BTW, meant to add that what you write about meeting someone for the first time who you know so well is really bizarre. Remember when meeting RODEO we were chatting, and I mentioned my cat, to which she interjected, 'Big cat'!, to which I nearly jumped out of my skin and thought 'how the hell does she know that!!!' Really odd that we could all walk past each other on the street and not recognise each other, but be able to describe in vivid detail the other's piles/nipples/norks (BEAR'S!!)/lady gardens!!!!! Grin.

beartime · 20/03/2006 07:39

Rodeo - Sad a couple of mths after stopping! But I want to keep going at least a year! Yeah I had read that that's the case for some women and I'd even thought of stopping bfing at 6mths if af not back, but would so kick myself if I didn't get pg then! I'm just hopeful GrinThanks for the length of feed info - I was feeding him for abt 35 mins! So I paid a bit more attention rather than sticking my nose in my book and just putting hm back on when he popped off Blush. And I found that he really did only want abt 15 mins and I'd been forcefeeding him! No wonder he was spitting up so much!

Diege -here's hoping mine come back at 4mths too Grin

L&Smum - I'm a bit Envyof the meet up too but I hate London, don't want to go anywhere, and DH would think I was off my rocker to even want to meet anyone from the internet! Having said that, his brother just married someone from Russia who he'd met thry an internet dating site Shock

sorry abt all the spellings - am bfing!

Diege - the plus side of a plane that I've found is you can give them full on attention which may help Smile A GF friend - wow!

Karma - sorry at your brother's stroke. Heart disease s in DH's familytoo - tho they are all overweight Texans Grin - sorry Tex! My mum has breast cancer recently so I know there's a good chance I might get it.

Diege - what you say abt knowing all abt. eachother's stuff would def make me wary of meeting up. Even worse tho' -what if you found out that someone on here was someone who knows you really well but you didn't realise and had ben gabbing abt all this stuff you would never normally tell her! Blush

Diege · 20/03/2006 08:58

Morning! SmileWoke up at 1am to 'chunks' again in dd2s bed (too much party food, happens every time!). Just relieved tht she's OK this morning so that she can go to nursery Blush.
BEAR: I have quite an impulsive attitude to things in life, which isn't always good (remember me and Twinkle's phone numbers post Blush!!!), so the 'carrot' of meet-ups is more tempting than the stick (ie, that you're all axe murderers!)Grin. I've never really worried or thought too much about people knowing too much about me, as I'm the sort of person who will starts talking about intimate details 5 mins after meeting them (not good I know), but hey, I would tell all the stuff I say here to RL friends, and think of you all as 'real' friends anyway Smile.
Have LOADS to do today, not least flexible work application!!!!Arghhhh!!!
Speak later,
Diege Smile

Londoner · 20/03/2006 09:02

Hello allSmile,

oop, e's woken.....

Londoner · 20/03/2006 10:29

....okay, back again.....

That Anthea woman........ she's mad........

Know what you guys mean about meeting up with MN friends being strange... found it slightly confusing too..... looking forward to meeting up with you all on the 18th...... should we be discussing the finer points on here d'you think or by CAT/email? Or we might find outselves with a secret audience Blush[cloak and dagger emoticon]lol!
Beartime, get my af back 28 days to the letter after dropping the last feed I'm afraid.......
Karma - I'm sorry to hear about your brother, must be a really frightening thing to happen. Sounds like you have a close relationship which is lovely, being able to try and joke about the situation a bit. Do they know what caused it? Glad to hear things are going okayish with you, know what you mean about odd days, it must be very hard when you find yourself in a 'bad' day again. Ella sounds gorgeous. Thank you for the tip on the moses to cot situation, have run off and swapped her today all down to your suggestion, thank youSmile.
Diege, glad you had a good time in Wales. Not sure about the holiday, hmmm. I always think that you can make anything happen/do anything if you get into the right mind set. If you think everything through/rehearse potentially tricky situations in your head then you'll probably do just fine. I find a good tip for long journeys is to pack a bag with little things for the children which you give to them one at a time at intervals. Just little things to keep them amused like a small toy, or pen & paper.... but wrap each thing up (even in tin foil/newspaper)... a toy car...... I save cracker toys that get forgotten after five mintues and keep them stashed away for just such occasions and put them in my bag for restaurant/in law visits/journeys etc. Also, I take a variety pack of mini cereals, scissors and pint of milk and plastic spoons to give them breakfast at the airport..... you know how you can cut the top out of those little boxes and use them as a bowl? This always keeps them quiet for 10 mins or so while dh and I have a cup of tea and sit down in departure lounge and they behave well in anticipation of it......
BEKs, hope you're all feeling better this week?
Brownie, Thomas' christening sounds perfect, well done! How lovely for everyone that your Grandad could be there too. Yes, please post pics up for usSmile.
Rodeo, hope your car is fixed. I'm spring cleaning too, er, ahem, although I seem to be on MN don't I.... it's all getting done in my head!
Hi to everyone else too, must get on with 'stuff' now.......

Londoner · 20/03/2006 10:34

..Diege..... forgot to say, on the journey..... do not give them 'Haribo' on any account....... they will turn into Gremlins........

Rodeo · 20/03/2006 10:49

Morning!

With you on the Haribos Londoner - I can't let mine touch them or they actually do turn evil. Good travel tips BTW - can you really turn the boxes into bowls? Doesn't the milk leak out? That's brill, may just start doing that every morning! No breakfast pots Grin

Yes and you're right about meet-up details - we should post on our yahoo site :)

Good luck with the job application Diege :)

Londoner · 20/03/2006 11:58

Yeah, it's not just a sugar rush with Haribo is it Rodeo..... what do they put in them? Remember forgetting this and giving some to kids on 3 hour Eurostar journey... never again!
The cereal boxes are leak-proof yes, you turn them onto their largest surface and cut that side out including the inner plastic bay surface so you have a box and packet bowl and just poor in the milk... if you need sugar, just use the coffee bar sachets, it's really good fun! Whole lot just goes in bin afterwards apart from spoons. We also do this when camping. Lol at you considering this on a daily basis, you are funny!

Londoner · 20/03/2006 11:59

I mean bag rather than bay.........

Diege · 20/03/2006 12:26

Thanks for the tips LONDONER! Yes, I wondered too about milk soaking through, but see how it would work now Smile. Will def. try this, and also like the little toys to unwrap idea; you are organised saving cracker toys! Grin.
Have tried e-mailing mad personnel woman about my application, and she has opened it but not replied , hmmmmm!!!!! Trying to ring government flexible work helpline, but of course constantly engaged!!! You know when you have something in your mind to do, and you want to do it NOW!!!!.Angry(doesn't happen often!)Have decided to tidy out craft cupboard instead - wish I hadn't started!
LOL about Haribos; I thought it was just my lot! Must be the colourings I would suspect Shock.
Yep, def. post details on yahoo, so we don't get any crazies (other than me!!Grin; Wink.)
PS: anyone else's bubs a thumb sucker?

Diege · 20/03/2006 12:47

Just had to add that I've booked my hotel for meet-up!!!Yeah!!! , and Libs has a little bubs cot reserved Smile

Londoner · 20/03/2006 12:57

Glad you like the ideas Diege..... organised? Moi?Grin
How do you know that woman has opened your email? Does your email tell you? Have never heard of this, wow! Well done on booking the hotel etc, now that's organisedSmile. Hey, Elizabeth likes to suck her thumb too, v.cute isn't it!

goldenoldie · 20/03/2006 13:05

Beartime - you HATE London! Only us Londoners are allowed to say that - tongue in cheek, of course.

Next time let us Mumsnet ldn ladies show you around the big smoke. I'm sure you will change your mind.

For my part, I've done plenty of travelling, and there is only one place in the world that I love as much as Ldn, and thats New York. But then I'm a big time city girl...............

Londoner · 20/03/2006 13:14

Golden, I'm with you there...and Paris, wow!

What time does your ds1 go to bed ?

novadandypowder · 20/03/2006 13:23

afternoon Smile

Nat is a thumb sucker, although she swaps between that and her index and middle fingers. She also enjoys sucking on her muslins and we're getting through them so quickly i'm going to have to buy some more.

DH left yesterday - had to pretty much crow bar him out of the front door as he didn't want to leave.

Went to the house warming party of a friend who lives around the corner yesterday. It was full of babies/children/pregnant ladies and typically Natalie was the only one who had a melt down due to missing a nap. Could feel the stares from everyone as i sat there with a glass of wine in one hand and sobbing child in the other. Thankfully she gave up and went to sleep after half an hour, then charmed everyone when she woke up by giggling and smiling.

Managed to get her passport piccy taken on saturday, but have a very funny one of her sticking her tongue out in the process. I wish we could use that on her passport.

She had a whole ice cubes worth of carrot today, so she's getting into it.

The coughing has finally stopped and her eye is better Grin

we've waved goodbye to the sleeping through though. She now needs a feed at around 4 or 5am.

Diege · 20/03/2006 13:44

Wow that's good going with the carrot NOVA! Had same experience of you yesterday with melt-down, due to no nap (though slightly easier to cope with at parents' house!) DD3 is the only thumb sucker of the 3; I think it's really sweet, and def. soothes them without worry of dropped out dummies!
I'm a London-lover too, though perhaps it's more the shops thing Blush. My fave city is Copenhagan; would love to live there (plus so child-friendly!, and the people are so nice Smile.
Well, getting through my 'to do'list today! (even renewed thr dreaded library books!! Have had HORRENDOUS fines in past, and even discovered I had a CCJ from not taking a book bak years ago when buying a house Blush!!!! (never even read the damn thing!).
Oh yes, e-mail LONDONER. From my work-mail, I can look at sent e-mails, and see if 'internal' people have opened them, and when. (v.useful!!!)I have learnt at work that if I am doubtful of the answer to a query/just don't want to communicate instantly with someone, then not to go anywhere near it!
Time for sit-ups now (honestly!)
Diege Smile.

goldenoldie · 20/03/2006 13:49

diege - good luck on the flex. wk. application. took me 3 goes to get it right/get it accepted.

Karma - so sorry to hear about your brother. Will he ever have a complete recovery?

londoner - Paris is great - its the Parisiens I have trouble with. I don't speak French, so I spend a lot of time getting ignored.

DS1 - in bed by 8 - 8:30. lights off at 9.

nova - why is nats waking during the night?

novadandypowder · 20/03/2006 14:01

She's getting hungry Golden - has increased her milk intake by 200mls/7ozs a day.

novadandypowder · 20/03/2006 14:07

I love Amsterdam, and looks like Nats first holiday will be New York in May. I preferred San Fransisco over New York, although if the TV show in the states that DH is working on gets picked up we may end up spending a few months living in LA LA land.

goldenoldie · 20/03/2006 15:10

Oooooooooo, Nova, what a glam lifestyle you lead. I'm lucky if we get a wet weekend in Brighton.

Not with you on the preferences tho. Give me New York over San Fran. or LA anyday.

How many 7oz bottles in Nats having a day?

babyonboard · 20/03/2006 15:29

hi all..

I had a fantastic birthday outing..and week in sheffild.
It's so lovely for all my family to spend time with O, they are all madly in love with him, naturally Smile

i'm feeling incapacitated and very sorry for myself today..we went to meet a friend in blackheath yesterdy and I wore some new jeans that are way too long..on the way home i tripped over them and somehow landed head first on the pavement..i now have a very grazed cheek and black eye, and one knee is swollen to twice its norml size..
so stupid..
i'll feel very self concious at the clinic tomorrow when we go for jabs..lol

best go..O is shouting for attention..i'll catch up with your news later..

goldenoldie · 20/03/2006 15:48

BOB - fashion victim!

novadandypowder · 20/03/2006 17:20

Golden - she has 4 x 8oz and 1 x 6/7oz and an ice cube worth of puree.

lol @ fashion victim Grin

Diege · 20/03/2006 18:58

Oooh BOB, sounds sore Shock. I'm seeing you now in oversized baggies, with a hoodie and skateboard? Am I right? Wink. Right, SW class!
Speak later,
Diege Smile.

BEKsmum · 20/03/2006 20:04

Evening

Bob nice to see you back, glad you had a good time in Sheffield. Your fall sounds painful, did you have O with you at the time? Sounds like a good excuse to put you feet up with a big bar of choclate with your baby to cuddle. Hope your knee is better soon.

Cor you lot are a jet set lot aren't you, my favourite city is Amsterdam purely for the great fun weekends I've spent their with dh and mates.

Won a nice 5* weekend in Zurich once which was cool, first class flights, the works so got to see how the other half live!

Am I the only one who has never been to America? I don't know why but it just doesn't appeal to me at all.

Diege Shock up at your CCJ over a library book -didn't realise that could happen, didn't think they took it that seriously.
Just remember you saked about my anniversary, dh had forgotten but I took pity on him and reminded him the day before so I did get a couple of cards just no flowers or presents. Will be expecting something pretty top rate for Mothers Day now!!!

Karma good to talk to you again today, sorry I forgot to ask how your brother was, hope he's doing ok.

Nova hope your dh has remembered to leave you a pressie for Mothers Day. Or that he's going to bring you back something extra special from the states.

Right off to do some ironing now that Thomas has finally given in and gone to sleep. Beks
