Emski76 · 06/11/2012 20:07

Reastie, as i said before I am also quite an angry person, and feel that it might be good if you and dh discuss something you can say to him when he's taking it too far. I know if dh said something to me when I used to get angry I would have flown at him whereas if we had a code word or sentence it would calm me and almost make me see sense. I do agree with Ledkr tho that I would be at the end of tether getting up loads at night with the boys do I guess your dh does need a little understanding too which I can tell you are trying to do.

On a lighter note, dh is watching Superman 500000000000(!!!!!) and thinks their genius. Am I the only one who thinks their a pile of poo?!!

americanexpat · 07/11/2012 02:29

Bloody nightmare with the election! DH and I voted this afternoon with a 5 minute wait but I've heard stories of massive 2+ hr queues and I remember waiting 1.5 hrs to vote in 2004. I can't wait until it's over - it's been near constant political adverts. Fingers crossed Obama pulls through, I will be absolutely gutted if Romney wins. Sad

americanexpat · 07/11/2012 04:52

The projections show Obama has won. Grin Of course, the same thing happened in 2000 and I woke the next morning to see that Bush had actually won. Sad And my state has elected two openly gay members of Congress which is a massive step forward.

blizy · 07/11/2012 07:07

YAY FOR OBAMA!

wigglesrock · 07/11/2012 19:57

I had fiddled about with Threads I'm On and lost you all [sob], thought you'd found better friends Grin

Yay for Obama, I was almost too afraid to turn on the tv this morning to find out the result!

reastie I'm so sorry you are having such a difficult time lately. I'm not sure of how much I can add, everyone has said so many wise things, but sending lots of love xxxxx. I grew up with an "angry parent" - it was very difficult and I make a conscious effort never to be the same type of parent. I tell the girls off and lose my temper but I never make them feel like crap just because I'm in a shit mood. Nobody has to be the same type of parent their mother/father was.

Re Mr Ws weight loss Grin - he has halved portions, has porridge/eggs for breakfast, salad for lunch and then dinner. He would have a sweet tooth, so no biscuits, cakes, wine etc.

blizy I know how you feel re you baby brother, I have very difficult days with Mr Ws job especially lately Sad

Right off to jeff juke at the photos

reastie · 08/11/2012 15:00

Hello everyone Thanks again for your thoughts and help re: DH issues. Ledkr FWIW the reason dh started taking over on alot of night times was as I can only seem to settle DD at nights by bfing her, which is quite physically tiring to do. We'll work on it and hope it will get better, I'll do what I can and he will hopefully work on it too. It's v hard when he can't/refuses to talk about things though, he is a definite head in the sand type of person!

blizy how are you doing re: DB? Any signs of AF or should I just not ask?

Ems I've never seen a superman film. Never seen a James Bond or Star Wars either .

Took Alice to her gym class this morning and she had a great time - haven't taken her to a class in a couple of weeks (although we've had some of her friends over) and think she got a bit over excited with all of the soft play!

Parents evening tonight - boo. Also am sucking up working for free on my afternoon off in a couple of weeks to go on a course Angry - best not get me going on that one though!

ledkr · 08/11/2012 20:40

I had parents pm too reast never a problem with Ella which I deserve after 3 boys ha ha. Are you still bf? Would that make you low iron esp if dieting too. D been hilarious today I got her some little uggs and she looks so cute.
Has anyone seen needto s thread in relationships poor woman

ILovePonyo · 08/11/2012 21:08

Hello all, am watching masterchef and having a Wine Ooh get me! A has been a funny charmer today, pulling funny faces and at one point saying "no thank you" when I asked if she wanted something, my face was like this Shock

reastie good luck with dh. It is hard when someone refuses to talk about things, have you tried suggesting things to him and the just leaving it and coming back to it later so he can get his head around it?

american aww at L's curls, bet he looks so different :) piccies please!

blizy how are you feeling? I bet it os the hormones making you feel wobbly, its easy to underestimate how much they can affect you. I hate feeling anxious, it can really set me back, so just hope you're ok and having lots of Alfie snuggles Grin

ledkr massive Grin at mil's saggy sour face, very true, I may be fat but I still get ID'd this week, ha! Love the image of D in uggs, cute :) I have to do framework training for my new job soon, do you use it and is it easy to use?!

I start my new job soon, only 3 days left of work next week, scary!

blizy · 08/11/2012 22:19

Hope parents evening went well reastie. How are you today?

Ponyo, Grin at Anya. Very good manners! My little mindee always says thank you very much in an elvis type accentGrin.

I'm feeling better now thanks, defo hormone related! My wee sis is also ready to have her baby any day due on the 15th, I am very nervous about that.

Wiggles, well done to mr w! Hope you are all well.

Right I'm off to bed, had a horrid night last night, fingers crossed for some sleep!

reastie · 09/11/2012 18:23

Gosh poor needto . I was suppose to see her in half term but then Ben was ill Sad

Blizy you made me chuckle with the elvis thank you very much comment Grin . Good luck to your sister, it's not long now, and also not long until LV! Hoping you managed to get some sleep last night. Parents evening was surprisingly better than I had worried about - no awkward parents and all the bad stuff I had to say the parents seemed to be expecting/not surprised/supportive about.

Ponyo how very well behaved of Anya to say thank you Wink . We've got Alice quite good with please, but she's not so hot with thank you.

ledkr hope your parents eve went well too. Re: bfing, yes, I'm still doing one feed in the evening (and occasionally at night if Alice wakes up and I get stay up duty). I thought about giving up because of the iron thing, but looked into it and apparently one feed a day shouldn't use up a huge amount of stores, it's my copper coil giving me, ahem, flooding during AF which is causing it. Still on the high iron diet it's a great excuse to eat dark chocolate

Went into Monsoon on the way home from work today and bought a lovely dress for work (all my work dresses are either one size too small pre preg ones or 2 sizes too big fat ones). I went Shock in the changing room as it actually makes me look like I have a very slight allbeit chubby figure! Didn't realise how awful my 2 sizes too big work dresses looked!!! May have to take it back though as it's just a tad too tight and I'm paranoid I look pregnant in it with my big sticking out a bit too much tummy Blush . Have ordered some dresses online also today so maybe one of those will fit a bit better

ledkr · 11/11/2012 07:56

Marking place as nothing of any interest to say apart from d woke up at 4 vomited and hasn't been back to sleep since

ILovePonyo · 11/11/2012 15:24

Hi all, A has not had a nap yet today, do you think I should try and keep her awake til bedtime now?! Also she has impetigo Sad her poor nose and chin is looking v sore and red. Went to out of hours docs today and she's got some medicine to help. I don't know much about impetigo, have been googling, any advice?

Ledkr hope D is ok. What a grim night for you.

Blizy I love the mindee who does an Elvis thank you very much that made me Grin

Reastie any reason to buy new clothes sounds good to me!

reastie · 11/11/2012 18:21

ponyo you see, you DID need that rash book in the end didn't you Wink . Isn't it impetigo that's super infectious? I'm thinking try to keep her away from other children for the contagious period and assuming nursery won't take her with it. First time I had heard of impetigo a student in my tutor group had it and she had to stay off school until she wasn't infectious (hoping I haven't got muddled up with some other rash type thing). That doesn't really give you any help on the practical side though does it?!

Ledkr how is D now? Sounds very miserable

blizy · 11/11/2012 19:07

Ponyo, it is very contagious, you will have to check with the nursery about exclusion period. Just makes sure you and Dh use a separate towel and be over zealous with hand washing. Oh and no kissing A on her face.Sad. Hope she is ok?

ILovePonyo · 11/11/2012 20:32

Thanks both, yep very contagious so will nursery tomo and see what they say. I have a feeling she'll be off tomo and tues at least. Not great timing as its my last week of work and I've got loads to do! Dp taking tomo off work.

Thanks for the advice, she keeps rubbing it then touching things, aagh! I feel a bit rubbish as i read somewhere it can be caused by poor hygiene Sad that's not the case here (I hope!)

Grannyapple · 11/11/2012 20:40

Hi ladies...sorry, been a while. Been manic with work & N has had a touch of cold/flu for over 2 weeks & only just over it!

reastie I promise I will put pics of windows up soon. Have emailed the pics to my laptop by dh is currently hogging it, trying to draw up a kinda flexible working proposal for working from home 1 day a week, as it looks like I'll be increasing my days from 3 to 4 (we're trying to avoid an additional days nursery fee/week to make it more viable for me to do the extra day/week). A colleague has resigned & looks like they won't be replacing her in the interim..figured I'll end up doing extra work anyway, so may as well get paid for it. Thankfully my boss agrees & has been v receptive to the idea. We're going to do it as a trial for about 6-9 months (depends in when a colleague returns from mat leave). Sorry that's v boring post-apologies!!

blizy how many days now til Vegas? How exciting..

ponyo sorry to hear A has impetigo...nightmare for you..

ledkr sympathies with D vomiting & general grumpiness (N gets v grumpy & sorry fur himself when ill, wee soul!).

Waves to everyone else.....

ledkr · 12/11/2012 07:01

Granny that's like my job tbh I do full time job in part time hrs and annoying colleague for fuck all and uses every chance she can to leave early or be off soooooo entitled.

wigglesrock · 12/11/2012 20:56

Evening all, ponyo hope A is soon on the mend xxxx

ledkr hows D?

Anna is still suffering from a bad cold and as for her bloody cough [aaggh]

Nothing exciting here Grin Was at a how to do maths homework with your P1 type course at Olivias school tonight. Deffo felt more comfortable skulking at the back but we all had to participate [eye roll] Grin Who knew dominoes could be so complicated?

Had an Ikea trip and bought some Christmas presents with Tesco double up vouchers today - living the dream fellow Febbers, living the dream Grin

Grannyapple · 12/11/2012 22:10

Ha ha wiggs I'm actually quite jealous...was just thinking today that I could do with a wee festive trip to ikea Smile

ledkr · 13/11/2012 18:10

Hey wiggs. D has had a cough for bloody weeks now they keep saying chest is clear and she is now on inhalersHmm
Bit off colour but bloody hilarious
Ponyo framework is that the caf process using the five outcomes? Yrs it's good but slightly oddly worded IMO
Had day from hell at work just want to crawl into my bed and give up. Ungrateful entitled bastards my clients. Get a friggin grip will you!

wigglesrock · 13/11/2012 20:10

ledkr when A was at the Drs a few weeks ago, the Dr said that if I wanted she would give me some inhalers.

Sweet baby Jesus, Sofia came home with the songs for her Christmas play [already!!] We have already had Hosanna Rock ten times this evening - makes the tin whistle seem tuneful Grin

Emski76 · 13/11/2012 20:27

Wiggles, Ben sang 4, yes 4 Xmas songs yesterday that he's learning for his Xmas play. I too, had a 'class' at Bens school today, it was a reading class! Very interesting and a bit overwhelming!.
Can I join the group with the coughy/coldly babes. Noah's had an awful cough for about a week, nd is just getting over a stinking cold. He's not been overly grumpy but has a constant snail trail with I tend to find over my work clothes most days!
Ponyo, I hope A is ok, and recovering from her impetigo. Poor baby. I'm sure it's nothing to do with hygiene. A friend of mine used to get it and she was very clean!
Led, sorry about your shit day at work. Must be so hard dealing with your clients sometimes.

tadjennyp · 14/11/2012 18:37

Sorry, been absent with some health issues for a little while but have been trying to keep up with everyone's news. Hope A's impetigo is better Ponyo and all the coughs are getting better. I hope the last day of your job goes really well too Ponyo and your new job is just what you wished for; same for Granny with the new flexible stuff.

Had a needle biopsy on my thyroid yesterday as there is a 2.5cm lump there. They're usually benign, but you have to check that they're not cancerous. It didn't hurt really, which was a good job as I still had to pick the dcs up and take them to swimming lessons! Had the coil removed last week too as I was fed up of almost constant bleeding. I'm with you there reastie. So onwards and upwards.

Feeling Envy of all the Christmas songs. They are not allowed to even mention the C word here at school and but concerts can include songs with snowmen and reindeer. Hmm

Hope everyone is having a good day and the little blighters sleep well tonight!

reastie · 15/11/2012 12:36

Tad how long before you get the results? I'm sure chances are it'll be fine but it still must be a bit of a worry at the back of your mind.

Love the christmas songs for school plays - you see how long they have to practice these things for - I'd be expecting some great things from the school nativity if I were you Wink

ponyo how is Anya?

Wiggles I do hate it when you have to participate in these things and can't just sit quietly at the back!

Granny hope you get work sorted out, and I may be pming you at some point if you don't mind to ask a few more questions re: your windows. We are slowly getting there with planning our work on the house - next stage is a structural engineer is coming over next week

Not much to report here. DH is coming with me to the GP tomorrow afternoon re: a MH issue I'm struggling with at the minute. It's pathetic but I'm already nervous about the appointment Blush .

I love how I offer Alice options for snacks and she says 'nnooooooooo' with her nose turned up like 'why on earth would you even contemplate offering me that ?' type of way!

wigglesrock · 15/11/2012 12:50

tadjennyp hope you're feeling better soon, take care xxxxxx

reastie how you doin'? [in Joey from Friends stylee] Grin at Alice

Anna is much more of a blunt foot stamper and "Nooooooo Mammeee" squealed very loudly. She has appeared to has completely lost the ability to speak in an "inside voice". Everything is guldered at you.

Sofia has given us a preview of more songs from the Christmas play - one of which sounds like a re-working of "I don't know how to love him" from Jesus Christ Superstar Hmm Very intrigued now, although have a sneaking suspicion her teacher may be over reaching himself with Sofia and the singing Grin He's taking her class of 23 on the train to the Library next week, I may offer him gin!
