Oops missed your post mama how wonderful for you, j must be so treasured :)

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 02/02/2012 10:24

My DS was conceived on our 1st anniversary in paris, we had been TTC for a yr and by this point were only DTD when we knew it could go somewhere, I agree it becomes v functional after a few months. Anyway we were on a cruise up the sienne sp? And the tour guy said that we were passing under most romantic bridge and to make a wish and kiss person next to you we both wished for Christopher Grin that sounds like a totally cheesy story but promise it's true.
Mhairi wasn't quite so romantic lol we didn't use protection since C was born because he took so long.

TallyBear · 02/02/2012 12:28

Smile at the conception stories... but Angry at Schs work. I'm pretty sure that's illegal. You should take them to a tribunal and get some £££.

We started ttc in Nov 2009. I got a bfp in about June 2010. Remember being quite apprehensive

Engelsmeisje · 02/02/2012 12:42

Loving the conception stories as well Smile

We had been ttc for 18 months when we had a mc just before Christmas. We were so so disappointed and upset having had a glimmer of hope after a year and half of nothing. Had been to hospital for tests after a year, but they basically told us there was nothing obviously wrong so to go away for another 6 months.

One cycle later, and bfp! Like mama was quite hard to get excited about as we were so worried that something would go wrong again.

I would love to start ttc again at the end of this year. I'd rather have 2 close together, and perhaps it'll take a long time again, in which case we should get cracking. But I think DH would like to wait a bit longer for number 2.

Sucks that you have to wait so long for your appt Jnce . Hope you're doing okay today.

ed that does sound romantic. I've never been to Paris. I hint heavily every year but unfortunately DH went there with one of his ex-girlfriends, had a horrible time and so won't go. Ah well, there's always Venice... .

It's minus 9 here at the moment (plus the wind chill factor). Far too cold to run Sad .

BB3 · 02/02/2012 12:43

Oh tally, sorry about your mc's, mrsh Grin at dh 'are you not taking the pill!' and ed, so lovely!

Scheh - dr power I think it's called it's a bright yellow round pot (I got mine in asda I think) with a paste and scrubbing pad inside! It gets everything off!!!

BB3 · 02/02/2012 12:48

Oh engel - again sorry you struggled although again it does make these little munchkins extra special xx

Oh fuzzy, how did I react. I cried. Like a baby, I just wasn't expecting it - it was such a shock and I was laying looking up at the plasma screen in disbelief with big fat tears falling down my face. Dh was away so was with my sister, called dh and he was thrilled and was shouting to all his work colleagues, I called my mum she rushed me off the phone so she could call dad and everyone else in her phone book and then I sat for two hours listening to the consultant tell me all about the plans for of, delivery, risks etc of which nothing went in and then I went home and waited for it to sink in!

BB3 · 02/02/2012 12:49

Lol at bladder!!! Grin

FuzzzyDuck · 02/02/2012 13:02

Sorry to hear of those who have had mc in past. I can't even begin to understand how that must feel but as bb3 says, makes these little munchkins extra special Smile. One of my close friends was ttc for over 5 years, had every test under the sun etc and was waiting to hear about what her next options would be, then she got her bfp! I cried for her!! Little ds was born last year. Stories like that just make me Grin!!

Aww, love all these stories!!

PenguinArmy · 02/02/2012 13:09

still reading thread but DS was conceived the first time we had full 'proper' sex (yep took 10 months) and as I was nervous after the 3rd degree tear we got carried away and never put condom on. I took the morning after pill but DS still made it.

PenguinArmy · 02/02/2012 13:12

thing was despite it taking 10 months, that week we very much got back on form Wink

Scheherezade · 02/02/2012 13:13

BB3 I'm a little bit Envy of your lovely little twin girls, all babies are special (etcetc..) but there is something magical about twins! I love hearing your stories about how different they are too. Are they identical?

Fuzzy- S's dad is a twat. But you have a gorgeous little girl all to yourself and you don't have to share her now, so his loss.

Sat here waiting for the baby to wake up so we can go to the mother/baby group. No doubt he'll sleep for hours now that I've got dressed and (shock horror) put make-up on.

The odd thing about my conception/pregnancy is how I suddenly became broody when I was pg but not knowing it. I'd NEVER been interested in babies, had only graduated from uni the summer before, was cracking on with my horse and enjoying my job the bastards . Then suddenly I was asking my colleague loads of questions about pregnancy and childbirth, I started watching OBEM and going on about babies to DP Grin . Ends up I was actually pregnant, it must have just been a mega hormonal kick!

So happy for all you ladies who tried so hard to get your little DC's. I suppose we were just lucky. All I could say after telling DP was "oops!"

Right, there his lordship wails, it's boobs o'clock!

PenguinArmy · 02/02/2012 13:17

Jnice i thought for a moment the sink cleaning was related to conception Blush

FuzzzyDuck · 02/02/2012 13:25

PA not that I'll be doing it anytime soon re lack of manEnvyGrin but that's how I feel. Forceps and major cut, very nervous about it! It's probably more mind over matter, but I still can't even entertain the thought of it.

Yeah, bb3, are your girls identical? Do you have a history of twins in family?

PenguinArmy · 02/02/2012 13:27

TMI alert

Lube is your friend, makes a massive difference. Took me ages to give it a go as BF I found made me 'dry' which then made me less able to relax and so the cycle continued.

FuzzzyDuck · 02/02/2012 13:28
Wink
BB3 · 02/02/2012 13:32

One benefit of CS is I didn't have a fear of dtd after like I did with DS!!

Scheh, fuzzy - no not identical (I have put a few new pics on my profile here for you to have a look at - will pop some on FB later too if I can grab 5 minutes), so different especially in there personalities. Edie is a little princess making everyone melt with her giggles and smiles and cuddles. Ayse is straight out the rhyme 'there was a little girl, who had a little curl' - such an feisty independent little mite - when she is good, she is very, very good but when she is bad she is HORRID!! Wink

My maternal grandmother was a twin and the girls were due on her birthday which was nice as she hasn't been around for a fair few years. Edie is named after her (and my other grandmother) and Ayse is named after DH's mother.

emmazed · 02/02/2012 16:23

Love reading the conception stories. Dh and I were really lucky that we conceived in the first month. I felt I was preg in the wait to do the test, but kept telling myself I must be mad, one month of no contraception would be so quick. until the 12 week scan I couldn't believe it, thought it was all somehow a big hoax and there would be nothing on the screen! I loved being preg, I felt so complete somehow. Would love to try again in a year (for a 2 year gap) but don't think dh will be ready then. My sis is 7 years older than me and my bro 5 years. I don't want to have such a big gap for my kids if I can help it

MamaMaiasaura · 02/02/2012 18:06

Loving the conception stories too (a little Envy of easier ones tho Wink).

Neighbour is expecting a boy in June so just been going through the boys clothes I wouldn't put J in and all Sad at thought of giving and selling it. I need to have another baby boy to wear them (then a girl for J hand me downs.... Will it ever end? Grin)

Thing is I am kind of serious too Blush I'm imagining how it would all work. I think I'll end up with a dog instead.

LittlePebble · 02/02/2012 19:53

Loving this topic its great to hear everyones stories. So lovely for those of you who struggled to know what a happy outcome there has been (like reading the happy ever after before starting the book!). It's amazing to think this time last year I knew nothing of mumsnet/ babies/ I was only just pregnant and wouldn't find out for another ten days.....

OP posts:
cheekydino · 02/02/2012 20:09

Also loving conception stories and like pebble said, it's great that there are so many happy outcomes, especially for those ttc for a while.
We got pg first month of trying as well (and second month with ds). I was out at the cinema with some friends and felt weird twinges a week or so after ovulating and thought OMG, maybe that's it, and couldn't wait to do the test. When we saw the bfp we couldn't believe it as we were convinced it would take longer the second time round. Feel very lucky in the conception stakes. Less lucky in the birth stakes though! Have just heard back from the hospital after my complaint and they were already investigating as the ambulance service complained too.

Am I the only one who isn't feeling broody?! As much as I have loved the baby stage this time round, I am glad that I will never have to do the pregnancy/labour/newborn stage again. Two is plenty for us!

Scheherezade · 02/02/2012 20:17

Oh bb3 your photos of the girls are gorgeous!

Right, mega Envy time, DPs SS has been given a brand new, private plated range rover for her 21st, and what did DP get for his? A cheapo harmonica (!!!!!) And bar of chocolate. Am uber Angry and literally want to punch his dad.

MamaMaiasaura · 02/02/2012 20:59

Scheh Shock that's outrageous. At 21 I'd have driven like a idiot and also how the heck is that fair?

MamaMaiasaura · 02/02/2012 21:00

Really think teething here now, drool and über red cheeks. She's asleep on me and I can hear ds2 coughing away upstairs and can't get to him. Dh and ds1still at scouts.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 02/02/2012 22:37

bb3 just had a look at your pics girls are gorgeous, but I love the pic of ur DS what a wee heartbreaker!

Mhairi has really not been interested in feeding today at all, she was up 4 times during the night last night but today she missed 1 feed entirely and only had a few sucks at each of her other feeds and I had to prompt her for every feed. Am quite worried something could be wrong has anyone else had days like that?

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 02/02/2012 22:39

Oh and was out shopping and wanted to get M some frilly socks for her summer dresses and to hide baggy ankles on tights but they are £5.50 a pair Shock
