reastie - Shock 6 stone! Well done!

ledkr - how was the pre-op?

We gave up on toilet training yesterday afternoon. He did ok the first day, was asking to use the toilet when he needed to but had a few accidents. My mum made a last minute decision to come for a visit this weekend and he lost interest in using the toilet after that. He refused to sit on the toilet at all and it was accident after accident. I think he's not feeling well either, seems to be tired and v emotional. So we're leaving it another month or two until we're settled in the new house.

Ledkr · 08/07/2013 08:17

american d is really weird re potty training. She's dry but needs a nappy to pooh in but also if she wears a nappy or pull up its just soaked through! She also sometimes refuses pants for no reason and just screams for a nappy!
Tbf I just can't be arsed to argue and just go with the flow.
We have literally never had wet pants but lots if sopping nappies

Ledkr · 08/07/2013 08:18

Oh and pre op all ok I'm just waiting for a date which should be sometime soon after our holiday.

americanexpat · 08/07/2013 19:19

I think he wasn't interested in leaving what he was doing to use the toilet. I even tried bribery Blush but he didn't want to sit on the toilet after the first day. And he really wasn't bothered with having wet pants. I was getting very frustrated with his so decided it was best to pack it in for a while, not worth the aggravation.

wigglesrock · 08/07/2013 19:52

americanexpat Exactly same thing happened with Sofia, I left it for 6 weeks or so and it was so much easier. She just had absolutely no interest in it after the first wee so it was silly to keep trying. Anna actively doesn't want to do it, so I might try towards the end of the summer. It has suddenly occurred to me that Anna is just 2 months younger than Olivia was when I found out I was pregnant with Anna - if that makes any sense Shock .

Gorgeous gorgeous weather here, off to Bangor, our Bangor Grin again tomorrow.

ledkr how was camping?

reastie hope your temporary kitchen isn't proving too maddening!

Oh you know wiggs up and down up and down!
One minute your on a high when your having a nice glass of wine and a sneaky cig then next the kids are wrestling over a scooter and screaming blue murder and the stress levels shoot up and you're never going again!
Bit like life really!
Just been to open air pool and d is officially swimming without armbands!
I'm not bothered about potty training tbh.
I've been selected for free easy up pants trial on mn but I don't hold out much hope!

ILovePonyo · 09/07/2013 20:32

Reastie you have been mentioned on the 'mn-ers I'd like to meet thread!'

Thanks for reassurances about solitary children, I need to stop worrying about it, A is happy and that's the main thing!

Reastie · 09/07/2013 21:01

Really? . Wonder why they'd like to meet me Blush probably the bargain thread and they think I've got a house from the £1 shop , I'd be a bitter disappointment whatever Grin

Alice not sleeping tonight and I am tres hormonal with PMT, everything with the works on the kitchen getting on top of me Confused . Fingers crossed for a better day tomorrow.

Ledkr go dilly with the swimming, that's amazing. Envy of the product trial of pants btw, I signed up for that one too but didn't get picked.

ILovePonyo · 09/07/2013 21:33

I think it was Xmas bargain thread? And you wouldn't be a disappointment, don't say that, I'd like to meet you too! Grin

Ledkr I can't believe that about dilly swimming, go dils! A always looks disgusted when she gets splashed in the face and prefers to be bobbed about by me or dp HmmSmile

She just fell asleep on her bean bag after getting out of bed and playing for 2 hours, aww.

Reastie hope A settles soon. I saw the pics of your kitchen, you're brave! Sure it'll be lovely when it's done.

Ledkr · 09/07/2013 22:26

We dropped Ella off tonight at a guide cookout and it was near a big posh stately house/hotel so we went there for a nose. Scraped enough to afford two cokes and went into the most amazing garden. It was like something out if a novel.
Big lake amazing plants and shrubs, massive bean bags all over the lawn and lots of hammocks too.
There was a giant connect four and jenga for dills and a huge box of toys and books.
Google it its called cowley manner
D loved it and was exploring the garden while me and dh took the piss (quietly) out if all the posh people.
I think we found a new hang out!

ILovePonyo · 09/07/2013 22:48

Ha ledkr I've just found it, looks well nice! Bean bags on a lawn sounds very indulgent, nice to hear they have children's things too.
We have found that if we go somewhere for food (for example) we're much better off going somewhere with an outside so A can just roam around on the grass abit, much less stressful than trying to make her sit at a table for ages. Theres a nice pub nearby we go to which isn't the cheapest but it has a garden and does nice food so we have there a few times recently!

blizy · 11/07/2013 13:09

Hi all, I'm really crap at keeping up with the thread just now, Between work, loving the sun, decorating the house and gym. No news from me, all been quiet in the blizy houseold.
I have only managed to lose 10lbs so far, I don't know how, as I've been really strict with food and going to the gym every other day.

I'm having a quiet day which is bliss, bank holiday weekend here so off work fri and mon, but will be spent decorating and and more cleaning.

Ledkr iam so jealous of the outdoor pool, we don't have anything like that near us.

Reastie, I hope you are surviving without a kitchen.

Wiggs, I love the photos, Bangor is my fav place in NI!

Reastie · 11/07/2013 13:22

blizy 10 lbs is amazing, well done. How long are you spending in the gym and are you doing cardio or weights? My gym initially got me to do pretty much all cardio to get my start on weight loss as they said that was the best way to start and they always told me it's better to work shorter but really go for it than hours of not really trying too hard.

ledkr that place looks amazing.

Still no kitchen (obviously!). Have been having to wait in most of this week for various deliveries/tradespeople which has meant barely any chance to go out in the sun and Alice going a bit insane from being stuck inside with me. Just got her for a nap by walking her in the buggy up and down our street about 30 times (possibly more) as needed to lookout for alarm man coming any time this afternoon so as not to miss him. Finally got her to sleep and workmen making alot of drilling noise so she'll probably wake up in a minute Confused . Oh the joys! It's be amazing when it's finished though I hope :)

Hope everyone is well.

blizy · 11/07/2013 15:46

Reastie, I'm doing about 30 mins of cardio but going at it hard, then another 30 mins resistance to work on toning. I hope Alice had a good nap.

americanexpat · 11/07/2013 16:28

blizy - 10 lbs is great, it really is. It takes a long time to lose weight healthily (not Biggest Loser style). How much do you need to lose to get your BMI down?

reastie - when's your kitchen slated to be finished? I saw your thread on Property/DIY and knew it was yours before I opened it. Grin

The removals men are finally booked for Monday - apparently this is a very popular time of year to move. Hmm DH had to keep chasing them up for quotes and was tempted to hire a van and a couple students for a few hours. I'm nearly finished with my DIY on the bathrooms, just have to paint the 2nd one and do some touch-ups (and a lot of cleaning).

L has been acting out at nursery lately and hitting - I think he's feeling the stress of the move. Last time we moved he was biting a lot (can't remember if I mentioned it while it was happening) so hopefully we don't have a repeat of that. We're trying to slowly get him used to the house, we've been spending a lot of time there, he has a paddling pool in the back garden, he says he's excited to live there, so hopefully this all blows over in a week or so. We had been a bit lax with his bedtime too and he was tired so I'm being very strict with it now.

Reastie · 11/07/2013 16:58

american possibly 3 weeks after this week assuming no big set backs Shock . Luckily (I think....) we are on holiday next week so will be away from the mess and have a kitchen and not have to use a outdoor tap everytime we want to get a drink etc. I know you understand having just moved! FWIW ALice has been a shocker this week and I've put it down to the upheaval with the kitchen, I remember you saying before he was biting. Hopefully he'll settle down soon.

Blizy an hour every other day? Bet you feel so much fitter and better in yourself?

Ledkr · 11/07/2013 17:27

I never thought I'd say this but d kept biting Ella all the time on her leg her arm her face etc. one day I did the much debated "bite her back" not hard but just so she knew.
She has not bitten again.
I still don't necessarily agree with it but it seemed to have worked Blush

Reastie · 11/07/2013 18:30

ledkr that was MILs advice gem to DH a while ago. I'm v glad it's worked on Dilly but I'm still Hmm about it. Funny the things you end out doing even though you don't think you'd agree with it to in the hope it will work in desperation isn't it - I find it Grin you did that in your job!

americanexpat · 11/07/2013 19:19

I've been tempted to hit/bite back (reflex reaction) but then my reasonable adult self returns. Grin

reastie - we haven't actually moved yet. Shock I delegated booking the removal to DH and it took bloody ages. Hmm We have our flat until the end of the month so will still have a couple weeks if it takes us ages to clean it. I'm very much looking forward to having it done and dusted soon.

I'm limping through this week with sinusitis. I sent DH out for a neti pot Monday evening - helped a bit but very very strange. Am now drugged up on pseudoephedrine - I nearly had to give the pharmacist a DNA sample to get it. Hmm

Reastie · 11/07/2013 19:26

Ah american that makes much more sense from your other post about moving the removal truck - I wondered why you needed one when you'd already moved Blush . How is the decorating going? Hope you feel better soon. Never heard of that drug but a DNA sample to get it?!!!! Shock

wigglesrock · 11/07/2013 19:34

blizy that's bloody brilliant Thanks I've lost about 10lb recently and I feel a real difference. Just hoping I keep it up phnar phnar

americanexpat Anna went through a biting stage, it's still hanging around. If she's upset or really frustrated she tends to lead with her mouth Hmm

Have had some lovely days out in the fab weather lately. Mr W is now away to work until Monday. Mama needs a new pair of shoes Wink so am dvding it for the next few nights. Have the Impossible for tonight.

Olivia is ill again, but her preop appointment is in 10 days so we're just holding on until then. GP has amped up her antibiotics, there's nothing more we can do for the pain Sad , so just trying to alleviate the swelling at the minute. Anyway there's an end in sight so I'm refusing to rant or cry any more about it Blush

blizy Grin at Bangor being one of your favourite places, tis where the posh people go, dontcha know Smile

blizy · 11/07/2013 19:44

Wiggles, poor Olivia, I really feel for her, wee soul.

I just don a BMI calculator thingy and I'm now down to 33 ! Only 2 more points until my app on the 9th, I think I'm going to do this . Dh had his semen analysis app on tues, will find out results when we both go on the 9th. I have a smear tomorrow.please don't shout at me, but it's my first one and I'm stupidly scared!

wigglesrock · 11/07/2013 19:52

blizy oh yes sweetheart you are going to do it Grin How very dare you not! Strangely I'm going for a smear in a few weeks. I will not shout, I've had 2 or 3 but have been dodging my GPs letters for about a month Blush . Apparently the instruments (bleurgh) they now use are much more comfortable?Hmm , so it's not as uncomfortable Hmm . Tbh mine have always been alright, it's just the thought of it!

OP posts:
Reastie · 11/07/2013 21:06

Crikey moses that's fabulous work blizy. Smear will be fine, honestly, once it's over you'll worry what you were so worked up about (I realise this won't help though as I was so anxious before my first one). Wiggles is right - the thought of it is worse than the actual test.

Reastie · 11/07/2013 21:07

Sorry wiggles, was so blown over by Blizys amazing new BMI I fogot to say poor Olivia. At least you know the end is in sight and thank goodness they have finally seen sense to get her the op after so long.
