Pomme I'd been really good the last few days and have managed to have nice fresh, healthy salads for dinner today and yesterday while DH away. Unfortunately the Pringles and Cadbury Caramels are calling me from the kitchen. I've been ignoring them for the last hour, but I'm starting to weaken. Very stressful trying to get DS to bed tonight who was playing up because he's not seen Daddy and DD was kicking off at the same time. Think I might pour a glass of Wine to go with the Pringles.

I still love my Ergo. I'm very pleased with my purchase and glad I went for it. Good job really considering the cost! Biscuits I agree with your POV about BB being sold in JL. But I can see that Dream makes sense. I guess it's a supply and demand thing? They are popular so they will keep selling them. I didn't know anything about the negative aspects of them until I read about them on here, so I guess people aren't aware generally. That said, they can't be horrific or they'd never have passed any safety tests. BTW I have the BB Babysitter and LOVE it.

No success buying a Grobag today. Been all over town and not been able to find one so ordered the next size Purflo online. I love Purflo, the material is so soft and comfy. I'm tempted Pomme by a Merino, but I think I'd have to work on DH to agree, especially as I said that would be it after the BB Babysitter and then the Ergo! Grin I can see how it works out cheaper to buy a couple of those long term though.

Dream just re read your post. Sorry for the mention on my chocolate! I hope those boys are asleep and you've been able to get some.

scarletfingernail · 03/07/2012 20:50

Meant Hawthers* in my first sentence Blush

jaggythistle · 03/07/2012 21:41

i quite like the look of the Manduca dream, have been Googling different carrier options in the middle of the night!

nothing to report here, just tired and grumpy. DS1 didn't have his nap today so was a bit 'trying' all evening.

not ready at all to leave on holiday a week today. worried it's all going to go pear shaped and DH and i will fall out half way to France.

he's still really working hard so I'm only seeing him in the morning when I'm grumpy at having listened to him snore all night and in the evening when I'm at the end of my tether sometimes. it's a bit shit really. i was looking forward to my time off with him as a SAHD, but i didn't realise how much work what he's doing would entail. i think I'd see more of him if he was at work tbh. he's doing a great job, i just wish it wasn't a full time project.

Biscuitsandtea · 03/07/2012 21:48

That's it exactly Scarlet - I totally think Dream makes sense and I guess the bb type things can't be actually dangerous or they wouldn't pass the safety stuff Smile. And Dream I didn't know that those sites sold Manducas so that's v much reassured me.

DH has said I can have an ergo (and my pacapod) for my birthday Hmm Mind you, officially he had a trampoline and a pushchair for his birthday Grin. And they were both second hand - at least mine would be new Grin. Now all I need to work on is passing off a BB balance seat for Ds1's birthday (ok, so he'll be 4 and it's only suitable for up to 2 WinkHmm).......

I think I might be able to sneak a second hand BB seat?

Jaggy - I'm sure you and DH will have a great holiday when you're both there, and both with only the DC to look after. You'll find it easier to have him helping instead of doing this mega project, and he'll be glad to just be able to help out with it all. In fact I am brooking that it will be just the tonic for you to be able to have some quality time enjoying the dc Smile

Am I right in thinking dh's project is DIY based? How much longer will it take? A break from the physical work will be good for him Smile

jaggythistle · 03/07/2012 22:50

yeah he's single handedly constructing an awesome garden. not sure how much longer yet, suppliers holding things up so he might have to stop for a bit.

he's never done anything on this scale before, but didn't want someone else to do it as that was a disaster last time. got a company in to do work in the house and it was awful. he knew he could have done better himself. so he's only had help for stuff he can't do like brick and concrete stuff. (awkward garden).

looking forward to DS1 having somewhere nice to play too and somewhere for us to drink wine.

right, DS2 asleep so i should be too.

thanks for listening to my moan! Thanks

Biscuitsandtea · 03/07/2012 22:52

Oh, btw, if anyone has a bit of spare brooking available, ds2 has his catheter kidney doodah tomorrow morning..... Confused

Biscuitsandtea · 04/07/2012 04:28

Can't sleep Sad

Ds2 woke me at about 3:30 but managed to self settle himself a few times, then I gave him a bit of a rock in the crib at about 4 and he's back asleep but now I can't sleep Confused.

I've got a sort of cold / sore throat thing going on and can't lie in bed tossing and turning and coughing up phlegm or I'll wake him again. Think I might make myself some hot lemon and honey.....

PetWoman · 04/07/2012 07:08

Pomme I love jelly babies.

Biscuits DS2 sounds utterly delicious (if a little frustrating when you're trying to feed him)!

Will post more...

PetWoman · 04/07/2012 07:16

Just catching up on the thread and posting as I read (otherwise I'll forget what I want to say) so sorry if this sounds random or disjointed:

Dream brilliant Ergo-buying reasons! We were given a second-hand bb which I've found easy to use for dog-walks but not very comfortable after a bit, quite apart from the crotch-dangling concerns. But DS is generally in it for less than 40 mins a day so i don't think it's a problem atm. I think I'll use Hawthers' link to invest in an Ergo once he's a bit bigger.

pommedechocolat · 04/07/2012 09:04

I was going to say the same pet - I reckon BB's and the like are perfectly safe for people like me who aren't convinced sling wearers and don't do it very often/for very long. If you use a sling a lot then I reckon the other types are better?

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 04/07/2012 11:23

Gosh, M is really sweating! Her hair is all wet. She's feeding with her eyes shut. Does anyone else's baby sweat? It doesn't feel hot in here to me.

Biscuits, am Brooking No Argument that E will be fine this morning and the test will be easy-peasy and show only good things.

Jaggy, the garden project sounds like it will be great when it's finished. Our garden looks like a jungle due to my lawnmower-breaking a couple of weeks ago, and due to the lack of any weeding of flower beds.

I got an email yesterday saying my Ergo was being posted then! Maybe it will come today. The postie hasn't been yet.

JenFraggle · 04/07/2012 11:33

My Ergo was sent out yesterday too Too. Post isn't here yet either today so we'll see who gets it first.

Biscuitsandtea · 04/07/2012 11:46

Ergo envy Envy

So, we're back. Test all done. No bladder reflux but the kidney is still bigger so most likely we'll have to have the test done where they put a radioactive dye through a cannula to check the kidney function. Too, M had this done did she not? Obviously good news that there is no reflux. Most likely diagnosis is that there is a kink in the tube out of the kidney, and most likely he'll grow out of that so it would just need monitoring.

Poor sausage though, the doctor couldn't get the catheter in so was faffing about a bit and ended up having to get her colleague to come and help. Lucky really as she said there are only 2 people in the hospital that do catheterising (of babies presumably Hmm) so good job the other chap was in! And his little face as it went in. I don't think it hurt exactly but he looked, erm, startled? ConfusedSad

Still, all done. Just need to see when they will do the other test now.

OP posts:
TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 04/07/2012 11:55

Oh good, Biscuits! Excellent news that there is no bladder reflux. Yes, M had the radioactive cannula test - the hardest bit was getting the cannula in because her veins were so small, but that was at 8 weeks, not 16. The test itself was a breeze because she slept through it.

Darn it, the postman came but with no Ergo! Maybe tomorrow.

scarletfingernail · 04/07/2012 11:56

Aww bless little E Biscuits, I'm not surprised he looked startled! Good news though. How's your cold today?

Have you taken M's temperature Too?

I'm shattered. Had 4 hours sleep which I know isn't bad compared to Dream, Scream etc, but it was all interrupted sleep and now I feel sicky tired. My own stupid fault for staying up late reading threads on here about neighbours spying through holes in walls Shock and freaking myself out as DH not here. Then DD decided as I was finally falling asleep that it was party time. Followed 2 hours later by DS having a bad dream and having to get into bed with him. Yawn...

Had friends round this morning. House now bombsite of toys.

So jealous of how much sleep he's been getting while he's not here>

Biscuitsandtea · 04/07/2012 11:56

Fingers crossed for ergo tomorrow Top. Maybe it's a bigger parcel so will come by can rather than foot-postie?

OP posts:
scarletfingernail · 04/07/2012 11:58

My Ergo came in a box and was delivered by a parcel postie in a van rather than regular one.

musicalmrs · 04/07/2012 12:13

Glad it went well Biscuits. I've never had a catheter, but I think it would startle me having one even knowing what it was - so a surprise one must be quite a shock!

Jaggy, the garden project sounds absolutely amazing! :) We need to do something to ours, but we have no time...

Too, Iz also sweats. I think it's because she's got her father's internal heating system rather than mine IYSWIM - I'm constantly cold and wear a zillion layers, whereas he wears hardly any! Iz seems to have my cold hands and feet, but she's always warm like him. I have a tendency to layer her up too much - especially early on before I realised this was the case. She sometimes gets wet hair - though that's often due to bringing up milk too...

Biscuits (and anyone else) - how do you tell that E has just woken up and needs resettling rather than being hungry? I know Iz just needs resettling if I've only just fed her, but other than that I'm a little clueless...

Pomme, how's A doing? :)

Went out for a walk to get some parking permits for the kitchen people next week (YAY!), and Iz has been asleep ever since! Have got tonnes of bits and bobs done online, hurrah! Now hoping she wakes up soon so I can play rather than have to do any more work..

Other than constantly checking for baby Ninja updates of course!

hawthers · 04/07/2012 12:15

Ah but pomme I use the ergo so much more as it is so easy to put on and so comfy!

Right need some help. In my head is decided to bf for at least 6 months if poss and give up bf by 8 months as DH and I are off to a wedding without children then. So now f is 6 months I've not made any efforts to wind things down. And not sure I really want to.

I tried so hard to get some level of successful bf with f mainly due to my issues with bf DS1. And there is a chance that this is my last baby. And it is so easy at night with our many wake ups.

But I think he may sleep better at night as I think the nights he does wake up are when he hasn't fed enough in the day. Plus I'll have to stop at some point as I'm back to work in 5 months. And then DH can do some feeds etc.

I guess I'm just after some pros and Cons to help me make a decision. Help please!

Wants3 · 04/07/2012 12:23

I am sooo looking forward to DH coming home at some point today. I need the adult interaction! The DS's are great but don't really want to hear my worries etc. At least I can come on here to worry about weight / talk about slings etc :)
too d often looks sweaty on the top of his head, I make sure he is only in vest plus 1 layer when feeding otherwise we both get too hot! It is muggy here today.

JenFraggle · 04/07/2012 12:28

Just weighed myself, 1/2 stone less than before I was pregnant :o
