It's so misty here tonight... The street lamp outside the window makes me think of Narnia!

LittleMissFlustered · 24/03/2012 03:41

Thanks guys. He's wheezing and bubbling, but not as bad as he was. He'll wheeze all night I think.

Randomly I can smell tuna mayo sandwiches. There is no tuna or mayo in the house.

hawthers · 24/03/2012 03:55

lmf hope octopus boy is ok. Summer is on its way so hopefully this will kick the virus on its arse.

No alarm set over here again and f woke at 3 ish again so must have been total wishful thinking that he would sleep for longer. Oh well at least I don't have to wake him up which was soul destroying.

plutocrap · 24/03/2012 04:32

Just peering in, on my nightshift.

Poor wheezy octopus baby. Sad

AnAirOfHope · 24/03/2012 06:07

An hour so far and still feeding. Air had a nightmear about Hope not being here and he had to check that she was still here and safe. He wake up crying and shouting for her.

AnAirOfHope · 24/03/2012 06:10

Lmf hope baby is better. My brother has asthma and was in hospical one week each month. Its so not nice for them.

aethelfleda · 24/03/2012 06:38

Hope he is perky again this morning lmf. slso hope that the tuna smell has gone! As a random aside, when people are ill they can smell funny: the classic one they teach at med school is that when people are septic and can't eat, or are ill disbetics, they smell like acetone (pear drops, or nail polish remover). Half of the population can't smell it but half can (weird genetic thing!)

LMF Hope Octoboy is okay this morning.

Air Bless him. Did Air settle back to sleep ok?

Aethel I loved Crystal Maze & Fun House as a child, makes me feel old. Went on a family holiday to Wales as a child and we went to the crystal maze and we played each zone & the dome was brilliant Grin

I went for a lovely walk into our local town in the glorious sunshine to calm down and was brought lunch as a sorry Smile

So ladies who on the South coast is up for a meet up in the Easter Hols?

LittleMissFlustered · 24/03/2012 07:16

He seems cheerful, thank you:) Stoll wheezing like a half-boiled kettle though:(

I didn't know about the acetone smell 'thing', but did know that only a certain percentage of the population can smell cyanide. I wonder how many things out there are only olfactoraly available to a few with the right genetic quirks?

AnAirOfHope · 24/03/2012 08:48

I find genetics intresting. Maybe some people can see ghost or see the future due to a gerentic link? Sorry im into the parsnormal i will stpp beong strange now!

Air went back to sleep after he checked on Hope he is a good sleeper.

mopsytop · 24/03/2012 08:57

dsm, if it makes you feel old that you watched crystal maze as a child, I watched it as a teenager!!!

Kitty5824 · 24/03/2012 08:58

I just wanted to say I love this thread. The way we lurch from baby poo to fun house to olfactoral availability!!

Gorgeous sunshine here in south manchester. We're going to watch the GP qualifying then we're off to Bamber Bridge to try to locate DH's maternal ancestry. But having a long detour home via crosby by to see the gormley sculptures on the beach and fish and chips for tea at the seaside!

CherryBlossom27 · 24/03/2012 09:03

Hi all,

DS had wind so was having a good old groan and wriggle in his cot from 3am onwards, I did a nappy change at 4am and hoped he would go back to sleep after and that being picked up might help some wind out...no such luck! DH did a feed at 5am and then DS slept til 8am. 8am is a lie in really except DH was going to get up and he's having my lie in as 'I've only had 3 hours sleep' - grrr!

Anyway I need to do a bit of tidying up and then sterilise the bottles and clean the bathroom as we've got two friends coming round this afternoon and then another four this evening...I really can't be bothered at the moment, but I'm sure I'll enjoy it when they get here :)

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 24/03/2012 09:08

Mopsy I was a teenager - I'm not a spring chicken now at 29 which I'll now be forever Grin

seven77 · 24/03/2012 09:19

Morning.

lmf hope the octopus is ok.

It's our 5th anniversary today but DH is at work. My mum is babysitting tonight while we go out for dinner.

I downloaded a brilliant app yesterday, it's draw something free.
If anyone fancies a game I'm lexeva.

AnAirOfHope · 24/03/2012 09:20

DSM im going to be 30 next month eek. I remeber crystal maze from a teenager as well.

Hope is on my bed trying to roll over and the boys have gone out to get breakfast then we are having a pirate day wiyh daddy. I will be doing houswork.

mopsytop · 24/03/2012 09:23

My nappy bucket and liners have now arrived so can finally start trying the nappies-woo! aethel, do you use a booster in the motherease? It doesn't come with one. Not the extra dry type, the normal type (extra dry hasn't arrived yet as waiting for a delivery-why does it say in stOck then!? So annoying!)

BeeMyBaby · 24/03/2012 09:44

DD1 gave me her D&V bug, after going to bed with cramping I ended up vomiting 4 times between 2-6am, so I'm off food for the day to try to get rid of it, hoping it will help me shift a kg (there must be a bright side to every bad thing).

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 24/03/2012 10:45

Bee Hope you feel better soon.

Seven We play that. DP & I were creased up laughing with ours & friends attempts at drawing Grin

mopsytop · 24/03/2012 11:09

Oh dear bee :( hope it clears up fast.

dsm, I'm 34 eeeekkk! Oh well, older but wiser. Supposedly! Still feel about 17 inside.

Another non-disposable nappy question-it makes her legs splay more than a disposable-she's like a little frog. Is that normal? It looks unnatural to me and potentially bad for her?

Also another question I keep meaning to ask and forget: the back of her head is really very flat. Will this improve? I asked the hv and she said not to worry but then asked had a doctor seen it. Which immediately DID make me worry. But don't want to be the crazy over-protective worried first time mum always down annoying the GP with daft concerns ...

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 24/03/2012 11:49

Mopsy It should be okay - generally they grow out of it. However, just keep an eye on it - any concerns see your GP.

Come on Ladies who's up for a meet up in the easter hols?

LittleMissFlustered · 24/03/2012 11:53

I'm too far east to do a north meet, and too far north for a south one. Sorry:(

seven77 · 24/03/2012 12:27

I'm miles away from anyone :(

dsm play me! I'm a bit hooked on it.

bee hope you get rid of it soon.

I'll be 26 in a couple of weeks, eek. Though tbh I feel more grown-up to have been married for 5 years and have 2 children.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 24/03/2012 13:16

Seven Whats your Draw something name?

aethelfleda · 24/03/2012 14:00

Hiya mopsy, a booster is not required as such, it just increases the holding capacity of the nappy by 200ml. The nappy itself holds 400ml, so you could in theory have up to a pint of wee in a boosted nappy! In practice the booster means you can have the nappy on longer. With the staydries (which really are staydry, they are great) I currently have DS in a staydry plus booster from 7am to 6am (will add a second microfibre booster in a few months as he gets bigger and so does bigger wees). In the daytime I'm now using non boosted motherease for up to 3 hours at a time, again in a few months I may start using a booster: he seems to be a heavier wetter than the DDs, didn't need to boost til about 10 months with them.

Regarding the slight "froggy" posture: it holds the hips slightly open (abducted) which is actually beneficial for hip socket development: that's the position children with too-shallow hip joints are splinted into to get the hips to stay in joint while they grow. So no harm there.

Flat heads are really common nowadays cos of backsleeping: usually it settles as is hidden by hair too as the child grows, if you're worried baby is really wonky then see your GP, try to maximise tummy time and sitting time when awake, and turn the head gently to one side when they sleep rather than sleeping with head looking upwards....
