babyonboard · 21/03/2006 11:54

If anyone sees this before 2pm..opinion please..

when i go to the clinic for O's jabs, do i keep quiet about my black eye and limp and let the health visitor think what she likes..
or explain i did it falling over my trousers, and no, I wasn't drunk at the time..
lol..

novadandypowder · 21/03/2006 12:12

BoB - don't mention it unless you feel you have to - give them something to gossip about on their tea break Wink

Diege · 21/03/2006 12:32

LOL RODEO at your sister's fall Grin!!Bet the motorists had a good laugh! Your bruise sounds painful! Thanks for finalising our arrangements on yahoo! Must be careful not to mention it on here, after all that (nearly didShock)!!!
Yes, agree with GOLDEN, come on NOVA, give us a name Grin!!
LONDONER: hope all is going well with sick children? How long is it again till bedtime??Grin? Scarlett is driving me MAD, but haven't shouted yet Smile. She's saying at this moment 'I want you to turn it off mummy....press it then mummy....'. Arghhhh!!!!

Diege · 21/03/2006 12:34

Yeah, agree with NOVA BOB - let them do the asking! (in fact, if you start off explaining, they might think you're making it up anyway to disguise something more sinister IYKWIM!!!)

babyonboard · 21/03/2006 13:26

lol..just what i thought nova..might brighten their day having something to speculate on..hehehe

diege..hope you are coping!

novadandypowder · 21/03/2006 13:37

..or just flinch whenever they go near you - lol!!!

no name dropping I'm afraid, you never know who's watching...

..and, the suggested place for the London meet up has my vote - it's a bit lacking in atmosphere but as you say has ample room and is easy to get to Grin

Diege · 21/03/2006 13:50

Blush just alerting you to my botched attempt to send reply on yahoo e-mail - it's at end of Rodeo's message rather than beginning (and you wonder why I'm the only one not to manage to post photos yet Blush.

babyonboard · 21/03/2006 15:10

hi all...what a waste of time!
no jabs as they were understaffed..couldn't be bothered to queue to have him weighed and chat to the h.v so just came straight home..

made it somewhat worthwhile by picking up a limencello cake from sainsburys though...yummmm yummm

babyonboard · 21/03/2006 16:03

could we maybe start a nov. ladies weaning thread..as we'll all be doing it around the same time, and i personally would rather be sharing it with you guys who I know are always friendly..or is tht just too cliquey?!

Rodeo · 21/03/2006 16:46

Afternoon :)

Back from the school run. Been to toddler group and the boys were ready to kill each other! Not sure what had got into them (Haribos perhaps? Wink)

Oooh I'm going to be unbearable on the run up for London I'm excited already :) Just remembered when we met up in Sheffield I only just stopped myself lunging forward to kiss Diege Blush So I if I do the same in London it's only because I'm happy to meet you all!

Right J is wailing, better go :/

Londoner · 21/03/2006 16:53

Thanks for the comments on Skype Golden and BoB,

Rodeo, love your travel storiesSmile.

BoB, d'you mean a weaning thread in post-natal/weaning/Yahoo? You could start it off by telling us how O liked his limoncello cake Wink..... Can't believe how they let you down at the clinic btw, had you booked? Such an anti-climax when that happens.

Children are going into overdrive now. Dd1 is full of beans and says she is all better...... ds has been v.poorly all day but is now v.perky (Calpol remission) and making a racket with dd..... in between requesting things like hot water bottles over the intercom, as he is in our bed.......... unlike you Diege, I am not looking forward to the evening time as this is when the illness/temperature usually kicks in again in a big way....... fastening my seatbelt right now........... here we go. Hope you have a peaceful night Diege.

babyonboard · 21/03/2006 17:09

lmao rodeo..dp is a haribo fanatic..it will be hard to stop O getting addicted when daddy 'uses' them to unwind after a hard days work...heeheee

and must say..when i met with tex recently I had to stop myself hugging her on greeting s it's wht i do normally with friends, but i guess not so normal with people you mainly know online..lol..

londoner..ooh not until after his dinner for the limoncllo ...tehee
with the weaning thread, i meant one under 'weaning ' on mumsnet where we can all share advice without it being lost in the reams of other news/chat on this thread

hope you cope tonight..maybe the calpol wil help them sleep well?
love the image of your ds in your bed taking advntage of the privelags the 'sick ' get...hhha
''mum...i need a hot water bottle now, and maybe you could shake out the duvet for me while you're here..''

browniechick · 21/03/2006 17:28

Hi All - thanks for comments on Ts Christening - it was a lovely day, and my Grandad got very emotional (always does when he has all of his family round him! Smile Sad) Will defo post some piccies on yahoo when have a good selection - have one of T gettint the water poured over his head at the font! will let you know when they are up.

Nova - am v intrigued by potential famous friends of yours! can you post on yahoo - so can put us all out of our misery, but can avoid potential lurkers on here? Just a thought.

Sorry to hear about more poorly little ones - Sad hope they all get better soon.

BoB - sorry to hear about your fall - hope knee gets back to normal size soon.
Rodeo - PMSL at the story about your sister! Don't mean to laugh at someone elses misfortune, but sometimes you just can't help yourself! Blush

Anyway, jsut a quick post from me - off to Brownies in a minute.

Brownie & Thomas

goldenoldie · 21/03/2006 17:59

Agree - great venue for the big North & South meet.

Took the DTs to the Tate Modern today. Another good venue for double-buggy drivers. Very baby friendly.

BOB - I love haribo too - not allowed any for the next year or so till I lose some weight.

babyonboard · 21/03/2006 18:04

oooh grrrrr.....
M.I.l just called to ask after the jabs..told her we didnt get them due to lack of staff and mentioned my fall..she then went on for ages asking if d.p was bating me..wtf..saying shes seen friends through it etc...and s usual she didn't listen to a word I said, just lead the converstion her way...
the converstion ended with me saying I needed to go get o's bottle and bath ready (just to get away)and her saying she'll have words with d.p later..grrr
so annoyed with myself for not thinking how she'd tke it out of all context and rationality and she will probbly phone and rant at him later....
so annoyd..mainly with myslf..but why is sh like that?

babyonboard · 21/03/2006 18:06

sorry for being so self centred...now really must go do bath and bottle..
will catch up tomorrow..
x

babyonboard · 21/03/2006 20:14

hi all..

Blush

Diege · 21/03/2006 20:17

BOB - what a nightmare!! Have to admit a conversation like that would totally throw me - her own son??? What does DP think of it all???!!!Shock.
LOL LOndoner at ds's antics; I can just imagine it Smile. Hoping you have a peaceful night. dd2 is tanked up with medicaid, so fingers crossed!
LOL RODEO about your failed lunge Grin; yes, it's a really odd this stranger/best buddie thing Grin. V.excited too about meet-up Smile.
Right, loads to do tonight after playing nurse all day!
Diege Smile

Diege · 21/03/2006 20:19

OOh Choccy orange!!! Does anyone else remember the Terry's chocoloate lemons they had years ago?

novadandypowder · 21/03/2006 20:47

chocolate lemons??? ooooo don't remember that one??

It really does feel like I'm the only one with a baby that cries. Took Nat to visit a couple of mums that I met at the post natal group so thankfully they were used to the fact she is, how you say 'spirited', but their babies were so well behaved, with not a murmur out of either of them. Nat meanwhile went into 'i want a nap' meltdown, followed by 'i'm not going to be happy unless i get your FULL attention' fussing. Glad we were at a house and not a cafe. The fools have arranged to do it all again in a couple of weeks.

I think the only problem with starting a thread on the weaning section is that other people will probably post their opinions on it. Whats wrong with posting on here? Nat is doing very well and ate all of her creamy pear today. I've got the Annabel Karmel book and it has an idiots guide in the back, with a table saying when and what you should be giving them. Helps me out no end as it means I don't have to think Wink

novadandypowder · 21/03/2006 20:54

...ooo and I decided to stop steralising bottles. Figured that she's shoving loads of stuff in her mouth anyway, and her food stuff I just put in the dishwasher, so I've just washed the bottles in hot soapy water and left them to dry.

Londoner · 21/03/2006 21:05

BoB, what a nightmare. Don't know what you can say to MIL really, maybe just forewarn your dp. There's nothing worse than having a black eye, apart from having a black eye and a baby, it's a nightmare isn't it I've been there when dd1 jumped up as I bent down to kiss her on the head and smack ... massive black eye......... a few years ago. Maybe you could borrow a pirate eye patch from O's dressing up boxGrin.
Nova, this Annabel woman sounds interesting, especially if she makes weaning feel easy, will have to look her up.
Diege, hope you don't have to stay up too late doing chores......

beartime · 21/03/2006 21:23

Sorry I just realised - asking about child tax credits, you're probably all thinking now, so THAT'S where my taxes go... Angry (like my dad!)

Londoner - thanks for the link Smile actually it made me feel better cos it says 9 out of 10 families with children can get it, so its not just me sponging Grin. I don't get why they give it out though, and child benefit - why do they give that out? Is that their way of encouraging us to have children or something? Yes we have friends in USA using Skype.

I'm hoping I'm about to ovulate Grin as had some faint spotting today and other stuff that I know you wouldn't want to hear about Grin

Oh hey I had an idea - if anyone ever wants to come to Ashford and meet up, I'm game! After all... it is Ashford International Smile and there's a eurolink from London too Grin And you could stop off on your way to Calais for the day... Oh and we have a designer outlet centre...

Careful BoB we might bid on your chair! Don't have a clue abt what's good or not tho - hoping someone else could tell me!

Busy - how's the feeding going? I think I've sussed what's the prob with mine - in the evenings I have less milk so it lets down slower, and if I'm tense it makes it even worse. And usually I';ve just cooked dinner and got indigestion eating it so I'm all stressed out, so if I relax my letdown gets faster and he's fine!

Rodeo - for some odd reason I thought you were bottle feeding! So you got a hicky? Wink I got one on my thumb the other day and added to the dry skin it really hurt!

Bob - I would like weaning thread as I'll prob have loads of qus but not intending to start till 6mths (hopefully...)

Diege · 21/03/2006 22:38

Just off to bed, but wanted to say that I would be happy to keep weaning chat on here, as it's something we will all be going through at 'roughly' the same time anyway (unlike, say, losing weight), and I bet we couldn't save it up for other stream as we will all be OBSESSED!!!(plus agree with NOVA that we would get 'strangers'popping in and giving their opinions (feeling strangely protective!). Just my opinion!
Have finished flexible working application, and cringed as I imagined my boss reading it Blush. Will send tommorrow, but feeling pretty nervous!
Night!
Diege Smile

beartime · 22/03/2006 07:17

I MIGHT come for the meetup as DH didn't make fun of me :) I still don't want to go on my own to howible London though Wink so only if I can persuade him to come and do some looking around Smile
