Ooh, TP ... looking for places in the sun must be fun! No idea if baby friendly or not, but I'm guessing south of France, or Spain for short flights - Corsica is also lovely, have been there before, and it is beautiful, and in September, I'm guessing weather would be lovely too.

We also went to Cyprus last year (about this time last year as it was for my 40th... and I was about 20 weeks PG)... very family friendly!

And... names for the next thread... How about Sept 2012 babes... feeding, crawling, babbling... nah, it's still all about the SLEEP!!

Forgot to add before that LO is also now babbling away - she's still doing her "Wacka Wacka" noises as if she's Australian, but now also says "Baba, Baba" a lot, which is sooo sweet. She's also got quite a couple of toothy stumps now too... feels like she's suddenly jumped up a stage.

DSD is also very excited as she's taught LO to "High Five!!". So now you can put your hand up to her and shout "High Five, Alys" and she'll put her hand up to your's... and laugh her head off...!!

Yes, I'm doing puree'd food, although making the purees much chunkier now, and adding chicken and fish too. And, YES, LO really didn't like salmon to start with, so I hide it in good ol' cheese sauce. Last week whilst away, she had 4 days of jars... a few hit and miss, but her poops really changed again. So now she's back on home cooking, and pooping like a trooper!! But, I'm also going to introduce more finger foods, and she does take the cup from me now, and can just about get the spout bit in her mouth, althugh struggles to lift it up to get the water out!! But she's getting there!

But still no rolling!!! She still hates being on her tummy after a little while, so there's no crawling yet!!

Thanks sebs, I hope LO sorts out the sleep issue for you soon. I had the 'ping' wide awake thing going on for days with LO. But it seems to have settled now. Loving the high fives thing.

Thanks Tp. Yeah I'm hoping the supper continues to work, we had 3 feeds through the night, 12ish, 3ish and 7 after which she went back off for an hour, and I consider that a good night, so 2 good nights now. We're doing a self catering hol soon, booked a cottage for us, where were you thinking, budget, lots to do, or bolt hole in the middle of nowhere? I must look at that book, I meant to get it last time you mentioned it.

We have lots of babbling. Lots of dada sounds, blah, pah, something that sounds like hiya, mumum, naah, and eeeeh, bababa lots like that, and shouting, lots of shouting.

She has also had a few standing unaided bits, only very briefly, but longer than let go and on bum straight away

And nothing is too hard for standing, uses flat hands on glass panes to stand, even uses the wobbly bit of the jumperoo, and I've gone into herin the middle of the night stood in her cot while wearing her grobag! It is fun though. :)

My Lo really mobile now, lots of backward crawling, and full push ups balancing only on her hands and tips of toes. She loves the door bouncer think it really helping to strengten her legs. Some lovely noises babbling, dada and our DD1 name as its a da name so easier to get I think. Haha tp at high five made me giggle I will have to ask DD1 to teach her that as we use it a lot with DD1 as a well done.
The party went really well she loved it, but I was shattered, I'm not gonna do that again in a hurry. DD2 was born at the end of Aug so will be on school hols when its her birthday and at end of school year. All your Los in Sept will be first in school year so you have no idea who their friends are and end up doing the whole class party thing....you have been warned :o

100 at the draw something app; my DH and brother were on it all Easter and I started by saying that it was rubbish and taking the piss out of them then I had a go and realised how much fun it is!

Wow at the standing unaided too; DD cruised from one end of the sofa to the other last week which was a bit and DH left the drop side down on her cot this morning while we were getting dressed and she managed to climb over it and into our bed, despite wearing a grobag. DS never managed to get out of his cot, even with the drop side down!

TP we use the River Cottage book too, it's got some really good recipes in. I have tried very hard to spoon-feed DD but she really is not having it at all. She gets absolutely if I put stuff in her mouth and just spits it out. I have to load the spoon and give it to her and then watch her fling it down her back as she waves it in the air. It's a right PITA as I would quite like to get a bit more down her to see if it helps her sleep. of the hols; we're off to Italy for three days for a friend's wedding but I would love to be able to go for longer. We're leaving the DCs with my parents though which is very exciting!

Sebs, your holiday sounds lovely (except for rubbish sleeps) and the dress fitting will be brilliant, it's so nice doing it with friends and making a big girly event of it. I was totally brassic when we got married so I went to London and went shopping in vintage shops with my best mate; we had a great time and I bought the most gorgeous dress ever and then got really drunk at lunchtime

First day back was fine and I got to go to the school gym afterwards which was great; I shudder to think how much I have piled on over Easter Thanks for all the hugs

September 2011 babies: commando rolling, babbling, eating; growing big but STILL NOT SLEEPING!

Am with you on the NOT SLEEPING (has a little cry) DS is still waking lots during the night despite eating 3 meals a day, small milk feeds from me, 5oz formula at 6pm, 5oz formula at 10pm - why won't he sleeeeeeep!
Tiddly - good luck with holiday search, stayed in a nice place in Gerona, Spain with cheap chalets a few years ago. It was very child friendly.
Sebs, love the idea of Hi5, am trying to teach waving and kissing at the mo but just get lots of spitting and only makes waving motion when he has a hand full of food to squish.
100 - wow to the standing by themselves, must look very cute. DS has always been an upright baby but not standing unadied yet although he can hold himself up for a while when there.
Ssmile - must have been nice to get away with a change of scenery for a while - could do with that myself. It is great to get the chance to see your kids gaining new skills and confidence in fun activites.
Feral - am glad first day back went well, can't believe you had the energy to go to the gym after school. I do miss being in the classroom but not the planning or assesment.

Heehee at my CTU status :o I was watching Level 3 of the Shred yest as hoping to try it tom (gulp) its very full on, so I can get extra fit for my commando rolls. I can't believe how much the dvd has helped me to lose cms, weight and get much stronger in my arms its Brill!

Well I'm still having some success with my gentle sleep training. Four nights in a row I've not fed babe at 2-3am slot and just resettled her with a 5sec cuddle. She still feeding 9/10pm, 12/1am has been waking on a 3hr cycle. She had no BF for 7hrs! Last night she woke 3.30 and then every half hr until 6am but a short hug and shhhh and she was straight back to sleep in her cot until 7.30 :o wow. I'm really hoping if she settles into dropping that fed I can then start knocking out the 9-10pm fed and just leave the 12.30/1am one so she does two lots of 6-7hrs. This baby is SO much easier than our first who never responded to this kind of gentle encouragement, so I really do think its how your babies are wired. Hugs to all those whose babes are not sleeping well. I do feel very blessed as I know how horrid it can be.

Feral - glad first day back went well. And, yes, in awe of you going to the gym afterwards too... !! Not quite going for a dress fitting on Saturday - I'm just getting a highstreet / off the peg dress, so going to Liverpool to hunt for one. Although my friend has ordered and has a BHS one for me to try on (which I'll pop there Thursday to try). If successful, then we'll use the shopping trip for shoes etc!

Candr - Sorry your LO isn't sleeping well either. What is it with these September babes???

Well, a little tiny weeny bit of progress - managed to get LO to sleep in her cot about 7.30ish last night... for all of half an hour! Seems to treat it as a nap! Then she was up and wide awake, wanting to bounce and basically not sleepy at all. Eventually we put her in with us (again) and as we switched the light off she did go off after about 10 mins. But, OH was up at 4am (as he's off to Algeria... again :( ) and she was restless from then on. So have basically been awake since then. See how this evening goes, but at least I'll have a little bit more room in bed, with OH away!!

And... she keeps blowing raspberries when eating!!! I'm getting covered!! It's quite funny, but I'm desparately trying to not laugh, have a stern looking face and say "no" ... not that it's helping! She doesn't do it so much during the puddings, leading me to think she does it more when she doesn't like something as much. She also does it when she's had enough!

Her personality is definitely coming through, and it's feisty all the way!! We're going to have some fun when she hits toddler status - my Dad thinks it's payback time!!

Oh, roll on Thursday night... hate it when OH away, but at least step kids here this time, so I'll have company (and hopefully a bit of help, but of course more work too!!)

Sebs, boo to OH going away, mine often works 7 day weeks and home late. It is so much harder when you know there is no respite. Am also failing to hide smiles at LO blowing raspberrys (and big snot bubbles) but am also def seing personality develope. He is quite stubborn (over sleep) but such a happy chap, interested in everything and nearly always smiling so feel very lucky. Am starting to see wich of us he copies in certain traits.
Am mainly using 'No' when DS is tired as he tries to scratch my face and bite my shoulder through fustration.
Ssmile - Think I might have to give more formula during night as not sure he is getting enough of a feed of me to stay asleep for long but need to have staying awake will power to do what you are doing. Have decided when he goes in own room I will not bring him into our bed till at least 6am but that may require me sleeping on his floor to get some sleep till he learns.

sebs I hope you're getting on well without your DH2B (heehee) - and that you're able to stay up for the apprentice! We're also seeing some strong suggestions of personality as opposed to 'just baby' traits - isn't it wonderful?

candr our DS is also a real smiler - it make my heart want to explode sometimes :) I read a thread this morning that was discussing a Guardian article written by a lady who has been told she can't have kids. She was pleading with mums to appreciate how lucky we are - it was very sad and made me need to give our scrummy boy a big cuddle. Gosh, I do know we're lucky.

Two teeth = 5 nights in a row of disrupted sleep here. Plus odd nappies & a mild temp. He slept through again last night so I've my fingers crossed that's it for now, though the HV yesterday said that she could see the top one coming. Apparently some babies hardly make any fuss at all, but it seems we have one who does!

Crikey, the hail is coming down in buckets outside! What bizarre weather we're having. I am waiting for my best mate to arrive, having just told her mum that she's updiffed. Very happy for her (and for DS & I to have new playmates) as I suspect she was keener than she let on to start a family.

Right - better straighten the house & find a warm cardy - the hail is making me feel cold. Just eaten a load of after eight mints left over from dinner party - seriously, we always have chocolate in the house & it is NOT good for me.

Happy days all & hope noone gets stuck outside during this mental weather!

TP - like it... DH2B!! He's text this afternoon to say he's on an earlier flight to Paris, and hopefully can get a flight back to Manchester... so might be back tonight !! Yay!! Hope so... had an awful night. LO feel asleep whilst having her milk... all good, and went down for half hour. Woke up and so cuddled her whilst I got the older kids to bed (and myself). She went straight down on my bed, and slept till about 12.20... then thrashed around, and kept waking herself (and me) up. I held her three times, and twice the minute I put her down on the bed, she woke up. The third time she finally stayed asleep - this was 3.45am! So was awake all that time :( (well, awake and crying for some of it). Just didn't know what to do... why does she thrash so much?

But, after a couple of hours sleep from 4 till 6, didn't feel too bad, and better after a shower... tired now though!! Quick internet fix and then must make tea for us all.

TP - doubt I'll make Apprentice as LO won't stay asleep long enough! But, it's on record, so I'll catch it tomorrow and try not to see who goes out on Breakfast in the morning!! Hope you have a nice time with your BF! (And managed to stay warm)

Yes, it is mental weather - sleeting here this morning and 3 degrees brrrr!

sebs not enough time to write and respond properly - but I just wanted to share that DS also thrashes in his sleep, and especially when in a light sleep but not wanting to be (IYSWIM). Perhaps DD is disturbed by something (could it be teeth?) and it is making it hard for her to sleep properly, though she is tired and wants to? Just an idea - and not sure how it helps really! Poor things - I reckon they want to sleep through as much as we want them to, how ironic!

Really glad DH2B is on his way back to you all anyway. Wishing you - and everyone - a far better night.

p.s. lovely afternoon with BF. Have dished out a pregnancy book, a few jersey dresses for pre-bump but feeling uncomfy weeks and stretch mark lotion!! :o

Just a quick hi to say I'm reading and keeping up with you all, even if I don't write a big post. I've quite often got work that I have to do in the evenings (boo) but tonight I'm just playing with the macbook and editing together a film of the DCs which is just too cute for words

Yay for Apprentice in a minute; hope DD doesn't wake up in the middle. Since I went back to work she's waking at 9pm-ish every evening and howling for me. The minute I walk in through the door she is like a limpet! And I cannot bring myself to sacrifice any sleep in the night for trying to settle her back in her cot so she's in bed with me as soon as she wakes at midnight-ish. This rod thingy for my back is getting to be a little bit uncomfortable now! Going to have to do something about it soon as my mum is adamant that DD has to be sleeping in her cot by the time we go to Italy and leave the DCs with her at the end of July

Sebs, I have had many nights like yours and it feels so endless at 3am. All I can think is 'how hard is it to go to sleep when you are clearly exhausted and in a comfey bed?' I put it down to teething, growth spurt, sleep regression (any thing that seems like a good reason rather than admit my baby is just crap at night)
OTOH last night he took a bottle at 10 having had a huge screaming fit at 9 for 45 min, then I fed him at 12.30 and 5.30 and he came into bed with me at 6.30. That is our best night ever Tonight he has had a smaller tantrum (there is still time) but is asleep. I really want another night of only feeding twice but worry he only slept so well as he exhausted himself screaming. BTW he is being rocked, laid down, shhh'd etc not left to scream but it doesn't seem to help.
Tiddly, got caught in rain this morning but on way home so could dry off. Glad your mate is 'updiffed' Since having DS have made friends with people with babies and is so nice to have people to share with and for DS to 'grow up' with some lovely mates.
