I don't believe this he's back up again _sad]

LovesBeingWearingSkinnyJeans · 01/04/2012 01:32

And it might be a trick of my brain but he seems to say m when he wants feeding. Not not a scream its m.

ssmile · 01/04/2012 08:35

I'm sorry so many of you are feeling :( hope the sleep dust fairy visits soon.

This may make you smile, I nearly bought some roller skates for my birthday in Feb had nice vision of pushing buggy whilst skating along our Seafront (in my new size 10jeans - ok I'm still a size14 but dreaming) :o. But I got all sensible after lookin at the cost of them and talked myself out of it. Then my friend bought some 2wks after having baby no3 and has been trying them out in local park, I was feeling jealous, then got chatting to another mum at school she said "oh yes I've got some too, fancy a race?" :) so now I'm on the look out for some skates. Sod it I thought I may be in the last year of my thirties but I still want to have fun. Anyone else got any or want to join me?

feralgirl · 01/04/2012 09:42

Grin @ roller skates! I'm going to pass because even when I was 10 and at my most athletic I was still total rubbish at skating! I'll do virtual skating and keep up with my jogging alongside you. Envy at size 14 though; I'm still a 16.

Are our babies all ganging up on us do you think? Have they all got secret iphones in their cots and they're all on www.babesnet.com, on their own version of this thread, scheming about how they're all going to work together to keep us all up all night? I can just imagine babyferalgirl sniggering away to herself about her behaviour yesterday.

feralgirl · 01/04/2012 09:44

Oh and loves, I swear DD was yelling mamamama at me the other night when she wanted feeding. DS's first sort of word was a similar sort of catch-all that meant "milk", "mummy" and "more" all at once.

sarahseager · 01/04/2012 09:44

Grin that sounds like fun ssmile - great that you have others to do it with too, I used to love roller skating but would have visions of spectacularly stacking it over the buggy if I tried now! Would be so lovely along the seafront though!

We had bit better night, lo awake few times but was able to settle her without feeding and without picking up which is a big positive! She's just gone down for her morning nap now which wasn't so easy but not gonna worry about that! Onwards and upwards!

Hope you all had better nights xx

sarahseager · 01/04/2012 09:46

Grin at babesnet.com! I definitely reckon they're ganging up on us!

LovesBeingWearingSkinnyJeans · 01/04/2012 09:54

Ferel yes we've got mama here too and he also seems to be saying the first letter of dd's name when he sees her.

sebs71 · 01/04/2012 10:52

Grin at babesnet.com Feral... that's hilarious. And, yes, I have a brilliant image of all our babes with their secret iPhones tapping away giggling to themselves.

Entry from Sebsbabe "He he... Mum went out last night, so I was a good girl for Daddy and went to sleep at about 7.45. But, heard her car on the drive about 10.30, so woke up and decided to scream for over an hour..., but eventually decided that perhaps I did need sleep after all and slept from 12.30am till 4am, until I decided I needed my dummy again..."

As the kids are with their Mum this week, we've decided to do the crying it out during the night as well as going to sleep now. So, first night - and she woke up the second I got home after a meal out with the girls (first since early December). But, after an hour and half of crying, settling, crying, settling etc (and me crying too) she did finally drop off till 4ish, settled again, then till 5, then we brought her into our room and she went till..........7.15!! Bliss. So, hopefully a goodish start, we'll see how the week goes. OH is prepared to do it,even thought he's got work.

Ssmile - that was a good thing you wrote - I just wish others wouldn't keep saying "ooh, she's 6 months is she, should be sleeping through now"... It makes you feel like you're doing something wrong - when, truth is, like you said, she's growing, eating food for the first time, taking in new things all the time - all things that'll keep you awake at night!

And, Grin to the skates!! Go girl!! I'd join you only I live on a 1 in 5 hill, so skates and pram NOT a good thing!!! Can see us disappearing down the hill rapidly, with Charlie Dog running after us!!

Good luck to us all with the sleep thing... let's all keep chanting

candr · 01/04/2012 20:48

Love the idea of skates but is all country paths around us. Did any one fall for any April Fools today?
LO took 6oz of formula at 6.45 slept for 30min, fed from me and has stayed asleep. Was awful last night so am really crossing fingers for tonight.
Sebs, hope things go better for you tonight.
Can't wait for DS to start talking, got lots of speech like sounds rather than gurgles but am very Envy of the 'mama's'

cakeismysaviour · 01/04/2012 22:35

Hello! How are you all, I haven't been around much as we have had to leave our flat for the time being. Long story, but if you are bored then you can read about it here - www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/1428124-My-neighbour-has-seriously-pissed-me-off

Anyway, we stayed at PIL's for a bit and I popped home every now and then to feed my mumsnet addiction but we are now in a bed and breakfast not far at all from home (we live on a seafront), because it was a bit cramped at PIL's and the landlord's insurance covers the cost on top of our rent of staying in this b&b. :) A few days it occured to me to switch on our wifi, come back here and see if I can use it from here. IT WORKS!!! Grin

I'm 17 weeks pregnant now and DS is now only waking once in the night most of the time. Grin

candr · 02/04/2012 20:11

Hello again Cake, Congrats on being pg Smile I think only one other person on here is so far. Well done for a sleeping DS, you will find lots of us very Envy. Sounds like you have been having a nightmare (haven't read full story) but hopefully things are not too stressful for you now.

ssmile · 03/04/2012 06:58

We had good night :o babe slept 6.45-10pm, feed, slept till 2am feed then woke 6.30am :o :o the first time since 12weeks old she done two four hour stretches of sleep. She did have good naps and good food yest with lots activity. No doubt it all go out the window tonight but it has generally been getting better. However DD1 got yet another cold (of course its half term cue whole family get ill again! ) so babe usually gets something from that Hohum.
Hope you all doing ok.

cake hope the temp housing doesn't last long that sounds awful.

sarahseager · 03/04/2012 08:37

Just popping in to say that lo slept from 7.30 - 6.30! I am still in shock! Have no idea how or why and I kept waking up wondering why it was so quiet!

I'm sure I have jinxed myself by talking about it and I'm sure it's a one off but it's nice to feel a bit more refreshed than normal! Grin

Hope you're all ok xx

100years · 03/04/2012 11:18

Hey all.

Well we've had 2 nights of LO being in her own room and 2 nights of me getting up 5 times to see to her. :( yesterday I was so tired I had a proper sense of humour bypass! I ended up climbing into bed at 9 last night so it didn't matter so much how many time I got up. But at 4 am when I was on the third visit in 3 hrs I wasn't happy! I managed to not feed her on one of the visits, but I still had to get up! Not sure I like her being in the other room if I'm going to have to go to bed at 9 to cope with 5 wakings. We'll see how it goes for a bit though. Looks like a couple of you are starting to get some better nights so I'll keep my fingers crossed. I've also been tearful through struggling to settle LO. She just cries when I try and get her off, but I know she needs it.

She is currently asleep on my chest. I'm not moving as I want to see how long she'll nap for on me, I think someone else mentioned it, but better naps in the day do generally equal better nights. And tbf I'd do almost anything to get a better night. At 2am I'd have given her formula if I thought it would actually help, and I love bf her, and I have nothing against ff, if it comes across like that, I just meant I'd stop doing what is really convenient and what works well.

I've got roller boots, but I fell last time i was on them so a bit nervous about doing it pushing a buggy, but I might change my mind.

Shit situation there for you cake. :( hope you are sorted soon and :) about being 17 weeks now.

I do like babesnet.com idea. Baby100 writes "wtf I'm in a room on my own, that person who feeds me whenever I want it isn't right next to me anymore. I'll show her"

I thought cake was our only pg person in here, who else is, I may have missed that update and therefore not said congrats.

We also get lots of 'mum' type sounds which are fab.

100years · 03/04/2012 15:02

tiddleypompom · 03/04/2012 17:33

Hi everyone! Just about to snatch a few mins to write and catch up, but DS has made that concentrated face & gone red - heralding the arrival of a full nappy. Quite pleased as this is a response to prune juice in water. A relief for us both!

Cake congrats on the bump - how exciting!

Must go and see what awaits... Best wishes to all :)

candr · 03/04/2012 19:23

Well done Sarah an Ssmile, long may it continue Smile. 100yrs your night is exactly why I am too scared to move DS to own room, he slept with me most of last night and screamed if I tried to put him in crib, he then drank me dry and leaked all over me at 4am. Really hope you can tell me it improves soon.

100years · 03/04/2012 19:38

Candr, so do I. Part of me thinks it was a stupid idea moving her cot when she's still feeding so much, but then there is a part of me that wonders if I am disturbing her. I won't leave it for long though, of it continues past the weekend I will probably say its not happening at the moment and move the cot back, but I think I need to try it for a while. She's started taking more food in now with the blw and so I'm hoping maybe she will be a bit fuller for bed. I just don't really know what is best. But I won't be up and down for weeks on end, as it's only me that does it because of feeding.

Hope the nappy wasn't too grim TP and glad the prune juice seemed to help.

sarahseager · 04/04/2012 07:24

Hi all,

I told you it was a one off! Confused

Lo back to her normal wakeful self last night! We did mess with things as we were at my mum & dads all day for my mums 60th birthday so lo was put to bed in her travel cot, we've done this a couple of times before and managed to transport her all the way home asleep but this time she woke!

She missed the window for an afternoon nap yesterday and was very overtired, she was in bed just before 7 in the end! She was back in her cot at home by 9.45 but then kept waking every hour, ending up with me bringing her in bed at 1 as i get so fed up of keep going into her room and she slept till about 5 on and off!

I'm now going to have a duvet day and be home all day and stick closely to her routine with naps etc and hope for a better night again tonight!

She's tugging/rubbing her ear a lot too so wondering about teeth?!

Hope you're all ok xx

sebs71 · 04/04/2012 08:04

Back to being snowysebs today... woke up to 5 inches of snow Shock Shock !!! So, housebound today me thinks, and OH is off to the offshore oil rig until tomorrow (weather permitting) so it'll just be me, LO and Charlie dog!

Sarah - hope things improve then... Ours is going to be bed earlier and earlier, but seems to be bringing better sleeps. We've managed to keep her in her cot these last few days - have to visit her a fair few times in the night, but they're short visits. Haven't had the hour long crying for two nights now... so fingers crossed...

100years - I've been going to be bed at 9 for ages now!!! Can't function much afterwards, as we're up around 5.30am most days now... hope your visits get fewer and fewer and she stays in her own room. I always go to bed feeling a bit guilty that she's on her own in her room, but it's much better for her (better night's sleep) and for us ... although with OH away tonight, I expect I'll get her about 11ish, and she'll stay with me Grin !!!

Ssmile - hope things continue to improve re the sleeping!

TP - hope the poop went ok!! I'm awaiting a big one from LO too (as she hasn't been since 10am yesterday ... yikes!)

Candr - we're also jealous of the mamas etc.... although she does babble loads, particularly first thing in the morning - I reckon she's telling me her dreams!

Cake - hope things are better now wrt the flat...are you back in? Hope landlord sorts everything out for you, and :) on the 17 weeks!

We're back to the blowing raspberries now! Making meals so much fun!!!

Also, my friend had LO for about 3 hours for me yesterday... first time she was cared for by someone other than me or OH!!! Went fine, she fell asleep on a walk for about an hour of it! I went off for a Hot Stones Back Massage - heaven!! Trying to get my aching back better... I was soooo nervous but glad it seemed to go fine. My friend said she'd have her again in a few weeks :)

Well, order of the day - make a snowbaby!!! It is April, isn't it???

sarahseager · 04/04/2012 08:44

Wow to snow sebs lovely to see but not great for getting out and about with babes! Glad you have seen some improvement in the night, hope all goes well with oh away.

100 I have been going to bed about 8.30 for a long while now, I sometimes read for a bit just to chill but its the only way I survive by getting as much rest in that early part of the night when she sleeps better.

Off to put lo down for first nap of the day now, held her to sleep again as can't be dealing with the screaming this morning! Oops inconsistent mummy Hmm

sarahseager · 04/04/2012 08:45

Ps minkyjj & queengeek haven't heard from you both in a while, hope all is ok?

tiddleypompom · 04/04/2012 08:53

Morning all!
As I type the snow is coming down thick and fast outside - not sticking as yet but extraordinary just the same, considering this time last week my Dad came over to visit and we all sat outside in the baking sunshine with LO on his mat in the shade. Bizarre. I am just so relieved that I am not working at the moment as I absolutely hate driving in the snow

Blowing raspberries during feeding - yes to that! I tend to get a 15-20 min slot of decent feeding (spoon feeding puree) and then he starts to chat, blow bubbles and generally get active. Cue puree splats on floor, mummy, walls etc. He then likes to start chewing his bib. By this time I have given up on the puree and give him something to chew on to distract from bib/table. Sigh. I just hope he gets some table manners before his first date ;)

Sorry to hear that sleep is still elusive for some babies (and therefore mums). I definitely echo the 'good naps, good night' mantra. Still going through here (am v lucky) though 5am is a 'danger time' with a light sleep - any noise/banging pipes etc can tip him over to awake at that time (it was the bin men this morning) and then I have to get up and try to get him back to sleep till a more sociable time. Feels grim at the time, but I know it's not bad really!

sarah we have much ear tugging here too. I was worried it might be an ear ache, but as he is generally well I wasn't sure. Is it a sign of teething? This would make more sense.

Right - morning nap almost over so I'd better go and seek out some warm clothes for the little chap. We normally go for a walk at around 10am with DS in the backpack carrier. It may be a chilly stroll this morning but I am loathe to miss it as DS loves looking around and chatting in my ear. I wonder what he'll make of the snow...

Happy days all.

p.s. also go to bed at 9pm - and later is a 'treat' for example tonight as the Apprentice is on :o

sarahseager · 04/04/2012 17:23

Hi tiddleypompom - I had ready that ear tugging can be a sign of teething, although also tiredness and ear ache! Conflicting advice as ever Smile
My lo has been doing a lot of other teething signs as well on and off for ages so I was wondering if the ear tug meant we were getting closer! Probably not Wink

I too stay up for the apprentice as a treat! Grin I was going to give it a miss tonight as I was so tired but think I will stay up anyway as it's nice to have some time awake chilling with babe in bed. Will probably regret it in the morning though! Smile
