kitty, I'd have been FURIOUS about Mr. Whippy! Not only is it dairy, but you're not supposed to eat it when pregnant because of risk of listeria, which wd be also a risk for a baby. Also, whatever anyone's crazy opinions on weaning, it is your baby so therefore your choice. It's like the name thing. What makes her think she has any say? Grrrrrrrrr!! V annoyed on your behalf! I am not as diplomatic as you. It's frustrating for you but maybe not a bad thing to keep the peace cos I'm guessing she won't change her opinions no matter what. I'd probably have had a big row with her and caused lots of tension which probably wouldn't be helpful.

mopsytop · 27/03/2012 06:47

Oh, and (sorry for multiple posts), in simultaneously TMI and me me me post, I'm on my second period since having minimopsy, bang on schedule which us a good thing I suppose, although I have quite a short cycle so it's annoying but everyone always said periods tend to improve after pregnancy and mine are just as heavy/painful/long as ever (last over a week). I'm fuming!

aethelfleda · 27/03/2012 07:16

Mopsy, have you considered one of these ? If you're not TTC.they are fab for making periods loght/nonexistant ( if you can put up with 2-6 months light spotting on a panty loner while it settles in). Not everyones cuppa but I had one and it was great!

Off to buy some chocolate Grin

BeeMyBaby · 27/03/2012 07:45

kitty do you think its too late to bring it up with your SIL to make sure she doesn't do it again? Or ask your DH to?

scooby my DD2 is coming on 17weeks and although she has gone almost 5 hours once, she now feeds 2 hourly day and night as she won't cluster feed. I love sugary coffee and coke, ugh.

fusam when getting DD1 onto a bottle as there wasn't an option due to returning to work, I latched her on and waited till she was mid feed then flicked to a nicely warmed bottle of expressed milk, it took a few tries but worked eventually.

So basically back to pre pregnancy weight after my bug, yay vomiting bug! Now I've just got to keep my portions down somehow - as I was a bit heavy at that point anyway.

Girl I went to school with (and that I have been stalking on facebook :P) is a dancer - at 9 months pregnant could still do the splits - had her baby on Thursday and pictures from the weekend show no evidence of any tummy whatsoever, you wouldn't believe she had a brand new baby bar the baby in the pram.

BeeMyBaby · 27/03/2012 07:48

kitty those studies alway tend to be about dark chocolate, I'd rather eat no chocolate at all than dark chocolate

BeeMyBaby · 27/03/2012 07:50

and I think we need a new thread soon, name suggestions?

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 27/03/2012 07:59

Sky has got a cough and keeps sneezing Sad she seems okay and only drank 28oz milk yesterday - slightly concerned about her cough and lack of milk. she went 8pm to 1pm where she drank about 3-4oz then woke again at 7:30am and not interested in drinking the remainder of her bottle - should I be worried? Think maybe a GP appt in order.

msbuggywinkle · 27/03/2012 08:32

kitty I admire your restraint. I would have been a raving harpy!

Bad night here, was my evening to do DD1 and she didn't sleep until midnight. Miri was then up once and DP woke me up when he was getting up at 6am.

So today I will be mainlining coffee, and doing boring housework.

dsm hope she improves quickly.

Mmmmcheese · 27/03/2012 08:48

scooby I often feel like the only one still doing loads of night feeds and not feeling like anything is actually improving. I think thetre are a few of us still! DS was sleeping through by now but I'm still doing around 3 night feeds and am up for ages winding after each one as well :(

itsybitsy08 · 27/03/2012 10:16

hI ladies, another one still on the night feeds and DS is nearly 16 weeks. I have DD who is 4 and I have to get to nursery in morning so I lurk more on the nightshift now, the phone screen hurts my eyes to post.

Ds goes to bed ay 8 usually in cot by 9. Then up around 12.30 & 1.30. Feed for around 1/2 to 1 hour. Then we are lucky if he goes another 2 hours. O usually give up around 5ish and he comes in bed with me for an our or so till we get up.

I just go to bed when he does, me and dp get no child free time together (dd bed at 7.30) never mind.

DS is also a bottle refuser. Have tried all sorts but seems not to be. Just as DD was.

Again never mind we are all happy and healthy and the sun is shining so all is good in the world :)

hawthers · 27/03/2012 10:24

Sorry you guys aren't getting sleep. It does just seem to be luck as to whether they sleep well or not.

The experiment continues over here and DS2 slept from 00.30 to 7.10! Unfortunately DH woke me at 4 as he is really really stressed with work and needed some wifely chat - poor thing. Yet to see how all this sleeping will affect his weight gain. Dietitan appt tomorrow and will just do what they say. I've fought the bf battle long enough and if they suggest something that could mean the end of bf for us I just can't justify fighting it any longer. We made it to 3 months and I'm reconciled to it now.

Thanks for all the comments re the stuttering. I was fairly sure its just a phase but will look at that pdf when I get onto the laptop later aethelfleda

bee yey for food poisoning (sort of) its how I managed to shift the last few pounds last time. Think I might have to go shopping for a dodgy boots sarnie...

Right off to channel dsm and do some cleaning, sorting and ironing. Although it is rather nice sitting in the sun with a cup of tea hmm might just have another cup before I start.

seven77 · 27/03/2012 11:35

Morning.

kitty I'd have been beyond fuming.

dsm that's about all Eva drinks most days, she's only on 4 feeds a day since she gave up her late feed. Go to your GP or ring the HV if you're worried.

I'm starting to think we could be ready for weaning soon. The last few days she's taken her full 8oz feed in the morning, this morning she was still ravenous though, I put on another bottle and she took another 3oz. She's fine the rest of the day though and doesn't usually finish any other bottles. I'll leave it a bit longer and see what happens, I just don't like her having 11oz though, she's such a sicky baby I know if will come back up at some point!

HoneyLovesCake · 27/03/2012 11:40

Hey ladies...I'm back from my lurking :) A few days of glorious sunshine & I'm feeling pretty good. That being said DP is taking the sleeper train to London tonight & is flying to Goa in the morning & I'm feeling pretty nervous about 7 nights on my own as DS has just developed sleep issues; waking lots more than usual to nurse & staying awake (babbling, kicking, grunting & shouting) for hours >_< from around 3 am. DP has been taking him downstairs while he has brekkie & gets ready for work to give me 30-40mins extra sleep...I'm not looking forward to losing that :( I guess I'm really going to have to try to nap when he does Hmm

I have a question for those of you who already have a jumperoo...I can't decide whether or not to get one Confused Rocco loooves being bounced by me but he's getting so heavy now I thought it'd be the ideal solution. However, I did some online research & read that pediatric physical therapists aren't keen & if you do use them suggest you limit use to 20mins per day. I still think it's worth buying but I have a feeling that he just won't be satisfied with 20mins. Do any of your LOs fuss when you take them out? Also, do they fold down at all to put away or do you just have to have them up all the time...I've checked the measurements & it'll take up a lot of floor space in my little cottage.

DS is a finger sucker but I'm trying to discourage it as my thumb sucking was a really hard habit to break as a child...not having much luck though. He's been very drooly for a while now & I've been thinking of getting him some amber teething beads...can anyone recommend a supplier? There seem to be lots on ebay that are very cheap but I'm worried I'll end up with plastic or the wrong sort of amber; I think it's supposed to be Baltic??

kitty if it's possible I would ask your DH to have word about the Mr Whippy just so she knows it's not ok to do it again.

In other news my buttery soft leather alexandra bee changing bag & my first woven wrap arrived yesterday transforming me from tired poo & puke covered mummy to yummy mummy Grin Both ebay bargains...I do not have £250 to spend on a bag but I probably would if I could...it's bloody gorgeous!

Oooh, gotta run...poosplosion!

HoneyLovesCake · 27/03/2012 12:22

On the subject of weaning...we're going to try baby led I think. I found video which is too cute...hopefully we'll find the time to do something similar :)

mopsytop · 27/03/2012 12:44

Hi honey! glad you're doing well! Hope all goes ok when your husband is away :(

I am thinking of getting a Phil and Teds ( she is getting fed up of pram and wants to be sitting up I think). Anyone have one? The vibe is two hundred quid more than the explored, anyone know the difference?

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 27/03/2012 12:48

Thanks Ladies Smile
Spoke to doc and he wanted me to take her down as Darcie is severe asthmatic and had bronchiolitis as a baby so wanted to check Sky out - she has just got a chesty cough & cold and to keep an eye on her and picture how poorly Darcie was and if Sky's like that then to bring her straight back down.

Hawthers Sending cleaning vibes your way Grin

I've hoovered, cleaned the bathroom, got a load of washing on to be put on the line as a gorgeous day. All rooms are tidy and Sky is asleep so going to sit with a nice cuppa and get Sky's Bumbo out of the box as my cousin kindly gave hers to us as her youngest who is 9 months old doesn't like it anymore Smile

I had my nails done this morning as a treat to myself feel sooo nice Grin

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 27/03/2012 12:49

Mopsy I don't have a Phil and Teds. I have a Maclaren Techno XLR and is fab for sitting up and reclining back Smile

mopsytop · 27/03/2012 12:53

Oooh wd love to get my nails done dsm. Glad sky seems ok-ish.

I have all my trial non disposables drying in the sun for round 2 of trials. She only pooed in one and it leaked. It was either bumgenius or totsbots, must make a note next time. So I need her to poo in the others to check their containment. As she only poos 1x a day this cd take a while!!!

msbuggywinkle · 27/03/2012 13:00

honey great video! I'll be BLW again, have done it with both of the other creatures and it is fun! I think Miri might be ready a bit earlier than the other two though, DD1 was 9mths, DD2 7mths.

seven77 · 27/03/2012 13:12

mopsy I don't know the difference but ibave an explorer and I love it, I wouldn't bother buying the more expensive one.

Off out to the library as its such a gorgeous day, too nice o stay inside hoovering! :o

AnAirOfHope · 27/03/2012 14:58

OiMissus · 27/03/2012 17:29

I had my mortgage appt today and it took forever. I expected to be away 2 hrs total so hadn't expressed. I was out fir4 hrs. Ali was in a state. He doesn't mind formula or bottles - he's has different types twice before. Mum had some in just in case - the right stuff -but he refused it and screamed the place down. Sad
I'm going to have to get him used to bottles. Of expressed milk for wheni go back to work in 4 weeks, and get him used to formula for days when I've not expressed enough.
he doesn't sleep through. He'll wake for a feed once or twice.
To kill 2 birds with one stone, benny suggested using formula for his late night feed as it may fill him more to sleep through. DH could do this whilst I express to build up stores. It may be worth trying short term.
Btw the appt went well, I am borrowing the max but it should be ok. If it's turned down we'll reapply aaa couple. I'm applying on my own as DH has another mortgage and has been rubbish unable to get the details together. Thebplan is to put him onthe mortgage later when he sells his house and puts in some equity. This suits me fine.
DH is still away tonight with work. He has asked to reduce his hours to 4 days then we won't need extra childcare. They are considering it...

mopsytop · 27/03/2012 18:44

Glad the appt went well Oi.

honey, what's the science behind Amber beads? I don't understand how they could work but I have a friend who swears by them and says they really helped her babies dribbling.

hawthers · 27/03/2012 19:09

So the cleaning got ditched and I went to meet nct friends for lunch in the sun and ended up staying there for 4 hours oops Blush
