Hi All, I thought I'd start a new 2006 thread for the October 2004 Mummies and Babies.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
biglips · 02/05/2006 11:20

oh well guys

im having a go with DD eating lentil soup! (me being brave!)

geogteach · 02/05/2006 13:09

Babygeog hasn't had MMR yet I think the guidance is just that you have it between 15 and 18 months not that you can't have it after. If that was the case DH would have marched me down there by now (he is a dr) but DS2 hasn't been well enough to have it but I recon I should make another appointment now.

huppa · 02/05/2006 19:03

OMG -admittedly it´s been a while since I´ve logged on, but there seems to be a million posts to catch up on. I´ve just glanced at the most recent, so congratulations to hotmama. I´ll catch up with the rest later.

Ds had his mmr last week as he spent most of the winter being ill. I think if they´re going to have a reaction it´s usually about 10 days later, so I think he´s going to be fine. I´m sure 19 months isn´t too late.

He´s still only saying one word, but at least it´s mama, so I hear it quite a lot each day Grin. Is anyone else´s toddler really clumsy? Ds just seems to spent his entire day moving from one accident to another and seems to be particularly keen to bang his head on as many doorposts/paths etc. as possible.

maisiemog · 02/05/2006 23:20

Hi Huppa, I don't think Alf is particularly clumsy, but he does fall over or bump into things when he wants attention, or we aren't doing what he wants. It's his baby way of exerting some influence - I think. They're a bit uncoordinated at this age though, I mean they are still rubbish at walking, compared with a five year old.
Alfie is sleeping like an insomniac coffee-taster at the moment. he is getting two big old teeth at the back and his gums look really red, so it could well be related.
I was wonder, is Moley getting teeth Kath? It just seems endless this teething lark!
Biglips, I give Alf a bit of sooop in a little bowl and he puts all his bread in it and then munches it. I'm not going to let him feed himself with a spoon until he is ten. He's still not that good at getting stuff onto the spoon - he can put it in his mouth ok, but there's nothing on the spoon. ShockThen suddenly he starts waving the spoon around, so even it there is anything on it, it sticks on the windows.
Did you get a job yet incidentally?

OP posts:
biglips · 03/05/2006 11:44

no not yet as still looking

ha ha !!! mine have the food on her spoon but by the time it reached to her mouth, its all down her bib and she eating it off her bib! Grin

mine is only clumsy when she is tired as she falls over non-stop and bangs her head -she need a crash helmet but she always picks herself up and carry on - my face goes all white!

maisiemog · 03/05/2006 21:33

Had an argument with dp today and Alfie was in the middle. I felt so bad for him because he didn't really understand why we were cross.
How you do you deal with arguments when the babies are around?

OP posts:
biglips · 04/05/2006 09:02

maisie - we normally go into the kitchen away from tweenie as we give each other growling facial signs before we have an arguement

when mum was living here.. that was another story as poor tweenie was getting upset.

maisiemog · 06/05/2006 00:23

So that's Alfie off to bed at 9:30 - two hours after dp put him down. He is truly fed-up at the moment with two huuuge molars cutting his gums up.
We have found if he has no nap during the day, he falls asleep at 7 and has to be carried to bed. Mind you it's a long day for us.
What does everyone else do for naps? Have the babies dropped any naps yet or do they just stay awake?
Latest fads - Alfie seems to spend a lot of time walking around backwards at the moment and walking around on tiptoe strange child.
Did Moles get his MMR appointment yet Kath?
DP had Alf out in Au Naturel the other day and apparently he was amusing the queue for the till by doing his cool dancing. It consists of doing knee bends and going up and down and simaltaneously doing monkey arms. When he gets to a bit of music he particularly likes he does a big knee bend right down to the ground - that's a real crowd pleaser. ShockGrin

As of yesterday babygeog is walking and running and climbing to the top of a 12 foot slide when i wasn't looking Blush I can't believe it the day before i was looking after his friend and I took them out with friend walking and babygeog in buggy as he couldn't walk next day he's giving me heart attacks crawling over a wobbly bridge above my head.
As for naps I am truely blessed he still has up to 3 hours in the afternoon and goes to bed at 7 - and having had 2 others who didn't do daytime sleep I am truely greatful!

maisiemog · 06/05/2006 20:54

OMG Geo, that must have been quite a fright! Typical babies catching their mummies out like that.
The number of times I have said, 'but I didn't think he could...' and of course the first time is always the time you are out of the room or doing something else.
That's loads of sleep for little geog, he must be growing a lot. What time does he get up in the morning?
Alfie just went down at 8, which wasn't too bad, but he only had a teeny nap lying on my chest for half an hour, just before dinner. I had to wake him up to feed him - not impressed! Shock
I totally admire you coping with all those kids. I'm bowing down.

KathH · 06/05/2006 22:41

evening all.

Not got round to ringing hv yet re mmr. Everyday i think i'll ring her today and then forget. Not much progress to report on extension front except loads of mess, we're having the kitchen & dining room extended plus another room downstairs & then ds1's room extended upstarirs plus another room. If that makes sense. Really beginning to wish we'd just moved instead!

DD2 has her friend sleeping tonight, i say sleeping but at the moment their hoofing around upstairs like a heard of rhinos. Have warned them that if they wake moley up life will be very grim indeed.

Goegteach, we bought moley a baby slide so he wouldnt be tempted with the big slide, nearly had heart failure when he shouted me and he was standing at the very top of the slide waving at me! Mind you, ds1 left the stairgate open the other day & when I cam out of my bedroom I was greeted by moley sitting on the top stair looking very pleased with himself.

Still going relatively ok with the sleep, well not exactly ok but better than it was.

KathH · 06/05/2006 22:43

oh yes, moley learnt a new trick today, he pulls his winky out of the top of the nappy & laughs as he piddles everywhere. Think a potty might be next on my shopping list!

maisiemog · 06/05/2006 23:12

What a little minkerbums! Grin
They seem to develop a fascination with their peepees at this age. The minute I take of Alfie's nappy he grabs his.Grin
I don't fancy your house at the moment, but it will all be worth when it's done, just let all the dust pile up and at the end go Pwwoooof and blow it all away in a big cloud. Grin

Kth H - what aclever boy (well kind of!!!)

DH was laughing at me spending so much time on MN - well I told where else can I read threads like what to call boys bits/ I fancy Doctor Who etc!! - The crucial problems in lfe :)

Grace is 19 months tomrorow - come on number 3 I say!

OHH and I have toothache :( where is a dentist when I need one! ANd we need a new roof - don't know what will be cheeper :o

KathH · 07/05/2006 22:57

don't think my mum was too impressed when he did it tonight over her carpet!

cazzybabs · 07/05/2006 22:59

Oh no!!!!

Will he do it in a potty?

biglips · 12/05/2006 22:15

kathh- Shock at your moley !!

mine got a habit of putting both hands down her nappy Shock.... we havent had an accident painting on the wall for the past 2 weeks (she done it twice now!) but there is dried up snots instead! - oh i give up!!!!!

DD loves singing esp twinkle twinkle little star - she had a round of applause today off the crowd on the rail platform Grin and was telling everyone her "new shoes" "new shoes" for the 100th time! as i bought her new sandals from Adams Grin Grin

cazzybabs · 14/05/2006 21:45

Grace said her name today for the 1st time - it was dead exciting...she looked at a photo of her and said Dace! She still won't really say Isabelle unless I say it about 20 times beforehand and even then it is bababe!

it was dd1's 4th birthday party - blimey it was so expensive! We had about 20 small children and hired the girl's nursery! Grace was in her element, although every so often she would want to have a cuddle just as I was trying to do something. My mother came and organsied the whole thing - poor woman she must be exhausted! It is hard to remember she is nearly 60! it makes me too sad to thing about her getting old.

maisiemog · 14/05/2006 22:43

OMG children's parties! Did you have to make presents for the other children or anything elaborate. Are you having anything for family as well?
Oh and did you just invite DD1's entire nursery or be selective? This seems to be a 'thing' on some of the other forums. Shock
Grace sounds like a little sweetie, especially bababe and having a cuddle every so often. Grin
That pronunciation kind of reminds me of Alfie, I kept telling him pidgeon whenever we saw any (a lot where I live) over and over, then the other day I was talking to one of his grannies in the park when Alfie started to say 'widgie widgie', I realised he was craning round from his pram to see some pidgeons pecking around behind us. I thought it was hilarious, it only took months and months.

How are the other babies with the partners, Alfie is a bit wierd if dp takes him away from me into another room, I think he's fine if I'm not there, but if he sees me he just cries.

OP posts:
cazzybabs · 15/05/2006 19:25

we had all of Isabelle's room - 18+3 siblings!. Grace is more of a daddy's girl- well who wouldn't be (mind you I would swop him for that army bloke off the other thread - did you see him!!! Too good to be true mind you!). She cries when he leaves the room!

Evyer bird we see is duck duck! Mind you she is soo funny - she has got in the habit of saying bye bye when she has had enough of something - book, breast, toy - it is quite funny!!!!

geogteach · 15/05/2006 20:47

All birds are ducks here too. DS2 still worships his brother i'm lucky if I get to 9.30 in the morning before he starts asking 'get Alex?', 'get Alex?' !

maisiemog · 17/05/2006 00:33

What is it with ducks? Alfie is the same, apart from gidgie or widgie or whatever he is saying all birds are ducks. In fact he says duck more than every other word apart from daddy or doggy (sound very similar). A dog came up to us today in the park and licked Alfie, right up the face. He thought it was hilarious, now he's probably got worms. Grin
And he's a mummy's boy, last night when I was at work he kept running about with my night shirt on his head and DP said he kept sniffing it. Finally he fell asleep on top of it - so I had no night shirt to put on when I got home. I had to wear a towel.

OP posts:
biglips · 21/05/2006 13:02

maisie - DD is obbessed with ducks too and everything is ducks..

oh well deffo got the terrible twos here - for the past 3 weeks!... its mainly as she wants to FEED herself and when she is tired she lashed out as she grabbed the nearest thing and flung it at me!! Angry... last week i felt like a big strong woman slapped me around the face but no it was my DD Sad as she was tired... i always give her warning if she does it again she goes in the playpen and if she carried on throwing stuff at me, give her one more warning and then its bed for 2 mins - timeout!!

biglips · 21/05/2006 13:04

apart from them she is a very good girl as if she taken something and i ask her to put it back, she is an angel as she put it back straight away and her bedtimes are brilliant too and she LOVES her baths!!

cazzybabs · 21/05/2006 13:05

Grace is also a strong willed determined young lady - she loves getting herself dresses - putting on tights, doing up zips and buttons!! - or not! And then getting cross when we try and help her. Everything takes ten times as long as Grace has to try and fail about 100 times before we are allowed to help. Dh is alot more patient than I am!
