mg have sent you an email, I only have the original address for msn! Grin are you feeling bright and breezy after Cameron's good night? Thomas had an awful night so I have been walking around like a zombie most of the day (can't wait for him to have a nap as I could do with one myself!!)
mb have you had Johnny weighed? how is he doing?
susiss how did the weekend go? still sleeping through?

Just back from baby group. Johnny put on 3oz over the last fortnight, so an average of 1.5oz per week. Hmm, not great but still a gain and keeping him between the 2nd and 9th centile on the chart. I have decided just to hold off with the solids. We are so nearly there!!

MG - I will email you that stuff about the thunderclouds - it's very interesting.

Johnny's backpack is causing great excitement round the village. You would think that people had never seen a baby before - people (strangers!) in shops and even just on the street go daft when they see him and in the library last week there was a toddler who shouted "baby on the back" about ten times at full volume!! Of course Johnny loves all the attention and grins at them all Grin from up high. (Well, not that high! I'm only 5' 2")

The blockage in my breast seems to have cleared and I will just need to be on the look out for signs of it happening again so that I can nip it in the bud.

Yokefleet · 03/04/2006 15:57

mb great news! Re backpack is it big and bulky? sounds a really good idea but I can't remember seeing them whilst out and about [dim emoticon] Grin

Hi All, we're back from our weekend away. Joey's croup and cold has completely gone (thank goodness), and we've had a lovely weekend just chilling out, doing lots of walking in the forest, and taking Joey swimming, which he loves. Oh yes, and we've booked the venue for our wedding reception, and have been checking out houses for our move later in the summerSmile

Elf - The expressing is going v well, although it is really noisy! I usually get up and creep downstairs to do it so i don't wake DP and Joey up, though our neighbour's adjoining wall is quite thin, so goodness knows what they think! Having spent a small fortune on the NUK silicone teats, as i have a mild latex allergy, typically Joey also prefers the latex ones! They are much softer, which he seems to like, even though they do collapse a lot when he's actually sucking them. Hope everyone's ok, NM x

ELF Fab photo Grin
Reasonable night here, just one feed through the night at 4.40am. DH wanted to give Thomas a kiss before going to work and woke him up (6.45am) I was not impressed but I know he misses him during the day so I shouldn't really complain so ds is now laid on my bed rattling his rattle! WIDE AWAKE
RTL are the shingles clearing?
NM you are going to be having a very busy year then! within a year of being married, married in August 2004 we had moved house twice (once 1 mile and once 250miles) was nearly 8months pg on our anniversary! We like to be busy you know Blush

YF- it's one of these \link{http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Tomy-Dream-Rider-Backpack-Back-Pack-Baby-Carrier_W0QQitemZ7756086556QQcategoryZ100984QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem\backpacks} which I got off ebay. I made the mistake of putting too much in the bag, so I will need to sort that out. I don't really need 5 nappies, a huge bag of wipes and three changes of clothes just to go out to the baby clinic!!

Elf - what a cutie pic of Evie Grin

MG - I haven't forgotten about emailing that stuff to you. DH got a new external hard drive for the PC and he "tidied" up the hard disk and now I can't find anything.... Angry

We had a better night last night. Johnny only needed feeding at 10pm just as I was going to bed, and then at 3.30am, so an improvement and I don't feel quite so knackered. Hooray!

SusiS · 04/04/2006 09:20

nm great news about joey being back to his normal self. and well done you on taking him swimming so often!! i really should start too

mb oh great backpack. i remember we had one for me too (well not so much remember more seeing pictures of me in one) - glad you had a better night too :)

yf aww bless your dh! i can understand that he wants to see him in the morning! but i do understand your point too :o
and thx for asking: the weekend was allright actually. she still wakes up at 3ish but doesn't need feeding!!! - only yesterday she was all whingy ALL day and nothing was right. and when we put her to bed at night she wouldn't settle. so not her - and guess what: she had temp 38.2 Shock - and i almost got angry with her during the day Blush - had a crap night! she woke, took about 20min to settle her and 20 min later she woke again - till about 5am when we both finally got a couple of hours untill ds woke bright and ready for the day! oh well, call me zombie :o

and elf: evie is so cute with her 'big' ears!!

Elf1981 · 04/04/2006 12:34

Evie rolled over this morning!
She was in the bed, I had a little looksie at her, she was really far over on her side, so I went to our room asking DH to look at her, he said he'd look in a min... by the time I got in her room again, she was on her tummy, looking at me! I was so excited!!

Yokefleet · 04/04/2006 16:57

WELL DONE EVIE! Grin
susis I feel like a permanent zombie these days too! Wink
mb thanks for the link, will have a look for one at the weekend I think.

Elf1981 · 04/04/2006 17:53

Oh my God, Evie's tooth has broken through, she just bit me and it bloody hurt!!

mawbroon · 04/04/2006 18:49

Blimey Elf!! It's all go with Evie just now!

DH is just putting Johnny to bed and i hear tears. Oh dear, hope he settles ok. He was fidgetting about and popping on and off my breast when I was feeding him just now so I was a cruel Mummy and just took him off. I work on the basis of "well, if he's hungry then he would sook the damned thing" Grin

mummygow · 05/04/2006 09:54

Yehhhhhhhhhhhh Evi Yehhhhhhhhhhhh Evi again!!
So does she look like you then elfWinkGrin

How are you today zombie - oops I mean Susis, how is lo's temp today - is she still not herself, it's horrible at this age when they can't tell you what's wrong with them.

NM glad Joey's feeling better too. My you are a busy women, but I'm sure you'll have loads of fun with all the exciting plans you have!!

YF are you still in zombie mode today or did you have a better night?

MB hope you had a good night too!

Where are you RTL hope you are feeling alright - are you back at work or still trying to get a rest?

Cameron has been whinging for about 3/4 days now and I swear yeterday I thought I would blow a gasket but a very nice mumsnetter (mb) gave me a good peice of advice last night and it was basically to start everday as a new day (she didn't even know she was helping)and I woke up feeling refreshed this morning!! Thank you [smil]

Yokefleet · 05/04/2006 15:43

mg still zombie like here but did have a better night Thomas woke at 4.30 but by the time I got into his room he was snoring again! woke again at 5.30 for a feed then slept til 8am! so alot better
Took Thomas out for a walk with my dad this morning along the beach clear blue sky with just a little cold freeze we walked for nearly 2hrs then went back to my parents and mum and done us pie and mash!! fab (I daren't tell dh as all he will have had is a ham sandwich Wink and meat pie is one of his faves)
mb did Johnny settle last night?

OP posts:
mawbroon · 06/04/2006 08:35

Morning all. Oh dear, the nights are going downhill at far too fast a rate. Sad Johnny wouldn't go down last night at all which is quite unusual. I'm sure it's his teeth. I gave him an A&P powder and later some Calpol. He was so upset with real tears streaming down his little cheeks. I brought him downstairs with us and we snuggled and fed until my bedtime at 10pm. The he slept until midnight and then I spent the rest of the night co sleeping in the spare bed in his room. He is dribbling like mad and chomps on anything that goes near his mouth so I'm hoping these teeth make an appearance soon! DH will be getting too used to having our king size bed all to himself. Shock

MG - I'm glad my "words of wisdom" LOL have helped you. That's £250 please Wink

We have booked the boat for another trip over to Holland to see DH's grandfather. He's not doing so great and hopefully it will perk him up a bit to see us and especially Johnny. When we went in January, Johnny was so easy to travel with, in fact he was a better sailor than us on a particularly rough crossing on the way over. Here's hoping he's easy this time too...

nervousmum · 06/04/2006 16:43

Oh dear Mawbroon, my sympathies to you - we had some really bad nights with Joey last week. He's been better for the last few nights, i think it was just his cold, poor mite. He actually managed 11.5 hours asleep last night, with only one feedSmile

I'm a bit worried about my, ahem, nipples. Since the weekend, my right one has been a bit sore, and it's looking quite red and cracked on the upper side. I wasn't too concerned, and just put it down to all the swimming we did, but now my left one's done the same thing, and they really hurt when Joey initially latches on. I'm slathering them in Lansinoh cream in between feeds (kind of defeats the object when i then shove breast pads over them to stop them leaking in between feeds though!). Any ideas? Thanks, NM x

mawbroon · 06/04/2006 17:19

NM - ouch. All I can suggest is trying different positions to try to find the one which is least sore when he feeds. I would also check your nipples for little white dots as these can be signs of blockages which can become very sore if you don't deal with them early. Do you express at all? It might help to rest your nipples for a couple of feeds. I know that the pumping isn't painless either when you have sore nipples, but at least you are in control of it!! It might be worth looking through the archives of the breast feeding threads, or starting your own thread as I have seen some very good advice being given, especially from tiktok.

Johnny has been so good today. How come he can be absolutely fine through the day and then his teeth bother him at bedtime? If he wasn't so young, I would say that he was at it and playing up so he didn't have to go to bed, but he's way too young for that sort of stuff (I hope!!) I think it might just be that there are many distractions from the pain during the day, but when he has to lie all alone in a dark room then he has nothing else to think about. Gosh, that sounds horrible that my baby sleeps all alone in a dark room.... I never thought of it like that!

Elf1981 · 06/04/2006 17:33

MB - my belief is that it is never too early to play us up! Evie is a beggar for not sleeping for DH when he's on his own with her, even though she'll quite happy go to sleep in his arms when I'm at home!! Its as if she wants to make sure that I'm home safely before she goes to sleep!!

Is Johnny's temp going up at night at all? Evie is a lot warmer at night in the sleeping bag etc, perhaps there is a slight increase in temperature that is making his teeth hurt than more so in the day? (I am the Queen of Clutching at Straws to find A Reasonable Explation!

mawbroon · 07/04/2006 07:27

Well.... Johnny got put to bed at 7pm as usual last night. He didn't make a peep for around 10 minutes then he whinged on and off until 8pm but we didn't go in as it was only whingeing, not full blown crying. I went to bed at 9pm and only woke at 6.30am because my boobs were exploding. Johnny started gurgling and babbling around 6.45am so thats almost 11 hours for him and 9 and a half for me. Yipee!! Today I will probably be dashing about with all the extra energy and then I'll be pooped by tea time!

MBSmile

nervousmum · 07/04/2006 09:22

Yay! Glad you both had a good nightSmile

JustBonnie · 07/04/2006 09:31

hi everyone. Haven't been on for a while but have had a quick read through and it sounds as if everyone is doing really well!! We have decided to try and sell and move to a bigger house so the house has been on the market for a couple of weeks. Tidying for viewers is a real pain especially as yesterday I spent a good couple of hours making my house look immaculate only for the viewers to cancel at the last minute Angry.

Well, ruby doesn't have any teeth yet but is rolling backwards and forwards like anything. She is so curious and tries to grab anything that is in reach. When she gets on her tummy she tries frantically to move to grab a toy and I'm sure she'll be on the go before long....that's when the fun really starts. The nights have improved a lot and it's hit and miss whether she sleeps through. She does sometimes but if she does wake it's only once now which is great. She really seems to have turned a corner. She is still sharing a room with us as it's either that or putting her in with her 2 yr old sister and I don't want to do that until I know she'll sleep through.

She still loves her door bouncer but is not over keen on her walker yet. She's not sitting up very well and tends to slump forward so hopefully when she can support herself a bit better she'll enjoy it more.

She is officially 6 mths old on Wednesday and I can't believe where the time's gone!!

As I haven't been on for a while just wondering if anyone's pregnant again yet or planning to soon?? Smile No more for me but I know some of you were planning more.

mummygow · 07/04/2006 10:17

JB yop are joking aren't you - PREGNANT - just now - now way on gods good earth (well not in the immediate future)Smile
Ruby is a star - rolling backwards and forward!!
Have you found a house you like yet?

MB so glad Johnny and you had a better night, try and conserve some of that energy...... for me!!Smile
When are you off to Holland?

NM, how are the NIPPLES..... (just wanted to make you Blush - no really are they feeling any better today?

Elf I had to bring my tempreture down as I thought it was getting slightly hotter at night. And completely agree that they learn fast how to play up - Cameron was really whingy last week not even cryibg (I could deal with that with a little soothing etc) but just that whinging noise ahhggggggggg, well anyway I kept picking him up and trying to play with him etc etc but no, still whinging, so I decided just to leave him and guess what he stopped - They def learn from an early age!!

YF that walk with your dad on the beach and your nice hot homemade dinner sounded FAB Envy

Cameron doing great, we are up at my mum's today, she is working and her gardner was coming so we had to be here for 8am this morning. I am so proud of myself for getting us all up and dressed and out for 7.50am. We even walked up to my mums for some excercise (with about 20 bags, well 4 including my handbag). Dont know how it's happened but I've ended up with my 2 nephews as well.

Elf1981 · 08/04/2006 08:49

Evie has two teeth now!!

Have a good weekend everybody :)

mawbroon · 08/04/2006 09:25

JB- stop it!! I was just getting over my paranoia about being pregnant!! I had a real craving yesterday for zureharing which is Dutch pickled herring. Luckily there was a jar in the cupboard Grin but not luckily, it was vinegar I craved when pg. I'm going to have to test as the other symptoms which gave it away last time were extreme tiredness (which I have had since Johnny was born) and large tender breasts (which I've had since Johnny was born) Shock My AF hasn't returned yet either...

MG - we are away to Holland a week today for 6 nights (including two nights on the boat).

Elf - can you feel Evies teeth when she is bf? My understanding is that the tongue covers the teeth and you don't feel them when baby is feeding normally. Has she bitten you yet? Johnny hasn't got any teeth yet and I'm not in a desperate hurry for them to come through! Wink

Hope you manage to sell your house soon JB. Have you bought one yet to move to or are you waiting to sell first?

I was out at the shopping centre yesterday with Johnny in his backpack. I managed to wander around easily for an hour and a half and could have probably carried him for another couple of hours if need be. I was at 45 mins max with the sling so this is a great improvement. I even managed to use the loo while he was still in the backpack! I use a bumbag instead of a handbag so I have both hands free. It's great! GrinGrin

mummygow · 08/04/2006 10:14

Elf it will be steak and chips in no time if the teeth keeping popping through at this rate Grin

MB I take is dh from holland or did his family move there? Do you like it? Would you ever condider moving or would you not leave your family behind?

I had to wake Cameron at 7.05 this morning. I think I'm going to start some tough love - like leaving him on floor to play despite the moans, as I just feel that if I dont he'll not learn to do stuff - with Jessica I was so much more focused and would say to everyone just leave her she is frustrated but she'll soon start working it out for herself and she did, yet with Cameron I go running and pick him up and try and find something else for him to do. No more!!
(I'll let you know how long it lasts Wink)
