GG - Shock at dp - 645 ffs - I couldn't last this long anyway! I know he's had problems and issues after his accident, but he is an adult for goodness sake, NOT a child. You don't need the extra stress and worry. I know you don't want to finish with him, but he needs a rude awakening - many others would not have stuck it this far.
Anyway, feel free to rant when you need, I promise I will make no more (un)helpful suggestions! I will just listen.
Well, THomas the little monkey, woke up at 2am! So, I took the line of, well, you can sleep through for Daddy, so you obviously do not need feeding in the night. Therefore, you can just have a drink of water - so that is what he got, a nappy change and some water! He just looked at me as if to say, what on earth is this you are giving me? Where's the milk?! He had some water, then pulled his head away looked around as if to say, perhaps I'll try again, it might be milk now! Anyway, eventually he went back to sleep and woke up again at 6.30am!
Not sure I have quite worked out what our new routine will be, what with 3 meals a day. Am taking the AK routine of Milk (bottle of) with breakfast, then offer bottle mid morning as snack, cooked lunch (with water to drink), bottle mid afternoon for snack, then cooked tea with water to drink, then bottle just before bed. Does this sound reasonable?
Well, it is another grey day here - but it isn't raining yet! but think it is only a matter of time!
Hope all those on hols - Nova, Rodeo, are having fun and better weather than we are!!

Brownie & Thomas

GarfieldsGirl · 27/05/2006 11:58

Cheers Brownie, yes your 'meal timetable' sounds spot on to me!
I do completely agree re times of dp coming home. He's 32 fgs, when will he learn that its just not reasonable to do that? He says how shocked he is that one of his mates went out one nye and got home Jan 3rd!!!!, but in my eyes this is no different, ok he's not gone awol for 3 days, but after I get up is bloody ridiculous.

His mates don't help. One goes out drinking every lunchtime and wants dp t go with him, he is sensible enough to say no mostly, he knows that would be it otherwise. I don't expect his mates to act with any common snse. I had a similar problem when he shouldn't have been smoking. He had probs with his lungs, and he did give up for a yr, then started again, although hid it from me for a further yr, thought i was stupid enough to believe he wasn't smoking, I mean give me some credit! But then this time round drs told him the stats of amputation with his kind of injury with smoking and it was frightening, he would stop, then e'd see his mates and they' be so unsupportive and encourafe him to smoke, and he's just got no willpower, he cannot say no to them. MIL doesn't help either, on smoking or drinking front. Shes hidden the fact she doesn' smoke from FIL for past 20 years, she truly believes he doesn't know, so i guess thats where dp gets it from. Also with her drinking is what everyone has to do, she doesn't think its normal to not have a drink. She, herself rarely drinks, but encourages every one else to.
I'm paintign a really rosy picture here of my dp adn his family!!!! When he's not drinking/smoking etc he's a fantaastic bloke, and he has a fantastic family, I love them all, but I just really want him to go back to work now, and things to get back to some sort of normality, hopefully things will work themselves out then. I'm really hoping that after my talking to him this morning has made him realise how much its hurting me and tearing me apart, but tbh i'm not holding out much hope. It'll be ok for a week, then it'll be back to thsi again, esp if he doesn't get the news he wants from his consultant on weds. Anyway enough from me again!! Gonna go put some washing out now its finally washed after i forgot to turn machine on this morning.

GarfieldsGirl · 27/05/2006 13:35

bob - just seen your new pics of Oskar - he so cute!!

novadandypowder · 27/05/2006 18:41

righto, only been scanning as busy trying to get everything sorted for hols..

Diege - boo to the pox, but hoorah for the socks!

GG - I've posted on your other thread, I hope we can offer you the support you need, and feel free to rant on here any time.

Bear - Do you have facilities to cook where you are going? If not have you tried C on finger foods yet? Always good just to chop up a bit of chees/fruit/sandwich and give that. Also Organix fruit pots are great.

Someone said something about milk? It's v. important they get enough during the day can you give a little as a snack between meals? Or make sure LO has cheese and yoghurt with meals.

Well I'm all waxed, scrubbed, fake tanned and pedicured all I need now is the beach! May not be able to post tomorrow, so have a good weekend and see you in a couple of weeks.

mucho love novaxx

tessasmum · 27/05/2006 20:27

Have a wonderful time Nova, we'll all be with you in spirit even if we can't all fit in the suitcase Smile

SharonTW · 28/05/2006 00:31

Hi Ladies not been on for a while , life's been pretty busy - sure you know what I mean !
Lots of new names Hi everyone ! Sam is 27 weeks on Tues and 25 lbs still waking once a night but a happy fun baby .
Hope you're all well and happy will stay in touch x x x

Diege · 28/05/2006 09:22

Hi everyone!! Nice to hear from you Sharon - yes, know what you mean about busy!!Can you remember the days when you could have a lie-in with the papers?? [wistful emotion!!]GG: sounds a nightmare. Agree with BROWNIE, ok so he has been through a tough time, but there comes a point when we have to take responsibility for our own actions, even if it's just to admit there'a a problem and get help. Maybe you could do a 'deal' and suggest he has to get counselling?? Though of course, first he has to admit it to himself. thb, I wouldn't have stuck it out at Blush; probably would have tried pre-kids, but not with. So all credit to you, and give yourself a big pat on the back and then get some serious talking underway!!We're all with you in spirit!!
NOVA: Ooh v. jealous...you will have the best time, and make sure you save up all your stories so we can dream...
Well, my news. It never rains but it pours...Jasmine now has the pox!!! Unbelievable as it's been 16 days since she was first 'exposed', so all hands to the deck here!! WE're both really worried about work etc next week, which in the scheme of things isn't important at all, but we've already wangled excuses for when Scarlett had it. May have to take J in with me one day!! Libby should hopefully scab over by mid/end of next week Smile.
Well, more positively had a lovely birthday yesterday; had good shopping spree courtesy of DH, a lovely meal out with friends, and my highlights worked this time!!! Grin. Oh and the socks are the bees...look esp cute when she's bouncing on frame bouncer, like a proper ballerina!!
Speak later when I get the chance!!

GarfieldsGirl · 28/05/2006 15:09

Diege - sorry, forgot to say Happy Birthday yesterday Blush, sounds like you had a good day. Aren't work supposed to give you time off as and when needed (within reason) if you have chilren under 5? I remember something about it at college, but haven't worked properly myself since having LOs so no experience, although I know Tesco were pretty good, I've probably understood it wrong, and I'm sure you know about it anyway, but just a thought for you and DH. Hope the girls aren't affected too badly by it Smile big hugs and kisses to them.
Nova - thanks xx Have a great time!

I've been out shopping today - spent about £100 in Republic, just chucked loads of stuff on buggy, then realised when I got home I hadn't checked sizes I was sooo excited Blush, so have to go back on Tues to cange them, there was loads of other stuff in there too that I wanted, so I may just have to spend another £100! I think I deserve it Wink DP asked me earlier what time I was going to get home from seeing Jason Donovan tonight...Ooooh, I don't know, I may just stay out for breakfast! Cheeky bastard! Should be a good night tonight, so sad I know, but completes the set cos I saw Kylie last year.

And Thank You very much everybody for letting me let off steam here, its good to know you're all there. Smile

novadandypowder · 28/05/2006 17:27

Just a quick one to say Happy Birthday to Diege for yesterday Grin [need an emoticon with a party hat!]

I didn't even realise Jason was still touring GG. I'm soooooo excited about Take That in 4 weeks time.

Hope the girls are feeling better?
Nova, have a fabbo holiday!
Twinkle - still broody then hey!!Wink
GG - go girl, you deserve it!! Grin Enjoy tonight, and go home when you feel like it (petty I know, but sometimes it is justified, and now is one of those times imo!)
Thomas had beef today - he loved it! He had the same as we did for dinner (minus yorkshires and roasties) with a bit of salt-free veg stock (that is another story!), all pureed up - he liked it!!
Spent the day at my parents and fil and smil (step-mil) came over to see T for the day (DH was at Silverstonew atching the World SuperBikes).
Had got him home, fed and bottle of milk and asleep in bed before dh came home! What a good Mummy! Smile

Well, off to scoff some more of my last remaining Easter egg & watch the CSI I videoed on Tuesday.

Ooh - Prison Break Fans - There is a double bill tomorrow and next Monday - Building up for the season Finale!! Can't wait!

twinkle1 · 28/05/2006 20:34

Diege sorry hun HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)
Question has anyone used baby gender selection?? its the thing on the net u subscribe too??? if so has it worked???
twinkle

Diege · 29/05/2006 09:07

Morning everyone Smile. Thanks for all your birthday wishes Smile. Still nursing the sick here, not helped by DH also throwing a sickie yesterday too, and spending most of the day in bed!! Not cross, though a self-induced one iyswim!!!
BROWNIE: can't believe you have Easter eggs left Grin, though not any more by the sounds of things!! btw, did you make stock yourself?? I have been trying to find a salt-free one, with no luck, though remember them doing a baby gravy thing when dd1 was a bean. I'm introducing meat/chicken in the next few days, though with her pox she's not that hungry at the mo and prefers milk. I used a lot of jars with dds, but actually find it easier and more convenient to make up batches of stuff, which has really surprised me!! I sort of cheat though, buying little pots of the carrot purree, which I mix into my own concoctions!! (Can't stand making carrot purree!!)
TWINKLE: sounds like you ttc plan is taking shape!! Havn't heard about online gender selection thing, though we did try the timing thing (ie. in relation to ovulation days) last time. Gave up after a few months though, and I started panicking that it was never going to happen anyway, so would be happy with either sex Grin. Happy with 3 dds though Smile. Are you after another girl??
Well, another cup of coffee's needed!!!

GarfieldsGirl · 29/05/2006 12:54

Diege - I used that baby gravy for Owen, but then SIL told me they have almost as much salt in them as normal bisto or whatever. May have changed now tho, have you tried Boots?

browniechick · 29/05/2006 18:25

Hi All, Diege - Managed to find a jar of Veg Stock, in paste format, with NO SALT at all, so am using very small amounts of that mixed in water, just to add some flavour.
GG - Boots have stopped selling Baby Gravy, went in and enquired whilst on my Salt-free stock hunt!! The closet I could find was low salt, which has still got loads, then went into one of the health food shops in Stratford, and they had this jar of VegPaste stuff. made form soya and stuff, no salt (have checked ingredients).
Couldn't be faffed to make own stock - far too fiddly for my liking!
Don't bother pureeing stuff seperately either Diege, I just steam / cook all ingredients, chuck in a bowl and blend all together with hand blender, then portion out into pots and freeze. Freezer is now jam-packed full of stuff! MAde AKs first chicken casserole today! He liked that, had some for his tea! Then had half a farleys rusk for pud, followed by 3ozs milk before going to bed (which is where he is now, fast asleep!). Need to find an alternative for breakfast, as the weetabix is not going down well - not sure he likes it. Would a petit filous do? Or is that not a good breakfast meal? (He has a 6oz bottle too).

Hope all are well, and that your poorly dds are on the road to recovery Diege. No sympathy for your dh though - shouldn't it be you in bed with a sore head, afterall it was your birthday wasn't it?! Or have I missed the point and was he out for somethign else? Oh its so hard to keep up with everyone's goings on!?

JenJam · 29/05/2006 21:02

hi ladies. I haven't even started to read through all that i've missed. i need a spare day it's been so long since i've been on. got as far as discovering londoner has disappeared. very sad to hear this!

what have I been up to? I spent the last month enjoying the sunny days, visiting nurseries and interviewing for a nanny. finally got childcare sorted, and now off to britanny with my inlaws for a 2.5 week holiday - should be bliss but i'm actually dreading it a bit as I'm not sure I can cope without his dad who does most of the shhushing during the night. he is a huge help!

so, I just wanted to pop on here to say hello, wondered how you and your bubs are all getting along (and will find out after i read up properly, which I will do after i finish typing this post).

F is gorgeous. he's a slithery snake of a baby. he won't sit in the rubber ring nest thing anymore as he arches his back and slides out of it backwards, head first! bought a play pen on tuesday only to see his sad little tearfilled eyes looking up at me, took it back to argos yesterday. how are you all coping with your increasingly mobile baby? anyone got one of those stationary (sp?) walker things? is it worth splashing £80 out on or once they really start moving are they going to be totally uninterested?

right must go if I want to read through anything and then I have to start the packing!

ChaCha · 30/05/2006 12:43

JenJam - Wondered where you'd got to, great to see you back :) Have a great holiday. Poor little F in playpen, can just imagine it..awww!

Diege - How did i miss that?! Had no idea it was your birthday. Belated birthday wishes. How are all your patients today? Still playing Florence Nightingale? Poor Diege.

Brownie - I'm just starting week 3 of the AK meal planner. Still basic purees. Can't wait for him to try chicken etc. Sounds great.

I asked this before so sorry to repeat but need advice, what type of cup/beaker should he be using now. He is still on bottles but holding them like a cup - obviously telling me something there and we start water next week. The little boots cup I got is no good, he uses it as teething device and has no handles, he doesn't like it. Help pls?

GG - Hope everything is going well.

As for me, busy bee, DH travelling soon, Dad arriving and in the process of starting up my home-based business. Just awaiting my start-up business pack now as I've tried to walk before I can crawl. Didn't realise there was so much involved!! Eeeeek.

LO is doing well, lots of fun, screams all the time, wriggles everywhere, favourite sounds he makes are 'Dah Dah, mmmm' and blowing rasperries, usually just as the spoon goes into this mouth!

Hope everyone is doing well. Rodeo - Hope you've had a great trip. Catch up later xx

Diege · 30/05/2006 13:39

Hi everyone Smile. Nice to hear from you JENJAM Smile. Sure you will have a great holiday. Sounds like you have been really busy; did you get childcare sorted out? The playpen concept never worked for us either, though the baby walker was good (from memory), and you can get quite cheap ones if you shop around. CHACHA: you sound busy too!!Bet it's exciting setting your business up, though lots of hard work by the sounds of it. Re: cups I was obsessed with finding the right one for dd1, and must have had every brand at one point. In the end, went for a Heinz one with soft spout, but this time have been less obsessed and just got a tomy tippee one. She doesn't really take much from it, and hasn't got the hang of it, but they do and it's worth practicing Smile. The cup that never worked for any of dds was the 'anyway up' cup - yep it doesn;t spill, but have you tried getting anything out of it?? Grin.
Well, patients are ok-ish. Scarlett at nursery, Jasmine at work with DH, Libby being looked after by SIL Smile. DH still feeling poorly, but in that non-descript, irritating way that it's hard to be sympathetic to after a while Blush. Nice to have a break from it all actually at work Grin.
Well, desperately trying to be 'good' this week re: food after some serious indulgences over weekend - anyone tried those new aero truffle bars??? Mmmmmmm....

ChaCha · 30/05/2006 14:01

Thanks Diege, will put it on my list of things to browse.

I have not let chocolate, crisps or fizzy drinks pass my lips for a whole week now! Not even a measely mini swiss roll that friend brought over. I have been soooo good. I am on two meals a day and allow myself chips once a week - killer!! I compensate the chocolate and stuff with a sweet cup of tea in the afternoon or late evening. I will lose weight :o

I really did intend to come online to sort out office supplies but my fingers seem to have typed out those words...mumsnet!!
x

Diege · 30/05/2006 14:27

oooh very giod CHACHA Smile. Don't want to go all preachy on you, but am I detecting you are missing out breakfasts here??? IMO (and ignore if you wish), this is NOT a good idea, and sets up starve-binge cycle(ok, so I'm not one to talk Blush).
Right, must get work done!!!!

babyonboard · 30/05/2006 15:01

afternoon ladies!

our new compuer is so great, it seems a real luxury that it isn't crashing every half hour..lol

O has suddenly become a champion crawler..it just clicked on saturday and now he's zooming all over the place..earlier he managed to climb up and over the huge stack of cushions i'd surrounded him with lol..

chacha - we use the avent magic cups..but i have taken the valve out..sounds similar to those anyway up cups Diege..even i had trouble sucking the water out lol..

i know it's naughty anyway but 'skinny cow' ice cream is just fab!

and sainsburys stock salt free organic stock in the chiller sections..

right ..i'll try and catch up with all the news now..lol

BEKsmum · 30/05/2006 16:34

Afternoon girls

Welcome back Jenjam, you've been missed, have a great holiday

BOB wow well done O for crawling, now you really will need eyes in the back of your head - enjoy Grin. Thanks for the e-mail by the way, probably will be best to meet up town for Chacha's sake, Any Victoria suggestions girls and who else is up for it?

Diege very belated happy b'day, hope you had a good one, sorry to hear the girls are poorly, but at least they've all had it now.

Chacha haven't mentioned the 20th to Londoner yet, will go and do this now.

Right, got to go - Tom's screaming, BEKs

GarfieldsGirl · 30/05/2006 20:55

Well done Oskar! A spare set of eyes for you bob?! Wink
ChaCha - The best cup i've found is a tommee tippee one, I thought it was the anyway up cup, but maybe not after Diege's post. Tried the Avent Magic, and threw it away cos like bob, couldn't get anything out of it myself, didn't think of taking th valve out Blush.
JenJam - I wouldn't spend that much on a walker myself, the one we have was Owen's and was about £30 in Mothercare, has lots o bits on tray to play with. I find it a necessary purchase for doing washing up etc. Washing baskets are also very good for this!
Nova - TT!! I thought about it when tix went on sale, but wouldn't be right for me without Robbie, have a few friends going to see them.

We've had a couple of really good days. Spent a few hours in the park today. Had planned on going to Legoland as weather was nice, but still no car, hopefully weather will be nice on Friday. There's a bloody bird in my chimney Shock. Sorry for that outburst! Anyway, as I was saying before I was rudely interrupted by cooing bird...he's been the bloke tha I love these past couple of days, no mention of pubs, has even said no to his mate twice this week without any prompting from me, which is v. unusual, he genuinely didn't fancy it. While we were at the park we sat talking, and things he said made sense. I'm not excusing his timings etc, next time he goes out 'til stupid hours thats it, and he knows it, and for all I know he may be back next week to wanting a drink every day. He is actually drinking less than he ever has done while we've been together, its the dependancy that I don't like and am concerned about. Hopefully docs tomorrow will give him good news, and he'll be another step closer to returning to work, and I know then that he'll only be drinking twice a week max. As I type this I know it'll sound like i'm making excuses for him, but 'm really not, while we were talking today a few things came back to me from pre-LOs. Nothing he said, but it just got me thinking.

Rodeo · 30/05/2006 21:30

Hi :)
Well back from a lovely weekend! Was great to be able to relax on the sunlounger's watching the girls in the pool (and jumbo trampoline!) being handed drinks and food....ahhhh. Was lovely and hot, I've even got a tan! Anyway enough showing off.....
Diege, aw no chicken pox! There was a baby on the plane with it today :( Joe had it at 7 months too and his nappy area was terrible. But at least they've all had it now and that's it! Kisses to them all x x x Got the socks! They're lovely! BUT........ Dp only opened them AND used them while I was away!!!!!!!!!!! He obviously doesn't know me as well as I thought! AND he's not sure where the blue pair are, the tw*t!! Think they're probably caught up in the wash but JEEZ!!
Oh AND he's bidded (and won) 2 manifolds for the car (exactly the same part) on MY ebay account and has decided he doesn't want either anymore because he's got one elsewhere!! My bloody feedback rating is going to plummet to around 90% after having an unblemished 100% rating I have lovingly maintained.....
Sorry turning into a me post....back to your news.....
GG sorry you've been going through a rough patch, but happy to hear you've had a good weekend, hope it continues :)
Bob, wow all these little boys crawling! Well done little O Grin And stop tormenting us with all those trumpette goodies, are you trying to bankrupt us?!! Grin
Jenjam nice to hear your news have a lovely holiday
Sharon, GREAT to hear from you, wow 25lbs! You must try and get on here a bit more :)
Brownie & Chacha, Hello to you, will catch up with you two tomorrow, dp trying to lure me off the laptop now the children are all in bed! Although he's not trying v.hard, he's not got me a cuppa or a Ripple yet! Oh god is anyone watching celeb X-factor? Am I ever going to get a social life??
Night all :) x x x

Diege · 30/05/2006 22:14

Evening all Smile
Glad you had a lovely weekend RODEO, it sounds blissful. lol at sock saga Grin...you know it did cross my mind that he would open them, and rightly so by the saounds of things. Men are just so predictable sometimes!!! Winkbtw what's a 'manifold'?? Oh and I havn't shown Scarlett letter from Joe yet until Bella's has arrived...just one more thing to do eh!!
GG, sounds a good week so far, so fingers crossed. You seem like you have your head screwed on though Smile. Yes, we use tomy tippe too; I've always liked the little spout cover, though once they figure it out, todders have this fascination with unscrewing the whole thing (or maybe it was just mine!).
Well here's hoping that tommorrow brings me scabs, so to speak.
Night all!
Diege Smile
