He went again fifteen minutes later. Can everyone please cross their fingers as I really do hope he's done for this bout of it. He's wheezing but I'm hoping his inhaler has worked on the cough:(

seven77 · 25/03/2012 21:32

Argh what a day. DS has spent all day whining, DD has spent all afternoon screaming and DH was being a miserable arse this afternoon. He's on a split shift and DC's in bed so I can finally relax, knitting and probably a relatively early night before he gets home.

Aims for the week:
Hope DS behaves for speech therapist on Wednesday.
Ditto at appointment at Great Ormond Street on Friday.
Finish knitting this bloody cardigan I wish I hadn't started.
Drink vast quantities of tea, avoid eating vast quantities of chocolate and cake.
Try not to kill DH anyone

NorthernChinchilla · 25/03/2012 22:04

Legs, arms, fingers, toes, hair, eyelashes and everything else crossed for Octoboy.

I have eaten sooooo many biscuits today it's not true....

OiMissus · 25/03/2012 22:06

Hope Octoboy is better lmf.
happy Birthday msbuggy! sounds like you had a nice day! Good stuff!
We went to our nearest pub/restaurant place that has recently reopened after renovation. Very lovely and glamourous!
We drank wine in the sun and came back to eat. LO was ok whilst out, but was unsettled again for ages. Poor lamb. He's asleep now. Hope he's ok.
Tomorrow I'm going to work, then may visit a nursery, then baby massage.
Tuesday I have my mortgage appointment.
Wednesday I have the ultrasound scan to look for kidney stones or whatever it was.
Thursday is swimming, mum's then granddad's.
busy busy! When did I ever find time to work?

Xiaoxiong · 25/03/2012 23:31

Hello from the good old' USA! I'm sitting in my parents' flat with Pirran kicking on the floor, the dome of the Capitol in the distance and the presidential helicopter has just flown overhead.

The flight was 8 hours but we managed it fine and I think Pirran has got onto US time remarkably well without us doing anything at all - he slept loads last night all at the right time and is feeding brilliantly. I booked a skycot, and fed him all through takeoff and landing so his ears popped. The people sitting behind us said he was very good and they wouldn't have known he was there. Mission accomplished!

My mother is insisting on doing everything - to the extent of physically barging me out of the way so she can push the pushchair or change his nappy - so it was with great pleasure this morning that I watched her soldier through a nappy filled with the requisite litre of mustard paint Grin

Only odd thing here - there are loads of babies and small children in their neighbourhood but I have yet to see a single other person feeding in public. It's quite lonely and I've had some funny looks - even covered Pirran's head once with a muslin which I never would do in the UK!! Anyway there is a drop in breastfeeding centre next to my mum's gym so I am going there tomorrow to make sure I am actually allowed to feed in public (!) and if I can rent an electric pump - then DH and I can leave the peerless one with the grandparents for the evening, woohoo.

Also we took DH to the museum of American history today - he took great pleasure in bending over the pushchair hissing "look Pirran, traitors!" whenever there was an mention of the founding fathers, and sniffing about it being a museum full of treasonous propaganda. We got some funny looks Grin

LittleMissFlustered · 25/03/2012 23:58

Thanks for the twisted digits folks, he slept for two hours nd has just had a short feed:)

Belated birthday wishes msb

Enjoy your trip Tyel

I've just finished making the bits of my daughter's sodding bastarding panto costume (school play) that I can do without her being here to measure against. I also need to go to the shed and rescue tinsel but that can wait for daylight. I should have just bought one on eBay, though I'm not sure you can get panto ugly sister outfits in age 9 sizings? I shall doggedly continue butchering this dire 80's bridesmaid frock and swear. Lots. fuckityfucking bastarding arsewipe of a knobrash

I'm having serious need to go into recluse mode. I am fighting with myself, but I just want to hide in a big dark hole for a few weeks. Almost Easter, but I've promised the kids we'll have a couple of days out:(

Right. Off to bed clutching an armful of clean vests and the last vestiges of my sanity and energy. Wish me luck.

LittleMissFlustered · 26/03/2012 04:35

Three quarters of an hour on the nightshift and he's decided he doesn't actually want to feed, but the nipple isn't permitted to be more thn two inches way from his mouth or the world might end. I my have to leave him to it and go make a drink soon >_

aethelfleda · 26/03/2012 07:05

Hope you made ot through the night lmf

DS went down later than usual (9.30) but then astounded me bynforgetting to wake for his usual 1am feed and eoke at 5 so that's my first night with 7 hours sleep in a row since having him! I'm under no illusions it will last as he's 12 weeks tomorrow but very grateful for the recharge and it shows he can do it....

Glad you've survived the flight tyel and good luck with the feeding ettiquete!
Monday again, anyone up to anything nice?

We managed from 11.30 to 5.40 feel rather confused

msbuggywinkle · 26/03/2012 08:03

Morning!

tyel have fun!

lmf hope Octoboy is feeling better this morning.

seven hope you have a better day today.

My plans for the week...

Wave educational stuff near children.
An old school friend is coming round on Wednesday, she is pregnant with her 2nd and has decided to Home ed so wants a chat.
Seeing DD1's best friend on either Thurs or Fri.
Keep on top of the gardening.

seven77 · 26/03/2012 08:41

Thanks msb

Yay on the sleeping aethel and hawthers.

Terrible night here. I went to bed at 11 then Eva had me up at midnight. We came downstairs so she didn't wake DS, she was wide awake until 2, then she went in her basket while I slept on the sofa until she started waking at 6. So unlike her, I have every sympathy for everyone still doing night feeds, I'm exhausted today. I think a trip to the shop for chocolate and red bull may be required to get me through the day.

MissRee · 26/03/2012 09:31

I don't know if this will work but I just HAD to share this pic of Freya:

hawthers · 26/03/2012 10:04

Adorable missree!

F only just woken again. Really hope he has put on some good weight and we can keep this regime. He looks better on it - more rosey cheeked compared to before he was always rather pale.

Anyone else got a finger or thumb sucker? F has been sucking his fingers since literally day one. It means he can sooth himself but he is also trying to ram them in during a feed. Very frustrating for all concerned. I've had to hold his hands so he gets the boob and actually feeds.

mopsytop · 26/03/2012 10:10

Hi all. Big sympathies to thosecwuth broken nights. Moved minimopsy into her big cot (moved it into our room) last night and she woke up a lot crying the first few hours but then slept through! She slept way better in it, it must be a lot more comfy than the Moses basket. I got up at 2,4 and 5 to stick her soother in but that was all.

Now off down the park, it's a gorgeous day, like summer!

AnAirOfHope · 26/03/2012 10:20

Morning everyone Smile

Tyel - enjoy your trip, it sounds great. Where in the US are you?
MsB - Envy of your gardening skills. I really must try to plant keep alive some flowers in our garden.

Air has "red eye" and cant go to nursary or out anywhere so spending the day in the garden.
Lots of washing to hang out and i'm going to spring clean Grin

MissRee · 26/03/2012 11:33

hawthers freya sucks her fists and tries to ram them in with her bottle! Bibs and muslin are also rammed in at winding breaks too!!!

YBR · 26/03/2012 13:11

hawthers babyYBR sucks fingers most of the time, it gets in the way when feeding. She also spends time sucking her bib/jumpsuit or any toy/cloth to hand. Then there's the dribble on my clothes ...

Figgygal · 26/03/2012 13:42

Well we having another super clingy day here LO refuses to be put down Sad. I am taking him out for dinner tonight with some old work colleagues hopefully he won't be too disruptive. Today catching up on weekend tv and trying to get into a new feeding routine with his bigger bottles hoping can get him back to 3hrly feeds.

Like someone else here mentioned the other day I too have succumbed to the diet destroying pleasure of chocolate Philadelphia. I was eating it out of the tub with a spoon Blush it's amazing.

LittleMissFlustered · 26/03/2012 15:00

Cheese and chocolate is so wrong

We've had a slightly better day. Still lots of sick moments, but his cough is eased somewhat, though he is having to work hard to breathe. Not sure whether we're going to avoid the doctor this week, but we're trying. Will see how we go.

For those with fist chewers, he's down with that. As long as he avoids his thumb I can live with it, even if it does sometimes make feeding a pain >_

msbuggywinkle · 26/03/2012 15:43

well, Miri does anyway. She is teething like mad today, feeding all the time, grumpy as hell and her cheeks are red. Poor baby. Constant boob and sling is working atm, will resort to teething powders/calpol if it stops working though!

lmf hope the improvement continues.

I am MNing from the garden today, I have become addicted to the Draw Something app. Msbuggy if anyone else is playing!

Kitty5824 · 26/03/2012 16:09

I've got a thumb sucker. Well, the thumb goes in first, then he tries to get the rest of his fist in. Plus fingers from the other hand.

It's pretty impressive. He managed to get his thumb under the nipple shield earlier, so was trying to feed homself. Bless.

Off to the post office - my nephew finally has a name so I can post the card Grin

mopsytop · 26/03/2012 16:29

Another one here who tries to get her fist on her mouth, or both fists at once, and us constantly chewing them and drooling! She pushes her soother out and then cries!

CherryBlossom27 · 26/03/2012 16:32

Ah DS is chewing his forefinger constantly at the moment! Now he's figured out how to get his hand to his mouth there's no stopping him!

LittleMissFlustered · 26/03/2012 16:51

I've got the draw app working. If you're not my friend on Facebook my username is OctopusWrangler :)

AnAirOfHope · 26/03/2012 17:09

What is the draw app?
