Hi All, I thought I'd start a new 2006 thread for the October 2004 Mummies and Babies.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
KathH · 21/05/2006 21:46

moley is quite good at temper tantrums as well. On Friday night he yanked a great chunk of my hair out when he was having a strop. Beginning to think it must be something about October babies! DD1 & DS1 who were born in Feb are really laid back & dd2 & moley who are October babies are both foul tempered.

cazzybabs · 21/05/2006 21:55

OHH and am depresses as AF started - last month 4 days late and this month 3 days earlier!!! I had forgotton what a stress TTC is!!!

biglips · 21/05/2006 22:51

oh no cazzy - try and chill out abit and you may get pg better as not good when all stressed up - fingers cross xxxxx

oh thanks Kathh - i just need to know that about foul tempered october babies !!! (sigh!!) as she even kicked her foot in my eye too - ouch! when i was trying to change her nappy

maisiemog · 22/05/2006 13:05

I tend to use the feedback here as a kind of forecast because Alf is about a month younger than the other babies it give me an idea of what to expect. And... looking forward to being clumped around the face (not!)
I don't think Alfie is actually cross at me at the moment, more when he is doing something and it doesn't work out, he shouts a bit and might chuck it away, but he generally just shouts at me and doesn't really hit in anger. He does hit though and I have to hold onto his hands and tell him no.
Are the other babies still chubby? I'm starting to get paranoid because I met a couple of people recently with quite chubby babies just younger than Alfie, whereas Alfie doesn't have an ounce of fat. I suppose they are like this when they near two. When I think about my friends with older babies, theirs were very slim.
Grace sounds very determined Cazzy, she was an early walker too wasn't she? Is she quite a handful?
I find the most challenging thing about Alfie is he is just into everything and seems to get more and more mad as he gets older. He now climbs up onto the toilet cystern, crawls along the bathroom shelf and opens the medicine cabinet, bit of a shock the first time he did that - and he is sooo fast. I'm totally knackered and my joints are aching from constantly bending down and grabbing him.
Does anyone use parents as childminders?
I would actually feel bad giving Alfie to my mum for more than a day (she's 63). Do your parents get tired with the babies and children?
How is Moley getting on Kath, is his health OK now?

I'm just getting used to baby geog being a fast movement it is a shock to now have him walking he is so not a baby any more. He also has verbal diahorea - I think its just because he has to compete with his brother and sister but suddenly he talks all the time. On Friday we fly to Scotland for a wedding, 2 nights in a hotel, 2 nights in a youth hostel (and visit to Balamory!) then friends flat in Linlithgow for 4 nights. I really can't quite see how he will stay still on the plane and to be honest the thought of him on a boat is scary!

jbadgirl · 22/05/2006 21:52

Hello everyone, trying to catch up with all the posts, blimey there are loads to read!!!

Well my wedding went really well and without a hitch (excuse the pun)!!! Will try and put a pic on for you all to see.

Ds finally has a tooth coming through and now has a lovely pair of glasses which seem to be helping him focus and fix on things a little better. He still has the NG tube in, which also seems to be helping him with his strength.

A friend of ours wants to get a skydive organised to raise money for him, which i thought was sooo sweet.

Been on our honeymoon and left ds behind too, really missed him but we had a nice break and phoned home everyday to get news on him!!!

Hope all are ok, i will try to keep up with this thread now as all the organising is over!!!!!

cazzybabs · 22/05/2006 22:12

Jbadgirl - huge congrats!!!! ALthough not so difference as it was before hey!!!! Did it rain or was it sunny? Can't wait to see the photos. Did Jay enjoy the day? How does it like his glasses - does he keep taking them off? Where are you going on your honeymoon?

Also biglips saw on another thread you were going for a job. Any news? Also didn't realise you were deaf! Well I guess I wouldn't!

biglips · 23/05/2006 00:13

Jbadgirl- CONGRATS XXXXXX (where the photies as i must see them at once!! Wink

cazzy - yes i am deaf (born deaf) but bought up in a hearing world and atm im teaching my DD sign lang too, she picked it up so quick!

cazzybabs · 23/05/2006 20:00

(soory biglips - hope I haven't offended you by asking??) Is your dd deaf? Is your husband? Please don't answer if you don't want to! It just thats what I love about Mumsnet - a chance to meet people you wouldn't otherwise meet! It is just I don't know anyone else deaf - well apat from a child at school and he is deaf in one ear and mostly deaf in the other - but you wouldn't know as he copes so well (is naughty mad for football)

biglips · 23/05/2006 20:07

Grin.... my DD is hearing and so it my Dp. i was born deaf as mum had the German measles BUT my mums sister is deaf too so maybe i was gonna be deaf anyway but never know! as im severe in one ear and profound in the other but went to a mainstream school with a hearing impairment unit for any extra help eg english, maths if needed...i was brought up in a hearing world so probably thats why ive got an excellent speech and an excellent lipreader too so i know what people are saying in pubs cos i can lipread them meaning im nosey!!! hee hee!!! Grin

cazzybabs · 23/05/2006 20:23

The hearing imapired unit lady came into school and made us have a go a lip reading and it was impossible and she was doing is very slowly! I am glad we are still friends!

biglips · 23/05/2006 20:29

lol- as i find it hard to lipread people who speaks too slow as its more hard work to concentrate with their mouth so wide open!!!

biglips · 23/05/2006 20:29

how is your married life treating you?

cazzybabs · 23/05/2006 20:32

Oh vastly different!!!! Oh god I have aremd and unnapped Grace our bed with a toothbrush saying Mummy! Except I am abit fatter (although only a depressing sense not in a pregancy sense!). But I do have a nice ring with a ruby to wear and look at throughout the day!

When are you getting married? How is your mother?

biglips · 23/05/2006 20:40

we love to get married one day as time is not right atm cos of money as im going back to work full time so the job hunt is on (me nad dp had been engaged for 2 years) but just found out that he doesnt want a registery office wedding - eek!! as i cant deal with big weddings as i used to model wedding dresses for mum as she used to be partnership with my aunty designing and making bridal dresses - fab stuff! im looking into either a small castle wedding, Gretna green or abroad!

Me and mum are getting on a hell lot better as she is not getting on my nerves Wink!!!! but she is fine too

geogteach · 24/05/2006 19:54

Cazzy tp add to the deaf people you 'know' my DS1 (5) is deaf too. He has severe/ profound high frequency deafness but is totally oral and in mainstream.

I feel like an old married woman talking to you lot, i've been married nearly 11 years and on Saturday i'm going to a school friends wedding, she fainted during the ceremony at my wedding, i'm hopping not to return the favour!

maisiemog · 24/05/2006 22:41

Did you have one of those strobe lights going at your wedding or something Geog. Grin

maisiemog · 25/05/2006 19:56

Hi Biglips, she looks about the same size as some three year olds I know. Grin Did you pass your bsl exam a while back I can't remember if you said.
I work in a library, it's quite dull, but the hours are perfect for Alfie.

jbadgirl · 25/05/2006 20:57

Cazzy - it did rain when i got out the car and into the church but luckily it had stopped by the time the service was over. At least there was no glare on any of the photos and they all came out really well. Have been trying to upload the pics but they are too big, need to tweak them!!

Toby has just figured out how to take his glasses off but has only done it twice so far.

He is just getting his first tooth now!!!!!

And we had the ed psych coming out soon to do his statement so he can go to a special needs school.aggggghhhhh!!!

We went on our honeymoon 2 weeks ago to Majorca and the weather was lovely, Tobs stayed at home with granma and she did a fantastic job rallying him around to nursery, theraplay and hydro therapy!! Her main issue was the tube feeding as she was soooo anxious about it. She did well but on the first day he was being sick and it came out his mouth...what a good start for a nervous granma!!!

jbadgirl · 25/05/2006 20:58

Ps i work in a day nursery, im the deputy manager too!!!!!

maisiemog · 25/05/2006 23:05

Hee hee naughty Toby taking off his specs. Mind you, I don't know many babies that would't chuck them. It's difficult enough to get them to keep a sunhat on. Shock
How long will he need the tube, have the doctors said?
I'm looking forward to seeing the wedding and some photos of Toby in his wedding outfit. Smile

Alfie clumped my mum today. DP told me that she had taken away something from Alf and he had hit her on the chin. Then he looked shocked and did that turned down mouth thing that is so funny and he cried and hugged my mum and gave her kisses (his version of a kiss) for ages.
