Hey everyone... sorry can't be long so can't reply to everyone, but ouch to nipping babies, boo to going back to work and wow to babies crawling and standing :) That's impressive, 100 and glad you had a nice Baptism day with LO, if tiring.

Feral - that's a good idea on the black out blind front. LO has a really small window so hard to find curtains or blind, but homemade with velcro sounds good!

Why oh why can't I sleep with OH is away??? Got LO settled about 8ish (think we've cracked the settling to sleep - it's maintaining it now!) and got to bed myself about 8.30 (as kids with their Mum) and LO sleeps well for first couple of hours, but I just couldn't sleep - think I'm anticipating her waking (I'm a crap sleeper anyway). 10.15 and the first cries for dummy retrieval, then every half hour, so in the end I put her in my bed :) Probably slept in bursts of 45 to 60 mins... but did sleep as I had lots of different dreams! But, clock watched all night. But didn't feel too bad in the morning and better after a shower. Though, knackered now... thankfully OH home tomorrow! Short trip this time.

But, been for two lovely walks today - the sun is shining now, gorgeous evening :) This is when I am really thankful I live in the countryside (as in Winter, not quite so!) Right, best go, time to feed LO!

Hope everyone has a good night tonight... sweet dreams to you and LOs!

Minkyjj · 21/03/2012 22:37

Sorry for being absent ladies and for not reading back too far. Organising baptism - potentially 200 to celebration (80 kids !). Absolutely exhausted. Lo still up 2 hourly for feeds or more. Trying to stayon top of big house and garden and deal with two older dcs who have tons of homework and one is studying for grammar school entrance and needing support. Still waiting for lo to see paediatrician about possible lactose intolerance. Dh stressed with running his business but good news is that generally we are happy just a bit stressed. Also wanted to share a tip on lovely red wine (testing for baptism) - lidl do a litre bottle la cytellele pays doc 2011 - £3.99 - gorgeous.
Hope you are soloist ladies x

Minkyjj · 21/03/2012 22:38

Meant to say hope you are all okay ladies !

100years · 22/03/2012 11:19

OMG I'm so tired at the moment and struggling a little with it. Last night LO decided to feed at 11:45 (I'd just managed to fall asleep) 2:20, 3:45, 5:15, 6 something, then awake at 8:30. Zombie days. No such luck with better sleeping, although I don't think she's actually eating that much just yet ssmile.

ssmile, I'm using a spouted cup and a doily cup for LO, she takes the spouted one really well, but then ends up banging it on the highchair tray, when she has the doily I kind of hold it more firmly so she can't bang it.

Wow Minky, that's one big baptism! We had about 40 come to our do!

Remember ages ago I said I wanted to sit in a big comfy armchair, have someone bring LO to me when she needed feeding, and just veg out, well I feel much like that again today! Bah. Never mind, it's not going to happen, so dreaming about it isn't going to help.

Got to ring work and speak to my boss about what flexible working shifts they allow. Hmm slightly nervous. Not going back till August, but need to think about it now as I work shifts and if I need childcare and when. Confused

ssmile · 22/03/2012 14:18

Maybe there was something in the air last night 100 my Lo had crap night too and I'm feelin really tired this week and eating too much sugar not helping either :( don't think I'm gonna lose any weight this week either. I've just emailed my boss my Flexi application to start in Aug, fingers crossed its ok as I'm asking for 75% hrs over 4days. I don't want to work 4days but I did this after my other DD then got them to 3days after I proved I could do it so we shall see. Gd luck 100 with your shifts, budge up I'll join you on the large comfy chair and wait for a cuppa&chocolate cake to come along :o I can do virtual calories no problem

candr · 22/03/2012 20:13

wow Minky, that is more than double our wedding size.
Ssmile, I am def not loosing any weight as have just eaten whole easter egg.
100, my LO was also awake like yours, 2.30,3,4.15,6 by which point we gave up and I came downstairs. I couldn't believe he slept till 2am though from 9pm, that is a good night for us Grin

feralgirl · 22/03/2012 20:24

Hi everyone. Hope you've all coped with sleep deprivation today. I couldn't sleep last night for fretting about money and I feel throughly rubbish today too.

Sad at all this thinking about work. I was in for a KIT day today and the end of my mat leave is fast approaching (I'm back in mid-April). I really missed DD today and it's all beginning to feel more real now Sad I just can't believe it's nearly over.

Hey, Queen, are you out there? Haven't heard from you in ages; I hope you're all OK and the house sale is moving along happily.

Right. I have got to go and sort out some dinner. I STILL haven't got a working oven, my new one was delivered today and the electrician came to wire it up and we discovered that it needs some extra work as it's a higher wattage than the old one (or something like that Confused) so he's got to come back tomorrow and do it. I was planning to have a jacket potato, baked in my shiny new oven tonight but that ain't gonna happen so I've got to go and find something that can be fried or boiled on the hob I suppose.

I've been without an oven for weeks now. All I want to do is have a roast chicken, bake bread and make cakes and biscuits with DS. I'm so bored of rice, cous cous and mash! I want to have roasted vegetables!

Minkyjj · 22/03/2012 22:20

Feral - hope you get your oven soon, must be tricky. Had a few "no"s to the baptism today (thank goodness !) it's big because i am linked to two local churches and also have a large family and friends to invite. Trust me, I would have enjoyed a small do ! Exhausted - still lo is up every 2 hours despite being on 3 meals a day (eats a jar of baby food plus fruit purée per meal !) - I am exhausted !

sarahseager · 23/03/2012 09:15

Sending hugs to all those struggling with sleep deprivation!

I am firmly in that camp after a thoroughly rubbish night - my eyes are burning!

Lo was out of sorts yesterday and would only nap if I fed her and she would then feed to sleep - is very unusual for her as she will normally happily go off in my arms - all attempts at self settling have gone out the window over the last couple of days as she has been getting so upset about it.

At night she normally manages her biggest chunk of sleep at the beginning of the night but last night she was awake earlier than normal at 10pm, then tried for two hours to get her back to sleep but she would only sleep when held and when she was in her cot she was thrashing around (sounds like your lo sebs) and frantically swinging her head from side to side - was quite odd to watch!

I then gave in and put her in our bed where she fell straight to sleep!! Seemed to be needing a lot of comfort for some reason! She then slept off and on until 5, she wasn't hungry so that wasn't waking her but just seemed quite uncomfortable in herself, I wish I could get her to relax that's always been my biggest wish seeing her go through the discomfort that her reflux causes.

Hey ho, she's now asleep in my arms so I'm going to try her cot again! At least the sun is shining today to make things seem better.

Hope you are all ok xx

feralgirl · 23/03/2012 11:25

DD slept from 7.30pm to 6am last night Grin

ssmile · 23/03/2012 19:07

Wow feralgirl so Envy I feel fed up this week :( eaten too much not slept much, babe had her first two accidents banged head on change table trying to launch herself off I did catch her! And tonight fell forward onto fireplace bruised &cut above her eye poor mite, then I found very red raw under one of her armpits in the bath tonight so feelin like bad mummy tonight, am now in bed at 7pm both DDs in bed so i can get early night and attempt to catch up with a little sleep tonight.

Fingers crossed we can all get some of feralgirl magic sleep dust:)

candr · 23/03/2012 19:40

Nice one Feral, is good to know it is possible. Made musical instruments with LO today and he walloped me on the nose with one and giggled at me when I got tears- little sadist!
Looking forward to more good weather just wish DH was home this weekend. Here's to a good night!

sarahseager · 23/03/2012 20:38

Wow feral that is amazing! I'm so very jealous but so pleased for you! Hope it continues xx

feralgirl · 23/03/2012 21:56

Aww Sad Ssmile. DD had a grotty armpit a little while ago and has had way more bumps and scrapes than DS ever did because my attention is split between the two of them. DS would never have got manky armpits as I used to bathe him scrupulously every night and then massage him all over. DD's lucky if I remember to use sudocrem Blush Although she never has nappy rash so is clearly none the worse off.

Musical instruments sounds fun Candr, were you doing good stuff for banging or something more full on? I tend to shy away from doing crafty stuff with DS and favour gardening or baking as I end up with something useful at the end! I really should make more effort though.

100years · 23/03/2012 22:17

ssmile, I hope you get the hours you are requesting. Turns out I will probably not be starting back at work till September as I will have some leave over August to take :) Woohoo. But it does look like we might not need childcare. As we have all said to each other so far, accidents happen, you can't go worrying about knocks that LOs get, but you know this yourself. And as for the raw skin, you think you have dried them, and they wriggle or whatever and you miss a bit, it will heal really quickly, it's not a bad mummy, it's babies who don't lie still anymore, blame them Wink

candr, yeah a good stretch at the beginning of the night is nice, but I very rarely go to bed early enough to take advantage of it! I ought to be in bed now, but I am catching up on things. Musical instruments sound cool.

feral, :( boo to you having the going back to work feeling more real now, I don't want to think about returning yet, even though I've had to in case we needed to sort out nursery, but once my shifts are set then I don't have to worry about it till a few months down the line. Glad you had a decent night, someone ought to be!

Minky, I empathise with the frequent wakings.

Sarah, I've had a few sessions with LO in bed next to me too, she just seemed more settled that way and I got a bit more sleep. Fortunately I still have the sidecar cot thing going on, so there is bags of room, even if I have my arm in her cot :)

We've had more bumps here, mainly face planting from some furious crawling around, I think LO is getting ahead of herself now she is more confident and then all of a sudden moves her legs and her arms are too far back, cue face hitting the floor. Sometimes she is OK with it, sometimes she does that proper hurt cry. Poor thing, she had a thick lip the other day from it, but it's not stopped her. The using things as something to help her get onto her feet is continuing with gusto! I have an ace pic of her using a box to stand.

Well, I think that's my lot for this evening. :)

sarahseager · 24/03/2012 07:55

Lo is so random! She slept from 7.30 - 12.45 quick feed and back down until 6.30! Grin No idea how but I'm not gonna analyse that this time and just enjoy! I reckon it was you feral spreading the sleep vibes Wink

Have lovely sunny days everyone!

100years · 24/03/2012 12:49

I wouldn't analyse it Sarah, just enjoy the fact it happened :)

I had another dreadful night :( Bah. LO wouldn't really settle and only really did so when she was on me!

ssmile · 24/03/2012 17:58

:o for the babes that are sleeping

:( for the babes that aren't hope u have better nights tonight.

Lo slept okish last night 7-10pm fed, 12.30fed, ignored her she resettled at 2.30, fed 5.30 and went back to sleep until 7.30 so a lie in for me :) she resettles quickly at 2am now I just wish she would stop waking up hopefully that will come.
we walked to the beach today but Lo decided to completely fill her nappy when we settled down for a picnic, so trip back to pub toilet to get her changed. beautiful day ere once seamist burnt off hope you all got to enjoy some sunshine too. It's nice for DD1 to play outside now.

candr · 24/03/2012 20:19

Ooh, like the sound of more babies sleeping, hope we catch up soon.
Feral, we just used coke bottles and filled them with dry noisy stuff like pastaa and bottle tops, add some glitter for visual effect (and it looks so pretty) then bang them loudly on saucepans and pots. He like swatching me garden but worried when I thought he ate the carrott seeds but was just happily chewing old empty pack from greenhouse.
Had lovely day in garden today with LO tasting grass and mud - not that keen which is good for me. Need to get baby sunblock and hat - loving the sun. Makes it easier to forget crappy nights and he slept outside in the fresh air which I love.
100yrs, your poor LO with thick lip - lots of cuddles and back for next round with whatever gets in the way.
Ssmile, what a nice day for the beach, can't wait for LO to see the sea and paddle.

feralgirl · 24/03/2012 20:39

Ooh, beach. Good one Ssmile. We haven't yet this year as, even though it's glorious sunshine, it's still really windy but if this Easter's anything like last year then we'll be there soon I'm sure.

The rattly bottles sound great Candr, it reminded me that somewhere I have some similar from when DS was this age but filled with glitter and coloured water. They are great for them to push around the floor.

100, we have similar minor injuries too, lots of face-plants and bumps from trying to pull herself up. She keeps pulling herself up onto her feet , trying to take a step and then twisting and falling over sideways. I am really not ready for this yet! My MiL came over today and said that it seems like she never really did being a proper baby, just lying still and taking in the world.

Right. DH is trying to settle her but she is properly howling and I know he'll lose his rag soon after a long day at work so I'd better go and help out.

She didn't do another full night again last night btw. Awake for an hour and a half from 2am Sad Clearly it was just a fluke Sad

sebs71 · 26/03/2012 19:48

Reading back through recent posts, think there is one consistent message re sleeping - nothing is consistent!!!!!! We're the same here - a couple of good nights (one, LO managed to stay in her bed till 6am!) and then a return to the same thrashing about, so having to have her in our bed. But, I've given up analysing it too. Sarah our LOs do sound similar in the thrashing about thing - my LO thrashes her head side to side too.

Yay to the weather and beaches etc! We went for a walk yesterday (3 hours, but with a break at the seaside in Prestatyn in the middle) and sat by the sea feeding LO her lunch! Wasn't quite on the beach (as tide was in!). But glorious day. OH has one of those framed rucksacks to carry her so it's walking most weekends now!

Feral - not quite sure what your MiL means... what baby lies still and takes in the world???? Does it happen???

Had a few days were LO started blowing raspberris all the time - including during meals so I was pretty much covered in purees!! But, she's seems to have calmed down a bit with it now - it's tongue pulling now!

Right, sorry, quick catch up - but hope all babies currently able to crawl/stand and having accidents are doing ok, and no more bumps and scrapes... though I guess it goes with the territory.

Sprinkling sleep dust to all...

sarahseager · 26/03/2012 19:59

You're so right sebs inconsistency is totally the thing with our lo. A good night will be up once then back down in her bed until just after 6am a bad night will be lots of thrashing and then she'll come in our bed as that's the best way for us all to get some rest! Smile

Lo has been a little gem today, maybe she loves the weather too! She just can't seem to stop smiling today! She's also wolfed down loads of houmous on toasty fingers and had some little bits of olives for tea! V.proud mummy tonight!

Hope you're all enjoying the weather. Have great nights everyone xx Smile

sebs71 · 27/03/2012 08:16

Yes, Sarah, that's exactly our LO (except a good night would be a few visits to her in the night, but in her bed till 6am too). Well done on the houmous! My LO didn't like the taste at all! But, that's a very Meditterrean diet - houmous and olives! (Goes with the weather!)

But, bad night last night, was awake either going to her or rocking her to try and get her back to sleep for about 4 hours in the middle of it so have had about 4 hours sleep in total.... but feel better now after a shower!

feralgirl · 27/03/2012 09:29

Gah, had an utterly hideous few days. DD has spent most of the last two days howling and taking literally hours to get settled for naps and at bedtime. She's been awake half the night, woke up at 5.45 this morning.

I have completely lost it - especially after doing a full day in school yesterday - and DH and I have been being vile to each other. To the point where I sat down on Sunday evening and told him that I want us to separate for a bit. I'm not really sure that I do, I think I'm just exhausted and stressed about going back to work, worried about money and haven't been able to exercise properly for a fortnight as I pulled a muscle so feeling rubbish.

DD was being so impossible at bedtime last night that I actually had to walk away and leave her to cry for a few minutes as I was just getting that knot of frustration and helplessness after having fed her, cuddled her and shush-patted her for an hour and a half. Then had to do it all again right the way through in the night, with a slight break for her to vomit in my hair and all over my bed Angry Sad

She has just properly pulled herself up on to her feet using the sofa though, and wobbled along cruising a couple of steps too so that's quite exciting. However she's now grizzling again so is probably already wanting a nap, having been awake since before the crack of dawn this morning.

I think I need a tattoo with "these things shall pass".

sebs71 · 27/03/2012 16:41

Feral - sending virtual hugs your way. Hope things get better for you quickly and you get some much needed sleep. When I'm exhausted, OH seems to get it in the neck too, just seems like a target for frustration... I'm consciously trying not too... I hope you and DH work things out - sure they will when there's light at the end of the tunnel.

Keep chanting that mantra...
