Well done Jen

JenFraggle · 04/07/2012 13:52

Thanks. Just got DD weighed, she is now 10lb2 at 5 weeks

Biscuitsandtea · 04/07/2012 13:58

Good effort Jen Grin

Musical, honestly? If he's not crying, he's not hungry. That's the limit of my interpretation! Well not exactly like that but I generally give him a while when he wakes up and he'll snuffle or suck his fist. Now normally I would think fist sucking = hungry, but often he'll fall asleep again doing it. So I tend to figure he'll wake up again if he's really hungry? Obviously if he cries though I feed him. He isn't crying with the fist sucking stuff.

Hooray for the arrival of the latest mini No Brooker!

Jen you mean to say you're half a stone lighter without doing any targeted dieting or exercise?!?! Envy Envy Envy I wish the magical bfing diet worked for me!!! Currently it's Day 12 of the Shred/diet, and I have to confess I was so busy this weekend that I didn't really stick to it either on Sat or Sun. However I've been back on the wagon full force since Monday. Still, I've lost 7 pounds, (but all of that was in the first week :( ) I might need to stop dieting soon actually, because my milk supply has gone way down. I think it's because I'm drinking so much less than I was (I hate water, and I'm not supposed to drink too much fruit juice, I'm also not allowed the Volvic Touch of Fruit that I usually drink by the litre).

Musical I usually just try and settle A without food if it's been less than 3 hours since her last feed at night. She very quickly lets me know if this is an unacceptable option! It's always worth just trying for a couple of minutes unless it's obvious they're hungry.

Too A also sweats occasionally (in our oven of a house) I just take off a layer and sometimes put on the fan depending on what the room thermometer says.

Biscuits yay for E not having reflux. Poor little man having the catheter put in though, I think I'd have been pretty shocked too!

Loopyhasanotherbean · 04/07/2012 14:32

just having a quick lurk and must say congrats on weight loss jen

scarlet re merino bags, it is worth registering on the merino kids website. They are always doing special offers - last weekend they issued a code for 30% off sleeping bags for members (and it costs nothing to be a member). As far as i know, they also have a 30% discount anyhow if you send in any old bag, from any brand, in any condition.

pommedechocolat · 04/07/2012 14:45

Ninja's popped?? I miss everything!! Yay!! Maybe she won't notice that I never managed to reply to her kind response on my bf topic thread Blush.

Well done to E, glad there's no reflux there.

A doing okay. Saw the GP today as a follow up and talked about maybe upping dose slightly as it seems to wear off in the early hours sometimes. No real conclusion reached though - hopefully the paediatric app will come through soon. Dairy free a pain in the backside although on my online shop delivered tomorrow I have lots of dairy free naughties coming (and calcium supplements too!). I've lost a couple of pounds though so that's good :) My aim was to get back to pre pg weight (half a stone away) by BILs wedding on the 4th August. Let's see if dairy free will get me there!

Lazy, lazy cbeebies day here. Did lots of stuff yesterday with dd1 and she's got nursery tomorrow so I'm sure her brain won't rot away too much today. Just cannot be fagged to do anything.

Hawthers - do you have to give up bf totally? Can you not keep am and pm feeds for example before and after work? Good point about comfy sling= more use!

Biscuitsandtea · 04/07/2012 17:06

Gosh, 3 minutes is a long time when you're doing a time out outside the co-op.......

hawthers · 04/07/2012 17:17

Oh lord biscuits I've never successfully managed to get hom to even stay in time out

JenFraggle · 04/07/2012 17:22

Well done on your 7lb Scream. I've done nothing but sit on my arse every day and drank coke and ate chocolate for a month I'm pretty sure I'm still the fattest brooker though if that helps.

Well done for carrying it through Biscuits

pommedechocolat · 04/07/2012 19:10

biscuits - I did naughty corner today post bath and when dh came home she ran up to him shouting ''I was naughty I went in the naughty corner!' like it was the highlight of her blummin day! Discipline is hard.

jaggythistle · 04/07/2012 19:31

that was DS1 last night. we'd had a talk at bedtime about him doing naughty things or something earlier and when DH came through he was all "Daddy i did naughty things!" like it was v exciting. i think I'll never understand toddler logic.

scarletfingernail · 04/07/2012 22:25

Ha ha Pomme and Jaggy that is exactly what my DS does too.
I asked him what he'd done at nursey today and he started giggling, then came right up to my ear and whispered "hitting" into it and then started giggling again Confused He occasionally tells me he's been "naughty today" and when I ask if he had to sit on the time out chair he just says yes, all matter of fact.

Well done on the weight loss Scream and Jen. Although I'm not weighing myself, I know I'm slimmer than pre-pregnancy and my size smaller clothes are also now becomming loose. This is one of the main reasons why I'm continuing with BF! Good weight gain for N Jen Smile

Thanks for the info re Merino Loopy, that's very good to know. I'm very tempted and I know I'll be able to convince DH if I really want one. I always get my way Grin

I hope Ninja finds time to make it over here soon.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 05/07/2012 01:37

This morning we booked a last minute weekend break to Stratford-Upon-Avon for this Friday, and this evening we booked flights for our road trip around Northern California for September! Sooooooooooo excited! Although trying to ignore my aching credit card and general trepidation about flying/road trip with DD!

Grin at naughty-and-proud DC!

Well done to Scarlet for your weightloss!!

Biscuitsandtea · 05/07/2012 05:29

Wow Scream your trip around California sounds ace! And a lovely weekend away will be nice too - hope the weather does something helpful Smile

Scarlet that's an awesome effort to be slimming out of a size smaller than you were pre-preg! Grin I can still only fit into my fat jeans Sad. In almost three weeks I have lost the grand total of..... Wait for it.... 3oz

Sad

I'm just not trying hard enough though. I need to buck up my ideas but I just can't. Even throwing out the chocolate doesn't seem to have worked as I've found biscuits and crap to eat instead Sad. How come I am doing so rubbish with the will power and you're all doing sooooooo well?

Any ideas as to how I can make myself do this? I don't want to 'go on a diet' I just want to make myself eat a little mote healthily and most importantly I need to cut out the snacks?

OP posts:
jaggythistle · 05/07/2012 06:36

I'll recommend the Paul Mckenna thing again then as it's a total non diet, biscuits.

you can eat what you want, as long as you're actually hungry. you've reminded me to read it again myself, not sure when I'll find time for the cd though!

i haven't weighed myself for weeks, but i can get into a few more pairs of jeans. nothing really fits properly though, i think i am an odd shape! really need to find time for some exercise for my big jelly tummy.

going to visit a wee new baby today, hoping DS1 isn't in a cheeky mood and doesn't destroy my friend's house. have bought comic with attached tat for distraction.

sounds an amazing trip scream. :)

Biscuitsandtea · 05/07/2012 06:57

Biscuitsandtea · 05/07/2012 07:12

Oh, and I meant I've lost 3lb, not 3oz! Was confused by baby weights!! Blush

OP posts:
jaggythistle · 05/07/2012 07:28

i was wondering how you knew you'd lost 3oz!

hope you like it after me harping on. i used to feel weird at first sitting at work eating my lunch really slowly and not always finishing it, but i didn't care once it worked for me!

Biscuitsandtea · 05/07/2012 07:41

Ds1 will just think I'm copying him if I eat really slowly and don't finish it! Mind you he is very slim so maybe he has the right idea Grin

I guess my DH can do it too?

DreamingOfPeace · 05/07/2012 08:00

biscuits, I've been ominously quiet about the healthy eating because, erm, well, I'm not.... Blush . You are not alone.

A message for scream . Self settling was a non starter here. The night before last, Seb woke every 90 minutes and I fed him back to sleep every time as too tired for owt else. Cue more panic about lack of self settling etc. Last night I couldn't get either to sleep, eventually Ben 9pm, Seb 10:15pm, then Seb woke at 4am and Ben 5am Shock Shock . It may not happen again for weeks, but its happened once. Fact. So I still say don't panic I did sweet FA to encourage it. Plus wow for the booked holidays!!!!

DreamingOfPeace · 05/07/2012 08:01

Oh, and the boys did it the night they were 3 months old, 13 weeks.

Biscuitsandtea · 05/07/2012 08:10

Yay Dream!

Now listen up boys - we know you can do it! And both at the same time! So let's have that every night please?

OP posts:
PetWoman · 05/07/2012 08:39

Dream Ben did 9-5??!! Fantastic! I hope you feel loads better, and that the boys repeat that feat for you nightly from now on.

Scream your California holiday sounds fab! Are you seeing a play in Stratford?

I've been eating a bit more healthily and probably eaten less, too, but I'm not sure why. Maybe doing a bit of exercise has helped, or being busy? I haven't had chocolate for ages so maybe breaking the addiction has something to do with it. And being less tired. I dunno. Anyway, I've lost about 3lbs too, Biscuits, but I'm quite pleased about that because the last stone didn't seem to be shifting at all until we started this healthy eating lark. But I still can't fit into my summer trousers. :(

Biscuitsandtea · 05/07/2012 08:42

Well done Pet for getting going again - I wish I was in my last stone! I'm only 3lbs into the first of, say, 3 stone to lose?

OP posts:
Wants3 · 05/07/2012 09:00

I have been told to up my calorie intake to help my milk supply ATM. I think it is important to snack between meals biscuits it's just choosing the healthy options! :)
D seems to have lost the knack of sleeping for 4/5 hours in the night and is waking up a couple of times. He sleeps for longer if he is in bed with me but not ideal I know especially as DH is now home so there is less room!
