We've got so good at brooking no argument for no pregnancy complications and sneeze births, we're going for our Phds in big fat babies

Thanks Biscuits, it's sweet of you to google this! I have come across that advice before, and most of it I'm doing, while other bits I've discussed with the imw and decided not to do. Every little helps! Just desperately waiting for my boobs to settle down. I get a little more gutted every morning when I wake up and the first thing I realise is that they still hurt just as much as before Sad

On the positive side, Autumn is still delightful. If you let her sleep right next to you she'll happily have 4 hours of sleep between feeds, which will be heaven if my boobs ever sort themselves out. Plus I'm grateful not to have any residual complications other than the SPD. Just got to wait out the bfing hell, and get back to my physio! First session next week.

How is everyone else this morning? Sending lots of No Brooking to Scarlet for a good staple removal appt. Also No Brooking for the twins to give Dream some sleep.

I hope all the other little babies are doing well? Ethan, Farley, Abbie, Jaggy's ds2 and Scarlet's dd? Also I hope Purple and her ds are okay? Big hugs to anyone I've missed out due to sleep deprivation brain!

pommedechocolat · 06/05/2012 09:48

scream - that sounds extreme bf hope it settles down soon.

dream - that also sounds extreme. I too would be leaving the no chocolate diet till last option... I think of you when I moan about sleep and feel silly for moaning as you have half the amount I do. You will however have double the fun in a few months time! Eye on the prize :)

pet - A was in her car seat, he scratched with his open hand closing in round her eye and I got there just as she shrieked so he moved back and I grabbed the car seat and then got her out. Everyone thought she was a really grumpy baby and that she'd just woken up like that as none saw :(

A has started feeding from both boobs sometimes now? too and biscuits - is this happening to you? She's also suddenly a bit more sucky and hasn't poohed for three days... Growth spurt? Developmental leap? Starting to see more pattern to her feeds and naps which is cool.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 06/05/2012 09:49

Oooo Pet please can you explain more about drugs causing bitterness to breastmilk?!?! I didn't know that was possible! Autumn seems to dislike my milk (scrunched up nose when she tastes it). Could it be because of the post-cs painkillers? Would they make the milk bitter?

How is your ds getting on today? Shall we both try the infacol today and see how our LOs get on?

pommedechocolat · 06/05/2012 09:49

sucky = sicky!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 06/05/2012 09:51

D'oh!! How is the gorgeous Maia as well?

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 06/05/2012 09:54

Have I already offered hugs to Pomme for the scratching? That sounds so upsetting! It's especially frustrating that the Mum didn't see/do anything, even though there's not much you could do to a toddler it would still be good to have his cruelty acknowledged and apologised for! Poor A!

jaggythistle · 06/05/2012 10:54

DS2 is fine thanks scream. he did decorate me slightly this morning by puking on my shoulder. then as i went to wipe his face he sneezed, coating both of us in sick. just after I'd washed his face.

he's currently having a mega feed.

in laws on way, i told DH to invite them to come in on their way home as they looked a bit gutted when we didn't stay for tea last night. we just couldn't face it with DS1 all grumpy after no nap and DS2 probably cluster feeding!

Biscuitsandtea · 06/05/2012 11:10
jaggythistle · 06/05/2012 12:02

disappointing lack of gems today. DS2 did puke lots of his mega feed over MIL's designer cardigan though Blush

PetWoman · 06/05/2012 12:45

Scream Grin at the extreme leakage! But oh dear - I really really hope your milk supply sorts itself out soon...

PetWoman · 06/05/2012 13:08

And Scream Sad I am no expert on drugs and bfing - I was just responding to Scarlet's post about her antibiotics - sorry.

Shall we both have a go at Infacol, then? And give it a couple of days before we give up on it in disgust?! My DS is well - thanks for asking! He seems to have grown (in bigger nappies and his first 0-3 months outfit today!) and possibly consequently, is feeding a lot...

So impressed by gorgeous Autumn's long sleeps - but what a pain for your full boobs!

Oh dear - DS is doing arching, writhing and squeaking on the breast... And has come off and done a little puke. Poor boy.

scarletfingernail · 06/05/2012 16:14

Thanks so much everyone for all the advice and hugs. I'm not feeling quite as wobbly today. My staples have finally been removed and it feels so much better already. DD has also been weighed again, she has only put on 1 ounce but I'm so relieved as I was fully expecting another loss because of her poor upset tummy. I guess I must be doing something right if she can maintain her weight through all this pooing.

Scream I hope things are also improving for you. Engorgement sounds very painful. I'm like you in that I don't enjoy BFing really and I'm just doing it because I know it's best for DD. I don't know how long I'll stick at it for, I just keep telling myself that every day I do it DD is benefitting (aside from the yukky nappies).

Biscuits I've only just read that your DS1 has chicken pox Sad Poor thing. I hope he's on the mend now, I guess you've been stuck in all week with the 2 of them which I can guess has been frustrating.

Dream Super Woman. I just don't know how you do it. One baby has knocked me for 6. I admire you so much and as for the amount of BFing you must be doing, just wow.

Pomme I would have struggled to remain calm if anyone scratched my baby. Sounds like you coped remarkably well. I shouted at a little boy once at soft play for pushing my DS over Blush

Will try and post again later.

Biscuitsandtea · 06/05/2012 16:58

Well done Scarlet and DD for a weight gain! As you say, with a poorly tummy she could have easily lost more weight so for it to be on the up is marvellous! Awesome job (can tell you're both brookers Grin)

Really glad the staples are out and it feels better - yay!!!

How are the boobages Scarlet - any less sore? Do you have lansinoh?

And yes, has been a BORING week stuck in the house! At least DS is not contagious any more so we can get out and about Smile

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 06/05/2012 18:44

Yay for Scarlet feeling better now the staples are out! Onward and upward, this is just the start of everything getting much better for you I hope! Let's see how long we can tough out this bfing malarkey together! Also, well done to your DD for her weight gain!

Jaggy Grin at your DS's puking antics. Autumn's been doing some of that. We went through four changes of clothes in one night a couple of days ago. Plus she waited for DH to put a fresh set of bed linen on our bed yday afternoon, before puking all over that too!

Pet have you managed to get going on the infacol? I keep forgetting it until after the feed has already started! Will definitely start using it this eve though, I feel extra guilty now when DD suffers wind, because I could have tried to help and I forgot!

Sooooo tired right now, the night shift is really starting to catch up with me. Hope everyone else is feeling ok.

pommedechocolat · 06/05/2012 18:45

Yay scarlet! Great work on the gain.

biscuits - not as good as jaggy's but my mil asked again tonight if a was sleeping through. What would have changed from Thursday?? Dh said 'nowhere near' which seemed to surprise her!

jaggythistle · 06/05/2012 19:13

pomme i was away to say did she not ask you the other day! mental. Shock
good on your DH!

scarlet really glad you are feeling an improvement and yay for dd's weight gain. you must be doing a great job to do that while you are both feeling so rough. i had a wound infection a couple of weeks after my cs when DS1 was born and had to take 2 lots of antibiotics. i felt so much better once they were finished. brooking for a speedy recovery!

dream i finally got on the pc, your boys are lovely. :) i was about 3 photos behind.

scream hope the boobs settle down soon. sounds ouchy. :(

hope you enjoy getting out soon biscuits!

em, further general brooking as I'm on my phone as usual!

jaggythistle · 06/05/2012 21:00

forgot the DS2 bum update. changed from yellow metanium to trying Kamillosan and it's looking a bit better. hope it heals up now as i hated seeing it so bad.

it just reminded me of poor wee DS1's nappy rash, he was actually bleeding by 3 weeks old due to his constant pooping. :(

speaking of poop, that's another nappy Grin

PetWoman · 06/05/2012 21:24

Bit of a bad afternoon here. DS fed almost constantly from noon till 5pm, with short breaks for winding, nappy changes and the odd brief doze. At 5pm DH sterilised a dummy and DS has been awake, sucking away ever since. DH keeps suggesting DS isn't getting enough milk, and even asked if I was 'drying up' :( . I told him it was probably a growth spurt and all the sucking was to stimulate better milk production - but if DS is sucking the dummy instead will this work? Frankly I was relieved when he took the dummy as my nipples were getting sore and I was fed up being stuck on the sofa! And surely if he's actually hungry, he'll spit out the dummy?

Also I've been meaning to start expressing all week, so we sterilised the pump and bottle at the same time as the dummy, and I had a go when DS finally released my boobs. And produced a grand total of 1.5oz, which is waiting in the fridge to be (hopefully) topped up tomorrow so it's enough for a full feed.

But DS hasn't slept for hours - he keeps startling himself awake (he has a tendency to do this, but nowhere near the amount he's been doing today). And he hasn't fed for over 4 hours now. What's going on???

Sorry this had been a me me me post. Glad things are looking up, Scarlet . Greetings to everyone else!

jaggythistle · 06/05/2012 21:58

it does sound like a growth spurt pet and to be honest i think you were doing the right thing (sorry pet's DH!) just going with it and are right to be concerned about a dummy when he's trying to up supply.

from what i remember last time round it is relentless when they feed and poo for that long, i think the 3 week one reduced me to tears with DS1! it does pass though, honest. :)

hopefully you know that you're not 'drying up' and that expressing is no indication of supply. maybe you can direct DH to Kellymom to read about bf and maybe help reassure him?

we've had a v busy feeding day too, think we might be getting towards the 3 week feeding frenzy...

pommedechocolat · 06/05/2012 22:12

Feed him pet when he wants it and don't worry about it as it will get better again. I too vote growth spurt!

As for the dummy 4 hours later with no sleep and your nipples feeling better I would personally take it out and feed him to sleep. That is just my opinion though...

Biscuitsandtea · 06/05/2012 22:22

I'd second (third?) what Pomme and Jaggy say Pet. Sounds like you're doing a great job, but it is one of those awkward stages that we just need to burn through. Hopefully it will all settle down soon and you and DS will get your rhythm back.

DreamingOfPeace · 06/05/2012 22:24

pet, mine both feed like that a lot. Constant til you think you can't carry on! It is just a growth spurt normally. Grit your teeth and chant This Too Shall Pass... I was told most babies would spit out a dummy if hungry, but I'm not using them so can't speak from experience. Overtired babies are hard work. Does rocking or the classic walk and jig get him to sleep? If its any help I've been nearly reduced to tears by DT2 screaming or feeding all evening- he's just dropped off on the boob and now i think I will cry as DT1 (who joined in both screaming and feeding for.a good hour or so) is looking like waking up :( And honestly, no, I can't wake him, I can't face any more crying or feeding now.

scarlet so glad to read your post.

scream, I had a friend with big leakage problems, it definitely does settle, chin up. Sounds grimbo.

DreamingOfPeace · 06/05/2012 22:26

That took me so long I missed pommes post. I'd definitely try to feed to sleep after 4 hours . Sorry. I'm no practical use, ever. I'm too tired to be useful.

DreamingOfPeace · 06/05/2012 22:29

Oh, and I'm wearing an arse shaped hole in my sofa.....

DreamingOfPeace · 06/05/2012 22:36

Great. DT1 is indeed up for boob.

Oh, and Dh re-read colief instructions... He says I can refridgerate and warm/ add colief as required. So just need sterile container/spoon and ebm in fridge Blush . Erm, don't let a severely sleep deprived person read the instructions?!
