btw..is anyone slowly realising how much baby proofing they need to do around the house? we have loads of heavy pictures, stairs, climable surfaces etc and a sunken bath which i can envisage would lead to at least one nasty accident..we also have solid wood floors but dp and his dad fitted them and there are small cracks inbetween them which would be nasty to crawl on!
not sure what to do really as we are considering moving soon anyway...guess theres time before he starts scooting around...

ChaCha · 06/03/2006 15:24

WoW, caught up with you all today! That's a first!

BoB - I must have missed your website link. What is it again, would love to have a look.

Just having a look at the new photos on our yahoo group but the LO is sat on his chair exploding away..yesterday I had to bath him ten minutes before going out as he was covered from head to toe only half hour after having bath no.1...

I'll be back!

babyonboard · 06/03/2006 15:26

chacha - I didn't post it on here, i'll put it in the yahoo group so i know only you ladies will see it!lol..
glad to be hearing more from you these days! hope DS is doing fine..

tex111 · 06/03/2006 15:39

You guys!! Just reading other thread and thinkig "it's been a bit quiet, maybe I can catch up..." Then saw this thread. Grin

Busy, just emailed you for invite to Yahoo group. I'm dying to see all the pics.

OK, now going to try to actually catch up. DH in Bermuda this week with 'work'. I keep teasing him about holding meetings on the beach but he swears he'll be working hard. Anyway, will give me some nice, quiet evenings for lots of MNing (if children cooperate!).

tex111 · 06/03/2006 15:43

BoB, must admit I did a Demi and had a nude pregnancy portrait done. I imagined I would look all lush and fecund but ended up more Discovery Channel nature programme "..and here we have the native Texan in her eighth month of gestation. Approach her slowly and with great caution..."

babyonboard · 06/03/2006 15:55

tex...i literally almost wet myself with laughing at that..(note to self.actually get round to doing those kegels!)
bet they were great really..i'm very Envy

Londoner · 06/03/2006 16:12

Me too Tex! LOL hilarious woman!
BoB - thanks for comps on my bunch, they certainly melt my heart every dayGrin, and yes the boys do play guitar and also bass, but are self taught... we've always played a lot of music in this house, all genres....they use 'tab world' websites for playing others' songs but also do their own stuff, their bedroom looks more like a recording studio at times with amps and keybords etc lying around!Loved your pics of you, dp and Oskar-gorgeous.

ChaCha · 06/03/2006 16:17

Z has just fallen asleep in his chair..yipeee!

BoB - Website is fab! Love it. Oskar is a very handsome chappy :)

I've followed suit and am trying to update our folder. I put some pics of me on last time but DH said they weren't v.nice, they're the only ones I have unfortunately where I don't look so ill. I took these on Nova's advice at 38weeks.

Have a super busy week which involves a lot of cooking and of course the aftermath! Have relatives arriving at weekend too. Hope to catch up again, has been nice to be able to.

Love M x

BEKsmum · 06/03/2006 16:41

Hi girls,

Tex a week on your owwn, you're very brave, hope your dh will be bringing you something very nice back - especially after the couple of weeks you've had. How are Toby & Rosie? Are they over the worst? Lol at your discovery channel commentary Grin

Candi Bob, Londoner, Tex & I are meeting up in Greenwich Park on Thursday, why don't you join us?

Diege, well done on doing the Davina, I really like that workout and got quite into it before I fell for Thomas, now just have to motivate myself back on to it - another couple of weeks or so slobbing on the sofa should do it Grin

By the way your excuses about body size didn't wash unless your 2ft tall that is Grin Grin

What is it with people in supermarkets, do child free women think it's there domain or something. Golden, you're a better woman than me 'cos I would have run into that woman and then politeluy apologised with a sugar sweet smile Grin

Bob we got the giraffes too - Ben loves them so keeps wandering off to bed with them!

Karma, hope your dp told you I called and that you enjoyed your sleep - I was very jealous!!! Will try to catch up with you at some time this week though.

Took Thomas to get him weighted today = 16lb 10oz little chunkster. He was happily playing on his activity mat but is now getting grumpy so I had better go and play with him as he's been in and out of the car seat and buggy all day today. Then I'm off to burn the dinner - I've managed that 3 times in the last 7 deay Grin

Hope you all well, Beks

Busyalexsmummy · 06/03/2006 18:39

Is anyone doing memory/keepsake boxes, i am doing one for both the boys, have got some things in both, just wanted to know if anyone can think of things to go in them as ive run out of ideas but i expect theres something ovious(sp?) ive missed......?

OP posts:
Busyalexsmummy · 06/03/2006 18:41

Talking of keeping/getting fit too, does anyone else do step aerobics? I used to go to a class every week a cpl of yrs ago and bought my own step just before falling pregnant with ds2, want to get on and use it now but cant find any music for it-i can remeber some steps but not many but the dvds/music for SA all seem quite old fashioned, anyone know of a nice, upbeat modern one?

OP posts:
babyonboard · 06/03/2006 18:42

chacha..love the pic called 'contemplating life' it's the best when you catch them in such a way.
like my gran says 'babies aren't bloody stupid love..don't listen to whet them doctors and psychos say'
hhaha..bless her..
londoner..bet you'll be chasing girls away from the door in a few years with your hndsome rockstar boys

oskr has been asleep for so so long...it's unlike him, usully daytime is for playing, chatting, looking round on trips out, with a 2/3 hour nap in the fternoon but he's slept the whole time today..
don't wnt to wake him for his bth which is normlly right now..
wht do you guys on gina-esque routines do? surely you don't wake a sleeping baby because it's bath/nap/feed' time?

and btw ..glad to hear others got giraffess too..lol

babyonboard · 06/03/2006 18:58

busy..mine is pretty dire..we've got hospital bracelets, first outfit (so amazingly tiny now!sob...), a 'spreadsheet' type of form from hospital with time of birth, weight apgar and condensed labour notes etc, footprint at 1, 8 and 12 weeks (someone please tell me how to get a baby to do a handprint!?)and also the post-its DP was writing my contractions down on (as if oskar will care..but I still love to look at them..especially the sidenotes ..i.e 3pm run bath, is this it?!?!.... 5pm dash out for ribena for labour bag..8pm order pizza, lots of veg, no cheese (mummy worried about being sick)..9pm call our mums, baby will be here soon... lol!...

..not sure whatelse to add!

my mum has pics that i drew for her on a newspaper when visitng her and my little bro in hospital and gets teary whenever she brings them out...

ChaCha · 06/03/2006 19:25

Keepsake boxes are a lovely idea, DH started one but it only has some of his hair, cord clip and the hospital bands in it as far as I know. Am interested to read what other suggestions there are.

BoB - Your nan is right. When looking at the LO, my mum always says 'Ahh..You've been here before mister, you're not daft' This is fine until I look up/behind to see what he's laughing/staring at only to look back at him to find him staring at me! Remember the nephew 'Damien' in Only Fools & Horses? LOL.

BoB - Which LM products are your favs? I find the lavendar a tad strong but is sometimes nice before bed. My favourite seems to be the pink stuff (rose, neroli etc.) What about you? Also find the eco baby stuff really nice and gentle.

Nova - Any gas?

Well, i will call it a day and go and get his bath ready. Was really good to be able to post as much and read all your news today.

novadandypowder · 06/03/2006 19:29

ok, can I be really annoyingly anal??

In the Yahoo Group you can add to the photo albums without having to start a new one. There are a few now with two albums, and (in a completely self absorbed way) they've pushed mine (and Rodeos) onto another page. I just think it would be easier if all our pics were in one album only. Sorry - it's not even my group, but I have to say it Blush.

Re: keep sake box - we have all the cards we were sent, a newspaper from the day she was born, the top ten CD's from the day she was born, a plaster cast of her hand & foot from about 12wks old, hospital bands, hospital notes which include a footprint of her at a few mins old. Eventually we'll have her baby book to add, her first xmas present and her first birthday present. Should have added her first outfit, but it's all packed away now in the storage space.

Just found out close friends of DH's have to terminate their twins this week Sad Sad. They went for their 20wk scan and they discovered loads of problems due to twin to twin transfer. Further tests have confirmed that one is already brain dead and the other won't make it either. It's just too too horrible to think about Sad Sad

beartime · 06/03/2006 19:31

Londoner - you say if it doesn't pass you know its weaning time - but all the bf people seem to say weaning doesn't make a difference to night waking.. I'm confuzzled now Smile I do like your idea of just bfing whatever though. I know when he had a cold and I bfed in the night (and did nasal aspirator to DH's horror Grin) it really helped.

BoB I couldn't have looked that good pregnant with all the effort in the world! My bump was too out of proportion with the rest of me and my face was massive! And as for baby proofing - don't even know what to look for - lol. Sunken bath???

Busy - am doing a memory box, but just shoving things in as they come - no initiative or thinking involved Grin so far has baby shower list of gifts, cards sent, scan, photocopied labour notes and that's it - not very imaginative!

BoB - I'm ALWAYS waking my baby - and he never minds! I'd say its the key to the routine working Grin I tried the handprint thing today with a polyfilla style thing someone gave us - was a DISASTER.

novadandypowder · 06/03/2006 19:31

Yes - we have gas! They turned it back on about 8pm last night, but they're still digging up the road outside our house to try and find out where the water is coming from. I personally blame the new neighbours with all their building work Wink.

And finally - I did NOT have all my hair cut off, which I am very glad about Grin

Rodeo · 06/03/2006 19:52

Oh God Nova, that's awful :( Can't bear to think what they must be going through.

Jess has a copy of Grazia dated 10 Oct for her box (I think Kate Moss is on the front after the fall out from her 'scandal'!), first vest, a first size nappy (unused!), cards & bands, I think that's it....I threw away her cord clamp - too disgusting to be kept!

Nova, what was number 1 when our pair were born??

Chacha, I'm with you on Pink Little me stuff, it's lovely. I do love the lavender and dill bath milk though.

I tried step a couple of weeks ago but it killed my leg so I've started swimming instead. Thursday night is now swim night!

I'm out riding in the morning and cannot wait! I'm so excited! My friend's horse Napoleon is really fit so can only go a day or so without exercise or he goes stir crazy, so she's keen to get me to take some of the load off as she's finishing her degree and working. Hoping to take him out once or twice a week so we shall see! I hope I can fit into my jodphurs, god, that's a thought.....

browniechick · 06/03/2006 20:33

Hi, just a quickie before signing off and going to watch Rebus! Hope all are ok - Nova - glad you now have gas & lo can now have a bath!!!! Grin

Have finally got round to adding some photos to the Yahoo group! Was a bit reluctant at first - but am feeling reassured cos it is a secure group - was worried cos of some of those nasty pastys about. Sad Did you here on the news about the 11 year old girl in the Supermarket Toilets? That happened in a town about 10 miles away from me- god there are some sick people around.

Anyway on that note - am going to go before I start to dwell on the nastiness in the world.

Godbless to all of you
Brownie & Thomas
x

JenJam · 06/03/2006 20:49

Ooh a nice new thread.

sharonTW how are you - you're a brave lady having a new one refashioned - i feel for you, and hope you are recovering well.

oh nova - your poor DH's friends. that is truly awful.

i'm guilty of creating a new pics folder. Will see if i can combine the two - I got an error message when i clicked edit existing folder, and i'm an impatient bugger. Think having albums on two pages will be inevitable.

BTW lovely piccies everyone. The babies are becoming cuter by the day - they are gorgeous. Rodeo nice to see you at last - you are nothing like i imagined - I imagined dark brown hair - don't know where i got that from! have included a couple of photos of me pre and post birth - not very flattering but might make you smile

i left finn at the gym creche today for 40 mins -and not one tear or grumble!! hardest bit was trying to get there on time (I didn't even though I allowed 3 hours from waking....!) had a lovely coffee and read the paper instead. i'm not going to get fit anytime soon if i keep that up. going to give davina a whirl too.

I'm jealous of you lot with washing lines, we hang out stuff on radiators (and I hate hate hate that - so messy!)

right DP home at last and given that i just moaned my butt off about how he should make it a priority to get home earlier, think i had better get off mn. what time do your dps get home?

tomorrow is lazy day i have only hippo babies 1.30-3 pm, so will chat more then.

JenJam · 06/03/2006 20:52

i see someone has merged the two folders for me -thanks how did you do that?

ChaCha · 06/03/2006 21:11

Sneaking on with a much needed cup of tea before the thud comes from upstairs (cannot hear my name being called or baby's cry due to utilities, radio etc..) Wink

Wish I'd thought of the newspaper from that day idea, fantastic! Don't think I even knew what day it was looking back but wonder if I could still get a hold of one. What newspaper did you choose and why? Tabloid or broadsheet?

Nova - So sorry to hear that bad news :( Can't imagine what they must be going through.

Browniechick - Terrible! Hadn't heard about it though, makes you sick doesn't it? I heard something about a 6 year old girl who was taken from her home while in the bath (couple of months back) but never heard more about it. I was completely shocked!

Nova - Just an idea. Why don't you and Rodeo change your folders name to a letter starting nearer the beginning of the alphabet? That way you'd be on the first page :) Priorities given to oldies (from ante-natal thread not age) I don't mind being kicked over onto page 2, am not planning to leave the pics on for long as I'd like to update them soon.

I need to lose weight big time. Day to days seem to be revolved around cups of tea and chocolate, biscuits, etc.. anyone want to start with me? Blush We could have a weigh in each week and motivate each other - anyone? Blush
Also, recommed a DVD pls? One to work out in front of not to pig out in front of!

V.pleased that i've been able to post and remember what everyone has said :)

goldenoldie · 06/03/2006 21:21

Nova - dreadful news about your friends twins.

ChaCha - I need to lose weight too. I dropped a stone quickly, but since then the scales have not budged, and I've been good. What sort of diet are you thinking of doing?

Took the boys to the Toy Library today - as usual they slept through it, but it was nice to meet some more local mums.

DS1 & the DTs & DH all have the lurgy now. Chesty cough, runny nose, ache all over and temp. Looks like the DTs will miss innoculations this week - I'll wait till they are 100% again.

Diege · 06/03/2006 21:54

Evening!! Smile. Lost 21bs at SW, so feeling pleased, though now feeling VERY sick, due to whole garlic baguette, cream egg, bueno bar, giant choc chip cookie - as a little reward..Blush. I will NEVER do it again!!!!!!!
Lots to catch up on! We have memory bixes for the girls, but inevitably perhaps, I just shove things in with the thought of sorting them out properly later on. Libby has usual stuff, inc. newspaper from her birth day (our usual), and a selection of cards we received. Sure I have a Nov mag somewhere too!(spmething likt Heat would be funGrin_
BOB: yes, I wake Libby for feeds, or if she has had 'enough' of a sleep.Seems mad I know, but with Gina what you lose, you gain later (so you are virtually guaranteed a 2.5 hour nap at lunch, if they only have 45 mins in morning Suits us anyway Smile!
Really feel for your friend NOVA. A friend of mine went through the same thing 2 years ago (with twin-to-twin tranfusion too), and had to terminate at about the same time as your's. She has a little boy now, but of course has never got over it Sad.
CHACHA: yes, let's do a weekly weigh-in (no cheating!). Re: good DVD, I'd say Davinia's 'power of 3', as you can choose to do one each time, and 30 mins doesn't seem too bad (until you do it!). I would NOT recommend Pacha dance, just becaise it's so slooowww at getting going; not good when you have limited time, plus who wants to look at perfect bodies in g-strings Grin. You can;t beat Davinia I say Grin.
JENJAM: good for you getting to gym today, and for trying put the creche Smile. RODEO: enjoy your horseriding tommorow! Am v.jealous.Use to ride a lot when younger, and it's still my dream to have my own horse.
Right, off to bed now with tummy ache Sad,
night all
Diege x

Busyalexsmummy · 06/03/2006 22:04

Nova-have dealt with it and put peoples pics in their original albums. Can people only start a new album once your first is full please, this way, other peoples albums dont get lost and its easier to see whos who, cheersGrin

rodeo-even after deleting albums yours is still on the other page, there isnt any option to shuffle them round, theyre in alphabetical order....

browniechick-Rest assured, the yahoo group was started by myself(been on Nov thread since about 5/6 weeks pregnant) , is only for Nov Mnrs and is invitation only

In the boys keepsake boxes Ive put ds1's- scan pics, wrist bands, labour summary, cord clamp(cleaned)Wink first xmas bouble, first outfit he wore, first bootees, some confetti from his first xmas cracker, some table confetti from his christening, the ribbons off the side of his christening cake, his first curl from his first haircut,a photo of when i was pregnant with him, some 2004 dated money
think thats it....? ds2's so far has cord clamp, bands, scan pics, first outfit, hossie cot label, pic of me pregnant with him......thats it so far.....
Being boys, im sure they wont care one bit about them in years to come, theyre more for my sake so I can keep them and look back through them and remember when they were small........sad eh?!

RODEO-dead Envy of you going riding tomorrow, I have ridden since knee high to a grasshopper, stopped riding when I was 17 and havent ridden since due to pregnancies/kids/time/money. I used to have a palimino called pinocchio then a skewbald cob called mauve! I miss the cob, she was lush, I loved her to bits! I would like to go riding this summer, even be it for just a 2hr pub ride or something, I miss it so much as I went from every day in the saddle to nothing...Sad, anyhow, hope you have a great time and it would be great for it to be a regular thing wouldnt it, lucky you!Smile

right, off to do a bit more ebaying!Wink
