Hi All, I thought I'd start a new 2006 thread for the October 2004 Mummies and Babies.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mum2sam · 10/01/2006 23:39

Happy new year everyone. My sams got podgy feet too maisiemog just like me dh is only a size 9 where as im a size 8 I cant believe how expensive toddler shoes are and the fact you have to go back after 6-8wks to get remeasured at this rate ds will have more shoes then me! Did any one buy the cruising shoes from clarks? You can even get ones for crawling.Ive been hanging on to get sams first proper walking shoes hoping that they would be on sale but no such thing.

Im constantly humming the balamory tune too and ds favourite chucklevision! That is the only programme he will sit still for-for the whole duration I dont get it.

biglips · 11/01/2006 09:19

hiya everyone... hope youre able to get better on your sore back (you havent got long now till Evie will be born and it will be less pressure on your back)

baba still got no shoes as yet as i was on the verge of buying some last week but decided to hold on a bit longer (prefer till next month) as she had outgrown her soft shoes (she got big feets btw as her socks are for 2 yrs old since she was 1!! as Dp is size 11 and im 7)

biglips · 11/01/2006 09:24

oh and baba nearly got all her teeth apart from the top molars (she is teething atm and she is having shitty nappies one after the other as it goes thru her)

maisie - no she hadnt bought the table in (yet!)

i went to my friends house on monday and she got a boy who is 19 mths old.. it was funny cos babab was chasing around after him trying to kiss him and he was running away from her .. later, they had their lunch and left the bib on, poor boy was nearly geting strangled by baba as she was just trying to get it off him (she is too strong for her own likings)

maisiemog · 11/01/2006 17:58

Oh no! It's such a nighmare £25 every 6 weeks for a pair of shoes. I'm not doing that! He doesn't really need proper shoes anyway, whenever he wants to go faster he either runs and falls over then ends up crawling or just does bear walking (when the legs and arms are straight), so we end up polishing the floor at the shopping centre.
The woman at Lewis' told my mum they all start off with wide fittings and then go down. But he might have my feet, I'm a 5 and a half (which I can never get), but I've got wide feet so I end up buying a 6, which is too long in the toe, then I trip up all the time.
Alf is still coughing despite giving him Meltus cough medicine for chesty coughs. Is there a better cough medicine for toddlers?
I reckon that trip to the Hossy on Friday gave him some new germs, 'cos the snot's back today!
Is Chucklevision like this 'Chucklechucklevision chuchucklevison'?
The other song that's quite catchy is 'Everybody know Bodger likes mashed potato..." and change the name to Alfie.

No i'm not spanish but MIL is. Baby geog is currently refusing breakfast which has the cumulative effect of him demanding about 6 courses at dinner time. Anyone else have a child who can devour the most enormous portion of something one day and behave like they've been poisened when offered the leftovers the next? 6 courses and never the same thing 2 days running (and lactose free) is testing my imagination!

maisiemog · 11/01/2006 21:56

Yes Geog, me too!!
I was thinking I was the only one with the fussy baby! It's quite boring making stuff and then they don't like it and then making something else etc.. meanwhile you are starving and haven't time to make yourself a decent lunch.
If it weren't for dp I would have cereal at least twice a day.
I made tuna fishcakes with peas for Alfie's lunch. He loved them and ate his and some of mine. Then I offered him a teeny bit before dinner and he went 'uck' and chucked it on the floor. Then did eat a smelly old jar of Hipp baby food (well 3/4).
I've gone back to making porridge for Alf, as it keeps for a few days and you can stick in fruit and things, and it doesn't matter if he doesn't like it, plenty more in the fridge.
Apparently they need a lot less energy after one, as their growth slows down, so Baby Geog is probably is getting loads.
I was getting fed up with Alfie's fickle eating and looked up 14 month old nutrition. Most sites said it wasn't uncommon for babies between one and two years, to eat only one full meal a day and to leave full meals virtually untouched. And of course there is the old chestnut 'they won't starve themselves' which I suppose is true.
However, it's a pain I agree.
Did you think of a new name yet?

Thats reasurring to hear maisiemog.Sam only ever seems to eat his breakfast and one meal a day the rest is thrown on the floor How much milk does your babbas have sam has 3 6oz bottles still of cows milk if he doesnt eat well then i swith his bed time bottle to follow on milk.

Yeah thats the right one chuckle, chucklevision sam loves them he prefers them to the tweenies, teletubbles ttc wgich is strange.

biglips · 12/01/2006 09:20

same here as i made a mini pizza, with smily faces potato thingy with peas and she flunged it on the floor so i made her cheese on toast and she ate it all!!

florenceuk · 12/01/2006 11:02

If DD doesn't eat I don't make anything else but just move onto dessert (yog and fruit). Actually she is not great on breakfast and only so-so on lunch - but much better at tea. DS opposite - eats two bowls of cereal for breakfast and zilch for tea - as he has sweet tooth I think. We stick to cereal for breakfast, sandwiches or something with toast for lunch (like beans or egg) and then the usual teatime things.

biglips · 12/01/2006 16:30

CAZZY - are you the one who had bought kittens not long ago?? if yes how are you getting on with them? as im thinking of getting one too

geogteach · 12/01/2006 19:22

I wouldn't mind but by 4.30 he is screeching at the top of his voice because he is starving,

biglips · 12/01/2006 19:23

who?? geog

maisiemog · 12/01/2006 21:44

Quite often with Alfie, I start brek at 8:30 and he eats a bit. I then leave the bowl on the table and offer him some at about 10:30 and he eats a bit more.
I used to give him a lot of snacks, but I found that he didn't eat much at meals (surprise) so now he gets a couple of bits of apple and that's it.
I have also found that leaving a gap between meals of about 4 hours means he eats more. Hee Hee!

OP posts:
maisiemog · 12/01/2006 21:49

I don't know about milk, Alfie is bf, but he has about 5 or 6 feeds in 24 hours.
He's asleep now, but he will probably wake between now and 2am for a feed, then he will probably wake up at 7:15 and have a feed then attack me for about 30 minutes until I get up.

cazzybabs · 13/01/2006 20:40

Biglips - yes yes yes....we love them! they are soo funny- they chase each other round and round and we lie in bed and hear them thundering up and down downstairs. And now they are curled uo asleep in a box post-assult by Grace sho kisses them and then hits them. Althought they are so big now = its like babies only worst - why can't things say small for longer (like my waist after chocolate!!!)

Grace is a pickle with food too too - she only eats fruit and veg (well and junk food) - today she ate baked beans, some pasta but not the sausages...where as her sister ate a bit of pasta and all the sausages!

Ia m feeling ill today - have a sore throat and a runny nose - ahhh I love being back at school.

biglips · 13/01/2006 21:44

aww!! as ive started a thread under Pets - why i should NOT buy a kitten... ive had loads of stuff on there

whats your opinion pls?

yeah my nose is feeling abit stuffy (again!!)

maisiemog · 13/01/2006 23:24

Kittens are cute. I can think of some cons though. My last cat: Titus, cost me over £2000 in vet's bills when he got ill, he had to get about three, expensive innoculations a year, his food stank and cost lot, he was a very fussy eater, he was long-haired and needed to be groomed twice a day, but I didn't have time and had to have him shorn two or three times, he would never pee in his litter tray, he pooped in odd places, he would vomit and not tell me, he needed to be wormed and de-flead regularly, he smelled a bit, sometimes poop would stick in the fur around his bum and he would sit on the sofa, he was very rude, I couldn't go on holiday without making lots of cat-sitting arrangements - these are the reasons I don't get another cat, plus they do need a lot of love and attention and get fed-up without it.
You always have to get home to feed them, let them in/out, change their cat litter (oh and that's another one)
Those enough for you....
I took Alfie round to the local softplay today. He just wandered around looking at the other children and kept walking up the big kids bit, I think he was hoping I wouldn't notice.

morning everyone

right ive decided to go for the MMR on thurs coming whilst she is cold free - hooray!

anyone else's kiddies had theirs done?

maisiemog · 15/01/2006 13:42

We have had a second appointment scheduled for the end of January, but I'm going to put it off until March. I have decided the older and more developed his immune system is the better. The doctor told me it had to be done between 13 and 15 months.
Alfie is now opening all the doors using the door handles, so I can't shut him in or out of rooms anymore.
I must remember to lock the front door, or he'll be off!

biglips · 16/01/2006 18:55

ive just noticed today that DD's teeth are all thru (well not all thru as 6 back ones are showing the tip atm)

what are your little ones fave song? as mine is "Row the boat!"

KathH · 16/01/2006 19:59

Hi all - not too great at the minute. Moley has completely given up on sleep and is particularly foul tempered - keeps slapping people and generally grizzling. Hope its just a phase (she says for the fifteith time!) He's also discovered its great fun to sit astride the back of the sofa and can also climb onto the dining room chairs and then onto the table. Am feeling knackered and quite p*ed of in general. He was a bit of a surprise tbh - youngest ds was 6 and am really starting to worry that I'll end up resenting him and then feel bad because he's otherwise lovely and feel terrible because of all the heartache couples who cant have kids feel. Anyway, enough self pitying for one night! How's everyone else? If you say having a great time and babies sleeping thru beautifully I may commit murder (or suicide, cant decide which at the moment)

KathH · 16/01/2006 20:00

Oh and I've resorted to the fags again
