Tex - I've read 'confessions of a bad mother'. Thought it was a good laugh - have to say I do identify with the main character - being a mum was never my life's ambition, just something I assumed would happen to me in the natural course of things.

I have a big gap between DS1 and the DTs so no problems with giving them all the time/attention they need. DS1 and the DTs are not competing for the same things. DTs are in bed by 6pm and DS1 has me all to himself till his bedtime at 8:30.

House is big enough already so don't have to move. Decided to buy a bigger car when we found out I was expecting twins, but to be honest the saloon we had before would have been OK.

LilJ - cheeky cleaning woman. Deduct a tenner from her Christmas bonus.

Busy - think your idea is a good one, the only difficulty is that i would not think to look on e-bay for a baby shower present/present for pregnant friend.

Beartime - 10 kids!!! Your DH must be a very rich man to be able to support a brood that big!

Beks - yes, def. wanted one little girl, and got two little boys instead - and that makes three.

To be honest I've not found going from 1 to 3 difficult at all, but as I say, maybe it's because DS1 is 10? And the DTs have been a breeze (I know i will eat those words one day), much, much easier than DS1 as a baby.

Diege - glad DD is OK.

You are ONLY 9st - you lucky thing. How tall are you? Unless you are under 5ft won't 8st be on the Kate Moss side?

Rodeo - a belated happy birthday to Joe

Enthusia - welcome back!

beartime · 13/03/2006 19:26

Golden - DH hasn't agreed to the 10 kids and he isn't rich either Grin

Diege - I have a mug that has a sheep on it saying 'Englands OK... if you like foreigners' Smile I spent 5 yrs of my life in Wales from age 2-7 and I still love it. Wales and the Lake District are my favourite places in the UK - I love mountains and sheep!

beartime · 13/03/2006 19:28

How do you guys keep your nursery at the right temperature? I have to keep going in there and checking it and putting an extra blanket on, as his room goes from 70 when I put him down to 55 in the night if I'm not careful. And tonight I'd had the heating on and hadn't realised it and it was 80 when I put him down so I had to open the window, and now have to go in there and shut it and put more blankets on arrrgh.

novadandypowder · 13/03/2006 20:15

It was the spring issue of Junior Pregnancy & Baby that carried the article on BLW. It started off in a very positive way, it was just the last couple of paragraphs that made me re-think.

Novadandypowder - Years ago I got sent an email (when I had a really boring email name) where you type in your real name and it generated a 70's glam name for you. My glam name was novadandypowder so I used that as a hotmail name and it stuck. I do get weird looks when people ask for my email address though.

Temperature - it really fluctuates in the nursery, anything from 17-20+C. As I sleep in there I can keep an eye on it, but I never really bother to do anything unless it gets really hot when i'll open a window. I try to keep it at around 18C.

I'd really like to get on with trying for number 2 but it's going to have to wait until DH gets back from the states. My cycle seems to have come back very regularly so thats a good sign. I'd quite like to have another girl, mainly because it would mean we wouldn't have to buy anything for her.

Busyalexsmummy · 13/03/2006 20:20

beartime, have found a really good, informative piece about baby-led weaning!
have a read through

ChaCha · 13/03/2006 20:29

Tex - Hello. We did discuss names before. I chose mine after the character 'ChaCha' from my all time favourite movie 'Grease'.
Rodeo - Do you remember making fun of it calling me a panda? Can't find those messages, you and Beks were bullying me Grin It was scary pants stuff - think I sulked for a few days. LOL .. Try to find it.

Enthusia - Sorry to hear that Sam is so poorly. Let us know how everything is. It will be great having your folks around, they are such a great help.

All this talk of the next set of babies! DH and I have also been discussing it, I already want another boy, DH wants a girl. They have already been named. How sad is that then?

Diege - Glad your DD is ok.

Beartime - It's really not funny (not that you were laughing) but my weight has never, ever been this much. I've actually gone up to almost 12stone - there you go!!!! Blush I was really good today and then DH makes us banana fritters with some ice cream ... typical! I drink a lot of tea these days and have a lot of sugar, must try and cut that out - v.hard! Anyway, friend has just done her garage into a gym - only a walk away so will endeavour to get my fat butt over there soon. Hmmm.

Z has his fist in mout all the time now, but no red cheeks or temperature.

Had something to ask but have now forgotten. Great.

beartime · 13/03/2006 20:38

hmmm.. I think parent-led might be more for me - don't like the idea of baby 'dropping' food and choosing what he wants to eat and what he doesn't!

beartime · 13/03/2006 20:44

ChaCha - now that you've admitted it you can post - I think if you look on the thread BAM created (now we know why she's called busy Grin) you'll find you're not the only one! Smile It really motivated me today - first day I didn't binge (yet) for at least a week. We have named our no. 2 boy too - Josiah. Course it could be a girl, don't what we'd do then! And we might not be able to have any more! I was reading birth stories that went wrong last night and it really made me think twice - the whole birth thing is such a nightmare.

I've been so sad today - its my 'day off' (no cleaning or cooking!) so I keep checking MN all the time! Oh dear!

Diege · 13/03/2006 20:54

Hi everyone! Just back from SW meeting - v.good Smile;am celebrating now with fish cake, chips and gravy, a cream egg and 4 choclate chip cookies - yum!!! I am slightly compulsive in nature though - an all or nothing person Blush, so do have the odd binge (awful I know), but am text-book good for the rest of the week. NOT the way to do things.
I'm from North Wales BEKS, a village called Llanddulas that I bet no-one has heard of! (in between Rhyl and Colwyn Bay). Does your DH speak Welsh? - d'wyn siarad cymraeg? Grin?
BEAR: I am OBSESSED with temperature in our room, where Libby is at the moment. I use a thermostatically-controlled heater (good, cheapish ones from Argos)that maintain a constant temperature, and take the worry away. I remember with dd1, who was born in July (on the hotest day of the year) that nothing would get the temp chart off 'too hot'; she'd sleep in just a nappy and I'd constantly be checking.
NOVA: LOL at not having to buy more stuff for dd2' That's what I thought, you wait!!!!The stuff you put away won't seem quite right, or dd2 will be born at the wrong time of the year for sizes IYSWIM. Or maybe this is just me Grin. Had always wondered about your name!
GOLDEN: Kate Moss I wish!!! I'm petite, but quite broad, with biggish arms and and shoulders, so could never attain the 'waif' look (not that I'd want to really, though wouldn;t mind Kylie's body Grin. I'm 5 ft 2 and a half, and am 'allowed' down to 7.12 on SW, for my height/weight ratio Smile.
Right, DH back from chipie!!!!
Diege Smile

beartime · 13/03/2006 21:20

Diege - LOL at the creme egg and cookies! I almost did that when I used to weigh but instead decided to treat myself to diet coke!! Having said that I still binged on other occasions! I used to live in a little hamlet near Mold, Clwyd (though I think its Flintshire now?) so not that far. Grew up with a brummie accent and got sooo bullied for it when we moved to posh Hampshire Sad DH and I went to Rhyl two years ago - I couldn't wait to get out! I am going to look into buying one of those heaters - I am fed up of having to keep going in there and adding blankets!

Busyalexsmummy · 13/03/2006 21:33

Beartime-unfortunately they all do that,baby-led or mother enforced lol If you were hoping for a child that eats what you want him to eat you've been seriuosly mislead my love!Wink

browniechick · 13/03/2006 21:55

Hello All! It's been a busy couple of days on here! No chance of catching up with everything!

Don't think I'll be partaking in the weigh in weight loss thingy - not too bothered about losing any more - back in most pre-preg clothes so that'll do me - don't really care what the scales say Blush and never really have (poss because have never really had to worry about weight - so have been v lucky I know).

Sorry to hear that there are a foor more poorly woorly bubs - hope they all get better soon.

We've got our final set of jabs tomorrow - so fingers crossed that they go by with no real problem.

Teeth haven't quite made an appearance yet - but both bottom front ones are due to make an appearance any day now! The IceyBites are getting a good old hammering, as are both of his fists!!

Think I have mentioned about my nick name before - Am a Brown Owl at a local Brownie pack - so it seemed like a natural choice (BrownOwl had already gone, hence the chick on the end!) Never really had a nickname Sad so can never think of a good one for things like this!

Anyway, PrisonBreak is on soon - ooh it's full of gooorgeous men!!!!! so will be off to drool over the telly!
I didn't like the woman on DND today either - she was a bit odd to say the least!

Peaceful nights to all of you & your little ones
Brownie & Thomas

Diege · 13/03/2006 22:01

urhhh...feel soooo siiiick...Blush, but (on the bright side), I've got it out of my system now, so will stick to the plan now all week Smile. DHs birthday tommorrow, so will try and make sensible choices Smile.
BTW, meant to ask if anyone knows a website I could buy black-out blinds/linings from? Libby is waking up with the sun (6ish) and while I shouldn't complain, would like her to go till nearer 7 if she has it in her!
Meant to mention too BEAR that dream feed has been reduced; she was seriously perturbed last night, and kept on smacking her lips for more, but would only take a couple of ounces at breakfast, so obviously not really needing it. Will reduce an ounce every four days or so I think Smile. Hmm, Rhyl isn't my favourite place...has become a pit for drug users these days Sad.
BTW, while I am in post-binge guilt haze, there is a website campaign going on for Cadbury's to make 'full-size' cream eggs (ie, Easter egg size). I have obviously signed up as they are my 'thing'; anyone else see the merit of this? Grin.
Diege Smile

Diege · 13/03/2006 22:03

BTW my dd4 is Matilda Honey Grin

Diege · 13/03/2006 22:03

Sorry, that should be with an 'h' (ie, Mathilda) Grin.

LaylaandSethsmum · 13/03/2006 22:19

Happy birthday Rodeo's Joe!! Hope the party was great!!Grin

Not much time as my bed is calling but Diege try \link{http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Browse/catalogId/4501/identifier/7792204/C$Style/Blackout+Roller+Blind/languageId/-1/Trail/C%24cip%3D35826%3EC%24cip%3D35887%3EC%24Style%3DBlackout+Roller+Blind.htm\argos additions got Layla's from here!}

xxxNight Night

LaylaandSethsmum · 13/03/2006 22:20

For your blackout blind I meant tosay Smile!!!

Diege · 13/03/2006 22:22

Thanks L&Smum!! that's so kind of you Smile; will def. get one from here...think they will be in demand soon with summer coming up!

LaylaandSethsmum · 13/03/2006 22:30
Grin

Now really really must go to bed!!

beartime · 13/03/2006 22:34

Oh bother, I guess I've got a lot to learn with the whole weaning thing - guess why I'm trying to delay it as long as possible!

Brownie - I'd be happy if I was in my pre-preg clothes too! A LONG way to go yet though Sad

Diege - thought you said you had blackout linings and they didn't make any difference? For years I've been saying they should make a full-sized creme egg! Now what would be reeeeally good is a full sized caramel egg yum yum. I think I would be sick though!

L&Smum how do you figure out the size thing with the blinds?

Busyalexsmummy · 13/03/2006 22:37

You measure the inside of the window, then you choose the size that is the same, or the next size up, not one that measures less than the inside measurement. When it arrives, you can then cut the rods down to size at the top+bottom and simply carefully cut the actual blind

LilJ - Jenjam and I are meeting up on Weds - are you free?

beartime · 14/03/2006 07:00

Thanks BAM - I'm such an idiot when it comes to stuff like that!

BEKsmum · 14/03/2006 08:32

Morning,

Diege I see so you are proper welsh then! Afraid to say none of dh's family speak welsh but my nephew does learn a bit in school or at least he used to.

Chacha it was me that made the panda reference in the beginning and we weren't bullying you honest just teasing you a bit Grin Hopefully you realise now I'm a wind up merchant - so no offence meant, hope we're not as scary any more, I forget it's easy to misinterpret what's written on here.

As for nicknames mines very dull, BEK are Ben's initials.

Right best go as now have both boys around me - no peace for rhe wicked & I must have been really wicked at some time Grin Hope everyone got a better nights sleep last night Beks
