missree I would like to care more about the slight possibility of toxicity in Sophie but as I am actually starting to get a little stressed/depressed with trying to only feed DD1 halal food I just don't have the energy.

oi we just took photos of the DDs on a white pillow case for their passports and it was accepted, with the added plus that DH "fixed" the photo to hide DD2s vomit all down her top. I find it fairly stupid that their Algerian passports insisted that they have their height and eyecolour on them, so as we got them at 2 months old they are already both very inaccurate.

aethelfleda · 28/03/2012 13:40

bee are you in an area where halal is tricky? Could you find a shop where you could buy in bulk and freeze? I guess if not then your easiest option is veggie, Or you could go online if it's not too expensive?

Arg. Have been trying to get DS to nap for over an hour so I can put the washing out but he's come over all clingy and cluster feedy.....sleep, child!!

Gah danny hates the heat hes been crying all morning everytime i think hes ok i put clothes on him again to attempt to go out and he freaks big time. He has not eaten as much today, wont take water and so is now sat just in his nappy chewing his hands. I think hes doing me a favour as i expect id just go out and spend money........his 3-6month clothes will not last long and some of it already doesnt (im looking at you tesco with your tiny clothes..... Up to 19lbs my backside) so now on the lookout for 6-9 months.

Have made the decision to sell my car today, i adore it its a little purple nissan figaro, its a 21 yr old japanese import look them up they fab. it has little bench type seats in back so lo car seat doesnt fit but we had accepted that he would have to go in front (no airbag) but you cant then get anyone behind the seat as cant push it forward enough with the seat strapped in. Dh was happy for us to keep it until he could go in next stage seat as he can then go in back and normal service can resume but ive decided to sell him (his name is willoughby Grin) as i cant afford to keep him with the inevitable costs of a 20yr old car and a baby. Most importantly pushchair goes in tonneau where roof folds into but if i put roof down theres nowhere for pushchair other than back seats which is fine at moment when just me and lo but wont be with 3 Sad. Ive never got how someone can love a car before but i do now and stupidly id rather sell him to someone who can look after him properly. Dh is already looking at sensible child friendly replacements Sad.

I've also been lurking. We were away for a few days, then DD picked up another sicky bug so I've just about managed to catch up now. No chance of a plu-style full catch up I'm afraid though!

Mopsy as Rash says, it's natural to feel guilty. I felt awful when DD first went to nursery, but it's done wonders for her development and social skills, and she loves it (to the point where yesterday morning when I turned the car round to come home rather than take her to nursery after she'd covered herself and the car in sick, she cried and asked for 'more nursery'!)

Oi I got DD's passport photo done at snappy snaps - they laid her on a white beanbag.

I'm also loving the funky giraffe bibs. Went a bit mad and bought 10 Blush but DS is so dribbly now it seems justified. I love the skull and crossbones ones!

I've also had a productive morning, been to Tesco and cleaned the house. Going out soon to plant trees for DD and DS. As part of Jubilee celebrations, every child in the village school as well as all the babies and toddlers in the tots group has a tree, which will have name plaques so they'll be able to watch them grow over the years Smile. Then on to swimming class with DS, before collecting DD from nursery.

aethelfleda · 28/03/2012 14:49

I think it's the heat here too figgy....squeezing in another feed before school pickup. This winter baby thing is weird, I think they are used to layers and snowsuits now, so light clothing feels strange to them!

Ps new thread title anyone?

It's Spring Jim, but not as we know it?

Bye bye moses basket, hello teeth?

OP posts:
OiMissus · 28/03/2012 17:50

Head-bashing, sleep crashing, teeth gnashing babies.
(my thread idea)
My ultrasound scan showed no gall or kidney stones. All is normal looking, so bob only knows what caused the pain.
We've spent all day tidying the back garden. It was a mess, typical for a rented property I guess. I've been raking the moss off the lawn and my back is broken. Sad
Thanks all for ideas for passport photos. I may look up a shop which will do it for me.
Ali was up every 2 hours last night.
But highlight will be that DH is back later this evening. Hurrah!
I think I may get a cheeky glass of White wine for the last of this sunshine. Shhh!

OiMissus · 28/03/2012 17:53

Disjointed post? Just a bit! I blame Alexander Armstrong.
Anyway, I meant to say that the garden is now nice enough to sit out in. But there's no sun after 5pm.

BeeMyBaby · 28/03/2012 18:50

aethal we already have to bulk buy the meat but in my ignorance I had never checked labels for cheese/chocolate/yoghurt and who knows what else, which I've recently started to suddenly realise that so much of it is not suitable for vegetarians and although I know it won't kill DH or DD1 if I'm not sure about something I've given them (for example ricotta and spinach pasta from tesco, don't think its ok) I get this gut wrenching guilty feeling that I'm poisoning them. Not sure how long I can cope with living here, I'd rather live somewhere where food was default halal (the guilty feeling is that bad). Plus there was slight eyebrows raised at the mosque playgroup that I go to that I don't eat 100% halal when bfing or when I was pregnant. Sorry, weird outburst over.

I would like very much to concentrate on something like teething or baby clothes instead. C'mon DD2 please start teething...

aethelfleda · 28/03/2012 19:12

Ah, gotcha, one of DD1's schoolfriends is a practising Muslim and I nearly gave her non halal milkshake as had not occurred to me that Crusha syrup could possibly have gelatin in! Fortunately I realised in time so didn't have to fess up to her mum! Agree it's annoying that veggie food isn't always well labelled...

Am at end of my tether today, after DS being clingy and dribbly all day the DDs were mostly fine but staged rebellion at bed time. Fortunately DH has come home and taken over the last bit of storytime so I can hide feed downstairs and psych myself up to cook dinner. This too shall pass, right?

December 2011: Rocking and rolling, in the sun we are strolling.

Having a rough couple of days. Almost the holibobs though, my inner hermit is screaming to be indulged:)

OiMissus · 28/03/2012 21:20

How about "leaking poo but not sleeping through"?
Nah, too miserable.
"April drools!"

BeeMyBaby · 28/03/2012 21:42

Love April drools!

MissRee · 28/03/2012 22:04

Given that our threads only seem to last a couple of weeks before being full, I'd go with "April Drools"!

Rashkakeller · 28/03/2012 22:23

April drools hahaha love it!!

Lmf, hope your ds is getting better and you get through this rough patch soon

Kitty5824 · 28/03/2012 22:31

April Drools - love it!

Have had chat with DH, we are going to respond to all future "helpful" advice from family (both sides!) by smiling and nodding and saying "hmm, maybe we'll give that a try if whay we're doing doesn't work..." and will specifically speak to SIL when we move.

Thanks for re-assuring me I wasn't over-reacting.

Anyone else missing the baby smell when they're covered in sun cream? Maybe I need to sniff test the cream rather than buying the cheapest Grin

mopsytop · 29/03/2012 07:02

Oh dear, put minimopsy in a mother ease with booster and rikki wrap for the night and she's absolutely wet through, vest, sleepsuit, grog, cot sheet. I feel terrible for not checking her during the night. Orbiter didn't occur to me because the pampers never leaked. She was a but upset just now :( so far the tots bots, bumgenius and motherease have all leaked and she hates being in the little lambs. So not doing very well - I didn't realise it'd be this hard to find ones that work and are comfy.

Headache has not abated :( prob a mix of period hormones and stress about leaving minimopsy at nursery. Giving into tears last night won't have helped!

mopsytop · 29/03/2012 07:03

Not grog, grobag!

aethelfleda · 29/03/2012 07:29

mopsy, It may be that the nappies are doing something called "wicking" where a bit of cotton or liner is peeking out of the edge of the wrap: the moisture then draws through that bit to leak. It can occur with night nappies as baby wiggles down in the grobag/cot. I'd suggest going back to disposables overnight just for now (you've got enough going on!) and then have a try in the day to get the fit sorted so you have a reliable brand.
The best way to prevent wicking is to put the nappy and wrap on, then run your finger around each leghole and then the waistband to check that the wrap has covered over the nappy and its not sticking out. Oncethe wrap is covering over the cloth nappy it shouldn't then be able to work its way out.

Easter assembly this morning

Thanks aethel, will give that a try!

msbuggywinkle · 29/03/2012 08:11

Morning!

Typically, the day we have forest school and tis all grey. I was up 6 times in the night. Four times for Miri, twice to wake DP to sort out the others. [coffee]

I like 'April drools' too!

kate their own trees! That is lovely.

I'm looking forward to the weekend. Spending Saturday getting my hair dreadlocked, 7 hours of not moving! I plan to have a glass of wine, chocolate and watch films.
