Morning! ish anyway.

I self-imposed an internet ban this morning to get stuff done. So I feel very productive and have also booked myself in to have dreadlocks done (been thinking about it for ages).

Had a lush lunch too, croissant with fromage frais, sundried tomatoes and thyme from the garden. Followed by an unsophisticated Penguin

aethel Totally agree, a 4/6mth review would catch a lot of PND too I imagine.

NC I went to a city farm for my last birthday, I had more fun than the DDs!

Purple book is hilarious. Possibly it would work better if they were supplying them to babies for intra-utero reading.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 23/03/2012 13:33

No apology just told me I was being stupid & petty :(

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 23/03/2012 13:51

Sky has had her first little giggle today :) has made my day Grin

hawthers · 23/03/2012 14:30

Was def better not setting the alarm last night and ds2 woke at 3.40 rather than 3 and 7.15 rather than 6.30. But I do feel much better not setting an alarm. Have made DS1 go for an earlier nap today as he was such a pita yesterday. A fair bit of initial resistance but after the fourth return to his bed it seems he has stayed there - a small success for today

BeeMyBaby · 23/03/2012 14:44

Got our super expensive giraffe in the post and after well and truly winding the dogs up with it, DD1 has taken it with her to nap (she also had a freak out in the car that the giraffe needed to poop), so I'm feeling a bit sorry for DD2.

Also went to the M&S sale as somehow even though I'm still BFing, I seem to have shrunk to my non-BFing size 36B, where as last time I stayed a 36D/DD until I finished, so its getting expensive - no idea what I will have shrunken to by the time I'm done.

Anyone else having to drink more caffeine than pre-pregnancy just to get through the day? I feel as if I'm about to fall asleep :(

jigglebum · 23/03/2012 16:47

Hi - thanks for the info aethel - I have mentioned it to my GP, once in pregnancy and at the 6 week check and she said to do pelvic floor for 3 months and come back then, so I guess I should make an appointment. We are in Dorset and I know they have a physio referral for it here but the thought is rather cringe worthy but should bite the bullet and go. I was waiting till I went back to get the pill anyway but as DH and I are yet to DTD I havent been back yet. After DS was born we only waited about 4 weeks before DTD but this time I don't have the inclination or time. If he were to be a bit nicer to me I would feel more inclined! We don't get given the purple book here , due to budget cuts - just get given the web site.

Beautiful day here. Had a meeting with DS preschool keyworker this morning - he is doing well and then DS, Freya and I went off to lovely village near here for a walk (freya in sling, DS on his balance bike), fed the ducks, stopped in a nice cafe and played in the playground there. All very nice and both kids well behaved. It is quite a posh village and some sweet old lady (lady of the manor type) in the cafe (sorry tea rooms) told me she thought I was marvellous being out and about walking with the 2 of them - quite made my day!

bee I have a coke every day just to survive - I dont drink tea or coffee.

mopsytop · 23/03/2012 16:54

gorgeous day here! Just walked 10k through the woods-lovely!

Hope annoying/lazy/selfish/ partners all get reality checks in time to be super helpful this weekend ...

LittleMissFlustered · 23/03/2012 18:15

It is the weekend. I am being a hermit until Sunday morning at the earliest.

aethelfleda · 23/03/2012 19:02

DDs are goggling at The Crystal Maze on youtube "It's better than jungle run!"

Had a lovely birthday thanks nc. I find that when it's a beautiful day, lack of sleep fades into the distant memory. The zoo was great fun and it was great to catch up with my old NCT friends. As I'm the only one with 2 it also meant I had extra pairs of hands to help me juggle my DSs. Unfortunately thst's as far as the celebrations go. No phone call from DH (there's a comms blackout due to ongoing incidents). No family near by, so it's off to bed once the boys asleep (DS1 is currently singing himself to sleep!).

dsm sorry to hear that you're being let down by your OH. When you're feeling down take yourself outside and get some of that glorious sunshine.

jiggle I'm a physio (though not a woman's health one) and there's nothing to feel funny about. Be reassured that they have chosen and trained to do that job and so will be able to help you without an ounce of ill ease.

Right, both boys asleep. Time for a hot choc and a Birthday cup cake then off to bed.

MissRee · 23/03/2012 20:03

Ha! I was watching Fun House with Pat Sharpe earlier Aethel!!

mopsytop · 23/03/2012 20:04

I made shortbread today from Delia's 'How to Cook'. First attempt ever, bizarrely, given how much I like baking. V bad for my supposed diet but Oh My! Scrummy scrummy! And so simple to make! And I DID walk 10k pushing a pram after all!

Glad you'd a nice bday scooby!

aethel, crystal maze! Goodness, that brings me back a bit! And makes me feel old :) used love it!

LittleMissFlustered · 23/03/2012 20:04

Crystal Maze rocks aethel, though the hairstyles on the contestants haven't aged well >_< I had the theme as my ringtone for many years:)

Right, octopus is chesty do I'm in bed already as I anticipate a bad night. Egg decorating for school competition tomorrow, so we can have a nice relaxed day... Please?

mopsytop · 23/03/2012 20:06

And oops, sorry got a bit over enthusiastic with the exclamation marks there!!!!!!!!!!! But it IS Friday after all. So a bit of over-the-top enthusiasm is allowed ...

mopsytop · 23/03/2012 20:07

Hope octopus boy is okay lmf!

jigglebum · 23/03/2012 20:21

God I am knackered tonight. a busy day but I can't really complain about the amount of sleep I am having. Freya has turned into an incredible sleeping girl. I think it may be that she is still a bit ill. Only 2 changes of clothes though today due to puke so perhaps she is on the mend a bit. Sat with a glass of wine watching sport relief, reminding myself how lucky I am, (despite Dh still being annoying)

Glad you had a good birthday scooby and thanks for the reassurance re the physio.

Hope your octopus boy is ok lmf

Forecast for the weekend is great - hopefully we'll get out and about and perhaps do something about the garden. We have friends coming on Sunday for the day and hope to go down to the coast for a walk/play on the beach.

msbuggywinkle · 23/03/2012 20:22

Love old TV aethel my DDs are fascinated by the Crystal Maze too!

Miri and DD2 are asleep, DD1 still bouncing. DP and I had an argument, well, I got cross with him anyway as he came in and started telling off the DDs without even saying hello and was grumpy with them all evening. Meh. I am much more chilled as a parent than he is, he cares about mess, I don't, but really all it was was that DD2 was being a bit daft with her gherkin and it fell on the floor. Really no reason to give her a lecture.

aethelfleda · 23/03/2012 20:55

Time for bed, said Zebidee...

Figgygal · 23/03/2012 20:57

Well Danny has cried pretty much all day today his eat, fun, sleep routine has gone right out the window he had a 20 min sleep in am, a 2and half hour Confusedsleep at lunch then nothing until just put him down now. Mirages if he too hot, hungry or uncomfortable as his tummy been not right last couple days.

Damn the heat I haven't got Any 1 tog sleep bags yet and it's 23 degrees in his room tonight. Have opened window and our him to bed in his bodysuit and a pair of thin
Shorts wrapped in the thinnest blanket we have. I've semi swaddled him so he's on top of it and so can't get too caught up in it.

Well done on the walk mopsy that's an amazing effort.

NorthernChinchilla · 23/03/2012 22:12

Aaaargh, post just got eaten!

figgy, my DS's routine is starting to change too, he went four hours this afternoon without a sleep. As they develop the patterns change, and it's crappy when they're going through an 'adjust' phase. I'd just got used to the eat, play, sleep thing too, dammit.

Curry for us tomorrow aethel, am going to order garlic naan and be damned. And yes, Crystal Maze (and Fun House, woo) takes me back... However, has anyone seen the latest Natwest advert, about the grown ups reminiscing about the Pig Family piggy banks, but now the little girls are saving too? I can't be the only one who has those pigs (all five Blush) and is feeling truly ancient every time I watch the advert...

And thank-you MsB for the funniest image/sentence of the week, DD2 being daft with her gherkin Grin! Hope your DP's chilled out a bit now. And photos of the dreads would be good!

So glad it was a good birthday scooby, but sorry your DH was incommunicado. It sounds like everyone had fun.

DS was cheery and charming round at friend's today; she's a gran and has two grandsons, 2 and 4, so is well used to it all. He was teething-y today, and covering her in drool, and also doing his vampire baby act on her finger- the feel of the teeth took her quite by surprise!

plutocrap · 23/03/2012 22:22

Here's something to cheer everyone up for the weekend!

LittleMissFlustered · 24/03/2012 00:19

Not liking the noises the octopus is making. He's had two puffs of his inhaler and has calmed down a little. Going to give it five then give him another puff. We will not let this damn virus beat us:(

scoobyd00 · 24/03/2012 01:22

lmf crossing everything for you that octopus boy's breathing has settled.

aethelfleda · 24/03/2012 02:35

hope octoboy settles with that inhaler lmf....

nOrthen: teeth? Actual brokem through, or just on the way? My DD1 got her first two at just under 4 months, and razor sharp they were, kinda curtailed thr BFing for me as she kept biting, I stuck it out for a few weeks then moved to a mix of expressing and formula as my nipples kept beimg savaged (one still has a scar!!) DD2 was blissful with no teeth til eight months. dS is niw drooling so think he'll be early like DD1. many hanks for whoever recc'd the funky giraffe bibs, I have 4 in the post.

Glad good bday scoob, and hope you get to speak to DP very soon.

Is your car fixed yet plu?

Really missing social media and surfing for Lent, only 2 weeks til easter!!! It's a bit like dieting, facebook and BBC news are the sites I miss most, not surfing the rest of mumsnet is a pain too. My intermet shopping is allowed but again only on a need-to-buy basis.... Roll on Easter!

OP posts:
mopsytop · 24/03/2012 02:35

lmf, hope octoboy's breathing improves. That must be so stressful and scary for you both.
