We are still in b&b and are not really sure when we will be back in the flat. As far as we know it is going to be weeks rather than months, but we really don't have any specifics. :(

DP is away until Saturday for work, and I have been feeling a bit down about it all. I have been trying to cheer myself up all day by snuggling with DS, eating sweet things and surfing the net for double buggies (recommendations welcome!).

Oh well, at least we don't have snow here. I hate snow!

And Grin at babesnet.com - DS says 'We are staying in this new house that is full of people with funny accents who are on holiday - weird Confused. BUT, there is a baby in my mummy's tummy which means I will be a big brother Grin, so I am being a good boy and I am sleeping much better at night to set a good example. :)

sebs71 · 04/04/2012 18:15

TP - hope you enjoyed your wintry walk. Didn't venture out at all today (well, my Dad managed to get up here, so whilst LO was asleep, and he was here I snuck out with the dog down the road and back!). It is STILL snowing and hasn't stopped all day, but not really sticking anymore, and hopefully, thawing a bit. Got about 6 to 7 inches of the stuff in the end... yes, as pretty as it is, I'm no snow fan too

Well done Littlecake (would that be a cupcake??) on sleeping well at night to set a good example for the LO in your mummy's tummy! Cake - well, hope your time in the B&B goes quickly and is ok too... and hope you ok until DP is back.

I like Apprentice too... although have been watching it on Sky+ in the day rather than stay up... however, as I'm on my own tonight, I might just watch it in bed... I find it hard to sleep when I'm on my own, so might as well watch telly! I'll then probably stay awake until LO stirs, and then go and get her and bring her into bed with me :)

OH made it to the Rig... but thankfully only for one night, back tomorrow some time.

tiddleypompom · 04/04/2012 20:31

Wintry walk was horrid! Horizontal, blustery snow and v cold. Really glad it turned to sleet and then rain - fingers crossed we won't have any settle. Can't believe you got 6-7 inches sebs!

Cupcake :o

Well, staying up to watch Apprentice despite early signs of cold (boo). DH is making me hot milk with brandy & just chucked an orange at me (romantic). We have lit the fire and I'm in my PJs - v cosy. Putting thoughts of DS with cold and teething and red itchy face (eczema making a comeback?) out of my mind till tomorrow. He is currently tucked up in his cot sleeping and in an extra vest - I really hope he makes it through the night without waking, for his sake as much as mine!

Can you imagine being out on a rig? Wow. Hats off to Mr Sebs!

Sweet dreams - and enjoy the cringe-worthy episode of egos in half an hour!

candr · 04/04/2012 20:36

Boo to the snow those of you that have it.
Cake glad to hear LO is settled well enough for good sleeps at the B and B.
Ear pulling does indicate tiredness, pressing on it more shows earache. My LO has cuts by his ear from his nails as always pulls the same one.
Can finally report some sleeping success (for us anway)Gave bottle at 6.30, woke at 8.30 for a cuddle then slept till we woke him at half 10 for another bottle. He woke a few times but managed to sooth without getting him up and managed to get him back in crib after feeds at 12.30, 2,4.30 so for the first night ever he did not sleep in our bed and woke at 6am. He has also done his naps in cot in his room for first day as I prepare myself and him to move in there (he slept for longer than he does in the crib - took me by surpriseGrin)
Lets see how tonight goes as have a feeling my resolve was stronger as I actually managed a nap yesterday as DH was home.
Got bigger car seat today so looking forward to his first front facing journy.

ssmile · 04/04/2012 21:02

Alas babe woke every two hours last night :( and I have DD1 cold :( BUT my roller skates arrived and I raced my eldest along the Seafront, she was on her scooter. Was great fun :o we got home all had nap time whilst it started to rain. Fingers crossed for better sleep tonight, I really need it. And I too go to bed 8.30-9pm everynight as only way I can survive with two kids that wake up everynight!

sebs71 · 04/04/2012 21:42

Alas haven't managed to watch Apprentice as mr sebs phoned about 8.50 so missed start. Will watch it tomorrow instead. But now in bed wondering when to go get her!!

Yes, mr sebs brave soul for going to rig in bad winds and cod weather... Thankfully no snow on coast so was ok. Think he likes the trips as they do good food and he gets good night sleep :) but he's coming straight home instead of office so will be home earlier tomorrow :) and then off all next week as we are off to coast on caravan Monday to Friday ... But think weather bad next week... Boo :(

Just back from dummy retrieval visit... Umm may go get her now!! Keep us both warm and cosy tonight!! Hope snow gone in morning!!

Night all, hope it's a good one for all ...

sebs71 · 04/04/2012 21:44

Cod weather??? He he meant cold...

And Grin to racing 4 year old on your skates ssmile!!

ssmile · 06/04/2012 18:10

I can't believe five years I was in hospital 14days over due with DD1 wondering if she was ever gonna come out, she was eventually born on Easter Sat by emcs [busmile]. Been busy today tryin to make a pink Dora themed cake whilst grandPs had DD1, &baby tried to escape the cushion nest on my kitchen floor every 60secs! There was pink icing everywhere [bugrin] beetroot juice is my secret ingredient for pink icing with out the hypo inducing chemical colourings, but blueberry juice didn't work for blue! I've left space for the plastic Dora the explorer figure I got off ebay on Mon but its not arrived yet.......fingers Xed it comes tom otherwise I've got to improvise with a picture of Dora.

Lo got her 5th bug high temp, cold symptoms in her short 7mth life. Big downside of having a sister at school Hohum we did get some paracetmal in her earlier which helped.

Hope you all have good Easter [busmile]

sebs71 · 06/04/2012 20:04

Happy 5th Birthday, Little Ssmile!! Hope Dora arrives then!! Have a good birthday weekend [bugrin]

Yes, Happy Easter all, have great weekends [busmile]

tiddleypompom · 06/04/2012 21:31

Happy Easter!

Hope Dora finds her way to your cake in time ssmile - enjoy your little girl's birthday :)

Off upstairs to sneak a peek at sleeping DS - cant get enough of that arms above head pose!

tiddleypompom · 06/04/2012 21:32

Why hasnt my smile got ears?!

feralgirl · 06/04/2012 21:40

[sarah] that's a bit spooky; it was my mum's 60th on Tuesday too! We had an awesome day and the whole extended family went to a really posh restaurant for lunch. DD and DS were beautifully behaved right up until DS pooed himself in-between courses. I had to take him to the loos to get cleaned up and didn't realise until DH asked me later what I had spilt down my front that I had sat at the table eating pudding in a michelin starred restaurant lagged in toddler shit Shock Blush

I can't believe the snow some of you have had Shock We had one cold day when we lit the fire and now it's back to lovely spring sunshine. We were out in the garden all afternoon!

V impressed at your scooting/ skating mother/daughter combo Ssmile, sounds like brill fun. And happy birthday to to DD1 too, it all sounds ace (and I hope both DDs give you lots of kip in preparation tonight!)

Cake bah to the B&B but yay to decent sleeps though.

My DD does ear-pulling when she's tired too, and she scrabbles at the back of her head. If I don't keep her nails dead short then she gouges chunks out of herself Sad DS used to do it as well, I think he stopped when he was about a year old. It is weird, but DD has just started rubbing her eyes more when she's tired now too.

I also love the 'prentice. Haven't seen it yet this week though as we've been over at my parents' house loads.

Hi to everyone else, hope you're all having lovely Easter weekends. My diet has completely gone for a burton; I ate four hot cross buns today [bublush]

ssmile · 07/04/2012 09:49

Phew postman just been "Dora" has made it in the nick of time, quick wash &i can cement her in place with some icing..[busmile]....since 7am DD1 been asking where's my Dora cake oooh thought mummy had dropped a ball there in my constant juggling act of life [bugrin].

Happy Easter!

tiddleypompom · 07/04/2012 13:08

I want bunny eeeeaaaarrrrrrssssssssss!!!

:o at poo on front at posh restaurant

candr · 07/04/2012 20:07

Aaaargh! Had an awful night with DS, was fine till 10pm feed then just cried and would not sleep - proper screaming and tears. He wouldn't even sleep for more than 10min at a time in our bed and had a temp. Has only slept for 1.5 hours today but has had nasty teething poos and I have a bit of a bug so prob has that. Had 1hr battle to get him down tonight but am dreading the whole night [busad]
Ssmile - well done with cake.
Feral - that is gross you poor thing. Have started carrying a spare top for me in DS bag as he weed over me when I got him weighed a while back and I had to walk home wet. [bugrin]

ssmile · 08/04/2012 10:20

Oooh for the first time in months I'm engorged with breast milk [buconfushed] babe has mild cold so bit bunged up but eating well on solids but not wanting much milk so I had to hand express into a cup last night to remove the bunch of grapes feelin in my boobs. Really don't want mastitous and just flipping hope this settles down. On good side babe did sleep brill last night fed at 10pm, 1am, 5am up till 6.30am but then slept till 8.30am and as DH got up with DD1 I got a LIE IN [bugrin] better than chocolate any day :o very nice to start the day with out that concrete boots feeling of exhaustion.

candr hope you had a better night
feralgirl ohhhmm yum!

feralgirl · 08/04/2012 21:29

Sad for bunged-up boob Ssmile but good sleeps though [busmile] And I'm glad DD1 had a good day yesterday.

Candr, we're getting lots of the full-on hysterical howling atm too. Sad

DD has had a cold for about two weeks and keeps seeming as though she's getting better and then having a relapse. I'm just waiting for her to get over it and then we can move her into her own room but there is absolutely no point while she's ill. I'm beginning to get quite anxious now though as I'm back to work in one week and it's ages since she actually managed to sleep all night in her own bed.

She woke up at 5.30 this morning and spent an hour and a half alternately feeding, pooing and crying; it's also DH's birthday today so I have spent all day doing my utmost to make it a nice day for him whilst dealing with a stroppy baby. Grr.

Nice tantrum TP, but thanks to DS, I am immune and am just ignoring you [bugrin]

tiddleypompom · 09/04/2012 08:39

Sniff.

jimmijam · 09/04/2012 14:55

happy easter all!
ssmile if you can, give your boobs a good massage while you express, and put a cold (though it wont stay that way for long) cabbage leaf in each bra cup. within a day or 2 you should be back to smoothness again :)

jimmijam · 09/04/2012 14:58

cake are you pregnant? jsut scanning through posts. if you are then a HUGE congratulations and virtual hug, if not oops, sorry.

happy birthday little ssmile glad dora arrived ontime & those special tools in her backpack didnt get her lost :)

jimmijam · 09/04/2012 15:00

i cant remember who else on here had trouble bottle feeding, possibly tp ?
still no luck here whatsoever after trying...
tommee tippee, avent and dr bowns bottles all with newborn & 6month+teats, cow & gate formula, hipp formula, breastmilk mixed with formula, just expressed breastmilk, trying to slip a bottle in instead of breast, hubby offering bottle with me hidden away quietly, hubby offering bottle with me there, me offering bottle, 3 types of cup-1 'normal' and 2 fir lo's, and going 7hours not offering him breast-just bottle. he very occasionally takes one sip but thats it. been a month now :( got NUK bottle today to try but not holding out any hope
its been a whole month now!
going to ring hv 2moro in hope she can help :/

sarahseager · 09/04/2012 18:57

Hi jimmijam we had been having trouble getting lo to take a bottle but in the last few days we have started to have success!

I'm going back to work on 17th April so we started trying to get her to take a bottle in the middle of the day just over a month ago. She's always been a bit of a fussy feeder because of her reflux and guzzles and gasps really loudly and she just seemed to be find the bottles overwhelming, but gradually she has got used to them and she has taken a full 210ml feed for the last three days.

In the beginning she didn't want to know at all and so some days i would just forget the whole thing and bf her and then gradually she started to take some but would then get worked up about it and scream and push the bottle away. What worked for us in the end is the breastflow bottles (we, like you tried lots of different ones) and position seems to be key with her too - I tried her in her bouncy chair, high chair, sitting on the sofa, lying down but the best position in the end is her sitting on my lap facing outwards with her head resting on my chest. We are using the cow & gate follow on milk which seems to smell less than the Sma first infant milk - but maybe we are just used to it now [buconfused]

Don't know if that helps at all, to be honest I'm not sure if in the end she just gave in and decided to drink from the bottle but hopefully she seems to be getting used to it now and will be ok when she is with nana and at nursery!

Hope dd is a bit happier today feral, funny that our mums had the same 60th birthday! Hope you all enjoyed your meal out despite the poo incident! We're all off to Cambridge for the night to celebrate my mums birthday at the end of the month so I'm sure that will involve taking half the house for lo!

Nice to hear you got a lie in ssmile that sounds luscious! Hope the boobs are feeling better now, I had one of them the other day and it was so strange having them like that again! Hope little ssmile had a lovely birthday, the cake sounds amazing!

Hope DS is more settled now candr - we normally get a few hours sleep from lo at the start of the night but she has started wailing in the middle of the night and won't settle back in her cot for anything longer than 45 mins max I think is our record so she ends up coming in the bed with us again!!

So cute sneaking a peek at them sleeping tiddleypompom I have to do it every night without fail! They look so lovely and peaceful even though you know they're a ticking time bomb until their next howl wakes you up![bugrin]

Hope you've all had a lovely Easter weekend [busmile], lo has been such a sweetie this weekend and even had her first roast dinner at my mums yesterday round the table with everyone! Yippee! They're growing up so fast it's scary!

candr · 10/04/2012 19:36

Jimmijam have been through the whole bottle saga too though he will drink from open cup but is to messy at night. We use a flatter (newborn I think) teat as it is supposed to be more ike a nipple!
Sarah that is the only position DS will the a bottle in too, it is quite relaxing thoug not having his weight on your arm. He was taking a bottle at night then refused for a few days but took some tonight. Well done to the roast dinner Grin
He is sooo snotty at the mo that breathing is a bit tricky though he tries to eat the tissue when I wipe his nose.
Feral, he had 3 nights of crying even in our bed but last night managed to get him in crib by sitting on edge of bed to feed rather than tucked up in bed with me. Am same as you with moving him. It is supposed to be tommorow night but we shall see.
Ssmile, have also felt a bit full on occasion towards the evening but then he has drunk me dry through the night so no expressing for me.

ssmile · 10/04/2012 20:10

Interesting reading the bottle stuff we have given up on bottles constant refusal. Babe will drink water from a doidy cup and a straight flow Tommee tippee lidded cup but refuses milk. I've tried two types formula and breast milk but nope she not interested. She not that interested in BF in daytime at moment but drinking lots in the night hmmm not ideal. I'm not under such tight deadlines with this babe as not back to work till Aug but that has made me lazy with persisting with formula in cup. I must start tryin more as I'm supposed to be doing some keeping in touch days in may& June. Gd to know some of you are gettin some success....

jimmijam · 10/04/2012 20:50

spoke to hv today. 2nite is lo's forst night in his own room-and in his cot! i wont feed him at all at night, just go in every so often and say goodnight if he cries. in the morning his 1st feed will be from a bottle (hv thinks he'll be so desperate by then that he'll take it).
id never have guessed getting night time sorted would fix the bottle issue, i was trying to do it the other way around!
she said in 2 to 3 nights he'll be sleeping through and should take from a bottle then too.
took him 45mins and me going in saying 'sleep time' twice for him to go to sleep. he's now been asleep for an hour! video monitor all set up.

sarah glad you have found a routine that is now working for yuou :) its quite exciting when that happens!

so many babes with colds :( ds2 often seems to have a chesty cough, as does ds1 thinking about it. dd escapes most of the bugs luckily :)
all these changes in weather must be messing with their immune systems
