Its a shame emski but sounds like you're being realistic and you've tried. It's not like its your fault, you've not caused her to be that way. I get on well with my mum but she isn;t the most affectionate person, especially when I was younger, and i see that with her and A sometimes, she can be a bit critical when doesn;t need to be if that makes sense? She'll do it like she's joking but its not funny. Thats why I asked about your mum with her grandkids, its a shame really isnt it. Hope you're ok.

reastie yes yes, stick to your guns, arguing about money is horrible but its your inheritance and yours to spend on what you see fit not bloody trees Wink

Speaking of money, dp and I are skinty skint this month already, its so bloody depressing. I can't wait til we can spend less on nursery and actually have some cash to do something nice!

ledkr A only ever wants to wear a "pretty dress" and cried when I dressed her in leggings and top this morning Hmm I am getting fed up of it too, and sent her to nursery (in the car) without her coat on this morning because I was fed up of chasing her around the house trying to put her coat on. Thats how she learnt to wear gloves though, when it was freezing ages ago she refused to put them on when we were at the park, so I said ok, then she cried because her hands were frozen Blush but now she wears them!

wiggles 'piss' is so funny, I read that out to dp Grin

A has been very funny recently, lots of manic giggling and surprising me by remembering stories we've read and recounting them at random times Shock I picked her up from nursery today and the first thing she told me was "Zion pished me" then at accusing look at him Grin proper little tattle tale!

ILovePonyo · 12/03/2013 21:41

"pished" Confused pushed of course!

Hobknob hellooo, wow to the snow your way, ridic! Please tell me more about your stubborn girl to make me appreciate that A is not the most stubborn 2 year old ever (I exaggerate! I just want to hear about Imy Wink)

ponyo an example from today. The girls asked for a banana. S peeled hers and proceeded to eat it. Imogen peeled hers, then handed it back, insisting I cut the minute black parts out. I did (after making her say please). She squeezed it so hard it broke in half. She then started crying that her banana was broken, so I offered to slice it into little pieces for her. Not good enough- she started howling, throwing herself around and trying to kick me. I offered her either her broken banana or sliced banana again, at which point the screaming escalated and she started kicking her sister. I sent her to her room. She slammed the door several times then carried on screaming. I gave her 4 minutes then went in- she was STILL howling about the buggering broken banana.

By this time her sister had quietly eaten her banana, thrown the peel in the bin, and started playing with playdough.

Imogen came out of her room, saw that her sister had chosen the green play dough mat and immediately started howling again. Cue massive eyeroll from me, and her back in her room after whacking her sister.

Give me my 2 year old any day!!!

wiggles its you with the Fassbender crush isn't it? I just watched an entire film with him in, and didn't realise till the closing credits Blush In my defence, he did have a large and luxurious moustache.

Wow Deb, ok I see what you mean! Yeah thats full on. A has occasionally cried because her bircuits broken in half or something but Imy takes it to another level! You sound very patient :) Thanks for sharing, night now I am off to bed :)

I remember Ben doing the banana thing. If I peeled it completely it was wrong, if I peeled it half way it was wrong. If a teeny tiny bit of the 'string'was on it, it was wrong, if I chopped it, if I didn't chop it!!!! The worst is when they say they've finished eating something so you eat it instead then they flip out cos you've eaten it!!! I did that many times with Ben. I double check now with Noah!!

Happy Birthday to Pablo!!

God everyone knows its got to be a " monkey nanna" half peeled perfectly.
I can't wait until she kicks off at mils insistence on. Bowl table cloth and mat for a mere banana! Go on dills kick her in the shins Grin
I have massive spots for the races! That will be a glass or two less of champagne!!

That's so funny re: bananas. Alice HAS to have her bananas 'big girl' styley (or monkey nana a la Ledkr) or she turns her nose up.

Happy Birthday Pablo Grin . Love the cake you made k2

L just said yesterday that his banana was broken, I thought it was hilarious. Grin He's generally not picky about his food but he's very "me do it" trying to get him dressed. He did get his shoes on yesterday morning, even on the right feet pure luck. DH said they were getting ready to leave his morning, he took a quick trip to the loo and came back to find L had taken his coat and shoes off and was working on his trousers. Grin

Robin - since I've been using the vaseline, my skin is almost completely normal now. Shock The downside is that I now have vaseline all over my face but hey ho.

Something inside my left ear flared up over night and my entire ear canal feels like it's on fire. Sad I saw the GP this morning, she took one look at it and said it was worrying, so I left with a prescription for antibiotics and one for hydrocodone to help with the pain. She said if it hasn't improved in 48 hours, go straight to A&E in case it spreads. Shock

Ems - I'm sorry things are so difficult with your mum. I completely agree with everyone that you should put some distance between two and don't engage with her unless necessary. These stories of rubbish mums make me feel very sad, every child should feel absolutely supported. Xxx

We're so in sync American, I have an ear infection - I'm not copying you I promise! I need to get it sorted - it's not sore but I went for a hearing test and the lady said that she couldn't fit my new hearing aids because my ear wet inside and it would be difficult to fit the prescription. I'm getting pink ones Grin which is quite exciting after a lifetime of wearing beige! Feeling like your ear canal is on fire sounds horrible, I hope you feel better soon.

Ponyo glad that the funeral went as well as it could :). Anya sounds so sweet always wanting to wear her pretty dresses. I bet she looks so gorgeous!

All of the broken banana stories reminded me of the "Cutted Up Pear" thread that's in classics :o

I have had the odd tantrum about broken biscuits/bananas. Even Isabel whines if her biscuit is broken - I tell her to shush and it will all end up that way anyhow! :o

ledkr sometimes I do a "monkey nana" and leave it in the peel but I end up finding bits of banana peel that L has shredded into the sofa when my back is turned!

Hobknob hope you get the computer sorted!

Happy Birthday Pablo

Well ladies, you'll all be very pleased to know that I've done the Shred 3 days in a row! I'm very impressed with myself. I'm determined to do it to level three. L did it with me! She's hilarious - she copies the arm crosses and star jumps, then she gets all all fours and does press ups! Her version is just bobbing her head up and down. So cute!

Aw ems I missed your post. My mum was a good mum until she had my two sisters. They are very conventional and did well at school and caused no worries (unlike me) I often feel like they are all very judgey of me and its kind of them and me. I was a bit of a handful as a teen but no one stops to think that might be because I stopped being parented at around 13. Also my life turned out quite tough and that's why I'm quite strong and gobby which is I think what they dislike about me.
Anyway as wiggs said I also took control over it all. I stick up for myself and have learned to love who I am so fuck em. Let them walk a mile in my flip flops and see if they are still perfect!!
The stately homes ladies are lovely why not post there.
Took girls for tea at the pub. Too lazy to cook. D did a massive stinky pooh as soon as the meal came
I'm sat in bed painting my nails ready for races tomorrow.woooo

Robin well done on 3 days of the shred. I did level 1 on Tuesday as I couldn't get to the gym. Haven't done it in a few months and I still ache! I've done level 3 in the past but have never managed to do all the exercises on level 3 - I'm rubbish with core and there's loads of plank based work. Funnily enough Alice joined in with me on the shred on Tuesday - when I was doing the lunging she kept crawling through my legs getting in the way and giggling. Then when I was using the weights she improvised by picking up the telephone and using that as a weight!

Ledkr sorry but Grin at the smelly poo as the food came. Now, please tell me she wasn't bare bottomed again

Reastie, that was my first thought about D too!!!

Robin, Reastie, I did day 1 of shred last night, with Ben helping me, passing me weights and advising me on my technique!! Bloody hard word but going to try to keep at it. Can definitely feel it today.

Led, thanks and will take a look at the stately thread. Just really wish I had a mum I could get on with, makes me so sad sometimes.

Ouch to ear problems Robin, and American. Painful.

Better go I can hear Ben and the cat jumping around his bedroom!!

Morning all, I dropped off threads I'm on.

Emski, sorry to hear aou your relationship with your mum, I can empathise with you. I have no advice though.

Ponyo, how are you?

Nothing interesting from me, just been plodding along. However, my wee 2 yr old mindee is leaving me at the end of the month Sad. So, I'm on the lookout for more mindees and I have been applying for jobs too, I'll have to take whatever comes first.

Anyway, I had better go. Hope you all have a good day.

Report
RobinSparkles · 14/03/2013 11:18

Blizy your last post sounds so down. I hope you're ok, lovely. It sucks when you lose a mindee - they become like part of the family almost. I hope you find another soon. My SIL is looking for a CM, if we were nearer I'd send her your way! :(

I haven't got anything interesting to report. The guys doing the garden are starting to do my head in. I can't wait till they've finished!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Report
reastie · 14/03/2013 11:42

So Robin how are you organising tea and biscuits for the gardeners then? Wink

blizy that's rubbish about your mindee. What jobs are you looking into?

Report
RobinSparkles · 14/03/2013 14:23

Pfft, Reastie, they work like they're on a go slow, tbh! The thinking of "offer them lots of brews/be nice to them and they'll do a better job" as someone suggested on the other thread hasn't worked. :( They haven't put the weed blocker down (that black sheet thingy, I forget what it's called) so when weeds come through they'll probably come through the paving that they've done. They did the block paving wrong to begin with and DH had to, politely, ask them to re-do it.
I've been offering them drinks every hour, although I haven't made them a single one today because I've been at school all morning and the last couple of times I've asked they haven't wanted one.

Hi all,

Grin at all the banana stories, A doesn;t care how its peeled as she just eats a mouthful then hides it somewhere for me to find later Hmm

american hows the ear? Ear infections are so painful, I feel for you (and you Robin!)

blizy I;m ok thanks, plodding on! Have got back in touch with cruse as I think it might be good for me, I am still feeling down alternating with feeling very pissed off (irrationally so!) How are you? Fancy moving to Nottingham so you can have A as your new mindee? Wink

Shock at you lot doing the shred, I am impressed. You have nearly motivated me enough to do it - nearly!

Apparently A has to wear something red to nursery tomorrow for red nose day, she only has a stripey red and white top so that'll have to do, now if it was pink that would be no problem... The "I want, I want" is still continuing, whenever we get home from nursery now her first words are "I want treat!" Hmm

Hi everyone. Sorry I've been rubbish and stayed off here for ages, poor show. Not much is happening here, just tootling along, cassia is still a nutcase and sends me insane. Took her for her 2 year review on weds and she weighed in at16. 5 kilos... Hv mentioned portion control the cheeky cow. My older 2 are skinny things so I blame DP.... Speaking of, I have seen a couple of you saying you think about being single sometimes. DP and I are not getting on at all ATM. Everything he does gets on my nerves, and the differences in our personalities are starting to tell. Not sure how to fix things :( but enough of my whinging.
blizy good luck with mindee hunt x
ems it's a shame your mum is that way, agree with wiggs really. You can't change your mum but maybe you could try talking to someone about it. It might help. I think it's hard as mother daughter relationships are sold as the be all and end all, like basically you're expected to be best friends with your mum if you believe the media....which would be great, but in reality it can be so different. I have many issues with my mum but I have kind of learned to expect nothing, then when she does do something nice I really appreciate it.
ledkr how we're the races?
robin yay to shredding! Well done :) and to reastie for being a gym bunny! big hellos to everyone, better go and tidy up, hoping for a nice peaceful weekend for everyone x

Mizk how rubbish re: you and DP not getting along, hope it's just a little blip. Can't offer any advice at all I'm afraid but will listen if you want to moan about him talk about it. I had Alice's 2 yr check yesterday and they told me Alice shouldn't get any heavier than her currently centile (she's 9th for height and 75th for weight) and I need to weigh her every couple of months and go and see them if she does go into a higher centile bracket and gave me a leaflet about healthy eating Blush Confused . It made me feel like an awful parent although they didn't mean to. I'm quite strict about what she eats I think and always offer her healthy stuff which she always refuses to eat

ponyo Alice doesn't have a huge amount of red clothes either, she's all about pink Wink

PIL looked after Alice and apparently MIL is still reeling from my genius child who picked up the fridge magnet letter 'm' and gave it to her saying 'm for mummy' [proud] she seems far more excited than I was Blush

ledkr Hope your racing days are successful, would have passed on any tips but am afraid my fil bookie is on holiday - pils are living it up on the Algarve Envy

blizy that's shite about mindee moving on, fingers crossed it works out.

reastie and MizK I don't think we bother with 2 year old checks, I can't remember doing them with the other 2. God I hope not - Anna has several favourite activities at the minute - blowing raspberries and asking has everyone done a poo?are the ones I experience the most Blush

Bank holiday weekend here - yippee, Mr W working all weekend, so me and the girls are just faffing about hoping the weather stays dry.
