sorry crossed posts Diege - I looked at the Shade-a-babe today but couldn't get 'the shroud' image out of my head, so gave it a miss. Thank you for the kind offer though Tessasmum, I'm still in two minds about taking you up on the offer as our childminder must have been standing in the garden with Nat today and her arms have caught the sun. A bit Angry about it actually, but just goes to show how quickly a bit of sun can effect them.

Diege · 05/05/2006 22:08

NOVA: Boo to John Lewis Angry, that's the sort of thing that makes me sooo mad!!! Having said that, they did deliver mu Maclaren so can;t be too harsh! My DH is away too this weekend, so we can commiserate together Smile

ChaCha · 05/05/2006 22:44

Hi girls,

Busy - Congrats on passing test - well done! Fingers crossed for uni placements, you are definitely living up to your name, hope it all works out, don't forget to post though!

Gorgeous day here, no Jane parasol in local stockist would have had to wait and cost 28quid. Managed to get a lovely white one that shaded him really well for just 14pounds. You can see it here: \link{http://www.edirectory.co.uk/pf/pages/moreinfoa.asppe=DIAHAFBQ_+white+buggy+pram+sun+parasol&cid=880\this}
Had his photo taken in our local shopping centre today as part of a baby competition, just wanted the pics done really, going to have a look at them next Friday. Had a nice evening out in the garden enjoying BBQ, summer days like this with baby have no words, just lovely, lovely, lovely!

BoB - Hair sounds nice. Mines is falling out and I do not know why.

Have a lovely weekend all. x

Rodeo · 06/05/2006 00:59

A quick checking in before bed, just got back from work!

Diege, glad the girls got their postcards :) When did they arrive? We put them in the postbos on Monday! Family get together sounds good - I'll let you know! Doe's that mean you're taking dd1 out of school for a week Shock Wink! You are naughty! How was your working week? Not too bad?

Nova, sorry to hear your feeling a bit lonely, Has dh gone far? And when are you going to win EuroMillions?!

Bob - Lovely new haircuts are so nice! Need to book one myself soon! Sorry you've been on here on your own today - it's so boring when that happens! I must make more of an effort to get on! Went to town today, and finally got some jeans that look good, after much searching! Still haven't got a new top but think I'll have to dig something out of mine or my sisters wardrobe (althogh think I've exhausted her extensive range too!)

Chacha, going to Madrid with dd1 in about 3 weeks. Dp, ds & Jess are spending the weekend together (mega gulp!) I'm quite nervous about leaving them but sure they'll be ok, fingers crossed! I'll tell him to come on here if he's got any queries Grin

Bear why doesn't your dh want you to go to the hairdressers???

Still no posts from GO? Or Jen :( Where are you girls?

Right, soooo tired must get to bed, went out for my mothers 50th last night and ended up in the casino Shock I won 80 quid! Woohoo! Grin

Night! x x x

Oh diege, meant to say, has you're new posh buggy come?? Where did you get it? Can you do a link? (Think I may be asking a bit much of you there - I know how technology minded you are Wink) And is every one ok for the 19th???!!!

Also apologise for all my spelling & grammar mistakes in last post - I'm shattered!

OP posts:
Rodeo · 06/05/2006 01:05

And Busy - brill to hear from you - great stuff re theory test and placement/college stuff :)

OP posts:
GarfieldsGirl · 06/05/2006 07:48

Good Morning Smile

Just thought i'd nip on here quickly.

Did any of you know that New Look do maternity clothes? I didn't even know George do maternity clothes until about a week ago. Looks lke I really missed out while I was pregnant.

Hi Busy - congratulations on passing theory, and at getting your college place soted adn all that work experience. Def sounds like you've been 'busy'.

ChaCha - it really sounds like your absoolutely loving being a mum Smile

Nova - sorry to hear your missing DH. Here I am complaining that i want mine back at work. You're obviously really close, and love spending time together. Its good that you've a friend who realised you were feeling a little Sad and she's been able to perk you up a little Smile

Sean's been getting a very good boy at sleeping for about 7ish hours a night, only he never does it at the same time. He usually drops off about 7 for a couple of hours, then wakes for a feed when we go up to bed. i didnt think there was any ppoint in going to sleep when I went up just after 9 cos he's usually awake not long after, so waited for him, 10pm came and went, 11pm came and went..., so went to sleep about 1, and he woke at 330. Thats just so typical, I could have had a nice long sleep, although I would have been wide awake at 330! but hey, I really shouldn't complain, I'm glad hes sleeping properly now, i'm just going to have to try to train him to do it at the right time!

Well, gotta go see dp's boss this morning, give him the latest, then i'll try and go shopping (on a saturday??!!??). I need some skirts. All mine are a little too short now, so gonna have to get some 'proper' length ones. DP never really liked me wearing them anyway! Sad

Have a good weekend everyone

GG xx

Diege · 06/05/2006 08:35

Morning everyone! 5.30 start this morning (urghh) so feel like I've been up for ages! DH away so all hands (well mine) to the deck!
Meant to say mega congrats Busy for passing theory, and sorting out work experience!! Smile; all you need now if the practical test, which I'm sure you will do pretty soon, in time for SEptember. Any tips on the hazard-perception??
RODEO: LOL about link for buggy, err, no, not possible!!! If you go on John Lewis (sorry nova!) website it's there, under buggies Smile.
Not having to take girls out of school as we are going second week in August (they break up here last week July)Smile. So where did you get jeans from?? (nosey I know, but my quest for the 'perfect' pair is never ending!! postcards arrived in 2 batches, 1 thurs, 1 fri! oh and GG, don't feel so bad about maternity wear. NL only started doing it last month Smile; maybe for next time Grin.
right, hairderessers for dds!

novadandypowder · 06/05/2006 08:40

I know what you mean GG I felt like I had to get some new mummy suitable clothes, somehow the denim mini didn't look so good when put behind a buggy!

Chacha - hair falling out is a post pregnancy thing, but I know someone on here mentioned it was to do with low iron levels? Maybe worth a chat to your GP if it's worrying you?

I'm sure she won't mind - \link{http://www.johnlewis.com/Nursery/Baby+Travel/+Pushchairs+/Buggies/230307297/Product.aspx\here} is Diege's buggy.

Another 4.30 wake up call from a cold Nat who had managed to wriggle out from under the cover I put over her. At least it's cool enough for the sleeping bag today.

Congrats to Busy - was too self absorbed to acknowledge your achievements last night Smile

Rodeo · 06/05/2006 10:46

Morning!

I feel like death this morning, I am so tired, banking on J ging for a nap soon and I think I'll join her.....lovely and sunny still though, let's hope it lasts for the day!

Diege, lovely pushchair (thanks Nova!)! My SIL has a pushchair fetish, I'd better not show her! Oh no - can't believe the postcards arrived seperately, that's rubbish! Hope it didn't cause too much upset! And 2nd week of August, not July, oops! We're going away 3rd week of Aug to Tenby, but we're thinking of a weekend in RH's bay so if it coincides with you I'll let you know :) Where is your dh? Oh yes and jeans were skinny indigo River Island ones (the tenth pair along in the long jeans selection on the website, I've just checked!), the ones in Topshop were too boring

Morning GG & Nova, hope you both have nice weekends :)

Someone's getting narky and tired (and so am I) so going for our nap now! x

OP posts:
Diege · 06/05/2006 11:34

Hi! Back from hairdressers/ballet class, and 5 mins before next set of jobs Grin. Thanks for link NOVA, now I can look at my buggy whenever I want Grin.
DH is in Lake district RODEO, doing some sponsored walk thing for work (40 miles, so lets hope he's taken suncream!!). Postcards turned out fine, as Bella's arrived first and I read it out pretending it was to both of them Smile; then when Joe's came, so did the same! Be great to meet up in Robins hood bay; have fond memories of the place from last year (slightly spoilt by a sulky DH!!).
poor you NOVA with 4.30 start Shock; will you try to have a nap today to 'get through' till bed? Is it cooler in LOndon today? A bit hotter than yesterday I think here Smile. We have ceiling fan in bedroom that's good when on, but when turned off room is instantly hot again Sad. Got really frutrated with it yesterday as it would only work with light on. Tugged the damn thing and the cord broke Blush; will have to think of excuse to tell DH!
Right, off to look at RODEO'S jeans Smile.
(oh and to open my 'shroud')!!

novadandypowder · 06/05/2006 11:45

I'd love to try and nap today but have to wait for gas man to do some maintainence thingy and he's coming between 12 and 6. Hopefully he'll be here at 12 and not when Nat is napping as the boiler is in the nursery!

Def. cooler here today, so should be ok tonight. It's weird Nat sleeps with the fans on during the day but won't at night. Had to turn the big one off before she went to sleep last night.

Rodeo · 06/05/2006 15:35

Oh Nova, I hate waiting in for gas men/cable men etc, hope he's been and gone :)

The sunshine has definitely left Derby! Rather wet here now. I'm still in my jama's and think I may be all day! Not really much to do until I get ready to go out later.

Watching Badminton Trails this afternoon, did anyone see Pippa Funnell's fall?! Luckinly horse and rider were fine but it looked bad Shock Dp has just been sent out on a McD's run, I love my BigMacs!

OP posts:
novadandypowder · 06/05/2006 16:37

sure enough he came just as I'd put her down for a nap!

Diege · 06/05/2006 16:52

Sun has gone here too Sad]; at least bed times will be easier Smile. Had nice afternoon of the park, oh and a visit from JK source (nail woman). Will do a bit more probing next time - thought it best to leave a decent interval for next request for goss' Grin.
Hope your afternoon turned out OK NOVA; agree with RODEO, waiting in for this sort of stuff is the pits; I never know what to do when they are looking at whatever they've come to fix; strike up a conversation? mumbles excuses and go to other room? Stand there looking gormless?? Grin. Hope youenjoyed your big mac RODEO Grin; am having a vegi one tonight (have given up with SW for this week Blush, and I've bought a lemon tart for afters - yum!!
Speak later,
Diege.
ps: Can anyone enlighten me on how to put 'shroud' on so that it's just got the top portion showing - ie, not the full funeral regale??

browniechick · 06/05/2006 19:01

Hi All, so much to catch up on! Bit of "me" stuff first. Had nightmareish week this week, T had his first bit of banana on Weds (having loved the pear), he loved nana too, but Weds night was a nightmare. He went to bed fine, then woke up loads, but dozed off eventually. dh fed him around 2.30am, then he didn't get back to sleep till 5am Sad I spent from 3am till 5am sat in his room (desperate for some sleep!) he fell asleep in my arms, but everytime I put him down, he cried..thought it best to just stay put till he went big asleep, which he did around 5am, then he was up again at 6.15. Was soo Angry with dh cos it was his turn for night feed (which he did) but instead of making sure that he got him back to sleep, so Mummy could sleep, he put him donw and came back to bed, then got up once to pacify him, then came back to bed and ignored his occasional squeals...I got up and sat cuddling him in his room - eventually dh got the message and just came and stood in the doorway - to which my response was, well what are doing there now? you might aswell go back to bed cos you made sure I'm up and awake now [angy]Angry.
Anyway, I was shattered at work - and worried about T at nursery - but he gave them all big smiles and had a fab day, having 3 hours worth of naps whilst there!!! He was back to normal the next day - wonder if just hisbody getting used to the new food?
Tried sweet potato today he loved it, but it went really runny when I added it to the baby rice......any ideas why? (I did give him some on its own, then thought oh I'll just add it to the rice, saves a spoon of one, then the other)
He is doing really well at nursery - he loves it and all the staff have fallen in love with him!

Diege - yes, the shade-a-babe got me puzzled too - youbasically have to fold all the meshy bit up and tuck it underneath the visor part, so it rests on the hood of the buggy - a real faff if you ask me - have used it once though - but perhaps a bit premature as it wasn't actually hot then!!!! Blush
BAM - welldone, big congrats on both the driving theory test and also the placements in preparation for college.
GG - not sure what time of year you are getting married (might have missed that bit!) but does your venue do a pig roast? They are always quite popular, suppose it depends on number of guests and what the venue will do.
Oh yes, I have ordered a couple of summer wieght grobags (1.0 tog) from a website (bargain, the cheapest I have found, and have done quite a bit of research) so they should arrive next week - so will have an exciting parcel (in the absence of my books from amaaon which still haven't been dispatched yet - they were ordered on 22 march!)

Well must go - Oh yes, Diege, loved the buggy! Am thinking of getting a lighter weight stroller for later in the eyar - have heard good things about the mclarens - quite like the quinny zapp, but they are quite expensive, so that probably rules that one out!

Have a good evening everyone!
B&T xxxx

browniechick · 06/05/2006 19:03

Gosh, sorry, didn't realise it was that long!!!!!Blush
Sun has gone here too - it has been drizzling today.
Oh yes, and am phoning Drs on Monday - T has had a chesty cough for about a week now, it doesn't seem to have got any better, so think I'll go and get someone to check him out.

Add these two posts together, and I've almost written war & peace!!!! oops Blush
xxxxx

novadandypowder · 06/05/2006 19:18

Brownie - Come on you have to tell us what bargain price you got for the sleeping bags and where you got them from. Have you tried Kiddicare for the Zapp? At the moment they have the mauve on pre-order with footmuff for £119.99 (usual price £189.99), and the orange one in stock with footmuff for (129.99). I really like my zapp although Nat finds it a bit odd not being able to recline so I only use it for short journeys at the mo.

DH sleeps through Nat waking up too, although I'd only be worried her was 'doing something wrong' if he did go to her - lol!

Anyone else gutted by Deal or no Deal today? I really wanted the £250K to be in his box.

browniechick · 06/05/2006 19:29

Sorry Nova - htought if I started to explain, then it would be 2 volumes of war and peace!!!
Got the multi-function bright stripes 1.0 tog grobags (6-18 months) for £21.20 each (incl p&p!!) Having looked all over the internet, I can't find them any cheaper - they are approx £25-26 in shops. Have a look \link{http://kidsbits.co.uk\here}

Diege · 06/05/2006 20:13

Evening! Oh Brownie, you and your links!! I have just succombed and bought a 0.5 tog sleeping bag - VERY pleased at the price, and it's so hard to find reasonable 0.5 ones (for what they are!). I have a few 1 togs already from dds, but remember thinking in the really hot summer nights how useful a .5 would be Smile. Parcel to look forward to for me too Grin. BTW, seem to remember something in my cotton wool brain about banana and possible bad reactions in SOME babies (to do with some sort of fermentation process that can cause tummy ache??). Just thinking it might account for your disrupted night BROWNIE!! LOL at you and NOVA's comments about DHs Grin. I'm just the same, with a DH who will sleep through anything (so he says). Get really irritated when I have to write down every single instruction if I dare to go out on my own Angry. Just like having a child minder!!! Am pretty narked actually as have just glanced at calender and notice DH is away for 4 days (and nights) next week (he hadn't mentioned it!!!); going to struggle to get all 3 delivered morning and night, and then get into work and back Sad. Not sure how a 2.30 leaving time will go down with boss!!! More annoyed that I wasn't told (if it was the other way around...) Angry.
Right, feel better for that! Off to spend some more money now on highchair (froggy highchair from 'Spirit of Nature' website) Grin. Getting similar emotional 'rush' as with my buggy!! The best revenge...

novadandypowder · 06/05/2006 21:29

Thanks for the link Brownie, I need to get one that you can use in a car seat for when we go on hols.

Diege - my DH is supposed to be away next week for another 10 days, it's a shame we don't live closer! Can't say I have it too bad with only one DD and no job to get to though.

Sat here with bowl of strawberries and cookie dough ice cream - yummy Grin

browniechick · 06/05/2006 21:56

Wink Diege - I think we are soo similar, it's a shame I couldn't get to the London meet up!
I keep saying, but will say again, if you (or any other friends on here) ever fancy a little outing to Shakespeare's Stratford - I will give you the grand tour!! Seriously, if anyone ever wants to take a trip up or down (depending on your location!) then you are more than welcome. Smile
Nova - the multifunction one I bought is also designed to be used in a car seat or buggy, cos it has the holes for a harness. That is another reason why I went for that one, cos thought it would be multi purpose, a good all rounder (hence why it is called a multifunctional bag!!!! lol at myself!!!!! Smile Grin)
I now have 2.5 and 1.0 tog ones, so hopefully that will suffice.
Am going to bugger off to bed in a mo - trying to catch up on sleep, it has been pants all week.

Nighty night, sleep tight one and all.

xx

beartime · 07/05/2006 02:56

hi everyone - just a quickie - woke up to Caleb screaming and DH already in there (and he wears earplugs Shock)- dread to think how long he'd been going for Blush

Brownie - GF says wait with banana because its hard to digest and can cause night-waking.

Wedding was great - I made my best effort by plaiting my hair in half up half down look, then got there and they took it all out anyway and gave me two front curls and two plaits with rest of hair down. I think it looked nice Grin

LOL at you all with buggy link and Diege's commemt 'now I can look at it whenever I want' Grin

novadandypowder · 07/05/2006 09:30

Glad the wedding went well Bear, hope to see some pics? Lol with the hair. How did the feeding go in the end?

Well back to normal for Nat last night, I however was wide awake at 4.30!!! Doesn't take long for the body clock to alter does it! Such a relief that the weather has cooled down, just have to hope it lasts until wednesday.

My latest obession is baby food. I'm trying to work out what to take on hols. I can't bring myself to buy those powdered foods (mmmm reconstituted roast dinner anyone?), and have a selection of organic jars (quite heavy and breakable) and the Plum baby superfood pots (Nat not the biggest fan of the weird combinations so far). I'm sure we'll be able to get things like breakfast, fruit and yoghurt at the hotel but I want to be prepared ( take lots of things that I know Nat likes). What have you all done?

novadandypowder · 07/05/2006 09:32

Also, Diege how did you find the baby balm, is Libby any better?
