Our third thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Scheherezade · 31/01/2012 13:21

pene hope you don't mind me asking- were there any warning signs about the baby that died of SIDS? Do the parents smoke, ff or co sleep do you know?

PenguinArmy · 31/01/2012 13:51

we've had our first proper projectile vomits today, fun Hmm

pene if it's affecting that much (understandably so) i'd speak to someone

MamaMaiasaura · 31/01/2012 16:12

PA Sad for projectile. Hope all ok now

Scheh - growth spurt? It's hard going when they feed non stop )not in growth spurt here phew)

Pen Sad I'd fret too to if it continues too long speak to someone. It's all very recent tho, do you chat to dh about it?

Can't remember if it was someone here who's baby was getting sore in neck creases/behind ears. The other say the pharmacist told me to use talc rather than sudocrem. Today I saw hv to get J weighed and she said talc is a big no no is babies under a year as they inhale the dust and can be quite serious. She said sudocrem or Vaseline which a ts as a barrier is best thing to use. She also said no talc anywhere at all on baby (not even bottom). J is now 14lb9oz at 14 weeks 3 days.

Brilliant day with ds2 - he let dentist check his teeth and had hair it. He's scared of. Both these things and he was brilliant Grin very proud of him (tho later he pick up a piece of round poo that was on pavement hands were throughly --scrubbed~~ washed)

MamaMaiasaura · 31/01/2012 17:43

Update about Bea on cupoftea thread. X

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 31/01/2012 18:01

Got M weighed today she'll be 14wks tomorrow and is 14lbs 1oz wee chubby Grin
am chuffed DS is eating spaghetti bolognaise tonight that I made myself! (DS refuses almost all food)

Still not too great with potty though Sad

Scheherezade · 31/01/2012 18:42

Oh poor cupoftea :( it's so sad, I just don't know what to say.

C is almost sitting up by himself! If he's at an angle on my knees he can pull himself up. We've been practising it all day, when he's laid down he holds his hands out, I hold them and he uses them to haul himself up :) makes me feel better that he has no interest in rolling.

TallyBear · 31/01/2012 18:43

Sch whilst you need to do what's right for both you and lo, you have to consider the psychological effect of giving up bfing if you are really against it (giving up that is)....

BB3 you'd better be careful announcing your choc stash or you could end up with loads of MNers turning up on your doorstep Grin

Strawberry it was me asking about ff prep. It sounds like you do the same as us. We cool them in v. cold water in sink for 10-15 mins and then put in fridge. Oh and good luck with the buying/move.

Engles Smile at least cards are fewer calories than shortbread!!

Mama I didn't post but we get red creases in neck. We've been using a bit of talc after bath on suggestion of MiL (ex-midwife) but will check with hv next week. Blimey, what isn't dangerous?!!

Ed yey for the spag bol.... Sounds yummy. I've got Zumba soon and dh doesn't do cooking so I've got a chicken pie. I'm leaving him to put in oven later.

MamaMaiasaura · 31/01/2012 20:08

SadSadSad another update on beautiful Bea. Praying for her and her family

MamaMaiasaura · 31/01/2012 20:10

Ed - little chubby baby indeed Smile and yay on spag Bol. Potty will happen, hang in there

MamaMaiasaura · 31/01/2012 20:10

Scheh - go C, clever baby Smile

Scheherezade · 31/01/2012 20:18

Poor poor cup :( can't believe after everything this could be it. I still remember being all excited for her induction :(

MamaMaiasaura · 31/01/2012 20:21
Sad
MrsHende · 31/01/2012 20:22

Another update from cup, not good news, keep all our fingers crossed for baby Bea. Sad

It was lovely to meet the Glasgow girls - what gorgeous children and yummy mummies Grin.

L is feeding, feeding, feeding at the moment! My poor nipples are in agony - blister central. I'm slapping on the Lansinoh like it's going out of fashion!

I'm about to start the dreaded search for a nursery. Fuzzzy was telling me that people had unborn baby's names on the waiting list for her nursery! I'm not going back to work till August but will need to put L into nursery full time when I do go back.

Any advice for what to look out for/avoid/ask? I can't bear to think about the cost of it but will have to take my head out of the sand with that too.

Wishing you all a good sleep and happy healthy babies - cup and pene have certainly made me very grateful.

FuzzzyDuck · 31/01/2012 21:22

I am heartbroken reading cups thread. I just can't stop thinking about all her posts on the ante natal board. Such a joyous time, bringing a little person into the world to have it snatched away like that. She (and family( must be in pieces. Really puts things into perspective. I just want to go and wake Sophia up to give her a big cuddle Sad

FuzzzyDuck · 31/01/2012 21:38

another update from cup. I will be glued to that thread all night now Sad

BB3 · 31/01/2012 21:53

You know I'm sat here crying my eyes out reading these updates about Beatrice, it's times like these you realise how lucky we all are. This beautiful baby girl having to go through this and their family. I just cannot even imagine it.

TallyBear · 31/01/2012 22:00

I need to go find cups thread....

MrsH our LA has a list of authorised nurseries and childminders with details (e.g. not all nurseries take them under 12 months). It might be worth checking if yours does if you've not already. There are lists on line of things to ask or look for- I can't remember off hand although we went for childminder so slightly different. good luck.

Jnice · 31/01/2012 22:19

pene I think the shock is bound to impact you in the short term, and the nightmares and fears are natural, but it might be worth talking to a health professional if you have someone you respect - about putting your fears into perspective. About rolling, I read that once they can roll you don't have to worry about tummy sleeping. You still should never lie baby down on tummy but if they roll over - so long as the mattress is firm and there are no loose blankets or anything it should be fine. Rolling is a milestone that means baby has strong upper body and can shift position if necessary.

Anyway, don't suffer in silence - if you can chat to someone it might help you rationalise your fears.

So sorry to hear this about cupoftea and bea - being recent I don't know the history but very sorry for her and all of you who must also be deeply affected Sad

TallyBear · 31/01/2012 22:21

Just read about cup. In tears here. I had no idea.... Makes me want to go and give Seb a big hug. We're so blessed. Poor Bea and Cup.

Jnice · 31/01/2012 22:22

ed very glad to hear about your night - long may it continue! I tried L's first nap in sleeping bag and it was a miserable failure. The biggest issue is that I always lie him down asleep. He wakes up unless he's swaddled so I swiftly bundled him up again. Will try get his reflux better before I try change anything sleep wise I think!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 31/01/2012 22:42

jnice was talking to DH this morning and apparently I was feeding her at around 1.30am (am now fooling myself about how much sleep I'm getting) Grin so sleeping bag didn't change anything about her usual routine.

Just read cups update so so sad, I can't possibly imagine what she and her family are going through Sad

Jnice · 01/02/2012 01:09

Oops! Well at least her routine is no worse ed !

Penelope1980 · 01/02/2012 01:41

Thanks for all your nice advice! I will give it another week or so and see if the nightmares and fears get better, if not, I'll look into talking to someone about it. I feel better today about it all, apart from feeling a little silly for being this affected given I didn't really know the other baby that well.

That's so sad about cupoftea.

For the Q about childcare - I visited a few and just got a vibe off the places. One thing that impressed me about one place is that while I was there a parent just popped in unannounced and was welcomed which made me like the idea of the place even more - not that I am likelyto turn up unannounced often but like the idea of being able to. A is enrolled in 4 places, I really like the look of 2 of them so hope to get places in those. DH and I are starting to think about part time options now, no idea what we'll do yet though

LittlePebble · 01/02/2012 05:38

No news from cup yet Sad been checking all night, I can't stop thinking about them.

pene I think it's only natural to feel as you do, just hearing news via you has shaken me.
Edward lol at forgetting a feed! I did same the other day was so tired I still cannot remember if I did a 3am feed or not it's all a blur.

Saw hv yesterday to get Eli weighed (don't ask how heavy he is!) and there were two of them discussing his size. She said as he's bf he's ok, but if I was ff she would be telling me to cut back on his food by now....Hmm
So if I was ff my (naturally large) baby would be left hungry and as a mum I would be left worried and upset, but all for nothing as he's obviously meant to be this size as "you can't over feed a bf baby".
I'm Shock at the stigma they attach to ff and Angry at how they would treat another mum in my situation if she was ff.
He's still on the centile chart btw and has steady curve. just has gradually gone from 75th to 98th during 15wks.
Sorry rant over...

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 01/02/2012 06:50

pebble I totally agree sometimes I think professionals rely too much on charts/guidelines etc and not enough on their own eyes/instincts.

I also can't get cup and little bea out of my head!

Christopher went peepee on potty this morning Grin and I didn't even ask him! He shouted oh no mummy it's coming and sat by himself then did it GrinGrin

Does anyone know if it's possible for BFed baby to be constipated? M hasn't done a poo in three days, this will be day 4. Starting to get worried.
