BEKsmum · 17/03/2006 15:52

Chacha lol I think I'll need to get a new husband before I get number 3 - my dh doesn't want any more babies but then I again I didn't give him a choice with the two he's got Grin so never say never but it won't be for a couple of years yet!!!

I'll give all of you with one the chance to catch up first Grin

Sounds like you're loving every minute with Zayn and to be honest it just gets better and better the older they get, will you be coming down for the London meet up?

Diege · 17/03/2006 17:24

Just a quickie to say I have bought my train ticket, travelling down on eve of 17th, ready for meet-up on the 18th yeahhhh!!!!!!Grin. JUst hope you're all available now Blush.
NOVA: My train gets in something like 9.30pm, but there may be delays due to engineering works (as it's bank holiday)..It may be easier if I book in at hotel round corner? Have had to get relatively late train as can;t take pram (apparently), so am taking sling (not even thinking about that yet!!), and need her to sleep!. Let me kow what's best for you Smile.]
Right, self-absorbed post over...just wanted to 'share'as I am so excited!!!
Diege Smile

beartime · 17/03/2006 17:39

Diege - I still can't parallel park!

Londoner - good idea not to put yourself in for more baby crying! I had to shield my eyes the other day when I walked past TV with scary music and a baby crying on it - just knew something horrible was going to happen and I didn't want to see it! Mind you I get scared just hearing the music of these thrillers!

ChaCha - Quorn is great for Tacos - DH loves it and he's used to the real stuff! Norks is an MN word - I love it so like using it as much as poss cos it makes me laugh!

JenJam · 17/03/2006 17:50

diege that IS exciting! if you want you could skip hotel and kip in finns room - I wld put travelcot in our room. are you coming with libby only? understand if you prefer to hotel it and have more space.... btw what time did libby enter the world on the 7th?? finn slipped out at 10pm

twinkle - saw your\ post - poor you to have such alot to deal with - v. sorry to hear xx

will catch up with the rest of the posts tomorrow. as i've got a lucky opportunity to go out to meet some friends in soho tonight. james, for once will be home by 6.30!!! and will take care of finn. what will i wear though???? (currently still in pyjamas and have about three outfits including what i am wearing now....)

hve a pleasant evening all.

i must not drink too much. i must not drink too much

goldenoldie · 17/03/2006 18:50

Thanks for the numbers Jen. Hope you have a good night out.

Diege - I'm very excited some of you are able to come down to the big smoke for a day or two. A lunchtime meet on the 18 would be great. Of course, my vote is for somewhere in Islington/Angel, but it is quite near Euston.

Beartime - good news about your DH. You can get him insured now!

The DTs got their first University certificate today! They took part in a psychology experiment at Birkbeck in their babylab. Good fun, free taxi, and I'm always keen on having people fawning over my babies!

They are looking for more babies that live within a few miles of central london. See - www.cbcd.bbk.ac.uk/babylab/

Londoner · 17/03/2006 19:26

Hi again....was just browsing as I bf (hey, that's got to be a good title for something!) and found this which made me smile....
and thought you might like to see it too.....

Diege · 17/03/2006 19:58

LOL Londoner at thread! Grin; certainly getting a bit competitive at end, and I'm sure Malorytowers DH doesn't exist Envy!.
GOLDEN: oooh, university; they'd get a place already where I work Blush, we take anyone! What did they have to do?
JENJAM:your offer of a room is so kind - NOva has also offered Smile I'm thinking more and more though that I may plump for my regular IBIS hotel round back of Euston, simply because there will be engineering works on journey (bank holiday) and may add 40 mins or so to journey time, so woman from Virgin says, meaning I get until London 9.30-10pm. Possibly easiest option all round I think Smile.
Are CHACHA and KARMA coming down too? (you can see this topic of converstaion is going to dominate my posts for several weeks!) Please feel free to tell me to shut up and just get my damn train!!
CHACHA: quorn advice...I use the mince in chilli recipes, spag bol, and also cottage pie - works well. Chunks are more for the quorn hardliner; I put in stir fry with veggies, and something like a blackbean sauce, served with noodles or brown rice. I've also heard chunks are brill in a curry, though haven't been brave enough to do this; Asda do one in their fresh 'curry pots' apparently!
Right, heating up last night's quorn curry!
Diege Smile

Diege · 17/03/2006 19:59

last night's quorn CHILLI!!! durrr

goldenoldie · 17/03/2006 20:50

ChaCha - re: quorn chunks - I use 'chicken tonight' jars. Just pour them over and stick in oven for 30 mins. Yum.

Diege - the DTs just had to look at a few images on a screen. They were filmed and the analysis will examine the length or their attention span.

DT1 really enjoyed it - was very curious/interested and was cooing/chatty. DT2 was very irritable and fussed and moaned the whole time.

beartime · 17/03/2006 22:09

Those of you with four feeds a day - how long are they feeding for? I ask cos I'm sure Caleb is using some of the time to just suckle or sleep! Which would be fine except that suckling time is one of the facts in how soon you get AF back IYSWIM Grin so I would like to know when to take him off cos he's probably done!

JenJam · 18/03/2006 00:04

oh dear. did drink too much. in fact anything over 1.5 glass of wine is too much.

glad to be home now, late night bus is a bit fraught - anyhow finn sleeping in cot upstairs, dp glad o,f the pizza guzzling space me thinks and hopes

diege - wondered if nova had offered you a berd based on the post before i posted but read through things in such a rush. anyhow, do whatever makes you feel comfy - it's great to be able to meet up

well cup o tea for me then night night all

JenJam · 18/03/2006 00:06

bed, not berd!

Rodeo · 18/03/2006 11:08

Sad day here - last Dick & Dom.....

Work was v. busy last night, phew! Think everyone was pretending to be part Irish :)

Did you have a good time Jen? Sounds like you did!

Coming to London too on the 18th!! Grin Will be great to finally meet you all!

Bear - I think after 15-20 mins he should be done, but all babies are different!! BTW, some womens periods don't come back til they've completely stopped bfing. I was one of those lucky ones! I even went down to 1-2 feeds a day an still no sign, think they came back after a couple of months after final feed. My friend had to give up her bedtime feed with her 2yo in order to concieve her 3rd too. Sorry - I know that's not what you want to hear

Right - must change a nappy :)

Diege · 18/03/2006 14:54

Afternoon! Sounds like you had a great time JENJAM! Are you fully recovered yet? Did you get a lie-in this morning? Grin
Bet you need one too RODEO! Had forgotten it was St.patrick's (had wondered about the hats!)
BEAR: I BF dd1 for 6 months, but conceived when she was 5 months. My periods can back at about 4 months, as I went back to work then so was only breast-feeding first thing morning, last thing at night. That obviously wasn;t enough to stop me ovulating, but as RODEO says it effects everyone else differently. Difficult decision, esp. if you want 10 and want to BF them all Shock!
Right, snow-storm has been smashed, speak later !!!!!!!
Diege Smile

Rodeo · 18/03/2006 22:26

Evening,

Yes I wondered about you concieving dd2 Diege after I posted! That's a bit more promising for you Bear :) You'll just have to will them back! Just read while catching up the brilliant news about you dh's health - Excellent :)

Twinkle - Sorry you're having such a tough time at the moment - thinking of you x x x

Tex, How is Rosie now? These sickness bugs are really taking there time to get out of their systems. Is your dh back?

Nova, How is Nat now? Has she shaken her bug off now? How's her little eye? Awww, daddy went to watch her swimming (sniff..) that's so cute. Things like that always make me want to cry! Started crying while watching Crufts last Sunday - I really must get a grip....

I think I like the Hoobs - Are they the ones who sing that catchy little ditty about the tiddly-peeps?

I booked my flight last night to see my friends again in Madrid. She'll still be pg when I go over, she had her 20 wk scan today and was due to find out sex! How exciting! She has 2 boys already - I think she'll get a little girl - I'll let you know!

Just been upstairs to see where dp's got to, and he's fallen asleep in bed! I've left him up there so I'm eating crisps and coke and watching the Commonwealth Games and The Games on C4. When did Saturday nights get so exciting?!

Right I could go on but I shan't.....don't want to bore you all to tears. Night! x x x

LaylaandSethsmum · 18/03/2006 22:35

Hi everyone

have to say am a bit Envy at you all going to London for the big meet up but I just don't think I could manage it and would feel guilty leaving DD!! ( Stupid I know Grin} make sure you all post loads of pics though

Am off to bed shortly so just wanted to say I've just won a brand new Quinny Buzz on ebay!!! Am sooo chuffed ! Can't wait for it to arrive now!!!

Also on a more sensible note Twinkle I am thinking about you all at the mo!!xxx Sad

Nighty Night!!!

Ps: anyone seen Little Britain Live? May be going and wanted some opinions

Diege · 19/03/2006 09:28

Congrats LAYLA! Did you get it for a bargain price? RODEO: Awww nooo, not crying at Crufts! Shock; bet it was the dancing dog that did it? Have to admit watching it myself, as my mum and dad won best of breed years ago with a pekinese we had Blush(made the Daily Mail, double Blush. I knew I could rely on you to be watching both sets of games (me too!)Lucky you with trip to Madrid; bet seeing pregnant friend will bring back memories. When are you going?
I have a (nice) dilemma. Friend has asked if I would go to Portugal with her in her (v.posh) villa at end of summer. We would have 3 children apiece, and no DHs with us. Sounds tempting beyond belief, but dds have never been on plane before - of course the whole thing will be hard work, but just wondering if flight will tip it over the edge of what is bearable? Anyone else travelled with 3 under 5s (oh, and my friend's 3 under 7s!!)on a plane?
Am chuffed anyway to be going to our fave place for a week -Whitby in Yorkshire Smile.
Right, over for dad's birthday in Wales today, so speak later (am taking over last night's quorn leftovers so I don't binge - how sad is that!).
Diege and Liberty Smile

goldenoldie · 19/03/2006 10:31

Diege - can you book some childcare help in Portugal? Otherwise 6 kids between the two of you sounds less like a holiday and more like an endurance test!

Have you been on holiday with her before? If nit, beware. However nice someone is wneh you see then socially for the odd dinner, it is very different when you are living under the same roof.

A good friend went away for a short trip with another good friend. Both had kids under 7. It turned into a complete nightmare cause one family needed to have kids in bed by a reasonable time to stop them becoming overtired and unbearable, but the other family always had their kids up till adults went to bed. You can imagine the difficulties of trying to get one set of kids to bed while the other stayed up!

Apparently the mornings were worse. One set of kids always got up (and woke everyone else up) before 6am! Nice.

Rodeo · 19/03/2006 12:35

Ha! Dancing dogs - noooo! Dp hates that! It was the award that went to the brown lab which was a dog for the disabled and helped the little boy with cerebral palsy - it was lovely! Although found out in the week that my dad, gran and aunt all shed a tear too! We're a soppy bunch....

If the friends a good friend I'd say def go for it! Sounds great, the kids will keep themselves occupied with each others company and the new and exciting surroundings and wear themselves out for a reasonble bedtime hour! How long would the flight be? About 3 hours or so? Get 2 lots of wrist straps (dog leads!) and tie them to the pushchair for airport, luggage etc Grin I'd do anything right now for some sunshine! Me and friend are going end of May for 5 days, this time we're taking our eldest dd's (6&7) - we've not told the girls yet though. Whitby's lovely!! My mum was ready to sell up last year and move to Whitby! We can get up there for fab day trips although takes about 2-3 hours in the car. We're hoping to take the tent to Robin Hoods Bay in the Summer :) Might see you there!

We've got car trauma at the mo, dp's out there fixing it as I type. I'm glad he's a handy type! I'm not really bothered he isn't any use at girly jobs (like the thread the other day) although he is good at childcare!

L&Smum, we'll meet up for coffee when you've had it delivered so you can show it off Grin

Right, as we aren't going anywhere today I'm spring-cleaning Shock so better get back to it x x x

browniechick · 19/03/2006 19:02

Hello All - just a quick post from me.

Am knackered - it was Thomas' Christening today Grin. It was lovely - a really nice day. We had over 65 guests, and Thomas was a little star - he didn't cry, let the vicar hold him to pour the water over his head, and was passed around lots of family and friends, all without a murmur. What a good little boy he was. My Grandad came out of hospital for the day too - so it was a really special day Smile

The whole weekend has been a bit busy, cos obviously family came down Saturday, and my cousin stayed with us. My Mum did all the catering too, so it really was stressful for her. But it was a faabulous day. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. T wore the family Christening gown, which has been in the family for over 80 years - so he looked gorgeous!

Sorry for self absorbed post - hope everyone else had a lovely weekend, and that all poorly little ones are on the mend.

Brownie & Thomas
x

BEKsmum · 19/03/2006 20:16

Brownie, how lovely, sounds like you had the perfect day and what a star Thomas was. You must have been thrilled that your grandad was able to come out of hospital for Thomas's special day.

Hope you are going to post some pictures on the yahoo site.

Enjoy putting your feet up this evening, sounds like you deserve it.

Personally have had a very quiet weekend (literally as I've lost my voice - the boys think it's great} as we are the house of the lurgy yet again, Paul & I have the flu with a wickeked cough and Thomas is starting to get it too Sad He has the terrible cough any suggestions on what to give him would be greatly appreciated.

Hope you've all had a good weekend Beks

Diege · 19/03/2006 20:47

Hi everyone Smile. Back from Wales, after a joint party for my dad and puppy Megan Grin. The girls went crazy when they saw their cousins, and a good time was had by all Smile.
BROWNIE: sounds like you had a perfect day, and what special memories your grandad will have Smile.
GOLDEN: yes, agree it could be a recipe for disaster, but the friend is a very good one,and we operate on similar wave lenghts, so should be able to put up with each other for a week Grin. She follows GIna F too, so should be on par for sleep times etc...HOW structured will our days be! RODEO, yes, hopefully the children will entertain each other, with a 4 and 6 year old, two 3 year olds, and Libs (10 months then!) with 17 month old. And what can go wrong in a week!! Wink.
RODEO: Me and DH cringe watching the dancing dog too - how can anyone take it seriously? (apologies to dancing dog fans out thereShock). We stayed in Boggle Hole last year, round the corner from Robin Hood's bay! Great little park for the kids, though big hill's a pain for buggies! We are at Whitby early August Smilehey, we could all go to the Magpie if you're there at same time Grin. Yumm!!!
BEKS, poor you, try and rest, and lots of fluids!! Coughs often sound worse than they are (so says my GP),and the 'loose' ones in kids are actually a sign that the body is recovering (though it doesn't sound like this in the middle of the night !). None of the cough medicines actually do anything, apparently, and are a bit of a con. I Still get them though, to feel I'm doing something (mad I know). I'd just give infant paracetemol to ease discomfort, and only be concerned if cough seems 'tight'.
Right, back to those damn quorn chunks ...forgot my tupperwear container for parents, so have them to 'enjoy' now Smile.
Diege Smile

Karmamother · 19/03/2006 22:09

Evening ladies.

Again, ages since I last posted so I'll try & catch up.

Diege, whenever I hear those bloody Hoobs I get a cold shiver down my spine. Memories of getting up at the crack of dawn with DS. Glad you had a good time in Wales although I misinterpretted the words "joint party" & thought it was something entirely different....BlushGrin Also, re: Whitby, have you been to the Magpie for fish & chips? Bloody marvellous.

Chacha, glad the mixed feeding is going well. I'm sure it makes Z a happier baby if Mummy & Daddy are happy.

Beksmum, not sure if you rang on Friday. I'll give you a ring in the next week. Glad to hear I wont be pounced on by the swingers, phew. I'm quite enlightened but never had the urge to throw my car keys at another couple!! Hope the flu bugs clear up soon. Have you tried hot honey & lemon? (with a dash of Glenmorangie!!)

Londoner, Hope you're feeling better too. As for getting Ella into the cot, I put the moses basket inside the cot for a week & she still slept in it at night. During the day I put her in the cot without the basket. She did very well once she figured out it was her new big girl bed.Smile

Twinkle, sorry to hear about your family. Things have obviously come in threes! You need a bit of TLC, I bet.

So when is the April meet up? I'm really looking forward to it. It must be quite surreal to meet people for the first time yet you know so much about each other!

Things here are a bit up & down. I feel much better but the odd day keeps biting me on the arse. My brother had a stroke 2 weeks ago which has upset me. He's made a good recovery but his mouth droops & he dribbles a lot. We had a joke about how he dribbles more than Ella! Mum died of a stroke 19 years ago so it does seem to be familial. Glad I don't smoke & eat a reasonably healthy diet.

Ella is just gorgeous & I love her to bits. Sometimes it scares me just how much I love her. I love it that she's now in the bedside cot. She's the first thing I see in the morning & she gives me her best smile of the day. Much rather look at her than DP's hairy arse. Grin

Hope everyone else ok!

Diege · 19/03/2006 22:24

Hi Karma! LOL about the 'joint party'(I wish! Wink. Yes, agree 100% about The Magpie - well worth the queue outside! Always overdo it a bit and am embarrassed when waitress takes away almost full plate!
So sorry to hear about your brother's strokeSad. My mum had a stroke 2 years ago, age 51 - a real shock, although we too have a v. strong family history, and I too suffer from high blood pressure and cholestral (though not in pregnancy!). There are some good support groups out there, including some internet ones which have lots of personal stories (which my mum found really helpful). Try and keep your spirits up KARMA, you always seem so cheerful and your posts always make me chuckle, but I know things can be up and down. London meet with the Northern crew is Tuesday 18th April, with me, Rodeo (and you?) signed up to meet the Southerners Grin. Ella sounds absolutely gorgeous Smile.
Right, damn bottles yet again...can't wait for cow's milk!
