L will not eat vegetables alone, they have to be mixed with something like soup or a casserole. And small enough pieces that he doesn't notice them. Tortilla soup and bean chilli have been very popular lately and I add extra veggies. I think you just have to keep offering normal food and not make a fuss.

We've been rather stingy with L's presents this year (again). Just a couple of Melissa & Doug play food sets, an apron I made, Elmo pyjamas and a book. He's going to get loads from our families because he's the only grandchild, fortunately both my mum and sister asked if their gifts were OK since they know I don't want him to get too much for Christmas. We're off tomorrow, have three family Christmases Shock to get through.

reastie - happy birthday, hope the apocalypse doesn't ruin your special day. Grin

DH and I spent 20 minutes digging the car out this morning - the snow was up to the number plate on the back. The weather service says we had 20 inches of snow yesterday. Shock I drove DH to work this morning and the roads are still treacherous, buses aren't running again today. And it's bloody cold.

ledkr · 21/12/2012 19:33

One thing after five dc is that I don't fret about food. D eats what she eats and that's that. I buy a couple of those cow and gate meals in case she fasts for too long. She doesn't eat breakfast has a bottle and a banana later and rarely some porridge. Eats well at lunch either soup or pasta then dinner is hit and miss plus yogurts. She hates bread or cake but likes chocolate and lots of fruit, grapes, blueberries and satsumas. Reading that I guess it sounds good but last night we had fish and chips and she are about two chips and a mouthful of chips.

ILovePonyo · 21/12/2012 21:23

Ah ledkr D sounds similar to A too, she's not bothered about bread either. She got really excited about chips earlier today but then ate 2 and said "no, don't 'ike chips". (yes she does!)

so A fell asleep at about 1.30 today and woke at 5 Shock then went to bed about half 7. BUT when she woke up she had a really gunky eye, am really hoping its not conjunctivitus...

american the weather sounds like a nightmare your way, hope you are nice and warm inside! I am sneaking extra veg into pasta sauce but you're right, I need to just not fuss about it.

ledkr · 21/12/2012 21:59

D has just had conjunctivitis cleared it with saline bathing.
Well d has gone to bed without any acrobatics wrapped in my jumper. I'm enjoying some Xmas cheers now praying it lasts.
Re food. D doesn't eat much veg sat on a plate but I still mash it up I can put a roast in front of her and she won't touch it so I Mash it and she scoffs it. Lazy I'd say.

blizy · 21/12/2012 22:15

Hi all, sorry for going AWOL. Still no news and still no AF. I have far too much going on in RL at the min, I don't really want to post on here about it.
I have however been totally blown away by the kindness and generosity of MN'ers. I was nominated for the Christmas appeal and yesterday and today have received the most wonderful presents. I am very humbled by it all.

Happy birthday reastie, hope you had a fantastic day! Thanks

wigglesrock · 21/12/2012 22:22

Just a quick hello

Reastie Happy Birthday Grin

Anna too is a funny wee eater - she could easily skip breakfast but will eat tined peaches until the cows come home, so in the morning she has peaches and yogurt but not in the same bowl Shock, oh no that would be "dirtsgusting"

She would live on cooked chicken, lasagne, anything mince based and pasta but only if its all covereed in tomato sauce passata Grin I too don't stress about it - both O and S were the same.

emski I was wondering how you are doing?

Will update tomorrow after the festive, female, family lunch (better get used to all the f words now) Grin

wigglesrock · 21/12/2012 22:24

Oh x posted hello blizy Grin Hope real life is treating you ok xxxxx

ledkr · 21/12/2012 22:39

blizy hope it's bearable honey. Pm one if us if you need to xx I saw you had been nominated and was pissed off I didn't nominate you. You deserve it. I always think of you and Zoe when life fed shit. It helps me keep perspective.
wiggs I'd so love to come to your ladies lunch. How I love women together. On the 28th I am having all my female friends for a day of karaoke and turkey sarnies. It will be raucous and drunken and I can't wait.
D prefers tomato based meals too especially tomato soup which she eats very carefully so as to not spill a drop.

reastie · 22/12/2012 06:29

Blizy I hope the RL stuff going on is OK. What did you get from your MN secret santa?

It's funny you speak of the babies liking pasta and tomato sauce - Alice won't touch pasta or tomato sauce (apart from pizza) ! SHe won't eat anything with a sauce excpet ketchup and won't eat potatoes in any form now, even chips Hmm . My trick which works sometimes is to make a pizza for her and make the tomato bit and puree veg into it -and then get her to spread that and the cheese on top of the pizza herself. It works more often than it doesn't and at least she'll eat something with vegetables in.

We've gone a bit overboard on Alice christmas presents this year after buying her practically nothing last year Blush .

Can't sleep tonight as my grandad was rushed to hospital with pneumonia a couple of days ago and last night DM rang and was dashing up to the hospital as he had taken a turn for the worse and she didn't know if she would make it in time Confused . I have no idea what's happened overnight but don't want to disturb Mum by ringing so early.

Emski76 · 22/12/2012 06:47

Hi all
Blizy please feel free to talk about anything you need to on here, if you feel able. Your gifts from mn sound lovely. What a nice surprise.

Noah has just started becoming fussy about food but I am kind of whatever about it tho he doesn't get dessert if he hasn't eaten much of his main and has thrown a few hissy fits over it. I remember with Ben I used to make a spag Bol sauce filled with veggies and he had no clue and would scoff it down! Noah's quite good wih fruit and will eat peas. Both boys love grapes. Noah seems to like whole, separate food,so lasagne etc is not loved, he loves sausages tho! Funny thing he does tho is puts a forkful of food into his mouth then spits it out if he sees something's else he prefers, dirty child.

I shaved all his hair off yest in a moment of madness and am so upset about it. I used dh's bea trimmer and had the setting on too high, did two strokes with and ended up with bold patches so I had to shave the rest off then rang dh in tears. Strange tho that my biggest fear is what dh's family will think!!

Reastie, i hope your grandad, and your mum, are ok. I too have bought the boys way too much for Xmas. I tend to get a bit carried away!

I would like an invite to Wiggles and Ledkrs Xmas swarays please!

Wiggles, thanks for asking, have been feeling pretty dreadful, very dizzy and extremely short tempered and teary but do think that I turned a corner yesterday. The poor boys have borne the brunt of it. I sat Ben down in the end and explained the mummy's not feeling too well so may shout more and feel a bit sad but that it was nothing to do its what he's done (even tho he can be evil at the moment). I'm o bloody worried all the time that I'm going to mess up the boys that I think I then end up so stressed out with it all!! My friend suggested Bachs Remedy so may take a look at that.

Well, good morning and love to all. Catch y'all later

ledkr · 22/12/2012 08:47

reastie hope gd is ok. Poor guy. D has a lot too but only cos Ella will be wondering what Santa is playing at if she doesn't. She has beppa big buggy and scooter and lots if little stuff too.
ems Ella doesn't like mixed foods. She has to have crumble in one bowl and custard in another then looks at us as if we are insane when we eat ours together.
Sorry you not great. I've been off my tabs for ages now as I realised they weren't helping as I have pmt. I have had great success using high dose b6 and vitamin d I also use a period app to monitor my moods then warn everyone and avoid stressful situations.
It was funny cos when I went to Disney I had a different memory of it from when I went when d was four months.
I found some if the roller coasters scarier than before so think my pnd must have numbed my feelings before. How weird is that?

tadjennyp · 24/12/2012 00:59

Just wishing everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Hoping everyone's health is tip-top, the turkey tastes great and everyone gets a bit of me time to enjoy the new presents! Hope the little ones get some sleep too. Best wishes. X

debka · 29/12/2012 14:21

Hello everyone!

Happy birthday lovely reastie. Hope all Alice's things turned up. How is your Grandad now? Pneumonia can be very nasty when you're older.

blizy cd64???!! Everything is crossed for you my love. Hope all is well in RL for you xxx

ledkr sleep issues sound bloody awful, you have one spirited DD! Would also love to gatecrash your party!

wiggles how are you and your lovely girls and the heavenly MrW?

ponyo is A's eye better now? Hope she's sleeping better too.

Re food I'm with ledkr, just don't worry about it, offer them a healthy selection, ;et them eat what they want. Mine love soup so we had vegetable soup today to make up for all the shit festive treats they've been living on eating occasionally.

reastie · 29/12/2012 18:10

Hi everyone,

Well, sadly GD died before Christmas :( So it was a nice but slightly upsetting Christmas for us. Funeral is in a couple of weeks.

Deb great to hear from you. I actually got Alice to eat fruit today but made fish cakes with her helping and she refused to eat them for dinner

Blizy so come on, any AF update?

Hope you all had a lovely christmas. We had to spend boxing day organising Alices playroom as she has too many toys for it Blush . We also got out from the loft some stashed clothes in age 2-3 I didn't realise we had many of which were my old clothes so she will be very vintage ddaahhhlliinnnggg next year. It's a pity I'd been so organised and already bought her a whole age 2-3 wardrobe though - I think she'll end out with a different outfit for each day of the year in 2013 Blush Blush

blizy · 29/12/2012 19:23

Oh reastie, so sorry to hear about your gd. I hope you are doing ok?

Big waves to debka, I've missed your chat!

Recounted my cycle today and I'm actually on cd 70! We have the dr on Monday.

I had a very quiet Christmas, tbh I've not been feeling the best. We just found out today that one of our friends is pg again, their little one is. Few weeks older than Zoe. It just makes me so sad that its not us. I then feel terribly guilty for feeling this way.

reastie · 29/12/2012 19:32

Blizy please don't feel guilty, it's completely natural to feel like that I would imagine, well, I know I would feel exactly the same. You shouldn't feel embarrassed or ashamed about it

wigglesrock · 29/12/2012 20:22

blizy that must feel very unfair, don't worry about feeling guilty, you feel sad.

reastie sorry about your Grandad, Grin at As clothes, we're a bit like that this year re the toys, only I can't get things put away because of bil and sil staying.

Hello debka how you diddly doing?

I love bil and sil but God a week is a long time to have people staying with you, especially such earnest people. I mean they are lovely and caring but a little po faced and I will just swear and let this out just once because I have to EATING DINNER AT 7.30pm IS NOT LATE, HAVE AS MANY EARLY BIRD SPECIALS AS YOU WANT WHEN YOU GET HOME BUT I DON'T DO DINNER AT 5.30pm - I'M NOT 65 and breathe Grin

Oh I feel better and a bit grinchy Blush

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas xxxxxx

ILovePonyo · 29/12/2012 21:04

Hello all, quick post on my phone bcos I left my laptop at my mums, how annoying.

Blizy agree with reastie, don't feel guilty, it's completely normal to feel how you do, especially as you've just had Xmas which is a lot to deal with. I remember thinking it was hugely unfair when I was ttc especially when people who already had a child got pg, I knew I shouldn't think like that but couldn't help it, it hurts doesn't it. Hugs x x

Reastie so sorry to hear about your gdad. Hope it was peaceful for him and good luck for the funeral, it will be hard but you will get through it (hugs too)

Wigs and deb hiya!!

Well it nice at Xmas but I was glad to get home, my sisters fecking dog was a bit snappy at A, only once but it's a big dog so I was keeping them apart constantly. A got spoiled and loved her presents Smile
Best news of all, she started sleeping ShockShock She has done until roughly 7.45 every morning, how bloody great is that?! Hope this doesn't sound like a boast but after weeks of 5am starts I feel joyous Grin
She is also much better including gunky eye, and generally happier and cheekier so am hoping it lasts Smile

Pil coming tomo... Happy new year everyone!
