?

wiggles - poor O, hope she gets her op appointment very quickly.

Ponyo - I think toddlers can be a little manipulative but it's difficult to tell sometimes. L will hit me when he doesn't want to go to bed and say he needs a time-out because he thinks he'll get out of going to bed. I don't think they understand emotional manipulation though (at least L doesn't) - and their understanding of language is still so limited so it might just be she doesn't fully understand what she's saying.

Ledkr · 11/07/2013 22:55

Blush I feel bad now.
She was literally biting Ella breaking the skin and all the time. I only did it so she knew teeth hurt and it didn't even leave a slightest mark.
I didn't know what to do as she was doing all morning no matter where Ella went and then as soon as she got in.
I just thought it might work and it seemed to.
I would never advocate it though and it doesn't even make sense!
Just saw Ella's end if school show.
Felt sad that there were about ten main roles and the others were just left out including Ella.
Shame as this is the big event to mark them leaving.
They could have thought it out better.
Ella didn't seem to mind and has been chosen for the big panto at Xmas so that's nice.
Blizy that's a great result wow. Well done.
We are all shaping up now aren't we although I must admit to plateauing a bit now as its been such a busy stressful few weeks I'm not being as strict.
Going away next sun so not much point now.
We tend to get lots of excercise camping so should be ok .

Reastie · 12/07/2013 07:34

Sorry ledkr I really didn't mean to make you feel bad about that Blush , please don't. Poor Ella with the play but glad she doesn't seem too bothered by it and has got xmas show to look forward to.

ponyo I think toddlers can be manipulative for sure, but in the situ you give I would agree with you as tiredness makes everything bad and I just go with whatever when Alice is really moany and tired as she does alot of things she knows she' shouldn't when she's tired because she's tired and I don't think she purposefully does them to manipulate, I think it's just tiredness. Not sure if that's the right thing to do but it's what I do that really wasn't helpful was it . FWIW Alice also gets Mummyish sometimes like Anya does and DH can get a bit funny about it too, maybe it's something with their male pride or something Grin

Reastie · 12/07/2013 07:34

Btw can you tell I'm on school holidays - I feel like I'm posting all the time Blush . Off on holiday next week so you'll get a break from me then Wink

wigglesrock · 12/07/2013 07:43

reastie I'm the same Smile. Because I've no school runs, dancing lessons, craft shite etc I'm on MN much more!

ponyo I'm not sure they are manipulative Smile. Kids want what they want . I don't think they even grasp the delayed gratification thing until they have 7. I'm not saying that everything has to be stopped and done there and then but I don't think it's as easy as picking your battles or letting them win. I just don't think their brains are wired into that "oh yes I see your point, I'll just reconsider my point of view" way of thinking Smile. Of course I'm a bit well whatever, let's just muddle through way of parenting, Blush . I also own very stubborn children Hmm

Do you know what mine do that drive me mad? If I'm out for the day and Mr W has the girls - the minute I open the door - I get asked for food (even if they've just been fed), I get asked for plasters (for non existent cuts), books are thrust at me, and Olivia usually starts to cry re her throat. All this in the space of 5 mins, even if they have had books read, food prepared, cuts plastered, medicine dispensed all afternoon. It's very annoying but I suppose in a few years it'll be "oh where you out? I didn't notice!"

I just had a call from the dr surgery, my smear has been cancelled as the nurse has went home sick. I have another week to wait now and my AF might be here next week too! Typical!Hmm

Ledkr · 12/07/2013 16:29

I'm so jel of you on hols already.
I'm so tired, have only the van to drive, still working and Ella has the most amazing timetable of leavers stuff as well as her dance and an exam. She's so tired she weeps if you even look at her the wrong way.
Today it's late start at school, dills to nursery, meeting at secondary school, drop car at garage the rush to get bus home to get dills. And there was me thinking I might be able to fit in some shopping for holiday clothes.
Then Ella has her show again tonight.
We break up next fri and our ferry leaves Sunday morning.
I think you will all get blown away by the collective sigh of relief we breath as we drive inboard.
I'm even excited about five hrs on a ferry with nothing more to do than look in the shops, watch a movie and chase dills around Hmm will be the longest time for ages with no demands.

americanexpat · 12/07/2013 19:15

ledkr - don't feel bad about the biting, we've all done less than ideal things as parents, it's just that you confessed to it. Grin If you're driving the camper van, can you park and have a wee nap? Grin

blizy - that's rubbish, another week of anticipation.

reastie - enjoy your holiday. I meant to say that pseudoephedrine is the gold standard of decongestants (for me anyway) but it's often used to make methamphetamine so it's very tightly controlled. I had to show photo ID and sign a statement saying it was for personal use before they'd give it to me. Hmm I looked pretty rough though and had no voice left so they didn't argue. Grin

wiggles - I inadvertently used "fecking" when speaking with my boss last week, I think he thought it was the other f word. Blush You're a bad influence. Grin

Reastie · 12/07/2013 19:21

american Grin to inadvertent swearing. I went to a chemist last year to stock up on cold remedies - I need to have liquid as I can't swallow tablets and DH has tablets and I needed non drowsy and the hard stuff that makes you drowsy to get us both through work and the night. I told the chemist I needed 4 different lots of cold remedy things and he gave me this look Hmm and refused me on the basis he wasn't allowed to sell that much should I be using it to make drugs Grin . I'd forgotten that.

ldkr yes have a nap in the van, it's got to have it's uses for you Grin . Seriously though, bet you feel like your holiday can't come quick enough and hope you survive the manic week ahead

Blizy how annoying re: postponement of smear, another week to look forward to it Hmm

Ledkr · 12/07/2013 20:20

Thanks guys.
I don't feel guilty really, just surprised and a bit puzzled that it worked. She still hasn't bitten!
So funny tonight she was watching mr tumble and shouted 1 3 9 "mr tumble!" Not going to be a gifted child then ha ha

wigglesrock · 12/07/2013 20:29

ledkr Anna counts "1 2 4 5 8" Smile I'm kidding myself it's actually a well thought out code to the Pentagon Wink

wiggs spooky take along those lines.
Last year we were at my brothers in France and had not yet booked our campsite.
Delilah kept saying "amio" at the top of her voice and we though she was trying to say Andrew. My brothers name.
A week later we were looking for a site and found one we liked. It was called "amieaux" pronounced "amio"
Weird or what.

ILovePonyo · 12/07/2013 23:03

Ooh that's weird ledkr (I like it Grin) your week sounds knackering. You truly deserve a relax and I hope you get it on your hol!

The first thing A said to me this morning (when she appeared at my bedside at an early hour) was "we have crumble and ice cream at nursery" GrinHmm

Thanks for comments about toddlers manipulating things, think dp had a re think plus A was in a better mood today, much cheerier which was lovely.

MizK · 13/07/2013 21:54

Hey everyone, yet another of my lame attempts to catch up on the thread. No excuse since i am home full time til late september, just read everything on my phone but don't post!
V impressed with the shrinking ladies of the thread, must be an amazing feeling when you decide to change your body and actually accomplish it!
I,ll post properly next time cos theres so much i,ve missed that its intimidating to remember it, however reading your stories does reassure me that i am not the only one with a miniature diva for a child!
Also impressed at the big beds/potty training etc going on. Cassia is firmly attached to her dummies, still in a cot and flatly refuses to wear knickers or wee in the potty. Thought that i'd be an expert child wrangler by child number 3 and yet i am still a know-nothing eejit.
Big children are making me feel really proud at the min though, doing really well at school and generally being ace. DD1 in particular has reached the age where she is just great company mostly. I sneaked her into a 15 rated film with my friends and i the other night and she was feeling extremely cool and grown up, so cute (it was the Bling Ring so nothing too harrowing or explicit honest! )
Big hellos and love to everybody and all the children too, will post more and actually take part in the thread!

americanexpat · 15/07/2013 18:51

MizK - it's a relief that you're still muddling through on child number 3. Grin L is still in a cot too and I'm not eager to move him. I think you're on FB and friends with the others? If you get a friend request from a woman holding a baby, that's me. Grin

Ponyo - Grin at A with crumble and ice cream.

Removals men have been and gone, DH is reassembling the furniture while I'm skiving at work. Grin I took the cats over this morning, poor dears are locked in the basement and terrified. One of the cats meows very loudly when she's upset; she was in the back next to L, so she'd cry then L would shout in response, repeat until I lost my mind. Thankfully it's only a 15 minute drive.

wigglesrock · 17/07/2013 19:31

Feeling hot, hot! Smile and other annoying songs that the kids have decided to sing constantly.

Have had a lovely few days basking in the sun - Mr W not so much Shock We are now getting to the point where he is refusing to answer any phone calls incase he's asked to come in early/ not go home, sell his soul Smile

MizK it must be lovely the older two are doing so well at school. Smile at you sneaking into the cinema, I remember sneaking in to see Top Gun when I was too young. Realise now how old that makes me!

ledkr hope you are managing your mad dash at the end of term and are looking forward to your well deserved holiday!

blizy how's the gym bunny? Smile

grannyapple how are you doing?

OP posts:
Ledkr · 17/07/2013 22:23

Tell me about it wiggs.
I had to work tonight so arranged for a mate to have girls till dh finished AT 8.
So why am I fucking sat her with a puking dilly who I had to collect at 9 having left my poor colleague to do the group we were running!
Still no word and I'm not happy.
I earn the same as him but its always my job that suffers!!
We stil have a long way to go ladies.

Grannyapple · 18/07/2013 08:06

Hi ladies....still hanging here...due date tomorrow. Sis is down helping out..have 3rd reflexology session booked later so hoping that'll kick things off Grin. Not liking this heat in my current state tho, has to be said.

Chickenpox is rife at nursery at the mo so have kept N off today til Monday just to try to avoid the incubation period a bit (tho I fear if may be too late..Hmm. Cannot imagine having a newborn with chickenpox

Oh ledkr know how you feel re:jobs & sacrifices...always seems to be same with me ...

Reastie · 18/07/2013 08:25

Gosh ledkr Sad - what time did he get home? I hope he realises what happened

granny who will pop first - you or kate middleton?! Can you imagine the pressure to choose the name of the future king or queen?! Hope it all happens soon for you and can't wait to see piccies of a scrummy newborn. Hope you have escaped the pox.

americanexpat · 18/07/2013 17:39

Granny - ooo, any day now! I can't imagine being pregnant in the summer, I was rather relieved that L was due in the winter. Grin Fingers crossed for no pox and a baby in your arms soon.

Tbh, I'm a bit Envy of the summer you're having, 5 years of crap summers and now a scorcher. Sad We're having a heat wave here as well, it was 35C yesterday and it's already 31C now (not yet midday). The tomatoes in my vegetable garden are loving the heat but I'm v thankful for central air con and ceiling fans.

americanexpat · 18/07/2013 17:39

reastie - are you still on holiday?

Reastie · 18/07/2013 18:28

what do you mean 'still' American - we only went on holiday on Saturday Grin . Yes, we're still on hols but back tomorrow Sad . It's gone far too quickly and will be going back to a house with no kitchen still

americanexpat · 18/07/2013 19:14

I meant "do you continue to be on holiday" and not "jeez, are you STILL on holiday? Get back to your kitchen-less house." Grin
